I bought my Honda Fit from Carmax and needed help learning how to use it. For example, the manual doesn't tell you how to change various settings. I went to Zimbrick Honda on Grand Canyon Drive in Madison Wisconsin and was very pleased by the help and friendliness I received there. I came in with six questions and Mike Cleary (Service Consultant) answered all my different questions. Mike was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, showing me how to check and reset things on my dashboard controls. LONG STORY SHORT: Zimbrick completely tried to rip off my brother and lied about what work needs to be done on his car. They made him think the car was unsafe to drive, so he did not have a vehicle to drive for two weeks, only to find out there was nothing wrong with his car. This is a review posted for my brother's experience specifically at the Zimbrick Honda dealership's service center on Grand Canyon Drive. AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COSTS!! They are dishonest about what work your car needs, and they will try to rip you off completely. My brother was told by the Zimbrick sevice center that his car was leaking transmission fluid from the axle seals. They also mentioned that his air intake hose was about to tear, and it needed to be replaced immediately. Both of these were strange findings as his car is not that old and has relatively low mileage. So, he took the car to Goodyear (on 608 Washington Ave.) to get another quote and a second look. Zimbrick quoted him for $840 for the transmission fluid issues, while the folks at Goodyear quoted him for literally HALF the cost. However, they also said they couldn't find a leak. Apparently, his car's seals were totally fine. As for the air intake hose, Goodyear found that it's only slightly worn from weather and time, but it still looked fine. The mechanic at Goodyear said they wouldn't recommend my brother to go out of his way to replace it until a light comes on for it on the dashboard of the car Overcharging is standard for dealerships, so that's to be expected, but it is totally unacceptable to tell customers that urgent service must be completed when there are zero problems. Zimbrick inconvenienced my brother for two weeks because he couldn't drive his car during that time, and it turns out it was all a lie! BONUS ADVICE: Seriously, go to the Goodyear on 608 Washington Ave. when you need stuff done for your car. They're so honest and they're such standup people there. They went one step further after checking over my brother's car to say that they weren't comfortable charging him with anything because no services needed to be done. They didn't even charge my brother for the part they ordered because they will just send it back for him at no cost. How amazing is that, right?! read more

I just had the oil changed on my 2021 Honda Ridgeline. It was $200. Zimbrick does a nice job, but I think that is double what I paid last year. I have purchased many cars from Zimbrick and will continue to do so. But I have seen substantial inflation at Zimbrick with their document fee (all dealers charge it and it is just a money grab) and all services. Sadly, I will start going to the one of the many good independent shops from now on. For reference, the oil change on my $75k Cadillac is $75 at the dealer. After moving across town, I've had more work done here than at their other location -- still excellent service! I have had two Honda CR-V's serviced here and I've been thrilled with their service. My beloved little Honda FIT is beginning to show its age. I had an issue with one headlight burning out/not staying lit, despite a new bulb and fiddling with installation. Finally as they days began to shorten more and more, it was time to have someone look at it. I was prepared for it to be a major issue, based on my google investigations. The efficient and friendly mechanic at Zimbrick diagnosed the problem quickly...squirrels (probably) or some other critter had chewed a wire. Much less expensive fix than I anticipated, very happy about that. Not so happy about what they discovered after giving the rest of the car a thorough going-over: among other less urgent things, it turns out my front axles were about rusted through. A potentially very dangerous situation if they had snapped while driving. I had NO IDEA. They replaced those for me at a second appointment, and I breathe much easier now. After the axle replacement, I felt the car was vibrating oddly. I called, they had me come right back in, and they walked me back to the repair area, put the car back on the lift, and went over everything again. No extra charge, and incredible patience with explaining and showing me so many things. I work in customer service and I know what a pain in the ass I was being, but they were completely awesome. All is well. I had no issues with the repair staff regarding masks and social distancing. I did have an issue with one of the receptionists not keeping his mask on. I mentioned it and they talked to him. One of the great things was the ability to wait while the work was done in complete covid safety. far from others. There's a roomy bench and a picnic table outside, and a huge seating area inside. Free wifi, tons of snacks and drinks, all gratis. (Another note: the initial call to them goes to a call center. Every time, the service order has been messed up. One previous time I arrived and the call center had me as being scheduled at the wrong location, so I had to reschedule. This time, I arrived and the description of the issue with my car was something completely different than what I had told them. Call center staff is friendly, but... ???) Professional, friendly, efficient, great repair experience every time I go. read more

