I was a bit nervous at first as are most of us are with an independent shop but they were close to home and I decided to try my luck. I've seen plenty of customer cars here over the years so I figured that it was worth a try. My 2004 Grand Marquis needed two things repaired, the speed control for the blower and the air suspension compressor. They did the work promptly and at a reasonable price, far better than what the dealership was estimating. Previously I tried the Lincoln dealership in Southgate for the blower not being able to be controlled. It was either on high or off. Their mechanic had the car for 2 days and couldn't find a problem. They said it was working fine and sent me on my way. It failed as I pulled out of their parking lot so I went back. They said I could leave it again for the night and they would look it the next day again. I decided that apparently their mechanic was not too experienced with intermittent blower speed issues even though the problem is highly recognized on Youtube for the Panther platform cars. On my own with Youtube's help I concluded that it was the blower control resistor, as this was a common issue with the Panther platform and decided to take it to Livernois Automotive. Mike and I talked and they replaced the blower resistor and the problem was successfully fixed in addition to the air compressor I needed for the suspension system. They took care of fixing the issue quickly and had me back on the road the same day. Where to begin. The clutch had gone out in my recently purchased car and Livernois Automotive was recommended to me. I talked to them well in advance, notifying them that I would be dropping my car off. They told me they would begin work on the vehicle within a day and would likely be done within a week. One week later I called back and apparently, due to a backlog of vehicles, my car had yet to be touched. Another week went by (borrowing my parent's car), and I finally received a call from Livernois Automotive. The call was to inform me that they would begin to work on my car, and wanted to know what was wrong with it because they either A) they didn't remember or B) forgot to write it down. Finally a week later I got my car back at full price. A few days after that the stick shift locked up while I was driving down a busy road at night. Luckily I was within walking distance of home. I have two words that describe the owner (Mike) and his colleagues at Livernois Auto: "Honesty and Integrity". The day after New Year's my son's vehicle broke down on the expressway in frigid temperatures. Mike quickly arranged for the vehicle to be towed to Livernois Auto and the initial assessment revealed bad news. The axle and transmission appeared to be beyond repair, so I authorized the estimate Mike provided for replacement. As many of you may be aware, these types of repairs are not cheap. Parts were ordered and as the repairs began, Mike and/or his mechanics recognized that only the axle needed replacement. He could have billed me for the initial estimate and I would not have questioned it. He also could have installed the transmission he ordered but arranged to return it as it was not needed. Again, I would have not questioned the cost and paid the money without ever knowing the truth. Instead, Mike only billed me for the repairs my vehicle required and saved me roughly $1,400. When I picked up my vehicle I couldn't thank Mike enough for his honesty and high quality repair work. He was extremely humble and simply thanked me for my business. I was T-boned by a deer and after body work was done I was experiencing trouble with engine (all lights on dash board came on, car acting like it wanted to stall, transmission was acting up) I went to Livernois Automotive because my son had went and they did good work. I unfortunately did not have the same experience. They had my car 3 days and called and said he thought it was the remote start and asked to disconnect, and then on the 14th day (after me calling everyday and going up there a few times) he told me my car was good to go and they figured it was just the remote start. I was told to pick car up at 5 and at 4 o'clock he called and said that they had to replace my ignition wire and he did not have it in stock, so it would be another day. When I went to pick my car up, he informed me it was $579.27, this was an insurance claim and he knew upfront, but would not file a claim. They ended up charging me for 4.5 hours of work but had my car for 15 days plus parts. When I went to have my remote start installed again I was told that all they should have done was unhook the fuse, so I ended up paying $100.00 to have reinstalled. I would not recommend Livernois Automotive to anyone. read more
