I'm incredibly disappointed with my gown preservation. It looks carelessly put together, and as you can see in the photos, several issues make it clear that proper care was not taken. The sewn-in bust padding has come loose and is now outside the dress, one of the off-the-shoulder straps is completely unattached, and my lace sleeves are awkwardly stretched across the front, making them look misplaced rather than preserved. If the sleeves weren't going to be properly preserved, they should have been neatly tucked behind the dress instead of being unnecessarily stretched, which risks damaging the delicate lace. I had hoped to one day let my daughter try on this gown, but unfortunately, the integrity of the dress has been compromised. I cannot believe I spent $700 on this service, I would have been better off simply having it dry cleaned. Save yourself the disappointment and money - do not preserve your dress here. read more

After our wedding, my wife brought her dress back to Bridal Reflections in Long Island. They use Wedding Gown Preservation Co for their clients. We received it in the time they promised in perfect condition. The dress looks as beautiful as it did the day she wore it. It was packed nicely and safely in the shipping box. I can't speak about five years from now, but right now it looks like they did an amazing job. I was reading some of the reviews and don't really understand. I thought the whole point of preserving was to not take it out of the box? Maybe it's me. If this company has been in business since 1913, they must be doing something right. Pros: They got the black asphalt stains out from the bottom of my wedding dress (silk Mikado - Martina Liana 1275). Cons: My dress had a detachable bow that was in perfect condition when I sent it off to them (in hindsight, I should have kept the bow behind at my house while the dress got cleaned). When I received the dress back, the bow had a rip on both 'legs' of the bow. It's a good thing I inspected my dress, because they did not notify me of the rips that happened during cleaning. I had to contact them and inquire about the bow. While the pretended to know nothing about it, they did "fix" it for free, which shows that they knew they were in the wrong. Their attempt to fix it was really unprofessional, in my opinion. I'm not a seamstress, but I think they could have done better. The two rips are VERY obvious to me. To make amends, I would like Wedding Gown Preservation Co. to obtain a new Martina Liana 1275 bow for me, since they were at fault. read more

After my review I was contacted by Wedding Gown Preservation for them to make it right. I was very impressed by the way everything was handled. They sent me a label to ship my dress back to them and kept me updated during the entire process. When it was time to have my dress packaged back up and shipped to me, they sent me photographs of my dress, which I really appreciated. It looks INSANELY better - Almost all the stains are out, it doesn't have any debris in the lace, etc. I did have to sign a waiver since they were doing a wet clean of the stained aspects of my dress. I had no problem signing it since I figured if it got messed up my sister could not use it in its current condition anyways. I debated between giving 3 or 4 stars but ended up going with 4 due to their prompt handling of the situation and how well they cleaned up my dress this time. Had I wish it had been done this way the first time? Of course. I didn't even know a wet clean was an option until now. I just got my silk Alexandra Grecco wedding dress back from this company and it is in horrible condition. It no longer feels like silk. It is rough to the touch and has several black dots (like pen marks) and a mark (almost like a black scratch) on the front. They are telling me these are stains they couldnt get out but THEY WERENT ON MY DRESS WHEN I SENT IT IN! My dress was not damaged when I sent it in and now the sewing is coming undone on one side. They are telling me my dress was 50% damaged upon arrival, which is not true. I am livid! When it comes to your dress, do yourself a favor and do not send it here. Pay the extra bucks if you want it returned in good condition. They ruined my dress and there is nothing I can do about it. Zero stars. read more

BRIDES! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I can't stress this enough!! Spend the extra money and invest in dry proper cleaning & preservation. This company does the bare minimum to clean and preserve your dress. I opened my box less than three years later when moving to find that the bottom of the dress was still dirty and had a musty smell, the dress had yellowing/stains that were not there before, and a button on the back was missing when I sent it in perfectly in tact. The box they preserve is huge and the window is made out of plastic which you are not supposed to use with preserving your dress. It was also not wrapped with acid free tissue paper other than the bodice. All the layers of the dress are supposed to be wrapped for proper preservation. I am so lucky I forgot to send my veil with it originally and preserved it myself using acid free tissue paper and it is still in perfect condition to this day three years later. I had to have my dress re-dry cleaned and decided to re-preserve it myself using a breathable soft cloth box from Amazon and acid free tissue paper. Their customer service is also horrible. Don't plan on getting a response if you have ANY issues after the fact. Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable local dry cleaner who specializes in wedding dress cleaning and preserve it yourself. Don't waste your money with these people!! read more

