Centrally located for Lancaster. Modern feel for a great price. We needed a last minute hotel for a weekend trip and had stayed once at Avid before. They had availability and the price was not outrageous for the quality. Avid is perfectly placed across from the Tanger Outlets and close to everything else fun to do, like Sight & Sound. Just from the lobby you can tell that this hotel is modern. Spacious, bright, comfortable decor. The hotel staff is more than accommodating and the rooms are perfectly cleaned. The rooms are very creative. Tile floor is such a modern hotel touch. Bye bye stained and smelly carpeted rooms (do you even realize what you are waltzing on in those decades old carpeted rooms). No closet, but a creative solution with hanger hooks on the walls. Let's be honest... do you really need a closet at a hotel? Even if you do hang something, it probably is only a few items. Breakfast is complimentary with lots of options and fresh items too. We will be back.. no doubt! read more

So it was that I found myself in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on a short Spring break getaway with my boys, with Route 30 humming like a tired lullaby outside the window. The Avid hotel: modern name, spartan logo, stood there like a box of good intentions. I checked in. The staff were delightful. Smiles like clean linens. They welcomed me as if I'd been expected, as if they'd just finished fluffing the clouds for my arrival. Every person I encountered, from front desk to housekeeping, was impossibly kind and genuinely helpful. If hospitality were the only metric, I'd give them stars enough to light up Lancaster. The public areas were inviting, like a well-meaning relative's living room. Tasteful chairs, a sense of light, the smell of fresh coffee and not despair. It was nice. Honest. But then I entered my room. A standard two-queen setup that felt more "standard" than I'd expected. The furniture was chipped and scuffed as if it had survived several physical confrontations. A lamp fixture clung to the wall like a reluctant tenant. The HVAC unit coughed and muttered throughout the night, ineffective as a sermon at a biker rally. I asked it for cool air and it gave me indifference. Sleep came, but not before I heard my neighbor's television, his conversation, and what I imagine were his dreams. The soundproofing was more suggestion than function. The USB ports, those vital little umbilical cords of the 21st century, were not only dead but caked with something that once had ambitions of being a previous guest's food. The floors were grimy, which I only realized after my socks gave up their will to stay white. Ninety dollars a night. That's what I paid. And for that price, I suppose I got my money's worth. There are worse places to rest your head, and there are far better. Three stars. A shrug of a rating. The staff deserved better. The room did not. read more

For the most part, this is a decent hotel, a little confusing, but decent overall. I booked my room ahead of time to make it easier on everyone involved for check in. When I arrived I wasn't sure where to enter to finish up my check in and drove around the building before figuring out what would be the main entrance. See when you pull into the lot many cars are parked right there and you think that is the main entrance, but it is not. The main entrance is on the narrow part of the building that faces the main throughway. You can enter the door where the cars are parked, but you have to walk half the building to get to the front desk. Once I got myself checked in I did go move my car to join the others, because you find out quickly that that door is right next to the elevators, convenience is key. The front desk area is nice, well lit, and the staff working the desk were superb. In this area you can get your breakfast on or just lounge around if you don't want to be in your room. There is a pool here, which I did not take part in. When I made it to my room I found it to be of a decent size and very bright. For the most part, it is a new hotel. Close to some attractions, Dutch Wonderland comes to mind. There are some missteps with the room that makes it not feel like a typical hotel room. There's no closet, which is all cool, but I don't want my clothes hanging up, chilling in a corner. Also, even though this hotel sits on the newer side, the bathroom already looked a bit worn and torn. You can tell that the shower area was not really sealed correctly. I noticed what was some water damage already from the water escaping the standing shower. TV selection was decent. Views, not the best. And the most disheartening thing about this location is just that, its location. Much like other businesses in this area it is a commercial plot of land that was carved out of farmland. It also abuts into a small residential area. Houses behind it and one right next to it, which just happened to be my view from my room. It wasn't the kindest of views. Then there is the smell. You go outside, and with it being so close to farmland, you get hit in the face with the smell of manure. I also feel as if this smell seeps into the building little by little each time someone comes or goes. You get used to it after a bit, but the smell can be overwhelming, especially when there is heat during the warmer months. Asides from that, it was a decent hotel. read more

