I have shopped at O'Reilly Auto Parts for too long, and today I finally came to the realization…read morethat there have to be better options to the overpriced junk they sell, or for paying 15% - 20% more for oil, air filters, spark plugs, etc. than the farm store down the block. Today I wanted to replace a single brake bleeder valve that should cost a dollar or two. I was sold an "assortment pack" from Dorman (which sells crappy aftermarket parts) for $19, only to throw away the 8 other valves I'll never use, and the one that barely fit was poorly machined. O'Reilly's "Import Direct" brand is impressively overpriced junk. I see a lot of low-income people shopping at O'Reillys working on their junky cars since they can't afford better cars or mechanics. No doubt O'Reilly stockholders are laughing all the way to the bank.

Sometimes I shop online for parts, sometimes I hit a particular store in town that is my go-to for a certain something (batteries, for example). But, when it comes to "what is my parts store" in general? It's O'Reilly. I can always find parts I need here. The guys working the store are super helpful - whether it's assuring me I'm not in over my head, or consulting on which particular part to get - I always have good banter with the guys and feel good when I leave the store.

NAPA was having a sale (online at least), so I swung by on my way home to see if I could just get the stuff in-store. The gentleman helping me wasn't the most outgoing guy around, but he was diligent in getting me the right parts and getting me a deal that was even better than the internet pricing they had. Can't beat that! They even threw in a sweet NAPA racing hat. Sometimes I forget to check NAPA (usually defaulting to O'Reilly), but they really stepped up for me. I'll be checking back with them as needed.

I went to Zimbrick Honda on Grand Canyon Drive in Madison Wisconsin and was very pleased by the help and friendliness I received there. I came in with six questions and Mike Cleary (Service Consultant) answered all my different questions. Mike was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, showing me how to check and reset things on my dashboard controls. My interaction with Mike Cleary made me more open to getting my car serviced at Zimbrick Honda. I drove away with the feeling "they'll take care of me"---Ben D.

LONG STORY SHORT: Zimbrick completely tried to rip off my brother and lied about what work needs to…read morebe done on his car. They made him think the car was unsafe to drive, so he did not have a vehicle to drive for two weeks, only to find out there was nothing wrong with his car. This is a review posted for my brother's experience specifically at the Zimbrick Honda dealership's service center on Grand Canyon Drive. AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COSTS!! They are dishonest about what work your car needs, and they will try to rip you off completely. My brother was told by the Zimbrick sevice center that his car was leaking transmission fluid from the axle seals. They also mentioned that his air intake hose was about to tear, and it needed to be replaced immediately. Both of these were strange findings as his car is not that old and has relatively low mileage. So, he took the car to Goodyear (on 608 Washington Ave.) to get another quote and a second look. Zimbrick quoted him for $840 for the transmission fluid issues, while the folks at Goodyear quoted him for literally HALF the cost. However, they also said they couldn't find a leak. Apparently, his car's seals were totally fine. As for the air intake hose, Goodyear found that it's only slightly worn from weather and time, but it still looked fine. The mechanic at Goodyear said they wouldn't recommend my brother to go out of his way to replace it until a light comes on for it on the dashboard of the car Overcharging is standard for dealerships, so that's to be expected, but it is totally unacceptable to tell customers that urgent service must be completed when there are zero problems. Zimbrick inconvenienced my brother for two weeks because he couldn't drive his car during that time, and it turns out it was all a lie! BONUS ADVICE: Seriously, go to the Goodyear on 608 Washington Ave. when you need stuff done for your car. They're so honest and they're such standup people there. They went one step further after checking over my brother's car to say that they weren't comfortable charging him with anything because no services needed to be done. They didn't even charge my brother for the part they ordered because they will just send it back for him at no cost. How amazing is that, right?!