I am incredibly DISAPPOINTED in the cleaning of my dress and shoes from this Company. The portion of the dress that was visible outside of the box was clean, however once I opened the box I found that hem of the dress (which is the part that was dirty and the main reason I wanted the dress thoroughly cleaned) was still dirty!! There were mud stains on the hem that could have been caught and cleaned had a quality check been performed. There was also random debris stuck in the train of the dress which could have easily been picked out. And I don't even want to get started on the shoes... the photos will speak for themselves. Brides FYI, you gotta clean your shit! So this is probably the most underestimated task, but one of the most important task for your wedding prep. This is your ever after right here! I searched high and low for the right place to get my wedding gown cleaned. My wedding dress is my baby! Let me tell you I had appointments that were seriously jaw dropping! The nerve of some of some of these places, they really want you to pay top dollar for the cleaning. However, what set WGP Co. aside from all the rest is the fact that they have been around since 1913. So we went with the most reasonable and logical. This was a totally drama free process. 1. I purchased the box for $190 with taxes included from the bridal store. 2. Followed all the instructions inside the box. All packaging items are included. 3. Placed my baby inside the box to mail out. 4. Called FedEx to pick up my dress (up to you if you want to just drop off at FedEx). 5. Three weeks later had FedEx at my door with my perfect Allure Couture all clean & preserved. So I immediately pulled my gown out and examined every corner to find that I made the best choice. This place is reasonable and they do a good job, I am satisfied with the outcome and highly recommend them. Please note my dress is beaded form head to toe with lace and it was not damaged one bit. The train, omg it looked like it was ran over by a train and it looks so nice and clean. I appreciate the box with in a box and again within another box for delivery method. It makes me feel happy that my baby flew from Cali to NYC and made it back in top shape. My bridal shop sent my dress to this company to preserve. It took about a month and a half the first time around. When I got to my bridal shop, right in the center of the bustier, there was a tiny round object and of course since it's preserved behind plastic, I could not remove it. So the dress shop owner sent it back. It was relayed to me that it was a dislodged sequin. It has been such a headache to chase down my dress. Maybe I would've had a better experience if I had found this website directly. I figured my dress shop would know better since they have worked with dress cleaning vendors in the past. I am currently waiting for the arrival of my dress the 2nd time around. I finally got the tracking after delayed promises. They were about to ship it the 2nd time around when they delayed it due to finding another spot, right before shipping! Shouldn't they have seen that the first time around?! Unbelieveable. Now I wonder if they even truly clean the rest of my dress since you can only really see the front of it through the window on the box. I will update when I get my dress next Wednesday. read more

Pros: -More affordable than local cleaners ($50-75 cheaper) -The shipping materials they send were prepaid and easy to use (although the box they sent me to ship my dress in had a gaping hole). Other mail-away services I looked at required you to find your own box. Cons: -I paid for a customized shadow box and my name was spelled wrong. Instead of "Kendra" they sent me a box that says "Iandra." -I can see a few cardboard flakes on the bodice of my dress. They sent a little insert saying that could happen, but still... between than and the huge disappointment to see my name was wrong... I regret choosing the online mail-away service this company offers. For $294.95 I don't think the ~$50-75 I saved by using this service over a local company was worth it. After reading other yelp reviews I want to open my box and make sure it's been cleaned thoroughly. However, I'm going to hold off until the company responds to my email about the error with the personalization. I hope they respond soon. read more

If you're anything like me, sending your wedding dress off in the mail will be the most TERRIFYING things you might ever do. I literally was at UPS holding my box close, considering just walking back out to my car. I sat on the decision for months. Eventually I sent it off and hoped for the best. I was instructed 8-10 weeks for a return. 4 star rating because: pros: -I am extremely satisfied with getting back dress back in under 5 weeks of shipping it! -The cleaning was excellent and got out stains (I bought a floor model dress; didn't order from a warehouse; unknown stains from people trying it on in the store) -Shipment email notifications so I knew when to be home to sign for it. -Very secure, clean, and pretty box it came back in cons: -email of shipment notification was only 2 days prior to delivery date, which made me scramble to arrange to be working from home that day -found a couple hairs in the lace of my dress that were not mine... annoying but easy to pick off -could never get through when I called customer service for some reason also 4 star because, yes, there is a "100 year guarantee" that the dress will not yellow or anything, but I can't review that since it hasnt been long since I got the dress back. If the guarantee holds up though, there is a note in the delivered box that says to send it back for another cleaning free of charge, which is comforting. Don't go to a cleaner who doesn't have experience in treating expensive gowns and/or wedding dresses. Its not worth saving a few bucks if your dress might be ruined. Go with a company that specializes in it. My experience was great. Everyone will have a different experience for sure, but when it comes to making sure something so treasured is treated with the utmost care, this is the way to go... shipping it off is so scary, but they handled mine perfectly and sent it back like brand new. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They ruined my custom Essence of Australia wedding dress. I bought the Celebrity kit, and I sent it in (along with my slip and veil) to be preserved. I sent them a clean dress, because I asked if I could separate the cleaning/preserving process just for the preserving part, but they said no, and it came back in about two weeks. I opened it up, and did my "bridal inspection," and the dress was gray. Like the dirty vacuum filter gray. Can't miss how gray it is. So I did the responsible thing, and called them to explain the issue. They sent me a shipping label for me to send it back, which I did. They said they saw the color too, and said they'd clean it again. The owner supposedly approved the gown this time, and it was shipped to me (the 2nd time). It arrived back to me with the same horrible gray color, but this time the threads and lace details were destroyed. They sneakily stuffed the skirt up behind everything to try to hide the darkest gray parts. It appeared that someone took a stiff bristled brush and tried desperately to scrub the gray out. It didn't work, so I again called them (I'm a patient woman). They told me to send it back to them, and they'd have a third party look at it. I refused, since I had lost all trust in this awful company. I drove my gown 6 hours to another renowned cleaner. They were utterly shocked at the condition of my gown, and it took them months to get the gray out. The threads and lace is still cut up, but it isn't as gray anymore. I showed friends and posted pictures to warn them not to use this company. If I could have my dress back with only the minimal wear of the wedding day on it, I would. Please don't throw away your precious gowns to this careless, unprofessional company. They haven't refunded me! I asked for a refund, and they said no because I wouldn't send it to them for their third party to look at. You only have one wedding gown from that one day. You can never get it back with the memories, and if my review keeps one girl from having her heart broken, then it's not in vain. Try somewhere else for preservation! read more

