Ummmm delicious! ( I am still sitting at the table) I am from Las Cruces and now live out of town. Since Mesilla Valley Kitchen closed there has been a void in my life. When I visit I keep looking for a new great breakfast spot with a nice relaxed feel, great service, good food and, of course, a killer green chile sauce! Today I tried Weck's for the first time. I am now whole again. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and seated in the bright and inviting dining room. Our waiter, Cam, was super friendly and helpful. I ordered a breakfast burrito with the green chile sauce on top and my daughter had French toast with eggs and sausage. As I looked around at other patrons around me the food looked and smelled wonderful. Everyone went silent as soon as their food arrived, happily devouring their meals. When our food arrived we had the same experience! I took a little taste and couldn't stop (which is why my photo is of a half eaten burrito! ). My wife and I recently took our 91 year old friend living in a nursing home to one of her favorite restaurants, Weck's. We all have their $12.99 lunch special. Our senior friend had the Navajo Taco with beans, I had a taste and it was delicious. It was too big so she ended taking half home. My wife had a Christmas (half green chiles half red chiles sauce) Chicken Burrito. I had a Christmas Bean and Cheese Burrito. As part of the special a drink is included so we had their tasty coffee. Zeke was the server and he was excellent, very polite and on time refilling our cups. The food as always is great. The only observation that I don't like is that the server brought us the check without retrieving the dirty dishes from the table. The same thing happened to me last time I was there with a friend. Great breakfast spot in Las Cruces! Interior was spacious and well lit. Place was busy but we were able to grab a table fairly quickly. Our waiter was really nice and gave some great suggestions from the large menu. The prices here are very reasonable and the portions are huge! Chips were thin, warm, and perfectly salted. Salsa wasn't spicy, but still really tasty - they even sell it in jars to take home. I opted for the traditional benedict. Hollandaise was seasoned perfectly, eggs were runny, and the side of hash browns were crispy. The restaurant itself is large and filled up quick! After putting it off way too long I finally managed to get over to Weck's on University Ave to experience lunch. Inside the restaurant is bright, clean, and roomy. I was greeted at the door with a most agreeable and efficient host and led immediately to a table. The restaurant was quite busy at this hour but the service throughout my visit was outstanding. My waitress ( I believe her name was Deandria?) was exceptional. Weck's is open only for breakfast and lunch...they close at 2:00 PM. The restaurant features the usual breakfast and lunch meals: waffles, pancakes, omelettes, eggs benedict, chicken fried steak, and burgers, along with a Navajo taco and burritos. Prices are very reasonable...especially for their lunch specials. Today I ordered their lunch burrito filled with carne adovada and bathed in red sauce. It came with pinto beans in a sauce and hash browns. Despite how busy they were the time from ordering to plate on the table was quick. The food however had its disappointments. The beans were pretty tasteless and the insipid bean sauce covering them didn't help. Rate them a "C-." The hash browns were fairly good with a bit of crispness on the outer layer, BUT WHY IN THE WORLD DID THEY SLOP THEIR TERRIBLE RED SAUCE OVER THE HASH BROWNS AS WELL AS THE BURRITO??? Rate the hash browns a "B" even though they were somewhat ruined by being covered by that sauce. The carne adovada pork in the burrito was ample in portion and fairly good, but not great. It could have had more juiciness and flavor. Rate the adovada a "B." The red chile sauce over the burrito was not good at all. It was not the usual New Mex red chile sauce that we all love. Rate it a "D." As a consequence it dropped the burrito rating down to a "C" overall. All in all, this meal was a bit of a disappointment. I will say, however, the burgers being delivered to other tables did look really good. Will have to try them someday. Rate the overall dining experience this day at Weck's THREE AND THREE QUARTER STARS...meaning above average. I could see rating it higher if the food other than the burrito is as good as it looked. The food today was hit or miss, but the atmosphere was nice and the service outstanding. A well run operation. read more

Went there for lunch around 1, got my food and it was very okay. Ended up getting the stomach flu from it as it was the only different meal me and my girlfriend had all week and she was fine. I've gotten sick from the McDonald's and Dominoes right in that area and now the wecks. Not sure what they got going on in that area but it needs to be inspected because it's not ok. read more

We have eaten at Wecks dozens of times (and we don't even live in New Mexico, but have family in Las Cruces). But we will never go back. My mom ordered the Papas Original plate because she wanted two eggs. The plate shows up with about a pound of hash browns, two eggs and no meat. We asked the waitress - isn't this supposed to come with meat. She says no the original doesn't come with meat makes some reference to a dish called sloppy?? (Note - I've enclosed a copy of their papas menu, it says bacon, ham and sausage - not even "or", implying all three should be on there.). We aren't the kind to push it when a waitress is wrong, she was obviously new and didn't know the product. My mom proceeded to eat her dish and not mention it any longer. I should say she tried to eat her dish. The hash browns were so hard and over cooked that when she would try and cut into her dish to take a bite, things would crack off and go flying everywhere off her plate and onto the table. At that point a manager came by and I called him over. I asked are the potatoes supposed to be like this? They are Rick hard and inedible. He said that is how they always make them. My mom said then you should serve them on a bigger plate (it was a small lunch sized plate when the rest of our party all had large oval plates). My mom explained how the food was ending up all over the table. The manager, instead of offering to bring her a larger plate, just huffs and says well I can take this out of here. And grabs her plate and walks off. No offer to replace it with something else, just takes the plate and leaves. I have never in my life seen such a rude management reaction. The waitress I can forgive, you could tell she was new. But the manager. That's inexcusable. I would like to point out, I have never seen him before. There was a second manager working that day, and I've always seen him in the past. Unfortunately, he was not the one we engaged with. And to try and tell them apart is difficult. They are both male and both dark haired. Although I would say the rude one had darker hair and was maybe just a little bit lighter weight than the nice one. Regardless, I'll never go back. With drinks and tip (yes we tipped the waitress because we knew she was new) the bill was close to $100 for breakfast for 4 people. To spend that kind of money and be treated that poorly by management staff is inexcusable. read more

