Highly recommended Wear Master in Lincoln Park. I have had all my vehicles through out the years to them for repair. Recently took our F150 4x4 for a brake job. Greg at the desk is straightforward and will tell you exactly what needs to be done. (NO BS) I would trust any of my vehicles to them especially Mechanic Richard (Spuds). He knows his stuff and makes sure job is done right and to perfection. He goes above and beyond. Oh yeah and we drove 45 minutes from Monroe just to take our truck to them. read more

Shop was recommended, so I thought I would try them out. I needed some exhaust parts replaced. I called them and they quoted "about $200" over the phone. I got there and they put it on the lift to do a visual. "looks a little more complicated than we thought, price will be $300". I can understand that. If it's more complicated than expected, the price will be higher. The prices were just for labor, as I supplied the parts. I agreed to the repair, handed over the keys and went on my way. 45 minutes later they called and said the car was done and ready to be picked up. I immediately went over, CASH in hand to pay for and retrieve the vehicle. I asked how much? expecting the price to at least revert back to the original quote, as it clearly wasn't any more " complicated than expected " if they had the whole job done and ready to be picked up in 45 minutes. He replied $300. At this point you have little choice but to just pay them and go on your way. A quote is just that, "a quote". It is a ballpark figure, because some jobs can have complications and end up costing more, or they can be simpler and cost less. In mechanical work there are a lot of factors that can go either way and you don't know it until you're in the middle of the job. It's not like cutting a lawn or making hamburgers. There are things that come up. That's why they need build all the possible issues into the quote. Understandable. However when a $300 labor only job takes 45 minutes and you are still charged $300, that my friends is a $400 an hour rip-off. The going rate in this area today is $75-$150 an hour in this area. This is a great find. I have a converted van (for a wheelchair). Several of the factory pipes (or replacement pipes will not fit the van anymore due to the conversion). Not only did they replace everything, but it was done fast, right and not a budget buster. Greg (the 'counter man') cracked me up. He is very funny, flat out honest and he understands people, the stress they are under and how some many depend on them doing a good job quickly. This is what this shop excels at... I saw nothing but happy customers in this store. Greg and crew came recommended to me (do the needs of the van) by a friend. I drove over 40 miles to get this work done. Will never think twice about doing it again. They should get 10 stars. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! The guy who works behind the counter is a TOTAL JERK!!! The sign on the door reads the hours are 8am-5pm but he doesn't show up until 10am and I once busted my brake line. I limped all the way there and arrived at 4:45pm. He refused to work on my car. He got smart with me and said "This ain't f**kin' Burger King. You can't have it your way!" He made me take my car back home with no brakes. I waited 2 hours for him to get there. He took my car in and had it for 45 minutes before he told me that he needed a computer to bleed the brakes (which he didn't have) and so he couldn't work on it. I had to drive again with no brakes to another mechanic in Ecorse. He replaced the brake line AND bled the brakes without using a computer. Most of all, the JERK never apologized for his poor attitude. I haven't been there since. read more

Very pleased by exceeding my expectations for exhaust system repairs/replacement. I take reviews lightly because there all over the place, however in my experience this Wear Master far exceeded my expectations. And yes I'm extremely critical. A perfectionist. Greg the manager was very customer focused. He knew what I wanted/needed and got the job done with perfection. I went to several other shops before selecting this one. They weren't a bunch of young inexperienced kids (no offense to our youth). But when it comes to mechanical repairs you want service persons with years of experience. This place has just that. All of them have 10-30 years experience. They diagnosed my problem correctly and offered me many options. Greg focused on my quality concerns and provided me part supplier options. The total price was less than half the cost for just the parts from the dealer. Staff was friendly and included me in all decisions. The went beyond by repairing a very difficult to reach rattling shield for free that I thought was impossible without tearing the lower half of the engine. You would be foolish to ignore this review. You can trust this shop (that came recommend by my brother-in-law who was a mechanic at Sears for 30 years. I believe the person previously who used the "JERK" comment misunderstood the character Greg possesses. He is honest, strait forward and it's his sense of humor that gets misinterpreted by sensitive people under stress. He actually a fun guy who takes his job seriously. read more

It's hard for me to believe the previous reviewer's experience. I had a noise coming from underneath my car for several months, and it finally bothered me enough to see the Wear Master guys. They came highly recommended by my brother, who uses them for repairs on his work van. It took them about 15 minutes to recognize that I had a heat shield problem. Rather than suggesting an expensive repair, they clamped the heat shield, which was corroded from age (the car is about 14 years old). They did the repair for free, and told me to come back if I needed any thing else. Nice guys. read more

While the service at this auto-repair shop is fast, and the mechanics nice, the more they worked on my car, the more they messed it up. They flushed my engine improperly, which ended up destroying it. They replaced my spark plugs with shoddy one that melted my ignition coil in a few months. They tried to seal a leak in the radiator, and failed, so they replaced the radiator, and it STILL leaked because they didn't install it properly. This isn't just a list of the things that they did wrong, this is a list of EVERYTHING they did. Not one thing they did didn't result in costing me at least another $250 dollars. To top it off, this place isn't cheap either - but since I was busy and needed access to my car, i continued to go their incompetence started to show. I wouldn't trust this place to fill up my wiper fluid. EDIT: I can't recommend a good mechanic, but i suggest investing in a good bicycle if your commute isn't too far. I work around 6 miles out from work, and lose just 10 minutes on the bike commute - but i get exercise, pollute less, and save on money. I only use my car on the weekends and to get groceries. read more
