We absolutely love this location and can't sing its praises highly enough. It's located in a very large parking lot in a substantially sized strip mall. Parking is ample so not to worry. At first the storefront can appear rather small, but upon entering you see it's a pretty nice size. First, there is a check in counter. The entire play area is walled for safety, and there is a shoe cubby at the front along with storage for personal items. There is a small store at the left with little tchotchkes for purchase as well. The staff is always friendly and checks us in promptly. The pricing is very reasonable per child ($17 for 2 hours) which makes this a regular activity for us. There is an initial large room that has items like a pirate ship climbing gym/slide, a bunch of different variations of sensory swings, and even a tiny toddler dress up area. One of my favorite parts is the kids sized zip line with crash pad. Both of my kids are proprioceptive sensory seekers so this is one of their favorite activities. As you pass the large room, there's a party room to your right you can book for birthdays and other events, and there is a quiet room to your left, that's blacklight-lit and full of cool glow in the dark/LED features. Then directly behind the large room, there is a hallway that runs parallel and connects the quiet room to the party room. The hallway features smaller toys and buildable toys, like choo choo trains and Legos. There's also a pinball machine and an arcade machine. I think the most important piece of this location is the motto on their wall that says this is the place you never have to be sorry. As a mom of two autistic kids, I usually feel I have to explain them/apologize for them when we go out. It feels so nice to have a brief reprieve from that and be able to see your kids truly enjoy themselves exactly in the way that they are. It's a place of acceptance too - neurodivergent kids or not - all are welcome. I think what would make the place even better is if there was a way to pay a little extra to extend the play an extra hour. read more

This place is amazing! We had a last minute play date with about 14 kiddos! It was also a holiday, so I called the morning of and talked to the owner, Colin. He recommended calling in a couple days in advance for such a big group since it's hard to know how crowded it will get. But he was SO accommodating to our group and reassured me he could make it work for us. He told me about everything they offer and how they do private play dates as well! We will plan to do that next time! We were able to use the party room so all the kiddos could eat lunch (pizza was Costco). I cannot say enough great things about this play area and how amazing the owner is! The kiddos all had such a great time and didn't want to leave! People who love this place really love it! And I echo all their praise for the great trampoline, the zipline, the multitude of swings, toys, the quiet/dark area, etc. Our little girl absolutely loves this place, and we love taking her there. Pro Tip: check their Facebook page to see if their hours are changed due to birthday party reservations - this is crucial knowledge! You can also call to see if they are super busy or not, which can be useful info depending on your child's needs. But I would like to add a big caveat: I would NOT leave my child unattended there. Some children are dropped off by their parents for many hours, or daily during school breaks, and although I haven't asked, supervision of these kids seems to be something the gym offers. However, typically there is only ONE person at the desk, and s/he is often occupied with incoming visitors or a computer glitch, or an unaccompanied child who needs toileting, feeding or comforting. I've seen very young children left alone to wander; I've seen near-misses with kids near the swings (especially the one with the wood platform) or on the trampoline. The back rooms are completely unsupervised, and I do not trust that anyone is monitoring the cameras - or that they could get there in time to prevent an injury. Some of the children there are not well socialized (that's part of being autistic, so it's no surprise), and I've witnessed a particularly aggressive unaccompanied child hurting another child with no intervention. I feel uncomfortable attempting to speak to or direct an unaccompanied child, as many have particular needs and preferences in how they are approached. But also, you have a vulnerable population there, many non-verbal, mixing with a variety of adults (parents) they don't know. That seems like a problem waiting to happen as well. I hope this place continues to do well, but I do think more trained attendants are absolutely necessary (either that, or a requirement that at least one caregiver is present for each child). read more