This place gets the most solid 4 star I've ever given lol: NEGATIVES: The rooms are small. There are no closets or drawers to put your stuff in. Though you get a fridge, there is no microwave. No matter how good everything else was, I couldn't give this place a 5 in good conscience. POSITIVES: Breakfast was pretty good & fresh. It's not just prepackaged stuff. They had yummy cooked eggs / omelettes with potato fries, bacon & sausage among other things. Rooms were very clean. Beds were super comfortable. Hotel was pretty quiet. Barely heard other people. Staff was nice & helpful. Didn't use the pool but it was a decent size if it's just you and yours lol. The gym surprised me the most. The size, equipment & cleanliness made it great to use. Location was great, right of the Lincoln highway you literally have all the places you'd want to visit or go shopping a short ride away. Fairly priced. Huge tvs. Decent channels. All in all, I didn't have huge expectations because of the reviews I read. However, it was a great experience & would stay here again. Was a little apprehensive when booking but this was a great choice. Avery at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Maintained his professionalism while dealing with a hotel full of children running everywhere that were there for a soccer tournament. He assured us that there are quiet hours and we were happy to get a good night sleep. The hotel and room were very clean and contemporary decor. Loved the large bottles of toiletries in the bathroom. We didn't take advantage of the continental breakfast since there were other options right in the immediate area. We will definitely stay here again. read more

Brand new hotel on Lincoln Highway near all the outlet shopping. The room was small but since we only needed a bed it was fine. The weird thing is there is no closet... just a few hooks and no hangers... Now, I wouldn't have minded if I was staying overnight or 2 nights. But for a longer stay, it was annoying trying to keep clothes from wrinkling... I wouldn't have minded a small closet as long as there were hangers. Would have given 5 stars if there was a small closet with hangers. Update 1/29/23: Overnight stay and we brought our own hanger but this time they had a few hangers already hehehe. Woo-hoo Dove soap my skin thanks you Avid :D Bobbi is super friendly and full of joy! Julian & Joey were nice and helpful. There is a machine that dispenses still water and sparkling water, my hubby loves it! You can cast your phone to the TV so you can watch streaming services instead of just local TV. And check out from the TV so no waiting in line. Also, we now have a hybrid car, so there are 4 EV charging stations. It's free, but you do need to download the app to activate. read more

It's in a good location, you are near the parks and outlet mall is you like that sort of thing. The room and lobby weren't clean and were rather unsanitary. Debris and crumbs. Greasy /dirty fingerprints on the side tables and wall near the light switch. Gross. I am carrying wet wipes these days so I can do my part and keep me and mine healthy. It wasn't cheap staying here but no manager/management watching over means neglecting the little things ... which mean something to me. Do better next time. The best thing about this hotel was the view of the Amish farm with running horses and seeing the pretty fieles and cows. Heavenly view. My room had a tub so I loved that also. read more

We typically stay at Marriott and Hyatt properties, however, we decided to try Avid. We have previously stayed at another IHG property in Florida which was very nice. Avid was a good location for what we wanted to do on this trip, and the price was right - so we decided to give it a try. The lobby was very nice and I liked how it had several free drink options - including carbonated water. They had a warm, salt water pool. It was on the small size, but clean and was nice to cool off in after being out in the heat all day. Our room was very small compared to Hyatt, Marriott's and even the other IHG property we stayed at. The bed was very comfortable for a hotel. However, the bathroom shower was filthy. I had to clean the shower before we could take a shower. While we knew our room likely would not have a scenic view since it was on the main road - we did not expect to have a view of a dilapidated mobile home - which made you feel like you were staying in a ghetto! The free breakfast was pathetic compared to other hotels. Everything was prepackaged. We opted to get breakfast at the Wawa across the street - so that has to tell you how bad the breakfast was when we opted for the gas station instead. If staying in the area again, I would not choose to stay at Avid. read more

We had made reservations for 3 nights, A day into our trip we had a family emergency and had to drive home. The staff was SO understanding and allowed us to cut our trip short with no penalty. So very nice. The emergency had a happy ending thank goodness. I must tell you the time we spent there, the place is spotless! The rooms are clean and well laid out. The bathrooms are so beautiful. Enjoyed the On the Go breakfast. 24 hr coffee and snacks available through the entire day. We will surely return here and highly recommend it. read more