This is a case of trusting Google maps to guide me to a coffee shop, as I'm unfamiliar with the Las Cruces area. Wecks is in the same shopping center as a superb coffee shop (Milagro). Google maps had me turn into the shopping center, then said that my destination was on the right. All I saw was Wecks, so I went in. It didn't look like a coffee house, but the cashier assured me they could sell me a coffee. They charged me an exorbitant price for an ordinary looking cup of coffee. I paid and left. At my car, I tried the coffee and was appalled at the awful flavor. I checked Google maps again and saw that Milagro was in the same shopping center. So I poured out the awful coffee and went to Milagro. What a difference! I got a superb coffee latte at a price that was LESS than Wecks charged me. This is a great family style restaurant. First visit. Parking lot looked packed but they had a table available. 10:15 am on a Saturday. Server Rylin was super nice and made great suggestions. Hubby created his own omelette with items in and on the side. Huge omelette, easily shareable. Hash browns were the best! Green chili sauce good and has a kick, we ordered it on the side. Breakfast croissant sandwich with fruit on the side was a perfect meal for me. Water and sodas in large glasses. Coffee was good but no flavored creamers. Don't forget to bring your smartphone when coming. It will help expedite the check in and ordering. Use your phone's camera to scan the barcode and fill out the Contact Tracing List as ordered by our New Mexico Governor for all eating establishments. After completing this task (approximately 1 minute), I was seated where, again, I used my phone's camera to scan a menu barcode. My server, Krista, showed up promptly and with a personable and professional disposition, took my order. I ordered their "Weck's Benedict". This consists of two poached eggs sitting on top of a seared ham steak and two toasted English muffins, and all topped with creamy hollandaise sauce ($10.99). I passed on the hash browns that come with it and instead ordered a bowl of fresh fruit (additional $.99). Finally I ordered coffee as my drink - black, TYVM ($2.99). Results are in: I thoroughly enjoyed my Weck's Benedict! It was flavorful, hot off the griddle, and the Hollandaise sauce was just WOW! The fruit was fresh and tasty, and the coffee was bold , but not overwhelming. Service was great. Krista stopped by several times to check on me and see if everything was good. Even on a good day, Weck's is only slightly above average. Their breakfast plates are unoriginal dishes centered on institutional hash browns. Their appeal has been friendly service, familiar faces, and low prices. We recently visited their Las Cruces location and drop kicked that mediocrity solidly in to the basement. First off, our service was ridiculously slow. We sat waiting for some time, before finally making a drink order. This was an omen of the slow service to come, my wife's coffee sat empty, I had to get up to request refills, etc. throughout the meal. My daughter ordered a small orange juice, we got (and paid for) a medium. One of the only things going for Weck's is service and they blew it. As to the food, also not good. My toast was toasted just enough to qualify as stale bread. My papas plate did not have enough chili on it and was dry. No worries, we will charge you $2.29 for another side of chile (without telling me until I get my bill). My carne adovada was huge, tough chunks that required a knife to cut. The manager asked how we were doing before the food got there, but never checked again. Helpful, but not real apologetic or interested in problem solving when I frustratingly walked up to him to get a refill. The price for this crappy breakfast - over $50! My bill at "low prices" Weck's was more than my last breakfast for three at The Shed. So, now you have taken away the good service and low prices, which means, there is nothing good left. Half credit to the cashier. She asked how breakfast was and I said "OK", she recognized that was a problem and said, "just ok", but when I told her our service was flawed, she just shrugged and said "Well, maybe you will get me next time - then it will be better" I didn't have the heart to tell her where she should apply, because I won't ever go back there. read more

Wow! Just wow! This is a definite place to put in our breakfast rotation! Some of the best service we've had in Las Cruces - and they were really busy. It took us a while to choose what to order because there's like a bazillion things on the menu. The stuffed hash browns caught my eye. Hash browns with a couple thick slices of some of the best bacon ever, with green chile, cheese and two eggs on top. Get a tortilla instead of the toast and make yourself some delish breakfast tacos. remind me not to get the eggs basted here. They don't do basted eggs very well. The Belgian waffles come with Sabayon sauce and a ton of fruit. They have pancakes and egg dishes and omelets and chicken fried steak and a Gluten free menu (not just an item or two) and a great kids' menu and these Papas bowls filled with taters and all kinds of flavors (choriza, cheese, gravy etc) and a senior discount on the value menu and ... Mine was pork carnitas in red Chile over the hash browns with crisp edges, an egg over medium (was a bit more well), and I asked for a side of both red and green chile sauces. Both delicious! My son had the veggie bowl but found the red chile a bit too spicy for him, which surprised me since he's a native son living back in our home town. I've had to endure Florida surfer Tex Mex - rare to find Hafch chile anywhere! - yet I was okay with the heat because the flavor came through. I love their tea service - several varieties from Earl Greay yo pomegranate, herbal, & tropical black tea. Lemon wedge, a steaming pot of water, and sweetener options, but like mine straight. Christine was a great server, friendly and attentive. The manager stopped by to check on us, and we told her everything was great. My son said the overhead lighting was too harsh.
