With the new ownership of this campground, they appear to be going above and beyond to be sure their campground is updated. We chose this campground in 2015 and are so pleased that we did. The host is easy to work with but assures that all the campers are treated well and the owner continues to improve the campground. We love having the entire Chain O'Lakes at our disposal. The golf course is just down the road, so when we have guests they an golf also. Several of their docks are new and improved. Also, having the Tiki Bar so close offers food and a fun place to hang out if you just need something different. It was absolutely the right choice for us.

(Bagley Rapids Campground)…read more One of the best campgrounds in the state, in my opinion. This is a semi-wilderness campground, and that's why I love it so much. No electricity is provided, something I love about this place, but you can pump fresh water from the well, and outhouse toilets are on site. The best sites are along the river, but only a few of them offer any real privacy or seclusion. Site 21 has the thickest surrounding vegetation and offers the best privacy of any site along the river. However, if being on the river is not as important to you as it is to some, the sites along the back loops offer the most privacy, and most people choose not to use those sites. On more than one occasion I arrived to find all the river sites full and had to stay in one of the back sites. Most of the time I was the only camper in the back loop, giving me the ultimate feeling of being truly alone. The rapids offer some great swimming in certain areas, but fishing on the river doesn't offer much. I also wouldn't recommend floating down the river, especially not along the campsites. There are areas along the river that are potentially very dangerous or deadly if you are not a good swimmer, so I advise caution at all times. Bagley also offers some fantastic hiking trails for those of you who love to be out in the thick of it. I would advise against wearing shorts if you decide to hike through any part of the forest that is not a trail. Poison oak and poison ivy are everywhere. If you are looking for an extremely peaceful and relaxing camping trip, one where you're not surrounded by campers, RV's, and loud annoying music, then I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Unlike Boundary Waters, a gentle, inviting woodland, however, the infernal combustion engine arrived long ago. The campsites are thankfully primitive. There are, to my knowledge, no rip off 'family' type campsites, the crash commercialism of which has become so widespread in recent years.

Each time we encountered staff (from the reservation phone call to check-in to a stop in the office for ice) they were friendly. The campground itself is pretty small and seems to be new. There isn't a lot of shade or privacy here but once the trees fill in, they'll offer more cover. There is a small office onsite that opens at 8a and offers snacks, ice and firewood for purchase. There is also complimentary coffee which was nice. We were told there was a cell phone booster at the office but we had a REALLY hard time getting service, even with that. One-stall bathrooms are available and they were insanely clean (and air conditioned!). Showers are available (a $2 donation is requested) but when my husband went to use them Sunday morning they were either closed or someone was hogging them for over 20 minutes . This was before the 8a office open time so it's possible they were just closed. There is a man-made water pond with inflatables for the kids. We don't have children ourselves so we stayed pretty clear of that and the nearby playground. Yard games are offered for guests as well but we didn't use them. They have an area for "dog exercise" but it's not that big and it's very close to other campsites - not totally sure what the purpose is but it's a nice gesture. The campground was very quiet when we were there - not even half full. Between the heat and being the weekend before the 4th, I'm sure that had something to do with it. We did notice they had a handful of permanent sites here. We would definitely camp here again.

Simply the most beautiful spot in all of Wisconsin. This park has a nice campground along the…read morePeshtigo River, and the park itself has trails snaking all over. Stop in here for a breathtaking view of the Peshtigo from one of the picturesque foot bridges that criss cross the numerous islands and side channels and the entrance of Swamp Creek into the Peshtigo. The islands themselves have quaint little cabins that can be used to protect your food from the insects and the elements during a summer picnic, party, or family reunion. There are numerous grills and firepit/grills with chimneys. These things are so cool! The park looks like it should be teaming with trout because it is home to every type of prime trout habitat. Within 100 yards there are rapids, riffles, pools, runs, pocket water, sand and boulder structure, timber, and more. However, I have yet to ever see much less hook into anything. But it is nice to enjoy such a beautiful scene. There is a trail that connects this park to Goodman Park. Be careful to go left when nearing the beaver dam, as the trail skirts the damn, and it is treacherous if you are in a hurry.

