Best little BBQ place around Somervell and Bosque county. Maybe even the entire state.

Very good and great people to do business with. Be sure and grab banana pudding if they haven't run out.

We bought two meat plates and the BBQ potato. The potato was by far the best meal of the day. Nailed it. Portion sizes were great overall! The meat plate BBQ was alright. The issue we had was with the sides. I had mac and cheese and the potato salad. I will say, everything felt and tasted homemade. However, I feel like the chef is trying a little too hard to get authentic flavors. Let the BBQ be the star and give us some old-fashioned mustard potato salad and normal mac. Both of my sides tasted strange. They had a weird aftertaste, kind of sour or old, not sure. I never throw out food, but I didn't take the leftovers with me. My last critique is the actual BBQ sauce. It also tasted original and homemade but seemed to be trying too hard to be different. It almost felt like a tangy, sweet salsa or puree. Keep it simple, or perhaps offer choices between a general sweet traditional BBQ sauce and your homemade version. Giving it 4 stars until we visit and try again.

The restaurant is a decent size, but probably not so great for larger parties (10+). We were greeted right away by our waitress and she was very kind and attentive throughout our entire meal. We were told the restaurant was out of particular menu items, so if you're going later in the day we'd recommend calling beforehand or asking right away. To drink I got myself a "Crown and Coke" and ordered the "Pan Seared Chicken" as my entree. The Pan Seared Chicken was DELICIOUS. The plate consisted of: an 8 oz Airline Chicken Breast, served with mashed potatoes, pearl onions, wild arugula all soaked with a Espelette Beurre Blanc. The seasoning in the chicken was so flavorful and the skin on the chicken was cooked perfectly crispy. The beurre blanc elevated all of the other components of the dish and it left me wanting more. Absolutely delicious. Aside from the delicious food and wonderful service the ambience also contributed to our experience--multiple TVs with sporting events playing and live music on a small stage. Overall we had an amazing experience, highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back if we are ever in the area!!!

We loved the rustic charm and friendly service. I ordered a ribeye which had an excellent flame grilled flavor. Sadly, that was the only thing that had flavor. My Brussels sprouts tasted bland and barely cooked, Mac and cheese wanted to be good, but missed the mark. My wife a wagyu burger that looked like a burger but lacked any flavor. The homemade fries were soggy and squishy. Dessert was a cookie skillet with vanilla ice cream and a chocolate swirl cheesecake. Do you remember having covid where food lost all taste? You knew what you were eating, but tasted nothing? Unfortunately that was our meal . Staff were lovely, peppy and full of joy. Sadly it didn't seep over into the food. I'm looking forward to coming back to glen rose to explore more, it just won't be here.

It is a small operation putting out a high quality product in a small town environment. Everyone that works there is so nice and personable. So we found the place with Yelp and I am a sucker for small bbq places. We walked in and were greeted as we entered the door by two very nice women. They gave us instructions on how the ordering works and told us the Thursday special. Loaded backed potato. We chose the fillings and the meat. It was the tater, dessert and drink for $15. We had seen the size of the potato already and chose to split it, had it made with fatty brisket, and of course a 1/4 lb of sausage. We took our order up to the window and met the namesake of the restaurant, but by we did not know it then. The options in that simple dish was great. Again, fatty brisket, we did sliced on the side, we actually got both jalepeno and cheese, as well as regular smoked sausage. The sweet tea was great, not too sweet, perfect for my tastes. They insisted on carrying the tray out for us. Epic- the brisket was tender, juicy and perfectly smoked. The bark was great, had a touch of spice on the back end. The sausage was perfect. Honestly, I never asked for Bbq sauce, never needed it. The owner came out later, struck up a conversation. Let us know future menu items of which I am looking forward to. The banana pudding was sweet, but good. They are moving in a few days, but just around the corner. I look forward to stopping in again at their new location and new menu items. Just throwing this out as a recommendation for a future option: To go with the real potato fries that you are adding, consider adding fatty brisket on top, cover in shredded cheddar with a little pico and sour cream as well as jalapeños. Just a thought. Good luck!!!

I had a three meat plate. Sausage, brisket, and pork shoulder. Sausage was tasty, served at the perfect temperature, and not greasy. Brisket was moist and full of flavor. Pork shoulder was tasty, as well, but a bit dry, perhaps a bit overcooked, which is why I'm only giving this place four stars. Regardless, it is certainly worth stopping in. I had greens and green beans which were very good. I thought the barbecue sauce was delicious!

We tried the brisket and the regular sausage, Mac n cheese, and the beans. The sausage was great. The brisket was lacking in flavor and was very fatty, bf barely touched it. And the Mac and cheese seemed more watery than anything, maybe we just came towards the end of the day? The service was excellent and they were very nice. The ambiance was ok, open seating, relaxed, and very clean. If you're passing through on a trip or long work day, I would recommend the sausage and beans with the spicy sauce. reason for the two stars is that I've had much better bbq, I need to see that the whole motorcycle gang is parked out front or else you have some work to do.
