Great little find! Friendly, character filled and some of the best tasting food in town. Visiting Whitney I feel like I found "my" go to place. They are not open every day.....which is the ONLY thing I've found here I don't like. Great service and even better home cooking. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This is my second visit since the restaurant's most recent ownership change. Had Sunday brunch first visit. One of my friends doesn't eat eggs and asked if she could have a menu item that included eggs, a meat and breakfast potatoes. She asked if the eggs could be left off. She was told NO, so she then just ordered a bread and coffee. I don't understand the waitress response because we weren't asking to deduct the cost of the eggs! She just doesn't eat eggs! Turns out they were out of breakfast potatoes and wanted to bring us french fries instead. We declined. Really.....nothing special about this breakfast and very expensive and disappointing service. The only positive was the restaurant looks nice. Decided to give the restaurant another chance and went for lunch. Had soup and salad. I really only wanted a cup of soup, but that was not possible. Had a very good strawberry and watermelon salad and a giant bowl of corn bisque swimming in oil on top. Very unpalatable. Told the waitress and all I was offered was that they would tell the chef. The salad was $16 and the soup was uneaten and cost me $14! They did bring me the standard Stagecoach hush puppies before my meal and they were delicious! When I had heard the restaurant would be managed by the owners of Monument Cafe I was so excited. I love Monument, but this restaurant is too expensive for the poor quality of food. I would love to have the menu at Monument at this restaurant. The only positive is that the remodel of the restaurant is lovely in appearance. I wouldn't mind the prices if the food was delicious and it was not. I won't return nor will I recommend to my friends. Very disappointing.

Though I can't remember my server's name, she was truly exceptional.. attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. Now onto the food: I had the salmon salad (with extra pickled onions) and the smoky corn chowder. The salmon was cooked perfectly juicy, tender, and flavorful. The chowder was bold and rich, with a smoky depth that made each spoonful better than the last. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just in the area, this spot is worth a visit. From the time we sat until our food arrived was just over 50 minutes. This by itself will probably lead me to choose a different hotel in the future because no one has that kind of time at breakfast. I want to be very clear that this isn't a criticism of the guy who was working front of house. He had absolutely no help and was the lone server for nine tables and had to bring things out from the kitchen and had to walk across the hall to get everyone's coffee orders. Super hard-working and probably underappreciated.

First it looked so cool and the avocado was the base and instead of the creamy egg it was a chick pea cream with some salt and seasoning. It was topped with onion straws. OMG it was really good. I really loved it and the texture was similar to deviled egg. For my main dish, I got a fresh kale salad with ranch dressing. It also had chick peas croutons. The ranch was light and very good. The kale was crisp and the chickpea croutons were unique and crispy. It was large enough for two. I also ordered a side of fresh cut fries which were cut thin. It was crispy and lightly salted. I can't skip in ordering fries especially if they look good. And looks matched the taste. The service was great and she kept checking on us. She knew every ingredient of all the dishes we asked about. It was amazing ! We will be back when we are back in Dallas.