Never before has it occurred to me that I would (or anyone) review a car dealership. In my lifetime I've essentially considered them a necessary evil, one that I personally would never buy a car from much less have a car repaired by such a place. But in the past 10 years now I've found that working on cars myself isn't as enjoyable or tolerable as I once nearly felt. When I first began driving a Honda Odyssey perhaps ten years ago I needed a timing belt installed, and having done the work myself once before, but on a car I was myself rebuilding and proudly doing it all myself it was a labor of love. But that was before kids. A wife, and ailing energy to find in the same abundance as those misspent 20 somethings and the decade of further post adolescent exuberance. That was before. Well mostly, since I still do all my own brake work and most other tasks that are actually too easy to justify paying a highly paid and skilled mechanic to do. That said, jobs that are more involved I find it worthwhile to farm it out. Most recently I had a curious warning light appear one day and before I managed to connect the code reader gadget I use occasionally the car began driving poorly. So upon limping it home and scanning the cars brain I received some info that suggested this may be a job for the gurus who know the inner depths of Honda physiology. So took it to them to get an opinion, and an idea of which child I might need to sell to afford their service. The prognosis was determined and I went home to ponder what was next. As I did so I opted to do my due diligence and seek knowledge of more varied and less costly options to sort out. So following my inner ven diagram I connected some dots and made some use of critical thought, and before long I arrived at what I believed to be the root of my issue. Online, I was able to order the proper Honda component that was ailing my beloved Odyssey and started removing bolts and widgets around the still unseen troublesome failure point. Once enough parts were out of the way I see an assortment of sensors, all appearing to be essentially clones of one another and the previously thought diagram on my computer didn't very accurately label which one was which, and while a couple were right in reach others were at angles only a small Asian orphan in the Provence's of some Chinese car factory that employs small children that can reach into areas no full sized adult could ever access without taking the entire car apart, I found myself at the place and position I didn't want to be. At mercy of a Honda Dealership. But since I already was certain of my diagnosis I was able to talk to a guy whom I've previously found to be extremely helpful and honest near as I can estimate, both worthy traits I really appreciate. I made an arrangement that I provide the part and simple instructions to not do any diagnostics which will immediately inflate costs. Just pop the part in and I pay and hopefully I'm correct. As luck would have it, the next day I get a call stating my car is good to go. The mechanic I spoke to told me my diagnosis was correct and everything was A-ok. He added that usually the code I received would mean that they would be replacing one of the other sensors, which of course are also the most difficult and priciest because of added labor etc. I wasn't at all surprised, because I was properly taught by my father that car dealerships don't make the killing selling the cars, but selling the illusion that only they can provide the godlike gift of the replacement parts to those who choose to leave actual work to the dullards who like to fix tangible stuff, not real skills like counting beans in a cubicle corral filled with chattel who exchange details of the previous nights America's Got Talent or Dancing with the .... I've totally lost focus, the Honda people at Zimbrick here in Madison's west shop are great read more

Amazing service *and* it is amazing consistently. We bought a Honda Fit from a now-extinct dealership and started using Zimbrick back in 2016. The quality of service, their customer-first attitude, and their fair prices inspired us to buy a Honda Civic earlier this year from the dealership that they do work for. There've been times we've had issues spontaneously come up and they've made every effort to work us into their schedule (on one occasion even staying a little late to help us get situated). While bringing your car to a service center isn't always the most riveting of events, Zimbrick's Honda Service Center on Madison's west side makes the experience (actually) enjoyable! Our favorite staff member is Damian - he is super kind, patient, and honest with us. We like to ask a lot of questions and are hesitant about spending more than we have to and Damian really works with us. We never feel like we are being conned which is a plus for a car service center. Plus, not only is the service stellar, but so is the environment! They have WiFi, cookies, granola bars, coffee, and water inside. Many places to sit while you wait for your car to be ready. There is even a Pizza de Roma across the street that we have gone to as we waited. Overall, I highly recommend the Zimbrick Honda Service Center for all your Honda needs. read more

