Cute little ice cream shop! Great service, fantastic ice cream. You can tell that they put the care into their craft. I love that you can try samples and the split scoop concept for when you're not feeling a whole scoop of just one flavor. The ice cream sandwiches are where it's at though.
We stopped at Weckerly's in a desperate attempt to escape the Philly heat and humidity. This summer has been BRUTAL. The dew point has been running it up like a 2006 Kobe Bryant. 35.4 points a game in 2006!? Kids these days could never understand... We walked into a pretty packed shop, as ice cream is a high dew point's only known weakness. The first flavor I locked in on was "Tomato Strawberry Sorbet w/ Candied Olives." I just stood there staring at it, rereading it. Taking it in. What kind of flavor is that?? Tomato and Strawberry together??? It was the only tub of ice cream that was untouched. Naturally, I had to try a little spoon of it. I wanted to go where no one else from the human race had gone. I felt like Neil Armstrong allegedly stepping foot on the moon. Before trying, I asked the employee how this flavor even came about. She said "I don't know, our chef just comes up with them and tries them out..." How could I not respect that? Food is such a sneaky creative endeavor. You can really have some fun with it. As the spoon approached my mouth, I was ready to cringe due to my tastebuds being violated, but it was honestly pretty fire. The light tomato flavor complimented a strong strawberry taste. Two things I would never have thought went together. There's a life lesson in there somewhere. I ended up just getting vanilla soft serve though, because that's my goto. I'm a simple guy. It was pretty mid, I should have just got a scoop of that tomato strawberry sorbet w/ candied olives but hindsight is always 20/20. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
New scoop shop of a wonderful Philly-made business. You will be drawn in by the smell of freshly pressed waffle cones and wowed by their unique ice cream flavors. I tried their Dubai Chocolate and, not to be dramatic, but it was life-changing. In addition to dairy scoops, they also have pints, plenty of vegan options, sorbets, ice cream sandwiches and coffee. I like the flow and spaciousness of this new shop. It's bright inside and primely located on the corner of 16th and Spruce. Since they just opened, service is friendly but a little disorganized (to be expected). I was happy they kindly and happily accommodated samples even though there was a long line. Scoops are on the pricey end but it's premium! I look forward to returning once the crowds cool down. This is going to be a busy shop.
One of my fave places. First knew about them when they were only a food cart. Then they started distributing at green line cafe, then they had their shop. Closed their shop, then someone else bought their shop and brought its glory back. During an earlier Yelp Elite series, I have a hard time deciding between Weckerley's, Milk Jawn, and Harper's. I love all of them but Weckerley's gets a slight edge for me. I only give them 4 stats because I think they need a clause on their website and IG that says that hours are subject to change. I can respect that a business wants to close early on a non-weekend and non-Friday if they aren't making a lot or don't have enough help but then put that in. I even tried to call today and the phone was too busy and I had to take my chances for the drive. Some of the fast food places have amounted to closing shop early because of lack of help and this reminded me that maybe times have changed and I am getting old. There is minimal seating but it is enough. Good food is important to me but so is reasonable accessibility.
FOOD We had their chai and fudge brownie flavors. Both were incredibly rich and creamy. The spices of the chai were exceptional and blended well-- the cinnamon and cloves powerful punches without overdoing it. The brownie flavor was rich and a little bit on the sweeter side than I personally would have liked it, and the brownie pieces added a great chewy texture to the smoothness of the ice cream. I'd definitely be back to try their sandwiches if in the area again! SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. We tried a couple samples before selecting the flavors for our order. I would definitely mention if you have allergies as they simply rinse the spoons between scooping flavors. AMBIANCE There is limited seating (by window or under menu) available inside the shop. People usually ordered and ate outside at the bench in front of the store or standing. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.
Stop by for Yelp Elite event. I was little bit early on Saturday morning before 12 but they still offered me the ice cream. I chose the Strawberry Shortcake and it was delicious. I was picking up my daughter to come home for the weekend. We both enjoyed the ice cream!
I had been meaning to try Weckerly's Ice Cream for some time because one of my friends touted it as his favorite place to get ice cream in Philly. So my husband and I decided to grab an after dinner treat after having had dinner at Cheu Fishtown, which is in walking distance. Weckerly's is a small shop with limited seating (one circular table of cocktail table height and window seating with two chairs), which is nice to nab if you can, especially if the weather outside is too cold or too hot. Because it was quite chilly outside when we went, my husband and I grabbed the window seating to do some people watching while we enjoyed our ice cream sandwiches. I ordered the Apple Breakfast, which was cinnamon toasted oat ice cream with house made apple butter between wheat-free oatmeal cookies. I liked that the ice cream wasn't too sweet because sometimes, with ice cream shops that mix a lot of different flavors into their ice cream, the ice cream can sometimes be too decadent and/or overly sweet. The inclusion of the apple butter gave the ice cream sandwich a nice balance with the slightly tart, slightly sweet flavor. And I am a huge fan of all the different textures at play: the jammy texture of the apple butter combined with the creamy ice cream nestled between two thin, chewy cookies. My husband ordered the Cook's Coffee Cake, which was Caphe Roasters' Coffee ice cream topped with chocolate ganache and coffee cake crumb between cinnamon sugar cookies. I don't like chocolate nor am I a coffee drinker so I didn't try much of his ice cream sandwich but I do like coffee flavored desserts so I decided to try a bit of the ice cream. The coffee flavor was very strong so if you like to drink coffee, this ice cream sandwich might be right up your alley. Some things to note: The ice cream sandwiches are quite large so I would recommend sharing them with someone or inquiring about the Mini Ice Cream Sandwich. Also, their partner, Lil Pop Shop recently closed their storefront but Weckerly's still sells their popsicles so something to keep in mind if you are in the mood for a different kind of frozen treat. Lastly, they change up their flavor offerings regularly so keep an eye on their Instagram (@weckerlys) for any updates. Would I go back? : Maybe but probably not. If anything, I might stop in for a Lil Pop Shop pop. Weckerly's Ice Cream's ice cream consistency is very creamy and rich, which I don't personally prefer. I'm more partial to the consistency of Milk Jawn's ice cream and their flavor variety. But this is purely my personal preferences which is why Weckerly's is more accurately a 3.5 for me. Although, I can see why they're a community favorite, having seen several people come in on a winter's night during the short period of time I was there enjoying my ice cream sandwich.
Walked into this cute, small ice cream shop located near all the bars and restaurants in Fishtown, making it the perfect dessert stop! We snagged two scoops of their specialty summer flavors, the blueberry crumble and raspberry graham cracker. Both flavors were fresh and fruity, yet not too sweet. Service was quick and staff was friendly! Highly recommend for a refreshing lil treat!
Weckerly's is the best. Stopped in on a Saturday around 5pm and was SO excited to try one of their ice cream sandwiches for the first time. I went with the turtle power sandwich that includes caramel swirl sweet cream ice cream & butter pecan sweet cream ice cream with cocoa cookie crumble on chocolate cookies with pecans (yes I did copy paste that from the website so I could recall every sweet detail and ooooooo baby did it deliver!) Honestly a can't miss experience in Fishtown. Take it and go for a walk or enjoy inside of their small storefront. Will be stopping by whenever I am in Fishtown and look forward to many more Weckerly's trips.
With all the amazing ice cream shops in Philly, it's tough to stand out. I would say Weckerlys is Mid. It's not the best but it's average. It's also going to face some competition now that more ice cream shops are opening in Fishtown so I don't think I will return. Prices are average, service is solid, ice cream is OK.

