I brought in a brand-new (and quite expensive) dress for a small alteration -- just to adjust the string on top. I even marked the spot with a pin to make it clear. When I came back to pick it up, I was told, "That'll be $50." I was surprised and said, "That's a lot for a little string adjustment." The woman replied, "No, we shortened the length." They had clearly altered the wrong part of the dress. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she insisted that I had asked them to shorten it. Then she said maybe I had changed my mind, so that I didn't have to pay. Unbelievable! I was shocked. They ruined my dress and then blamed me for their error. I love supporting small businesses, but not ones that don't take responsibility or listen to their customers, and clearly don't know what they are doing. read more

My BF and I needed to get new blazers altered. The sleeves were a bit too long when we bought them.......they needed to be taken about 1-2". So, we were told by someone that this place does great work. We got there first thing on a Tuesday morning and the tailor/owner came out from the back of the store to see how he could help. He was not smiley, pleasant...just OK... We explained the problem and he asked us (individually) to step in front of the mirror to determine the alteration. He marked my right side first....then the left. He then did the same with my BF's blazer. As we were talking....I mentioned about wanting to make sure the shirt would show properly, he looked at my left sleeve and realized that it was marked wrong....so he went back and re-marked it. What would had happened if I would had not said anything else after the first marking????? Two days later we got the blazers back and my two altered sleeves were finished wavy...yes....the end of the sleeve is not straight...it has a light curviness to it.... My BF's sleeve was crooked....not straight either. Couldn't take them back since we needed to wear them the next day. Poor workmanship, poor attention to detail, poor quality. Great for dry cleaning and tailoring. My husband and I both get our jeans shortened here and never a complaint, even when I've asked for them to keep the original hem. It's inexpensive and never an issue. The owners are an older Portuguese couple so if they have limited dialogue that's probably why but it's irrelevant, they're pleasant and efficient. read more

I needed to get a pair of pants taken in a bit. Brought them to this place on Wednesday (or Tuesday I forget) and he said they'd be ready Friday. They were and he did an EXCELLENT job as far as my untrained eye can tell. Seams are straight and the color of the thread matches the color of the pant perfectly. Truly skilled workmanship. Had a pair of pants hemmed and a shirt+ties dry-cleaned. Pants hemming was fine- nothing special, and started to unravel after a few wearings. Dry cleaning came back after a week and the shirt was not...terribly clean. One tie's liner was shrunken, giving it a new imploding neckware motif (although the tie was fairly cheap and probably not intended for cleaning so hard to blame the tailor). Was pretty cheap-$17.25 for the lot. I only interacted with the tailor, who was pleasant if a bit quiet. In summary, a 3 star place. Might go back for future quick alterations, probably not for dry-cleaning. read more

Took my slacks for a repair: I tore the behind side after sitting on a jagged seat. The repair took a week and the pants looked great when I got them back. The owner also pressed them at no extra charge. For the service I paid $15, though I wish I would've been a bit cheaper considering the tears were fairly small. This place is a husband & wife locally owned shop. I stumbled upon it while searching for a nearby tailor to alter some clothing in a short time frame. They did a great job and have become my "go to" place. They're nice Portuguese folks who've always been very polite to me and the prices are certainly reasonable. They were willing to alter a shirt for me that another shop just refused to do and said wasn't possible. Here I was told it was no problem and I picked it up a week later. I'm fairly certain they are cash only so keep that in mind before picking up your stuff. read more

Living in Wayland Square, I love the convenience of this place! They are so much nicer then the dry cleaners in the East Side Market plaza. Every time I go there they are prompt and do whatever I ask them. I have only used the tailoring part of this place but I think I will start taking my dry cleaning as well! I am very satisfied with the quality of the work, customer service, and prices at Cardinale's. I needed a nontraditional-sized zipper replaced on a jacket, and other tailors I had visited told me it would take over a month to repair the item. Cardinale's did it in one week! Dropped off ten dress shirts to be washed and pressed on a Friday and was told they wouldn't be ready until Thursday --- what? I didn't need them dry cleaned or anything, just laundered and pressed, something most cleaners do in store and can have done in a couple of days. Since I already had made the trip over and didn't need the shirts immediately, I figured I'd at least give them a try. Ended up being a big mistake. Shirts cost $3.00 each for a simple launder/press whereas most places only charge around $1.50. Picked up the shirts the next week and went to grab my favorite only to find a brand new stain right on the front of the collar -- most definitely wasn't there when I dropped it off, and heck, even if it was, how could they miss something like that before sending it out?! If three strikes wasn't enough, they also do a really weird thing where they tag the shirt twice with labels, but one of them uses staples and goes through the fabric of the shirt, making small holes in the shirt and risking damage when you go to pull out the staple. Again, wtf? Based on reviews, I really wish I could have liked this place better, but they pretty much screwed up everything I look for when picking a dry cleaners -- timeliness, price, and quality of service. Why would I even think of going back? Will be taking my shirts cross-town to my old place, Broadway Cleaners/Mike's Tailor from now on. read more

Went to two different tailor shops in the area and they were unable to take in my dress for alterations because "it was too much work". I brought it to Wayland Tailor shop, not only were they able to do it for me but they did a great job altering my dress. I received a lot of compliments on my dress and I felt comfortable and it fit perfectly! I Will definitely be bringing my business there next time. they overcharged me i feel to do a zipper on my coat and in the end the zipper was crappy. barely wore the coat and now it wont go up or down, im going to have to do it over again somewhere else obviously. i felt he didnt want my business either and i shouldve just taken my coat somewhere else in the first place read more

Seriously the best. Tailored a suit that was so large I thought it was untailorable, now it fits like it was hand-made for me, plus a dry clean, for $60 in about a week. The man is a genius. I read some of these reviews. People expect that everyone who walks this earth must have the best personality, the newest of decor and never make an error. The shop itself has the look of an old time tailor shop. You go back in time a bit when you walk through the door. It has a European feel. Nice. The tailor, Manny, is talented and knows how to "do" clothes! I have brought and will continue to bring the most expensive items to him. I am completely satisfied. And finally, his wife doesn't smile ear to ear but is pleasant and actually a very nice person. Would you rather have that fake put-on smile and cheeriness one knows is false? On top of the professional work that is done here, the prices are very fair. I will continue to enjoy my relationship with this tailor shop! I recommend it to you too. read more

Poor workmanship and an even worse attitude. A simple task was done incorrectly, the effort to fix the mistake was a failure, and no responsibility was taken for the errors.
