Used to be really great a few years back. We have been eating there prob 12-15 years now and today's visit was by far the LEAST DESIRABLE!!!! Last time I was there i ordered the 1 meat plate (ribs) - I got 3 ribs - ok was great tasting as usual . Today I thought well I will order the 2 meat plate so I will prob get 3-4 decent size ribs - NOPE!!!! Only got 2 medium size ribs and a super small portion of sauce , had to ask for another. Taste was on point as usual but I have to admit I will not be going very often if any after that. I realize food prices have went up drastically but don't cut the portion sizes as well. read more

We were staying at Rough Creek Ranch and this was literally the closest restaurant to it other than the one on the premises. We heard pretty good things so we decided to try it out. Place was really busy, which was a good sign, the waitress was really nice. Food was a little disappointing for how much the staff talked up the bbq. Maybe we came on an off date. The beans dish I got was super heavy and bland; no taste at all. The hush puppy I got with it was the best tasting thing. The appetizer was ehhh; edible but wouldn't order it again. This is one of those spots. I like to tell people it's like the movie Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come. Getting to Loco Coyote, if you've never been, or if you're from the city, might seem like you're taking a road to the middle of nowhere. Then around the corner you see 500 people eagerly awaiting some bigger than your face delicious food, a live band, and a cold beer. The number of memories I have from the years of going out here is more than I can count. First of all, this place is like family for me. I've been going here to watch three different owners run the place. All of which I loved. Do I have favorites? Of course. Will I tell you?! Only over a drink. Right now the current owners and staff are absolutely amazing. They are adding new things to the menu and improving every day. The atmosphere - guys, it's a little hidden oasis of Texas vibes. Bring your kids, because they can run around outside and play basketball, throw a football, or just be kids! There are car meets, biker meets, and generally some good ol folks out there all the time. They have an excellent bar, with live music on the weekends. They also have inside seating. There are picnic tables with engravings all over the inside of the restaurant from those who have come and fell in love with this place. You'll find my name and many of my friends names if you look hard enough. I have so many great things to say about their food, and it's only been getting better. They now have specials on the weekends that are too die for. You can't go wrong with my go-to's - Jack Daniels BBQ Burger or the Howling Coyote. The Brisket Tacos are super amazing, and so is just about everything else. The Coyote Balls are a must-get for an app. If you go, please tell the owners that Pierce sent you. So today, our group came in with about 30+ cars and let them know well ahead of time. The plan was to cruise in, eat and cruise out. Well, that didn't go according to plan at all, mainly because management didn't set the server up for success. Not sure what decision making process was involved, but you don't give one server 30+ people to wait on. We got there at around 11:30a and when i bailed out on the second half of the cruise at 1:15p, there was still one table that didn't have food. The poor girl was doing her best with what she had, so this is no fault of hers, so i tipped her well. Management, here's a little tip from the restaurant business that you can apply to your service model. It's one server per 10 guests, so things like this don't happen. Server 1: takes drinks orders and starts making drinks. Server 2: comes around and takes food orders, splits checks and prints all of the checks. Server 3: helps run drinks, side salads, refill drinks, and eventually helps run food out of the kitchen as it's ready. Yes, side salads are an out first item. Server 1: comes back around and asks about desert, if no, drop all checks. All servers pay out guest. Do not let food sit in the window, bring it out as it's ready. That way EVERYONE gets hot food. The food today would have been 10 times better hot. Last thing, what was the thought process behind the restrooms? The women have 4 toilets and the men have three troughs to pee in. What if the men have to take a dump? Do we poop in the trough or use one of the women's toilets? If we get to use toilets, then there needs to be signage that says it's allowed. Don't want a woman yelling at me when i walk out. Today's lunch should have been 45 minutes to an hour, front to back, not over 3 hours. read more

I debated whether to write this review, as my family has been long-standing customers going back to the original Hammonds. The food has always been outstanding, which is why this visit was so disappointing--especially since we were there just a few months ago. The onion rings, which we order every visit, tasted different and had very little batter, mostly just cooked onion slices. The catfish had to be sent back because it was soggy and slimy, the okra was hard, and my baked potato was very small for a $15 meal with almost no toppings. We also noticed that several items had been removed from the menu. It's unfortunate to say, but this experience fell far below what we've come to expect. Spending over $100 on a meal that wasn't enjoyable was extremely disappointing, and we left wishing we had chosen somewhere else. read more