My car required an oil change so I took it in and it all went swimmingly. After it was completed one of the technicians informed me that my brake pads were in dire need of replacement and handed me a form saying they were between 1 and 3 mm (reasonable time for replacement). Since the quote was too high, I asked a favor from a experienced car mechanic (20+ years) to help me replace my brakes myself. Upon inspecting the brake pads we found that the service center had lied to my face about the condition of my brake pads as they were between 4-6 mm. That being said, this service center offers premium service but may lie to you in order to perform unneeded service. read more

My experience with Zimbrick Honda in general can be described as patient and thorough customer service, organized, and trustworthy. Bonus points to their Grand Canyon Service Center for being on my way to the mall, and next door to my at-the-moment Pho place in Madison. In their waiting room there's free coffee, tea, water, diet soda, and in addition to cookies they often have other snacky options like granola bars, and I've seen goldfish crackers once. I like that I can make an appointment online at whatever hour I like and don't have to remember to call someone during business hours. It's the little things. My favorite part is the waiting room, catered to the busy student or professional - there are several partial cubicles and a free wifi area for people who want to work while they wait. read more

Michael and David are awesome - they always are so helpful and friendly when my car is in trouble. Even when it's closing time, or last minute. My car was making an awful noise driving home from work, so I called and Michael said to come by and drop it off - he stayed a little past closing time to help us get checked in. I went into get my airbags replaced because of the recall. They fixed the door locks because they told me that they go bad. I had no issues with my door locks until after they "fixed" whatever they fixed. I went back in to have them look at whatever they did. I was told that I would have to pay $250 to check my vehicle out and that money would not go towards the repair. I honestly feel like they did something wrong when they "fixed" my locks but now I have to deal with the unsafe door locks or pay them to look at what they did in the first place. I emailed the service manager and still have yet to get a response (it is now several months later). read more

I will never take my car anywhere else. A few years ago, I came out of work to a flat tire. I called the service center at 4:30 and asked if I could bring my car in. Despite the fact they were closing at 6 and I didn't have an appointment, they had me bring the car in. Within a half hour of being there, I had purchased four new tires. (I had not noticed mine were awful) That transaction is what gained my loyalty for life. My father had told me that when I needed new tires I should get a specific brand because they were good in winter. They were $180 apiece, I believe. I talked with the salesman and told him of the recommendation, he said he would look into it and disappeared into the back. Roughly two minutes later, he came back out with someone else who asked me about my driving habits. (Not much) This gentleman promptly told me I did not need the tires that had been recommended for me--I could do very well on a set that was only $100 apiece. He could very easily have gotten me for 80+ dollars more a tire, but didn't because he knew I didn't need them. To top it off, they put a rush on the order because they did not want me to be driving on a spare in an impending major snowstorm. Another time, something was scraping on the road, so I took it in without an appointment and they took care of it immediately. (By which I mean removed the part that was scraping and scheduled me an appointment to get the part replaced) I got there about twenty minutes to close. Never going to go anywhere else. read more

I've only been here a couple times for an oil change, but each time has always been a really good experience. My first oil change last fall was scheduled; service was prompt and the gentleman who helped me was very knowledgeable. My second oil change was a walk-in and I was really impressed at how accommodating they were. They estimated a service time of about 1 hour, but I was in and out of there in 30-40 minutes. The lady who helped me was also very knowledgeable and offered services without pushing it down my throat. This place makes me feel comfortable to bring my car and not feel pressured to purchase services (but offer what's available and what they recommend), so I'll definitely come back here and make this my regular service center for my Honda. read more