My grandson is Autistic and if you have the pleasure of having a loved one on the spectrum then you know how hard it is for them to find a place where they can freely be themselves. Great rainy day play option in the Federal Way area. My son (18 months) loves it! I've been here twice so far - once when there was virtually nobody, and another time when it was paaaacked. Was not a huge fan when it was packed. Lots of older, bigger kids who weren't really looking out for the little ones. Which I understand, but their supervisors/parents should probably be aware if their kid is straight up just not paying attention to others... Anywaaaays. There's a lot to do here, especially for younger kids. A slide, a climbing wall, a little playground structure, a trampoline, and several different types of swings. Outside of that there's tons of different toys for kids to take advantage of, too! There's also a little crafting/learning area for the kids who want to sit down and do something quiet, which is nice. I think my only wish for here was that it was a little bigger. As mentioned, it gets crowded really fast. Once at that point, it obviously becomes a little bit harder for parents or children to enjoy. We'll definitely keep returning here for play days every now and then! read more

We got the opportunity to visit here for a birthday party. This place is pretty cool, as there are many things to do in accordance to all sensory. In the front you would take off your shoes and sign in. Around the corner, you will find puzzles, a play kitchen, train table, sitting area for kids. Right next to it is a section with a baby treadmill, baby trampoline, baby bouncer, a big kid a slide and connecting rope bridge with climbing wall. Centered are 4 swings for kids. All different swing sizes, heights, and concepts. Next to it is a zip line that lets you fall into a cushioned pit. And behind that wall is another room that holds a puppet station, various board games, and exercise balls. There is a spacious hallway connecting it that has more sensory items for toddlers such as magnets, busy boards, bowling pin setup, musical instruments (my favorite!), and a basketball station. There are two bathrooms and another room adjacent to host food and a med not too large party. With what I just listed I feel like the establishment could have benefited being in a larger building and having more play area. I did not think there was enough room for the sheer amount of people that were present, but I love the concept off having so many options. Also I didn't really like the fact that the front ran out of antibacterial and the employee had no desire to refill it. Especially in this season of flu and coronavirus and to top it off a big population being present. read more

We normally go to a place closer to home but it gets pricy so decided to give Rock the Spectrum a try as it's a bit cheaper. It's not as big as the place we normally attend but the atmosphere is so much better. At this location you could tell the staff really care about the kids and enjoy being there and working with everyone, the atmosphere was very inviting and helpful. My toddler played for hours and did not want to leave. He is not on the spectrum and I called ahead you do not have to be to come here. He had a great time with the other children and playing with everything that was offered. There is a zip line he was able to be strapped in and ride over and over. There's a large trampoline he loved bouncing on. There's a really nice sensory room with one of those sensory egg chairs that rotates. So whether your child is on the spectrum or not the place is welcoming to all and my son had a great time. All in all, great environment, lots of space and toys completely recommend! read more

