If you like Five Guys, you will like Wayback Burgers... to an extent. It's Five Guys' little brother. I like Wayback because customizations go beyond adding mainstays like lettuce, tomato, and onion. It still boggles my mind that all the fast food giants still nickel and dime you for those three basic toppings. So yeah, props to the casual burger chains that still offer these up for free. And like Five Guys, you can add "premium" toppings like jalapenos, grilled onions, and mushrooms at no additional charge as well. In addition to burgers and fries, Wayback serves up chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and fried cheese curds. I was also impressed by the interior. It's pretty sleek with this sort of retro, wood-panel aesthetic to it. Wayback Burgers fits snuggly between, let's say the Burger Kings of the world and the boutique joints like Five Guys and Shake Shack. The only thing holding it back is quality and consistency. I remember my burger patties being dry to the point of breaking down and crumbling. This probably has to do with the fact that the patties seemed noticeably... small? Like 3 oz., tops. My family and I have ordered from there several times. After the first time I asked for my tater tots to be cooked well because I didn't want to have to cook them after we picked the order up. Every time we get home they aren't cooked all the way. They need to get people that are willing to work and take pride in their job. I ordered a full meal and was only given a sandwich. When I let the employee know that my fries were missing, he apologized and went to get them--only to return empty-handed, saying that "he" (I assume whoever prepped the food) had already sent all the fries out. I explained again that I hadn't received any fries and that there must have been a mistake. What happened next was even more frustrating: another employee came out, pointed to someone else at the table, and said, "He wasn't supposed to get fries. You can take them off his plate." And that was it--no resolution, no fries, and no effort to fix the error. At the prices this restaurant charges, I expect better than fast food-level service. Went in for lunch with a friend this afternoon. We put our order in with out problems. However the three young men behind the counter failed to wash their hands and glove their hands properly before handling food. The one guy at the grill had one glove on and I observed him running his gloved hand through his hair and wiping his face before he flipped a burger. This same young man had a wound on his neck that was covered by a band aid. The second young man who was there next to him, leaned on him and was playing with the ear of the first man and then pulled the band aid down to look at the wound, while the first young man was flipping hamburgers. The third young man came out of the bathroom, and I never saw him put gloves on while restocking paper goods My concern is the fact that Hepatitis B and or other diseases can be transmitted to we the customers through wounds, like the one on the first young man's neck. read more

A solid burger joint. A little on the pricey side, if you ask me. But the thing that sold it for me was the onion rings were actually fried rings of onions. I got the Rodeo burger and after a bite, had a big ol' price of vindalia (or white/yellow onion?) onion waving at me. I love when I can recognize the ingredient of the foods I am consuming! It isn't crazy busy, so the food seems to always be made to order and fresh. This is a really solid burger place. Their burgers, fries, and milkshakes are always great. I personally come here not for the burgers, but instead for the fried chicken BLT. This place seriously knows how to make a fantastic fried chicken sandwich. The batter they use on their chicken is incredibly delicious, and it is fried to perfection. Whereas many places fail in keeping the chicken juicy after frying, Wayback succeeds remarkably. I also really enjoyed the sourdough bun they used, as it complemented the chicken very well. My only complaint is that there was perhaps a bit too much mayonnaise on the sandwich, which to me was not a huge deal since I like mayonnaise. I can see this being an issue for many people, hence one star off. Despite that, I will undoubtedly be back here just for that fried chicken BLT for a quick lunch. Well to start, this place is insanely expensive for a quick burger joint. For a veggie burger, a double, bacon cheese fries and a shake it was just about $25. The veggie patty is the worst patty I've ever had. I'd rather have the Burger King veggie burger. We waited 25 minutes for the above food. Run by teenagers would not advise going here. No one knows whats going on, and the wait time is so not needed. Go to mcdonalds or elevation burger for the money. Went to offer, got a guy who seemed to not like talking. A lot of gesturing but no words. I was beginning to wonder if he had an issue but no, he actually could talk just fine. Place was not crowded. Waited 25 minutes for a basic burger and fries. A total of four orders went out in that time. Didn't get a cup so I asked for one to be informed I did not order one. I clearly did. The drink discussion was 4 words that proved the cashier could speak. Opened my takeout bag (I did not order take out but I assume the question would have required 3 or 4 more words to be spoken) and had my first bite. The bun proceeded to fall into pieces rendering the burger a real challenge to handle. It had the distinction of being stale and soggy. The beef itself was pretty good once I was able to get it off the table intact enough to consume. The coup de grace was a visit to the bathroom before leaving for home. A challenger for honorary inclusion in the 70s gross gas station bathroom hall of fame. Broken toilet lid, trash can full, walls I did not want to touch (or anything ese really). Lovely place. The staff is friendly and you really smell the grease when you walk in and that is the problem. The burgers are greasy. I loved the fries. I thought for the quality of the food it was a little pricey. For a little bit more cost you can eat at the Elevation Burger and get high quality grass fed meat. I've been to this place probably around 10 times since it has opened. The burgers are one of the best burgers I have ever had. It's nice that they have coupons out every so often. If you're deciding between here and five guys the choice is pretty obvious. The staff is always nice whenever I've visited and the fries are awesome. I'm not a huge fan of the milkshakes but that's just my personal opinion since it seems like many others like them.