Last week I called in to have my Honda CRV serviced with an oil change and to have the TPMS checked. When I brought it in to have work done on the 10th of November, the staff was very kind and friendly. The greeter took my car information and handed it to the technician. The technician was friendly and said looks like you are here for an A13 service. I said I am here to have the oil changed and have the TPMS light addressed. We discussed the TPMS a bit and he handed me a pen with the estimate sheet for me to sign. He said the estimate will be around 200 + dollars, but will be less than that depending my warranty. I said that it is platnum warranty, so I'm not too concerned and I took a curtesy cab to work. Later that morning the technician called me and said that it would be 300 + dollars for the service and I said for what, the oil change and TPMS issue which should be covered? He said no, the A13 is an oil change, transmission fluid change and a brake system purge. I told him that at no time during our conversation did he mention the transmission and brake work. He said he thought I understood that. I asked him to look at the estimate sheet and see if anywhere on there does it say transmission and brake work. It does not, it says A 1 3. This is not the first time I have had to address this type issue with this tech. On my first oil change after purchasing my car from Zimbrick, I had a large bill for the same reason, deceptive sales tactics. I asked for an oil change and for the TPMS light to be addressed. I ask him if I could speak to a manager when I came to pick up the car at 4 o'clock and he said sure. We hung up the phone and I called the tech back to confirm that a manager would be there. He corrected himself and said that there would not be a manager there at 4. Again, deceptive. So I asked him to get a manager on the line. I spoke with the manager. He was professional, but kept on referring to how the service call center is going under some training on what the codes are. That is not my concern. I called to have an oil change and TPMS address and the tech did not confirm that with me. I go into a business expecting to have work done that i want done, not what the business wants done. I found this to be very poor customer service and again, deceptive, to make extra money on jobs that don't need to be done. Who really knows what an A13 service is? This should be explained by the tech. I cannot say enough how disappointed I am with a business that is supposed to be professional. The staff was kind, but I believe that is all a cover for deceptive tactics. A smile while they dip into your wallet. read more

I've been bringing my '07 Civic to Zimbrick's Grand Canyon Drive Service Center since I first bought the car, and all told I really like how pleasant the experience always is. Getting an oil change is a hassle and always seems to come up when I have absolutely no free time. With all of my former cars I either changed the oil myself or went to a local service or oil change shop, wherever I found the lowest price. When I bought my new car I told myself that I'd try out the dealer for the first change, and I've been going back ever since. It is more expensive, to be certain, but I trust the people at Zimbrick a lot more than anyone else. What I really like about the Grand Canyon location is the friendliness of the staff. I always schedule an appointment using the Zimbrick website, and I always request Mike, who was the first person I dealt with and hasn't ever given me a reason to switch. I usually ask for a time the next day near closing, and Mike will email back shortly letting me know what times are in fact available. He's very accommodating, and in one instance I dropped my car off prior to going to a Badger football game, bringing my spare set with me. They did a full tune-up and parked the car in the lot with the keys under the mat, calling me during the third quarter to let me know it was done. Most of the time I bring my laptop and check email using the WiFi workstations in the waiting area. There is free bottled water in the mini-fridge plus the standard vending options. Most people seem to watch TV or read magazines, but I've found that I can actually get a decent amount done in the hour or two I'm there. They always do a complementary car wash after the oil change, which is unfortunately close to the only time my car gets washed. There is also a buy five, get the sixth free punchcard for standard oil, lube and filter changes. I've put a lot of miles on my car in the last year (40,000+) but I attribute the fact that it runs as good as ever to the top-of-the-line service at Zimbrick. I paid a lot for that car, and I've got no problem paying a bit more knowing I'm getting the best for my money. read more

Great service, clean, dependable, and quick. I had a stripped screw in my air filter housing and I went here with a new filter in hand. Zimbrick Honda quickly removed the screw, installed my filter and had me out the door in 5 minutes with no charge. I'll be using them as my regular oil change location, rather than the quick lube joint that stripped my screw and didn't inform me. read more

Fantastic service. I was a dedicated Zimbrick customer when I lived in Madison and dropped in today upon arriving from Milwaukee with an unexpected and urgent problem: frozen wiper fluid lines. I think it is safe to say I'm obsessed with this place. They have the best service around. They are all just so NICE. And they clearly never try to rip you off. Anytime they can get something covered under warranty- even if it means going to bat with Honda- they will. And one time I took in my car for a mysterious rattling noise, which they spent 30 minutes working on to ID the problem and just needed to tighten down some piece, and they didn't charge me ANYTHING. Also, sometimes I just want to go work in their waiting room. Wireless, snacks, quiet atmosphere, space for kids to play. It is amazing. read more