Philadelphia has several excellent small batch ice cream platforms for your tasty enjoyment. Weckerly's on Girard Avenue in Fishtown, is one of them. I was recently there for a Yelp Event where we sampled a scoop of one of two available flavors. It was smooth, silky, sweet and addictive. In addition, I purchased a take home Classic Sandwich (Vanilla ice cream between Chocolate Wafers), which was even more compelling that the Graham Berry concoction tasted while in the house. The sandwich was thick with 'scream - more than an inch wide - while the choco layer was stable enough to hold the opus together and last to the very last lickin' bite. The vanilla was creamy and inviting; while the wafer offered a soft embrace with mild flavor that did not dominate their combination. Family loved it, too. Made me wish I had started with those other mixtures which were definitely the best way to experience what Weckerly's really had to showcase. Apple Breakfast, or any flavor between shortbread cookies....Are you kidding me?!?! Return visit mandatory!
It's been in my bucket list to try this place. I've enjoyed their social media. Such a perfect sunny summers day to come in for a cool treat. I got the Cloney caramel flavored ice cream. I think it's like Coney Island. In any case caramel is such a wonderful treat. I really enjoyed it just one scoop and a beautiful cone. Yummy and I would definitely come back again! Service was so welcoming and magnificent. There was just one person working by herself . So everyone was very mellow and was OK to wait their turn and treated everyone precariously & neighborly. I'm very thankful to the staff that makes this wonderful treat for us all. Thanks for taking care of everything. We went here a while ago (as you can see from the Halloween decorations) and loveeee the down-to-earth vibe of this place! First of all our scooper (we forgot her name :(( ) was very nice when we asked if we could bring our doggo inside. She then proceeded to let us try different flavors and even shared about their most popular flavors (aka get it now while we have it!!) and recommended flavor parings (yes foodie kween) It feels very homey unlike some snooty icecream places we've visited. Besides the indoors seating, it has a bench outside that you can sit and people watch! read more

