After waiting a day or more, I was contacted by the owner who said she did not have time to read e-mails and said I would need to call or text her. Fine. I made an appointment via text. My daughter was originally supposed to accompany me but was held up by a work trip. The appointment was fine. I paid in full and my second appointment was set for June 16 at 12:00 Noon. Shortly thereafter, my daughter texted the owner, Grace, requesting an appointment for her very minor alteration (putting a couple of stitches into the wrap style bodice of her dress so it did not open so widely). Grace did not return the text until at least two days later and when she did, she was extremely rude, saying she was very busy and that taking my daughter's business would require her to work late or "bump another bride." My daughter is the sister of the groom, not the bride. We took her dress to Pham Tailoring in Dana Point. Pham is always extremely busy but she is always gracious and gets the job done at a fair price. The alteration was done in a couple days for $12.00. On June 15, I texted Grace, asking her to confirm our appointment for June 16 at noon. No response. Texted two more times, no response. I called just before 10:00 a.m. on June 16. The phone was not picked up and I had to leave a message. I said that as I had not heard back and we were now pressed for time, I wanted to just pick up my dress as long as the hem had been done. There was no time for additional work to be done. I did not so indicate in my message, but given the flaky responses we had previously received and the lack of confirmation, I wasn't certain whether the previously given appointment would be honored. Grace called back about one hour later and started to leave a voicemail indicating that she did not check messages on her days off, Sunday and Monday, that I had an 11:00 appointment with Kimberly (it was then about 11:10) and that I would have to reschedule. I picked up during the voicemail and indicated she still had to communicate with her customers and that I just wanted to pick up the dress and not reschedule. She said I could not do that. I said I had already paid in full and I was comimg in right then to get the dress. My daughter and I rushed over to the shop and we saw my paperwork on the table indicating that my appointment was indeed at 12:00 noon with Grace herself. I indicated I just wanted to get the dress, although it was then just 11:30. She then repeated that no one checks messages on their days off. I said fine, confirm upcoming appointments before the weekend. She said she uses appointment sheets. I said yes, those are fine, but brides and others have a lot of things going on and additional confirmation is needed. (Also, sheets get lost). When I pointed out to Grace that my paperwork on her desk indicated my appointment was at 12;00 noon with her and not at "11:00 with Kimberly" as she had just indicated on the phone, she was a bit flustered but still snippy. I took my dress and my daughter and I left. The sign on Grace's door says, "Open by Appointment Only." It says nothing about her being closed on Mondays. My daughter said she agreed with Grace about not returning messages on her days off, but customers have to be informed of when those days are. My daughter did agree that Grace is pretty rude and she conducts herself poorly for one in a service business. I would not recommend this shop.

I wasn't sure if this sudden change of demeanor was because of a comment my friend made about her budget (which wasn't low) or because the rest of our party were Spanish speakers giving their opinion Spanish. It then started to seem like she did not want to make a sale. We asked her several times to pull specific dresses that we could see on the rack and suggested different styles, but she refused and even said "a ballgown on the beach? I cried when I tried it on which is not something I do and after searching countless bridal shops, I had never seen anything like it. I paid for the dress in full that day and trusted Love Era with one of the most important purchases of my wedding. That trust was completely broken. The communication throughout the process was poor from the start. I repeatedly had to follow up for updates because information was rarely provided unless I asked for it. After months of checking in, I finally received the call that my dress had arrived. Excited doesn't begin to describe how I felt walking into my appointment on February 15th, exactly 90 days before my wedding. I expected to leave with my dream dress. Instead, I walked into what became one of the worst experiences of my entire wedding planning process. The dress that arrived was not my dress. Not a slightly different version. Not a manufacturing variation. Not a minor design change. It was an entirely different dress. The moment I stepped onto the platform, my mom's face went white. She immediately knew something was wrong. Within seconds, she brought it to Alex's attention. Rather than acknowledging the obvious problem, Alex repeatedly insisted it was the correct dress. Even when my mom physically pulled the sample gown I had originally tried on from the showroom floor and placed it next to the dress that had arrived, Alex continued to deny there was an issue. That same evening, I informed my wedding planner about what had happened. Within 24 hours, she had done more work to investigate the issue than Love Era had done since discovering the problem. She contacted bridal shops, gathered information, explored solutions, and provided answers almost immediately. Meanwhile, I still had not heard from Alex. Eventually, after my wedding planner and I did the investigative work ourselves and I presented my own proposed solutions, Alex finally admitted via email that there was a problem. Let that sink in. The bride and her wedding planner had to identify, investigate, and help solve a mistake made by the bridal shop. The only solution available was for me to take the showroom sample the dress I had originally tried on. A dress that had been on the showroom floor for approximately three years. A dress that had been tried on by countless brides. A dress that required cleaning, repairs, and extensive alterations because it was a size 4 and I am a size 8/10. As a result, I was forced into additional appointments, unexpected expenses, unnecessary stress, and repeated 100-mile round trips during the final months before my wedding. No bride should have to spend the last stretch of wedding planning wondering whether she'll even have the dress she paid for. Mistakes happen in every business. Ordering errors happen. Designer issues happen. What should never happen is a complete refusal to acknowledge an obvious mistake, a lack of urgency when a bride's wedding is approaching, and forcing the customer to become the project manager for a crisis they didn't create. The most disappointing part of this experience wasn't the wrong dress--it was the response. The denial, the lack of ownership, the lack of communication, and the absence of any meaningful effort to make things right until I pushed relentlessly for answers. My wedding day was beautiful, but the months leading up to it were made significantly more stressful because of this experience. Brides place an enormous amount of trust in their bridal salons. Unfortunately, Love Era did not earn or deserve that trust in my case.

We loved their work at the trial and booked with them on the spot! Claudia has such a sweet demeanor, and really listens when you tell her what you want your hair to look like--so much so that after my trial I booked a cut and color with her, and asked her to make my hair extensions for the wedding! On the day of my wedding, I arrived to find Claudia there, but no makeup artist. Claudia calmly informed me that the makeup artist would not be able to make it on the day of the wedding (one might freak out about this, but I just had to laugh because everything about my wedding was incredibly smooth, and even this seemingly MAJOR hiccup was quickly resolved). Prior to telling me, Claudia had called around to other makeup artists she works with and found the amazing Jamie Spelber to come and save my face (literally!). While Jamie was en route, Claudia calmly got started on the hair for myself and my bridal party, and the makeup artist arrived shortly thereafter. My bridal party had a variety of different hair types and styles, but Claudia did a beautiful job on each and every one of us! In addition to being a fabulous stylist, Claudia was a total boss getting someone else in to do our makeup last minute (and let me tell you, Jamie actually did a FAR better job on our makeup than the girl I had initially hired, so it was totally for the better!). I am so appreciative to Claudia, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist for their wedding day, or just a new stylist for the day-to-day look!