Every time I go in it seems they are looking for ways to charge me more. An oil change always turns into $200-300 more in "recommended" maintenances. When I mention coupons I'm told those are already taken into consideration. So then why the deception with the ads? The people are fake nice, also the people at the desk never know how far along your car is or if it's done. I was told to go out and check with the service guy myself. I had a fantastic experience bringing my Honda in, specifically with David Widish. I bought it at Zimbrick over three years ago, and brought it in because I heard a buzzing in the speaker. I wasn't able to reproduce it but David still kindly offered to replace the part UNDER WARRANTY (which had just expired technically). He also noticed that my low tire pressure light was on and checked my tires without my needing to ask. They also will automatically wash your car if you bring it in to get checked or for service. I just wanted to say that I have told everyone to get their services done there. The customer service there is exceptional and I have had repeated great experiences there. To call out a few fantastic people when I was there on Monday: I was pleasantly greeted by Michael Vieth, who gave the honest impression that he wanted to help me out. He explained that he was checking my VIN for updates/recalls, which was nice to know. He politely gave me a time frame and I went into the waiting room with a smile. Marcus Liebert found me 20 minutes later and explained that they found my wiper strips were torn and asked if I wanted them to replace them. He wasn't pushy at all. The price ($7) seemed very reasonable. After another 5-10 minutes he found me again and said everything went well, gave me the report, and then small talked while I packed up my laptop. He said he had the same one, etc etc. He was just a really nice guy and one I want to hear my car reports from. The front desk personnel were very polite and continued to impress me by telling me because of my loyalty card, I received $30 off my bill! Sometimes loyalty programs are worthless and make you feel even less valued as a customer. I have felt that your prices are VERY reasonable and the loyalty program is one of the best I've seen. All of these people represented Honda and Zimbrick with exceptional friendliness and professionalism. I'm of two minds about the Zimbrick Honda service center on Grand Canyon. They always do a good job and their waiting room is nice and full of amenities. The problem is setting up the appointment. They are very much set up for people who can drop off their car and leave it for a day. We are a one car family, so that isn't an option. I haven't been able to schedule an appointment at a convenient time yet (they are only open until 6 on weekdays and don't schedule appointments past 5:15), but I'm committed to having my service done at a Honda dealer, so I continue to go back. Some expanded hours and they would be just about perfect. read more

The staff and service at the Honda Service Center are absolutely top notch! Online scheduling tools make setting an appointment so easy. I've been bringing my vehicle here for the last 3 years and I've never had a bad experience. These guys have even saved me from having unnecessary services for example, after I purchased my vehicle at a completely different dealership the service adviser had his guys take a look at my breaks during a routine oil change because I was concerned about squeaking noises when the car was slowing to a stop. These guys were gracious enough to let me know my brakes were working just fine, the squeak shouldn't be an issue, and then only charged me for the oil change. I had also been under the impression that vehicles should absolutely be serviced every 3 months or 5,000 miles , my service adviser let me know that I could wait to schedule service until the maintenance minder came on when the car was started. Those two little pieces of advice have probably saved me hundreds in the past 3 years. read more

I brought in my '07 Accord (purchased from the awesome Lynn Moldenhauer in Madison) for a recall fix to the power steering. I was able to make an appointment ahead of time (they didn't even scold me for missing a previously-scheduled time) and dropped it off at 7:30 a.m. I returned to pick it up at 12:30 p.m. the same day, though I could easily have stayed and had a good time. The area inside was spacious, with lots of cubicle areas at which to work while waiting, as well as plentiful free snacks and beverages. The staff was very nice, although it took about 10 extra minutes for them to finish the paperwork and for the service tech to get off the phone with someone else to go over the repairs with me. They did a great job fixing the power steering issue and charged me nothing for it - a smart move, given what they could wind up paying in a personal injury suit caused by the flaw. The service tech, a jovial guy who knew his stuff and had decades of experience on the job, also made a note on my receipt that my tire pressure was low and all four of my tires were showing major cracks from weather exposure (not uncommon here in Winterfell). He told me it was dangerous to drive long distances on tires in this condition. He also told me that the service center only had one type of tire in the size I need, but he could give me a competitive price on them, and gave me a quote on the total cost. I'm going to double-check around the area and see how competitive the price actually is, but I'm eternally grateful to him for pointing this out to me. I never would have noticed it myself, but upon inspecting my tires with my own eyes, he was spot-on. This information might have saved my life! read more

Sexist, sexist, sexist. I found Bob H. in Service to be unprofessional and downright insulting in dealing with a woman in the lobby. Then, I was next! For goodness sake - aren't we past that yet in Madison? I've taken my Honda there for years and when there was a problem, it seemed they always found something else to fix because they wanted to keep me "safe".