I've been going to Weckerly since it first open in Fishtown. The shop is small but does have some seating. There's a to go case with pints and ice cream sandwiches. I came for the Bogo ice cream sandwiches. It was a little disappointed that only a few of the flavors were available. Seems like most of the stuff goes to the Rittenhouse location even though the Fishtowners have been supporting it from the beginning The cashier was super nice. Your ice cream sandwiches are tasty. I also love the ice cream. read more

This cute ice cream place in fishtown is located right on the main strip. The place is really tiny. There are a couple of bar seats if you did want a place to plop up. The place has the best ice cream bars I've ever had in the city. The top crust of ice cream was pretty thick and fresh. It wasn't hard to chew like some of the store bought ice cream bars. I ended up getting the Turtle Power. It was very tasty and fresh ice cream layer in the middle. I really like the chocolate crumbles on this sandwich. read more

Omg. The strawberry matcha affogato?! Literal heaven. My son grabbed the strawberry cookie ice cream sandwich, and my youngest got a coconut hibiscus ice pop- which he did NOT like. The staff let him get another flavor! The raspberry lime was a hit for him. The area is very NYC village/ Avenue of the Americas. This is a great spot to come to on a sunny, spring day like today. I love the vibe of this gem- very friendly, super cool, modern and not TOO hipster. I love this ice cream spot, and will make the 45 minute drive from my home at least once a week as a treat for my boys. read more

Weckerly's has everything from classic vanilla to more creative flavors like turmeric and beet, and it kills every single one. I especially like the ice cream sandwiches because they typically mix two flavors and stuff them between a special flavored cookie crust (choco chip? olive cake? it depends!). They also have mini versions for people that just want a bite of dessert. They have a happy hour between 4-7, where they have 20 percent off certain pints and ice cream sandwiches. I don't remember if it's every day or just weekdays. I buy whenever I want anyway. Tip: Ask for one of those little paper boat things if you plan on eating the ice cream sandwiches while you walk. They melt pretty quick when it's hot! read more
Honestly, I was disappointed by Wreckerlys. I went to the University City location, and was turned away when I tried to use my gift card. Then I had to go all the way to the Fishtown location, and they were very limited on flavors. I ended up getting some popsicles, which weren't worth the price in my opinion. People have raved about Wreckerly's but I would unfortunately have to say it did not meet my expectations. read more
This appeared to be a quality creamery, but upon arrival I found the flavor selection quite small, with less than ten total options (including one sorbet). I only got one scoop because of that, which ended up being a splendid chocolate cherry brownie combination. The cone was rather crumbly and a mild flavor that went with the ice cream, but the smell in the shop oversold it I think and it wasn't worth the $1.75 they charged for it. I stopped in on what I thought was national ice cream day to find no special promotions. Don't get me wrong; they have interesting flavors of some quality, but they were a bit limited in my eyes. read more

