Dr. Fung is fantastic! She has helped me with digestive issues, managing symtoms of perimenopause and regulating symptoms with my gallbladder. In Chinese medicine, the gallbladder has a function (not the information Western doctors will give you) and trying to keep it in can be an important support for digestion as we age. Dr. Fung used a mix of acupuncture and abdominal massage to help me manage digestive and gallbladder issues. This review is long overdue. I was recommended to see Shirliey by a dear friend while I was doing IVF. I went through three rounds of egg retrievals and had ONE golden egg waiting for transfer. This review is very late, but I wanted to share my experience. Shirliey is very knowledgeable and great at what she does. I had experienced fertility challenges for many years and was told that IVF was my best hope; although the chances were still slim. I came to Wealth Acupuncture for fertility acupuncture and abdominal massage. At that time, I was looking to prepare my body as best as I could for IVF; including acupuncture, fertility diet and stress reduction. After my 5th treatment I became pregnant naturally at age 40, after nearly 8 years TTC. Shirliey is incredible and my husband and I feel so lucky and fortunate to have found her on our fertility journey. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half when I first met Shirliey. I had also just had surgery a few months prior to remove endometriosis and a fibroid. We had tried so many things that I was starting to lose hope. Shirliey started our first session with a full intake of my diet, my lifestyle, my profession, my partner, anything that could be stress inducing- really every aspect of my life that could be keeping us from conceiving. It was so refreshing to have someone take such a holistic approach and not just rush to treatment. She performed a Mayan Abdominal Massage on me and taught me how to do it myself (which is incredible because most practices have you come in every other day to have the practitioner perform it on you which gets crazy expensive) and we finished up with acupuncture. My first month of treatment was eye opening. I have always been slightly more high strung and very type A but Shirliey was able to calm me and make me noticeably more relaxed (according to my husband). I have been trying to get pregnant for 6 years (naturally and with medicated IUIs). My husband and I started looking into IVF when my friend recommended Shirliey to me for fertility acupuncture. Shirley has been such a please to work with through my first pregnancy. She got me in for an initial visit a couple weeks before my frozen embryo transfer. Shirliey is just spectacular and this review is very overdue! I have PCOS and my husband and I spent 4 long and lonely years trying to conceive. I underwent 5 unsuccessful cycles of infertility treatments (with a combo of oral and injectable hormones/various other meds) and my reproductive endocrinologist was strongly recommending IVF stating I would likely not get pregnant unless I did IVF. Then the pandemic hit temporarily closing my fertility clinic, which was actually a big blessing. I cannot even begin to explain the benefit my family has received from Shirliey at Wealth Acupuncture. When my partner and I first started going to see her it was for infertility issues. Complications from my partners severe case of Crohn's disease had prevented us from being able to conceive, and we had to look at all options to try to have our first child. We saw her to address my partners biological issues but also to bring up my sperm count as we went through IVF. During this time, I was also experiencing a strong, visceral pain in my left side, and breathing issues related to asthma that my primary MD had not been able to solve. Prior to becoming a patient of Shirliey's, I had been prescribed pills, inhalers, and was consistently told to stretch more (I do Yoga), by a doctor that I felt was not really payIng attention or listening to the issues I knew was experiencing. After almost two years of feeling this sharp strange pain in my side, waking up unable to breathe to the point of vomiting and almost being hospitalized, it took Shirliey only a few short months to chip away at my pain. At the time, both my partner and I saw her every week. Now we don't have to, because Shirliey helped us conceive, and we now have a beautiful six month old baby girl. However, that being said, we both still see her once a month to handle health issues that arise and to maintain our quality of life. Which honestly is much better since we've gone here. I happened upon Shirley by chance, and I feel so lucky that I did. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 1/2 years, and I've tried everything. I mean everything. Fertility drugs (multiple kinds), IUI (multiple times), IVF (multiple times), acupuncture for 6+ months, multiple times a week, at another top clinic in the Bay Area, and nothing worked. I hadn't fully given up, because I am only 32, but my hope was low. My husband and I were going into our 3rd IVF attempt, and I thought I would give acupuncture one last shot. I am so grateful to Shirliey. I had been trying to conceive for more than a year (with confusing, but unsuccessful, results) before I finally decided that it was never going to happen unless I focused on my own health first. I had had gastrointestinal pain, painful periods, and urinary discomfort (I can't pinpoint what was exactly wrong; everything?) for a few years already, so I started searching for practitioners who could help relieve the menstrual pain, just to start somewhere. I went into Shirliey's office feeling like my exhausted, uncomfortable self, so much so that when she started to teach me how to do therapeutic massage on myself at home, I asked if I could pass on that and just come back to see her from time to time because I was tired of feeling responsible for my ongoing pain. (Note: I now wish I had made more of an effort to learn, because Shirliey's techniques work!) I also distinctly remember Shirliey asking, during the appointment, about pregnancy, to which I loosely responded, "If I ended up pregnant next month, I would be happy." What can I say? By the time of my next appointment with Shirliey in January, I was pregnant. In fact, Shirliey is the one who recommended that I take a pregnancy test, just to check. Furthermore, after the combination of the two appointments, my gastrointestinal pain was gone (and has stayed away ever since), and my urinary discomfort had lessened. In