My wife and I decided to stay here at this new IHG owned Avid hotel on Lincoln Hwy for a weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by Tyler he was friendly and helpful. We were given room 428 on the 4th floor. The lobby is modern looking, it has a dining area and snack/ drink dispensing machines. I noticed, as soon as we walked into our room, how small and claustrophobic it is. CONS: Tiny room for the price. LG TV doesn't have Netflix, Prime, Hulu, AppleTV, etc. TV doesn't have premium cable channels. Can't broadcast the mobile to the TV (on our 2nd day we were told that they've been having issues with the Network for a week, it would have been nice if they told us the 1st day). They're internet is painfully slow, download/upload speed is agonizingly slow. Bathroom showerhead is fixed, i.e.; non-removable. No closet, no drawers. PROS: Indoor heated pool. Very clean areas and room. New modern fixtures. Decent sized bathroom, decent water pressure. Very comfortable bed. Quiet room. Huge 55" TV. Not having a closet/drawers means you will never leave items behind. Plenty of outlets for electronics. Wide expanse window/view. Blackout curtains/shades. Friendly, professional and helpful staff. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the useless TV situation and the price. We will never stay here again, unless the TV issue is resolved and the price is lowered to around $100.00 a night. This hotel is new, only opened some 8 months ago. Then covid struck. They were closed for two months. Back in business again. We had a memorable stay at this charming, clean and well situated hotel. Stayed in a 4th floor room with a view of a bucolic local farm. Tanger Outlets nearby. Free parking and wifi, a pool and a gym, and both are now open. Good staff, fine service. Loved our stay. You can tell it was built relatively recently. Yes, the room was on the smaller side (I would call it a charmingly efficient use of space) but it felt fresh, well lit, and streamlined. Yes, others here have complained about the absence of a closet, but there are, count 'em, nine hooks on the walls. You won't forget to pack your things a musty closet. The breakfast was lovely - I've listed the offerings in the photos - but what I really appreciated was that nearly everything was individually wrapped. No sandwiches lying in a communal tray waiting to be contaminated by sneezes and inappropriate touching. Interactions with the super nice front desk staff was an absolute pleasure. Shout out to Trei the manager, who managed to make the check in 411 sound welcoming and unscripted and obviously has the gift of hospitality. And Avery, who sympathetically took in my pleading about my teenage son - who must shower before hitting the road after the last bball tourney game - and magically made a late checkout happen despite a full house. I could not have been more pleased with our stay 3 day stay. The price was very reasonable, the rooms were so clean. Breakfast had a variety to choose from and breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Coffee fresh ground for each cup and 24 hours availability with tea, hot chocolate, sparkling water all complimentary. The staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. When in doubt round up with stars. I'd like to rate this place 3 and a half stars but since you can't I'm rating 4 because they're better than 3 stars. I've stayed here 3x so far and it's pretty good. Beds are comfortable but there's a lot of noises that wake me up at night. There's also bugs that look like cockroaches but the sign at the front desk says they're something else I think. Staff are helpful, nice and accommodating and when you talk with them it feels like they genuinely care. (I've been to a lot of hotels and have been to a couple that seemed like the front desk people thought that the job was beneath them and it felt like they were rolling their eyes with their tones but not this place. When you talk to the employees they're helpful and nice. There's a little breakfast spread in the morning with Jimmy dean sausage stuff which I don't eat because of how bad it is for you but it's nice they offer it. I just wish they would go the extra mile and give something better. Something remotely healthy. This place is fine for the price which is $125 a night plus $25 for incidentals that you'll get in a few days. I am going to stay here again because my daughter goes to school pretty close to this hotel and it's really convenient. read more

