This motel was dirty. Dirty shower, bed bug on wall. Bed was crunchy when I sat on the edge. I left a review on booking and the hotel manager responded and said I didn't even stay there. That's right! It was so bad that I took the key back after 5 minutes in the room and left. I requested a refund and was denied, but I don't care. Now I know where to avoid. Rooms are not very updated, but they are clean, and that's good enough for me. They have some breakfast items available in the lobby area, but we went out for breakfast, so I didn't pay much attention to what they offered. The clerk who checked me in was new, and there was error in what I was charged, but to their credit, they caught it and fixed it before I even noticed the problem. read more

For what it is & at the price they have these rooms? Yes, to me this place deserves a 5-star even with its cons. CONS: Basically there is no room service, at least when I came. The only thing they'll change for you are your towels. It's easy to deal with, don't be a pig & trash your room. No pool & that's ok too, I'm not looking for one. Things are dated, I don't care if they're working properly which they are. PROS: It's priced just right. A little higher & I'd pay more for something else. It won't break your bank specially in this economy. SUPER CLEAN, they can sure take pride in their cleanliness. Friendliness, there's a review where someone called them racist, NOPE I didn't see it; & yes I have color on my skin. I include the WHITE CUSTOMERS, the ones in interacted with were super nice. Stop eating up what the media feeds you & going out to the streets ready to yell "racist". I digress. It seems they have thick walls because we couldn't hear any of the people adjacent to us. Very nice lay out if you choose to just hang out outside of your room. Great location, you have all the stores you need & a short drive away to just about all the major attractions I believe. "Good Morning, my friends!" the owner cheerfully greets you as you enter the lobby/breakfast area of the Weathervane. He asked how is everything with my stay and my room number and he immediately knew my name "Ah..Mr. Mike! Glad you are enjoying your stay!". You'd be hard pressed not to like a place that is so warm and welcoming - add to it that the rooms are extremely reasonable, clean with nice amenities, and centrally located in the heart of "Amish Country" all makes the Weathervane an ideal place to stay. The Weathervane's rooms are single level and housed in a brick building with ample parking in its circular layout. The rooms come with a mini-fridge, microwave, the sink located outside the bathroom which is important especially if you are staying with more than 2 people in a room to save time. Breakfast is included, so the price increases slightly when you have more than 2 in a room to cover the cost. They honor AAA, Senior, AARP discounts, but even without them the room price is extremely reasonable. Booking through their website should snag you the best rate. The breakfast is continental with an assortment of donuts, bagels, oatmeal, an OJ dispenser and nice strong coffee. The carb heavy selection may not be the perfect way to start the day, but it is better than nothing. Constructive criticism: adding yogurt, or hard boiled eggs for a protein alternative would be welcome. There are tables in here and also many brochures with area attractions available for the taking. The place lacks a pool, but it wasn't missed when we stayed over the holiday week in December. You can hear a slight bit of road noise in the room, but nothing too troublesome. Weathervane Motor Court is super great and as the name implies it actually is a "Motor Court" type of motel in the most classic sense of the term. The structure is set up in the classic "U" formation with plenty of parking with wide spacing so that the doors of the cars parking next to you won't get banged into your car as other pack and unpack. It's really almost a treat trip in time back to setup of what were motor courts back in the 50's and 60's but no need to worry about anything being date. The rooms are large, well-furnished and spotlessly clean with nothing about them appearing dated in any way. But the best thing about it is the sincere friendliness of the owner who really can't seem to do enough to please you. If there are any downsides to Weathervane it's with their complimentary breakfast which is rather skimpy, far more so than with a Hampton or other hotel like establishment. It offers no eggs, not even, not even hard boiled, sausages or anything of the like. Also, and though I never use them myself, a pool or a gym. read more

Room very clean - no odors including air freshener (sometimes used to cover unwanted odors). Bed comfortable, Near restaurants, outlets, theaters and attractions. Staff is family and very kind attentive and helpful. AND the staff performed daily housekeeping. which NONE of the major chains does any more. Only downside a littler skimpy on the towels read more