Great atmosphere! I do believe this restaurant is a destination place to eat. Located In Glen Rose, Texas. The food here is absolutely amazing and portions are ginormous. Caters to families and groups. Live music on weekends. I reccomend the PIG OUT. You get a sampling of their best brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage, and my favorite the catfish! We eat here twice a year for girls' weekend. We went one recent Friday evening. We love the atmosphere & location. However, we were disappointed this time in the onion rings and service. They changed the recipe for the breading on the onion rings and they aren't as tasty. We had to get up and get our own red and tartar sauces. Disappointing experience all around, especially for a place that used to be a weekend destination. Service was painfully slow. I ordered a pitcher of beer and watched it sit on the bar for at least 10 minutes getting warm before I finally walked up and grabbed it myself. Not exactly what you expect when the restaurant is nearly empty. Speaking of empty--this was around 1:00 PM on a beautiful Sunday, and the place was a ghost town. Maybe a quarter of the tables were occupied, and for the first time ever, there were no motorcycles in the parking lot. That alone says a lot. The menu has been cut by about half, with many items no longer available. One of the biggest disappointments was the brisket tacos, which used to be one of the best things on the menu. Now they're barely recognizable--no coleslaw, no sauce, just oily cheese and a few chunks of brisket fat. Nothing about it was edible. This used to be a fun spot to ride out to on a motorcycle, grab good food, and enjoy the atmosphere. We've been riding out about once a month, but after this visit, we'll probably sit it out and see if the place even makes it through 2026 before considering another try. read more

Our waitress, Lilly, was amazing! The food, nothing to come back for. It used to be a great place to eat but no longer. Whatever you do don't ask for your steak or burgers to be medium, they only know well done. Yes, it was sent back to return well-done. Again, Lilly was wonderful. Doubt we'll ever be back. Two out of two trips for mediocre food and lack of care for customer experience from the kitchen is not worth the drive. The group we were with found their bbq was dry, sausage rather bland. My wife, a friend and myself went to Loco Coyote today December 28 2025 like we have probably for the last 12-14 years. We arrived about 12:15 and were put on a wait list which was not unusual for this time of the day. We were then seated and about 25 minutes later, a lady came by for our drink order and asked if we were ready to order. We immediately said yes and were told they were out of catfish, brisket and ribeyes. My wife always ordered either catfish or grilled shrimp. Since they were out of catfish, she ordered grilled shrimp. " We don't do grilled shrimp anymore" the waitress said. My wife then said she would only have pinto beans. I ordered ribs like I always have with potato salad and beans. My friend ordered onion rings for an appetizer with ribs as well. The food came out about 20 minutes later and he was told the onion rings would be right there. After we had all finished our food, the onion rings come and were hastily dropped on the table. when she came back by on the way to the kitchen, she was asked for some ranch dressing. About 10 minutes later, she came by and said "we don't have any ranch dressing". I have never worked in nor owned a restaurant, so I am simply guessing here, but I don't think that if other customers experience a scenario such as this along with price increases along with smaller portions, the restaurant will ultimately fail. read more

This is about an hour away from me but was well worth the drive. Get out of the city and enjoy this indoor/outdoor eatery and venue. Tons of bikers who road through the scenic drive there. They play live music at times but I didn't make it at that time. Beware this is a non ac'd eatery. Meaning you are going to sweat for a Texas summer visit and also may get the meat sweats. There were 6 of us and we ordered the pig out for 6. We quickly came to the conclusion that the pig out for 4 would have been enough and they're were 3 gals and 3 guys eating from it. The Bloody Mary was good. Skip the queso it's not worth it though. It's like some tostinos canned tasting cheese dip. If you're going to eat bad I say make it worth the calories. We drove from Dallas to Glenn Rose just for the BBQ and as usual it did not disappointed!! If you're in the area, you MUST stop by this place! After a long hike at Dinosaur Valley State Park, we built up quite an appetite, and Loco Coyote Grill was nearby, so we went to try it out. I'll admit driving to the place you kinda start to worry about where you are going, but once you get there, it's a hidden gem! We walked into the bar and asked the staff how the seating worked. We learned that on the far left of the building is the bar area where you can get drinks and chips with salsa and the right side of the building is the restaurant. One of the staff members was nice enough to go check us in at the hostess stand, and within about 10 minutes, we were seated. Our waitress was very sweet and answered any questions we had. We placed our orders and waited a little over 30 minutes for our food to come. Tables around us were getting their food, and it smelt so dang good that it was hard to wait. Once the food came though, it was well worth it. They have pretty decent bbq here, we both really enjoyed our brisket, and their bbq is on the sweeter side but has a good complimenting flavor to the brisket. The potato salad was a little heavy with mayo for my taste, but our waitress was kind enough to bring me some mustard to add. Their fried okra was my favorite part of the meal. Their batter was crunchy and a perfect thin coat to not overpower the okra. The only thing I would say was a tiny bummer during the visit was my drink from the bar, I got a Mexican Mule, and it had a weird aftertaste. read more