However, when I finally stopped, I was extremely surprised to see that it has an beautiful beach area, hiking trails, Arboretum, and some of the best mountain biking trails around! Seriously- the biking was fun! Everything was clean, clearly marked and ready for recreation. I did not camp but walked through the camping grounds and thought everything looked natural, spacious and they even have some small cabins for rent. I will definitely be back!

At first glance this place this campground seems quite nice; nice spacious level sites, with…read moreelectric. you aren't shoe horned in on top of each other and you really can't hear one another. the bathrooms by us are plenty big enough with separate individual showers. you have a typical dump and fill station on your way into your site, which is also where you'll find the garbage dumpsters. this place is clean and pretty well manicured. some easy little hiking trails to boot. our site is quite well developed and plenty of shade. The bad on our first day our new cooler was stolen, my husband had some one banging on the shower door like they were the police, and it felt like someone was outside our camper while I was alone and showering. (Antigo has quite the theft problem, so if you value you anything you have, chain it down or lock it up) The woman at the office while empathetic to our plight and apologetic, did advise me the other folks had made complaints about noise and that she would advise Tom of what happened and even asked if we wanted to give her a description of the cooler. It was our fault we should have locked it up, we wont make that mistake again. We however no longer feel comfortable here and feel pressured to not be gone long... which is sad. The showers are cleanish..the same hair was on the same soap dispenser for at least two days and the pressure is to hard and the heads are not adjustable... you'll need at minimum 2 dollars in quarters to get at best an 8-10 min shower. ps there is no buzzer or audible noise in any of the showers to let you know to add more money. Which btw is not posted on their website or the mailer form I had to fill out not on their website... so bring quarters if you want to shower in theirs. While I'm thankful I have a shower in my camper; it's not a full hook up campground; which means you'll need to fill your tanks hook up, dump maybe more than once if you are a party of more than 2. When I checked out and asked them if anyone found my soap and shampoo, he asked what brand it was and then scratched his neck, looked away and said "nope never heard of that" not sure about you but I'm a fan of body language... I'm not sorry to be leaving this place. This place reminded me very quickly of the fact that the northwoods folks are very nice and polite to one another as they know each other, but once they see your out of state vehicles plates out comes the rude behavior. The only way I'd recommend this place is if you are local to wisconsin only.

I called the owner twice; once to make the initial reservation and once when we were checking in for the weekend. She answered promptly both times. She was very accommodating getting us to our site on Friday afternoon and offered to deliver firewood. They require you to purchase the wood onsite ($7 for a 5 gallon bucket) which would be fine if it was dry. Unfortunately it wasn't and it just smoked us out. The campground is much bigger than you'd expect when you pull in. All of the sites are shaded and offer privacy. The shower house and bathrooms were very clean. I didn't actually use the showers but was told they are free. There are quite a few permanent sites but I didn't find the golf cart usage to be overwhelming like you find at other grounds with a large permanent site presence. All the other campers were quiet and respectful. All campsites offer water and electric. We will absolutely camp here again. My only reasons for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the cost ($40/night) and the wet firewood.

Grounds are well maintained and facilities are super clean. If you have kids this place is better than Disney! So much to do, for the entire family. Even the dogs have a play park! Prices are still the same but services are less this year- they used to have movie nights and bingo but not this year. Also, less inflatables in the pond for the kids to play on. They do have a washing machine and dryer on site to wash your clothes, this is really nice when you get in a jam. There are ATV trails that lead right from the campground also. Eagle River is a great spot to spend to enjoy some of Wisconsin's beautiful up north. The 4th of July parade is the most fun parade you will ever experience!! We will definitely come back. Hope they can bring the moves and bingo back, our kids loved it.

However, everyone was nice and we were fortunate enough to have had a decent enough time.

She takes great care of the cabins and always has great suggestions when you ask her about anything local from food to activities. The property is great for walks and there's some horses and donkeys to check out too. Our dogs always feel at home on the ranch. We love to ride ATV trails and Spur of the Moment has trail access. You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. The Ranch is not only good to ATV'ers it's VERY horse friendly. On a busy weekend you can have all types of guests and on every trip we've done it's never mattered what you're into, people are just friendly. It's flat out relaxing.