September 2020, I gave birth to a healthy baby, and in December 2020 (almost one year after my first appointment with Shirliey) I came back for another full (front and back) Maya Abdominal Massage. I was hoping to try to nix the last of the urinary discomfort that we had started working on with my first two appointments, and I also wanted to experience another leap in health like the one after her massage in December 2019. In particular, I thought it would be great for Shirliey's massage to help my organs find their natural places once again (they get pushed around by a growing baby). Not only did Shirliey reset my hips (they had become painful for me when side-lying), make me feel healthier and relieved overall (I assume by situating and soothing my abdominal organs once again), and reduce or completely relieve (time will tell) my feeling of urinary urgency, she also did something incredible and unexpected to help my postpartum belly. During the massage, Shirliey mentioned something about a particular technique helping to get residual fluid out of my belly area. I thought that was interesting, if no more remarkable than any other part of the massage. But then, when I stood up to dress at the end of the appointment, I had to do a double-take. For the two months since giving birth, my belly had been a lumpy, wrinkly mess. After Shirliey's bodywork, that was gone. I actually had a flashback to a dressing room when I was 16 years old and my friend commented that my belly was smooth, "like a sidewalk." In sum, Shirliey has done multiple things to help my body in ways I thought impossible. I don't react poorly to certain foods anymore (eyes especially on you, garlic and onions), I conceived and birthed a child, I can keep my mind off my bladder, I'm healthier emotionally,* and she gave me faith in the recovery of a postpartum body. I also want to emphasize that I think the Maya Abdominal Massage helps the body, or at least the abdominal organs, function as a complete, flowing system; therefore, it may be able to treat symptoms that have led more isolated styles of therapy, massage, and adjustment on wild goose chases. Throughout the time I have known her, Shirliey has been responsive, kind, dependable, happy, willing to work with appreciation and joy that I wish I myself could emulate, and--importantly--safe, caring, communicative, and honest about which techniques are appropriate for use during pregnancy and which should wait until postpartum. When Shirliey described that the woman who had introduced it in the United States had had her teacher's blessing to do so, I started to cry unexpectedly because the woman's relationship with her teacher sounded so loving, beautiful, and non-extractive. Something about Shirliey earned my trust and willingness to relax and be vulnerable very quickly during that session, which itself is a part of healing. read more

I have been going to Shirliey for almost two years now through so many phases of infertility, IVF, miscarriage, and now pregnancy! She has been one of the only constant practitioners I have seen throughout the process and she is truly a gifted and essential godsend. In addition to helping me to (finally) achieve pregnancy, she has also helped to balance my spirit and body as a whole as I've navigated this super stressful time. I've done both weekly acupuncture and Maya massage her based on different things going on with infertility treatments, diagnosis, and more. I am forever indebted to this miracle healer, Shirliey Fong, and cannot recommend her enough. Almost 3 years ago I found Shirliey through an internet search for a Mayan abdominal massage practitioner. I was drawn to Shirliey because she integrated acupuncture into her practice as well. By way of history, I have had challenges with women's health issues since childhood after being diagnosed with a uterine anomaly followed by struggles with endometriosis, fibroids, infertility, a left fallopian tube so twisted a doctor called it a "pretzel" post surgery, and painful menses. The struggle, however, culminated after a fibroid specialty clinic recommended either an IUD (to control bleeding moving forward) or hysterectomy (because I had so many fibroids through the uterine wall). A massage therapist at a chiropractor's office suggested Mayan abdominal massage to enhance uterine blood flow in hopes I could avoid a hysterectomy. Shirliey took a thorough history and came up with a treatment plan with me. She tailored recommendations in such a lovely, collaborative and professional way. I was taken by how clean her practice was and her attention to detail. Shirliey told me that my husband and I should use protection the first few months as we did deep Mayan treatments and toxin cleanse. I dismissed her because after over a decade of using no birth control, I had never conceived with my husband and so I did not think it was possible. After a few sessions, I called Shirliey concerned that my period had not come and she encouraged me to take a pregnancy test (which I had sworn I would never take another one since I was just shy of my 40th birthday and never had a positive anyway). I was shocked it was positive. I saw Shirliey throughout my "high risk" pregnancy - due to a small uterine cavity and concerns of miscarriage, pre-term labor, and incompetent cervix. Shirliey would carefully track all my pregnancy symptoms and worked on points to address any issues. I did have a very good, uneventful pregnancy, and I was surprised to have a vaginal birth after a short labor. The doctor was surprised I made it to over 37 weeks, and I attribute so much of the positive outcome to Shirliey. When our newborn daughter had colic and stomach upset during her first month, Shirliey showed me a Japanese technique to stimulate some points on her (which cleared her out and started more regular bowel movements). When my daughter reached her 6 month, I decided to continue tackling my long term women's health issues since my body was ripe for that post partum. Shirliey and I came up with another treatment plan. Well, I became pregnant again soon after in spite of using protection (except for that one time I thought I was outside my ovulation window). I was scared but felt reassured that Shirliey would do her best to support my body through another pregnancy. My son was born healthy after 38 weeks gestation. I write this very very strong endorsement of Shirliey as a birthday gift to my 2 year old daughter...because I don't think we would be celebrating her (or my son) without Shirliey! read more