Amazing ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. I was just thinking the other day I wish there were some unique ice cream sandwich shop and here I am - finding the perfect store to satisfy the craving. I love how they source their ingredients locally and constantly rotates between flavors. When we were here, they had the PB&J (vegan) and the PSL (pumpkin, coffee with cinnamon cookie sandwich). I wasn't a big fan of the pumpkin and coffee mixture - they were both overly rich, and the cookies were very sweet due to the caramel sauce. The sandwich is definitely big enough to share with someone. My boyfriend loved the cookies in the sandwich because he's a sweets monster. Their unique ice cream flavor was the vanilla cardamon golden berries. You can buy it in 3 sizes (kids, single, double). This was one of the top ice cream flavor I've had although it was a bit on the sweeter side. Golden berries you rarely find in regular groceries stores but I believe Trader Joe's or whole foods sells them (also called gooseberries) They taste more like cherry tomato than berries. I'm obsessed with cardamon flavored items... which I found out is the main spice in chai tea! I'm amazed at their creativity and they don't overcharge either. This might be my favorite ice cream place so far. I really like jeni's but this is even better in my opinion. I love their homemade waffle cone and the flavors I tried were so good. Honey I shrunk the cake and roasted strawberries Both were so so so good. It didn't taste overly sweet and the flavor was so good and light. I loved it with their homemade waffle cone. I got one scoop of honey I shrunk the cake but quickly regretted it as I was eating and thought about going back for two more scoops lol. Service was amazing! The girl who helped me was sooooo friendly and I got honey I shrunk the cake cus of her recommendation :) YUM Oh after I finished the ice cream I thought the store was closed so I was a little sad but figured I can come again when I'm in the area.. as we were walking it was still open but the line was so long so I stopped myself lol. Weckerly's was on my radar for quite a while because it's sold in my local specialty store. Unfortunately, I wasn't super impressed when I finally got a chance to visit this store. The service was painfully slow (it really felt like employees were stretching things out; I thought about leaving a couple of times because the vibe in line was so awkward) and the ice cream sandwich I got (honey lavender on lemon shortbread) wasn't great. It wasn't bad, but the taste of both the ice cream and cookie left me feeling, "meh." That said, I *want* to try Weckerly's again because maybe the employees were new. Maybe, when it looked like the employees were just leisurely standing in the middle of an order, they were actually looking for something missing. It looked like there were at least two, if not three, people working, but maybe there was only one who wasn't on break. And maybe the ice cream sandwich I got just wasn't for me/part of a bad batch. Good local ice cream shop with rotating seasonal flavors! Some of the flavors sound so delicious like lavender lemon poppy seed and strawberry matcha so I would love to go back and try them. Very cute interior. Roasted strawberry and mint chip were both very refreshing, but the ice cream itself could be creamier. read more

This place is small and quaint with a limited number of ice cream options available, but the caramelized banana sounded pretty good and it was! I bet the shop gets crazy busy on hot days, but as it was a rainy evening we were able to snag the table and sit inside enjoying our scoops! read more

I tried one of the ice cream sandwiches. It was vanilla ice cream between churro like cookies. They were not very good and the sandwich was very small for the price. I was hoping for a delicious sandwich for that price. read more