Large hotels are to "normal". I want quaint! I want to feel like I'm part of something and that I can trust those around me! I found that "diamond in a rough " here at Weathervane!! Ryan was so personable, offering assistance at any time, giving suggestions, inviting us to breakfast, and all within a perfect price!! This is an old school motel that feels fresh and current. While not as fancy as some of the newer hotels, it has a particular charm. The room we stayed in was billed as recently renovated, and was quite reasonable. Spacious, with fridge and microwave and flat screen TV. Everything was clean and new, but at the same time the layout and furniture was the style such a place would have had in the 60's and 70's. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is quite good. Best of all the price was considerably less than some of the major chains in the area. The only minor complaint, it still uses old school key locks. They have added deadbolts. Perhaps it adds to the charm, but I'd prefer card key locks. read more

This is a simple, clean, mom and pop run motel and I enjoyed staying here. The friendly owners were very helpful in giving us advice on where to go and what to do. You can tell that they take great pride in their establishment and it shows. The motel is very quiet, yet it is across the street from a huge mall with great shopping. We were supposed to stay here on Sunday night as a quick layover from Dayton, Ohio to Connecticut. It just happened to be the day before Hurricane Sandy was hit the area. We thought that it would be a perfect place to hang low for a couple of hours before we headed out again. But when we got to the Weathervane, the girl at the front desk, told us the truth - - both the power and water were expected to be out before midnight and that the next morning, potential flooding and downed trees and wires. it took us about 3 seconds to say we will take out chances to drive home rather than stay the night. The desk clerk thought it would be best. We were not charged for the room and made it back home safely. Even though we did not get a chance to stay here, I will give the Weathervane 5-stars because of their caring and friendly service. Enjoy. read more

I stayed to this motel last year, for an entire week. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. It was in a very quiet and secured area, however right across the highway began the shopping centers and much more. Everything is in quick driving range. This motel is run by the family who lives at the motel full time themselves. They are very friendly. When i called back to make new reservations, they even remembered my name. EXCELLENT MOTEL! The price is great, the rooms are clean, and the ones who run it are great. I will stay here every time i visit Lancaster. read more

Very nice, low key and nothing fancy but clean and quiet. Park right next to your room. There is a cornfield on one side and gazebos and we sat and watched the fireflies and a bunny try to sneak into the garden. But its also at a n intersection with chain restaurants and the outlet mall, with Target just down the road. Centrally located, an OK continental breakfast (although it seemed like a lot of people and perhaps not quite enough so go early). There is a waflle house across the street if you miss out. While I only stayed here for one night I truly liked the place . It was very charming and most of all CLEAN . I did not try out the breakfast so I won't judge it . The beds are on the firmer side and the linens smelled clean and bleached . The towels were thick and not worn out . Great water pressure and plenty of channels on the tv . No lie, I was very very hesitant to trust Yelp and Trip Advisor on the high rating this Hotel received. But people, the reviews don't lie and I'm writing my own to pay it forward. This place is great! Aside from smelling manure as soon as you open your door (but it's not their fault, all of Ronks/Lancaster smells like it because of the Amish buggies), this is perfect for someone wanting to visit the area and not pay an arm and a leg for lodging. This is a family-owned business by a sweet of Indian descent family and you can tell they care about their business. The room was very clean and surprisingly spacious. The beds pretty comfortable. The parking is right outside of your door. The check-in/out process was painless. And the included breakfast was much better than I expected. Usually included breakfasts usually require me to stop at a real restaurant for food, but this one had lots of great options and was very filling. It's close to a TON of restaurants, shops, and attractions (Amish country, Dutch Wonderland, etc.). If I were to visit again, I'd definitely come back. read more

Met the owner as I checked in and he was very friendly. This is an older Motor lodge, but you can tell he has done a number of updates. If you are looking for a nice clean and basic room this is the place. Beds were comfortable. Seems like they may be newer. Only ting was the TV was weird, Besides a few channels that were not ads I did not figures it totally out till me last day when I found the channel lineup in one of the drawers. They do have a small continental breakfast starting at 7:00 Am, but I only had the coffee. One other thing is they could have had more towels in the rooms. For people taking showers with long hair there were just not enough. Besides that everything else was good. So if looking for an economical place this is it. I would definitely use it again.