Wow! It's been SO LONG since I've done a review, thanks to Covid, of course. This is our first time traveling since it all hit. Last minute, I needed to find new accommodations because the house where we originally booked just happened to be in the same vicinity as the lovely Lancaster riot. I found this new hotel on Expedia, and I was all in. It's much less expensive than the mediocre Marriotts and Hiltons on the same highway, has many recent rave reviews, and is easy to find. Pretty close to Lancaster City, but far out enough that we're comfortable. Check-in was very easy, and the receptionist was nice and helpful. The lobby when you enter is actually SPOTLESS, and it's sanitized so well that it smells a little like a hospital. Decor is very modern and uncluttered, lots of natural light. Coffee station and market are right there and meticulously stocked and cleaned. Our room is amazing. It's not that it's huge at all, but it's nicely appointed, the bathroom actually has good lighting, the shower looks luxurious, and the bed and pillows are actually really comfortable. USB outlets next to the bed on BOTH SIDES(!!!) make everything so easy. And, if that's not enough, the a/c doesn't smell. This might be the best last minute hotel experience we've had in a really long time. A++! Breakfast is served in the lobby from 7-9:30am, and has really good reviews on Expedia. We just checked in, and have not partaken yet. Hopefully it'll live up to its reviews! Thanks avid hotels! You'll have my business again! Ooh! And the TV in our room has Chromecast. We stayed at avid for two nights. I had downloaded the app before arrival and had received an email that we could check in. I then got an email that the room was ready. I stopped at the front desk and picked up the key. It was super fast and easy. The room was smallish, but perfect. It reminded me a bit of a microtel. No closet, but plenty of hooks and hangers for clothing. The shower products were dove. They were in large bottles with a type of lock over the top so they couldn't be tampered with. Everything was very clean. There is a 24 hour coffee, hot chocolate, and tea area in the lobby. We didn't have breakfast here, but breakfast was offered. House keeping isn't automatic but is available upon request and parking is ample. I'd definitely choose thus hotel again if I were in the area. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised at my recent stay with Avid. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds and bedding were nice and cozy. I enjoyed the convenient continental breakfast and the access of grab and go food in the lobby. The pool left something to be desired, with foggy water and tendency to feel overcrowded with more than 5 people in at once. Staff was kind and attentive. Stayed here for a weekend and it was fantastic. New building and super clean. No carpets which is great for added cleanliness. All linens were laundered and clean and crisp. The view was great. Breakfast was free and substantial...warm sandwiches, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt and oatmeal. They have a 24 hours coffee, tea and cocoa bar. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Parking and location was easy to access. The king room was large and simply but nicely done. They have eliminated places that gather dirt and nastiness, so there is no dresser or closer but hooks on the walls to hang clothes and built in shelving for luggage. There was a small refrigerator without freezer. The window shades are electric, so you flick a switch on the wall and they go up or down. The bathroom was large and plenty of towels provided. The hairdryer was actually useful which is not normally the case in a hotel setting. We have been looking to see where there are more Avid hotels so we can stay in another one for a future trip! read more

I have to say the hotel was clean. Breakfast was good. Coffee was great 24 hours a day. The bathroom in the room was beautiful. The room on the other hand was disappointing it was very small. There was no closet, no dresser. And no couch. We stayed for three nights too. My room on the last cruise I went on was bigger! The bed was horrible, my husband actually fell out the sides of the mattress were collapsed it was very uncomfortable. Also it was very noisy we heard the people above us and next to us. If you are planning to stay there ask for the top floor and in the back of hotel. Also there was a group of people there and the mothers were in the pool with their clothes on. I thought that was kinda gross, and I would not use the pool. Also we felt it was a little pricey too, they would not except our seniors discount which we were a little annoyed about that. read more

This place was instrumental in keeping me going on my cross country bicycle journey. Milady (her name not a superlative) at the front desk was incredibly kind and helped me to get situated. She told me about things to see in my downtime around Lancaster and she was a really good conversationalist for movies and just good living. The hotel has a policy against people within 35 miles staying there which concerned me; but the guests and the staff were incredibly jovial and just really reflective of good living. read more

If I could give this hotel a negative 5 star review it still would not be enough. I reserved a room in August of 2021 for a stay in October 2021. This was a surprise getaway for my wife and a friend of hers for some much needed rest for two moms. Upon arrival at the hotel, the people in front of them were complaining about hair and dirty sheets. I guess this should have been a clue. A man named Jason was at the front desk wearing no identification and athletic pants. He informed them that because they were from the same county (Lancaster) that they were not allowed to stay at the hotel. My wife thought he was joking...he was not. So, they stood in the lobby of the hotel waiting for a manger to arrive (according to Jason). Thirty minutes later, no manager. My wife called me to inform me of the frustration and I proceeded to call the front desk. Expressing my frustration to Jason, he talked over me, blamed the "rules," and told me that no manager was available to discuss the matter before hanging up on me. Needless to say, my wife and her friend moved on but not before wasting half an hour of time and having to emergency search for another hotel on a Friday night in a busy area. The hotel had my reservation for 2 months and if such a "rule" exists, never took the time to review my reservation and/or let me know of the potential conflict. I doubt a rule actually exists because I reviewed the hotel website and there was no publication of any such rule. Oh and to top it all off, when my wife asked for a refund at the desk, Jason was unable to provide it. So shout out to Jason! Congrats man, you've made life long anti-customers of two families that literally live 20 minutes from your hotel. read more

