We have finally found an activity my son (age 4) truly loves--thanks to WeBreak! Went to support my nephew Finn, and watching him learn the fundamentals and stretching while breakdancing was exciting and fun. Makes me want to join in on the fun haha. The coaches and staff were wonderful with the kids and were patient with each move while making sure the kids kept at it. My son had jumped around to several sports and activities, but once we found WeBreak, he was committed. Coach Dom and Coach Steven are incredible teachers. They maintain a positive environment while still pushing the kids to work hard and set goals for themselves to get better. My son has been taking classes with them for almost three years now with no signs of stopping. The class he is currently in has a mix of kids aged 6ish to 12ish and I've never seen middle school kids treat younger kids with such respect and positivity. It takes a lot to put yourself out there and learn to dance and find your own style. The teachers set such a great tone of constructive feedback but don't tolerate kids putting other kids down or making fun, and it shows with how welcoming and supportive the older kids are to the newer kids. I went looking for a breakdancing class for my 4 year old and was unbelievably fortunate to find WeBreak local in Inglewood on Saturday mornings. My kid loves it and the coaches are so attentive and patient with all of that energy from the students. Not only are they learning a useful outlet for that energy, but they're getting an education in the classics at the same time! My kid knows lyrics to James Brown songs now, and that by itself is priceless. They've got locations all around LA county too, and the recitals at the end of the sessions were incredible. My son was so excited to try break dancing! Something he had been naturally good at without lessons. We went with the Costa Mesa location and began the classes.. initially everything was going good. During the 2 month program (approximately) the instructor notified us he'd be gone for multiple weeks within that timeframe, giving us an opportunity to make up classes when he got back. Upon his return, we were attempting to make up these classes that we had paid for but we were unable to use during his absence. During these make up classes clearly the instructor came back in a different mood, I do not believe that this gentleman is adequate to be around children. He bullied my child, and in a sense "checked him ". This man has zero experience, dealing with children and asked my child not to come back to his classes. classes that I had paid for him to go to when my son came back he was so embarrassed he didn't even feel comfortable telling me. I found out the following week right before practice. he told me mom the instructor said I couldn't come back didn't he call you? I was completely astonished what kind of teacher would tell a young seven-year-old that he's not allowed to come back to dance class? What's even more unfortunate about this is this was something that my son was very excited for and this inadequate staff member has absolutely ruined the entire idea of breakdancing because he was so humiliated being asked not to come to class as a seven-year-old!!!!!! My son has been in a private faith-based education system since he was three years old. He has always gotten awards for being the kind child and sticking up for kids that are being bullied. He has never been reprimanded for being unkind to other children and this is the claim that the teacher falsely made in an attempt to justify his extremely poor behavior. When I spoke to the owner, I was a bit shocked for One that he was a business owner based upon how he handled it and his inability to take accountability for his own staff member. Instead, he made up excuses and more so lent to believing the staff member that kicked out a small child from his dance class. Apparently multiple kids were high energy that class and goofing around, and the instructor clearly has no experience and how to manage children that are goofing around. My child explained that other children would not leave him alone and he was trying to concentrate. I have all the videos to prove as we video the classes throughout , my child was not misbehaving and the instructor completely lied to cover up his extremely poor behavior when speaking to the owner I assumed that I would get a call from the instructor apologizing instead I got a very pathetic text message that he clearly considered an apology. Following that, I assumed that the owner would be making up for this, considering that I had not gotten my moneys worth with the two month program as the teacher was gone for multiple weeks and then did not allow my child to make up these missed classes that the teacher was gone for . As a business owner myself, I was just shocked and appalled at this entire experience. It's really scary that there are people around children that should be nowhere near them. I'd even asked for a private instructor with somebody different so that my son could continue through this program and never heard back nor did I get any sort of compensation for all of the classes. read more

Our daughter has been going to WeBreak since May 2022. This organization is just simply the best at teaching kids fundamental dance skills, and building confidence. The breaking community is very welcoming, and within each level there is a great support network. The coaches, parents, and other b-boys and b-girls enjoy the time together. I wanted this to be a great experience, but it was just OK. If you are looking for a program for 3 year olds, I would look for a different dance class. The dance coach was kind, but I believe more could have been done to help the three year olds, with lots of energy, to stay in place. It was expected of them to stay in one spot, but they were all over the place. He learned a couple of dance moves which was nice. I just feel that for the price, there could have been a bit more structure. For example, some visuals, spots for them to stand, shorter sentences and questions they could understand. It was $160 for 7 classes, and they would go for about 45 minutes. The main dance battles are separate too; you have to pay for them. This 3-5 year old class is good if you have an older 4 year old or 5 year old. They probably understand more than the 3 year olds. ‍ read more

We found Brian's break dance class on Groupon for a trial class. It was the greatest thing that we did for our son. Instead of tablets, tv and video games we found something that my son enjoys while getting the exercise he needs. Brian and all of his Instructors are not only great with kids but are great role models as well. Thank you, Yelpers! I found Brian while cruising Yelp. I needed an experienced, kid-friendly teacher to show my son how to breakdance (he'd been persistently reminding me just about every day for months to find classes for him). Long story short, I found Brian on Yelp, but noticed that his studio is in Long Beach, with kid classes on weeknights. Sigh... We live in LA and had no way to make it to the LBC during the week. I called Brian and was able to arrange for one-on-one lessons at his studio and/or in our home. We have to pay for his mileage, but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!! My son has had a couple lessons and I can already see his moves (which were a little shaky) improving. He even looks forward to practicing every night, so that he's ready for his next class. My impression of Brian is that he has a lot of positive energy and is extremely encouraging to beginners. He has a lot of patience with my little guy, but also knows how to challenge him to do better. I would highly recommend Brian to anyone looking to tap into their inner Shabba Doo. read more

Good luck trying to find a better B-Boy/ Breakin' class out there!! I took We-Break's "Break Dance 101's" 4 class Special through Amazon's Deal Finder..The studio is located in downtown Long Beach!! I learned so much in the short time frame and at my own pace.. From "Top-rocking" to Footwork", Brian explains everything step-by-step so there was no confusion.. so i was able to pick up the steps very fast. Everybody in this class was very encouraging! there are no "Tough guys" in this class so you will feel welcomed and comfortable from day one!! Brian has true passion for the Art of Breaking... and teaching! The best part was there wasn't a whole bunch of lecturing.. The class flows at a really good pace- from warm ups to drills to steps..so before you know it your ripping up the dance floor!! (not to mention an awesome workout!!) I highly recommend this Dance Academy to anyone who always wanted to "break" but didn't know how to start or where to learn!! Super excited that this company started a class in our neighborhood! My 4 year old son took the last 7 class session and looooved it. Our instructor Chris was so good with the kids. He made it super fun but also had a good structure to the class and the kids listened really well. And they even had a recital where all the different age groups performed. So fun.