This place is great! It's in a little spot in a strip mall, but once you get in there, it's actually fairly large. We took our 8-year-old daughter there yesterday. I was so happy to find an indoor play place open! The staff woman working there was really nice, the play equipment was well maintained, and there was a variety of stuff to do. We went during open play time, but they also have drop off options and holiday themed activities and parents night out. We are definitely going to check that out. My son absolutely loved this place! Our electricity was out for the day so I wanted to keep him entertained so we looked this place up and they had open play! From the outside it looks pretty small but once I got in I was surprised how big it was! There is a small section where there were toys, a train set, and a chalk board. My son loved all the toys they had, they had a mini kitchen set, a grocery cart, a broom, a mop... not sure if my son is in the kitchen too much with me . They have a big slide! Lots of things for kids to climb on and in the back there is also instruments! He loved playing on the piano! There is also a quiet room with lots of books! We will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely my kiddo's favorite play place. He's on the autism spectrum so finding a safe non-judgement space is my top priority. Staff are always very warm and welcoming. I love that we can use his DDA respite hours to go. A staff member will stay with him while I take a much needed mommy break to grab coffee, get a pedicure or go shopping. I took my son about a month ago and had a much better experience. I was impressed that they had a staff member who was on the spectrum. He was very meticulous at checking off items on his work checklist and was constantly cleaning the space and ensuring the kids were being safe. The other staff member was also equally impressive. She was kind and was accommodating to a young girl who was wheelchair bound. I didn't snag her name but I enjoyed a few conversations with her and it was clear she loved kids and her job. First time coming here today; overall my 2 year old son loved it here and refused to leave! All the parents here are really polite and great. My son almost fell off the monkey bars and a mom saw that my hands were full from carrying my daughter; she decided to help me with him! My son had such a blast here, the location can get quite crowded and muggy but it's a indoor playground so it's normal. There's a lot of swings and every child seems so welcomed here. The owner is amazing and such a great guy! He's super interactive with his customers and ask everyone how they are doing. My kid had a incident where he was kicked by another older child and as a mom I got a little upset and told the owner. He handled the incident so professionally and made me felt so much better after. I have been to multiple places where I always feel like my child is being bullied or judge for being mix raced so it really meant so much to me. It's so hard to find a place that both my children enjoy (one on the spectrum and one not on the spectrum). It's also a struggle to take them to the playground because of safety issues (wondering, gravitating towards water, etc.), so it was truly a blessing to find this spot. It's been almost a year and I feel I should write this review, if only because now living in the area for a year there just isn't really anywhere for kids with special needs to go for fun and I had high hopes for this place but I didn't feel it was a safe environment. Even though it's been months I remember like it was yesterday. There was an adult developmentally disabled MAN there (why are they allowing parents to drop off adults) who was a very large man and wanted to be the boss and tell the little kids (my son was 3) what to do and even was physically touching him to tell him not to do something. The only staff member there was a woman and she could not have possibly physically kept this man from the children if he really decided to go after one. We were just checking the place out and my son loved it there but I did not feel it was a safe place to take him. IMO this should be a place for kids only. Federal Way seems to have a lot of activities for developmentally disabled adults but there is literally nothing for the kids. read more

We just LOVE this place. We visited for the second time today, and bought a punch pass. My son is very nearly three, and has always been a pretty cautious/borderline nervous kiddo, but when he walks into We Rock, all of that fades away, and he becomes brave and is happy to try new things!! Everything is well-padded and easily within a toddler's reach, and the place is spotless. It is SO GREAT having this resource available, and we'll be customers as long as my son stays interested. Had my kids mini rock party here. It was amazing! Whole entire gym to yourselves, cute little birthday party room & everything was very clean. This place is so great! My daughter is 2.5 & we dropped in for an open play time to check it out. They have a fun little zip line, a trampoline, several different swings, & an area with toys like a play kitchen, trains & cars, puzzles etc. The facility is nice and clean, and overall a comfortable atmosphere. My daughter is very busy and she was entertained for an hour & wasn't ready to leave. We came back later in week and I dropped her off while I ran some errands. Normally I have to sneak away if I'm dropping her off with someone else like that but I had no problem leaving her there with Allyson. She was so friendly and remembered my daughters name from our first visit. I felt no guilt dropping her off like I normally would, & when I came back she was happy to see me but didn't want to leave even though she'd been there for about 2 hours. She had so much fun and it was so nice to be able to go through Costco and not have to worry about her. read more

We brought our one year old here for the first time tonight and she absolutely loved it! There was so much for her to do and the entire place is completely child safe so there was literally zero to no worry about what she would get herself into as she roamed around freely. She especially enjoyed the little corner dedicated to her age group with all the different toys and stations. We look forward to bringing her more often as she continues to grow and then in turn will be able to utilize more of the offered activities! There's just so much to do here and if you're looking for a place to spend quality time with your children while they burn off some energy & express themselves freely, this is the perfect place! It's clean & you can tell that it is well kept. The staff is professional, and you can tell that they truly love their jobs & seeing smiles on the faces of everyone that walks in.