My beloved and I stayed at this hotel from 10-22-20 and checked out 10-25-20. We were staying there to attend a show at the beautiful Sight and Sound Theater nearby. First of all, I have to say the staff at the front desk are amazing. They are courteous, extremely helpful and warm. I liked every single one of them. The hotel is very lovely and the lobby area is modern and clean. Our room while not large, was ready for our arrival thank God. As I looked at the window I noticed about 3 or 4 bugs and checked to see if they were on the shade or outside. Thankfully, they were outside on the window. At one point, we left the room to get refreshments in the lobby and a man asked us if we had bugs in our room. I told him we had some on the window outside, but not in the room. He informed us that he had bugs in his room and actually described them. Yikes. Not good at all. Back in the room, my boyfriend and I decided to exam the sheets for cleanliness and unfortunately, I found a speck of blood. Yes, a speck of blood. Considering that the Covid-19 pandemic has been rampant, I went to the front desk to ask for a new room. The lovely attendant graciously accommodated us by giving us a room on the third floor. I was pleased to see that there weren't any bugs on the window and there wasn't any blood on the sheets. The hotel offers free breakfast, tea and coffee 24 hours a day. The coffee was delicious. The breakfast served during certain hours involved a variety of goods: instant oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, cereal and hot food such as sausage, egg and cheese on biscuit or bagel. The hotel does not have a restaurant on location but a market area with a variety of chips, beverages and candies. There were plenty of restaurants down Lincoln Highway that one could actually dine inside or take out. If you want your room cleaned, you must contact the front desk between certain hours, I think 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. It is not done on a daily basis but upon request. We had plenty of towels and washcloths but I wished they had full rolls of toilet paper on the holder when we arrived at our second room. I requested a few at the front desk. The television was HUGE and the shower was very nice. Despite all the little things, this is not a bad hotel. It is very appealing aesthetically and the staff is unparalleled. The free breakfast is especially convenient if you're hungry and want a quick bite. The hotel is clean and very well kept but they must work on cleaning the sheets far better. I would still recommend this hotel but can only give it 3 stars. If you want to stay there, you should. But request a room on the upper floors if you don't want bugs crawling on the outside of your window which had nothing to do with the hotel. I don't like bugs and didn't want them hanging around on the window worrying me about if they could get in. Would I stay there again knowing what I know now? Probably. read more

This was the first time I've stayed at this hotel, but it won't be the last. Overall the stay was excellent. We did have a few issues with the wifi but the staff was super helpful in helping resolve the issue. I agree with other reviewers in that the rooms are a bit small but I was okay with that. The only amenity that I would suggest they add would be a microwave, but everything else was great! The best part of the stay was the staff!! Everyone was super friendly, attended to any requests very quickly and overall made sure we were enjoying our stay and making sure all was well. Breakfast offerings for the 2 days I stayed were individually wrapped Jimmy Dean bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit, yogurt, individual oatmeal cups, bagels, etc. nothing fancy but does the job just right. Staff kept breakfast area very clean and wiped tables as soon as a guest was finished so the next guest has a sanitized table. Room was very clean and still had that new construction smell. Basic room that was clean and comfy so it is perfect for those who basically just need a place to sleep. I took off a star because the vehicle noise from the highway was very loud at night. I live in NYC so I am used to noise at night but this was loud. I couldn't sleep well because of that. I've stayed at hotels facing that same highway and it was never so loud. I even heard the highway noise coming in thru the bathroom vent. That being said, I would stay again but I would request a room facing away from highway. Due to covid there was no daily room service unless you request it at the front desk. We didn't need room service, just fresh towels which front desk provided upon request. read more