Short story: I sent my wedding dress to be cleaned here. Received it back and the gown SHRUNK several inches and was still dirty. Called them, sent it back. Received it the second time, and gown was clean and restored to original size. 1. I found this company online and decided to go with them because the price was right ($150). They send you a Fedex box and shipping label with clear instructions on how to send in your dress. No problems there. 2. 6 weeks later, I receive my dress. The dress is preserved and packed in a box, which then goes in another box, which then goes into a shipping box. Also good. 3. I open the box to inspect my dress. The bottom hem is still dirty, and the silk chiffon looks like it has shrunk. I put on the dress to confirm my suspicions. Yes. My dress shrunk 3 inches. I am livid. 4. The next day, I call Wedding Gown Preservation Co. and speak with Michelle. She is polite and assures me that they will fix the dress. Sends me a fedex packing label, and off goes my dress again. The next week, I call her to see what the status of the dress is. Michelle tells me that she will inspect it the next day. True to her word, she does call me the next day to let me know that they will put my gown through a process that will clean it more thoroughly and 're-stretch' the fabric. GULP. 5. The following week, I call to see what the status of the dress is. She tells me it is cleaner, and that they were able to restore the dress to its original length. It will ship the following Monday. 6. A week goes by, and nothing. Approximately 10 days later when I'm about to pick up the phone, I get a shipping notification in my email. I receive my dress the next day, and true to her word, the dress is restored to its original length, and is clean! 3 stars because the end result was what I wanted. Decent customer service when issues arose. Minus two stars because I shouldn't have had to go through steps 2-6 if it had been done correctly the first time around. I even got the tracking # to ensure it arrived at the company, and another one when they sent it back to me. Once I received it, I was so impressed with the way my dress looked! Excellent service overall, and would recommend them to anyone looking to use a Bridal Gown restoration. Overall it's cleaner than when I sent it in, but the color in the bodice is duller - I can tell because it's duller than the bottom part of the dress and they were the same originally. My dress is lace and there are definitely more threads popping out in various places than when I sent it in. Also, I had an outdoor wedding and when I received my dress back, there were still a few pieces of grass in the train. I'm not convinced they pay much attention to each individual dress, though they seemed to take their time. Also, the display is just weird. It's a wedding dress - not a museum artifact. read more

I had my wedding gown and veil cleaned and preserved. I am disappointed in how my gown was preserved. There is an overlay with flowers and crystals from the top of the dress to the hips. The flowers are folded over and not spread in the proper direction. Some of the overlay rises above the neckline. That too is folder over and not preserved in the proper direction. Crystals are also hanging from threads in the display area. I checked the dress before it was shipped and do not recall any crystals hanging like that. I can only hope that if I do wear the gown again, the results of the improper placement of the gown can be fixed and not at too much expense. The dress is not attractive to look at since the overlay is not preserved properly. It looks like someone placed the dress in the box in a rush and shut the top without a care. I have no idea if it was cleaned or cleaned well. When the gown is returned to you, you cannot see it in full. I can only hope it was cleaned. I am disappointed with the results of this service. It was fairly expensive too. read more

I'm really excited I got my gown back today! When my husband and I sent it out, I had beading coming off of the bodice and I was in tears. They fixed it for me and surprisingly fit the entire skirt and train in the box. .... Please don't waste your money getting your dress cleaned with this company. The bodice of my dress was really not that dirty so I was more concerned about the hem of the dress. They did a shoddy job and didn't clean the hem of my dress very well. There are still dirt stains here and there but they insisted that they cleaned it. There were also some pieces of grass in my dress skirt (which I had to pull out myself) and it doesn't look like they bothered to clean my veil at all. My veil still has dirt stains and had pieces of grass (again, I had to pull it out). Very disappointed. read more

Bought my dress from a sample sale - and this was the company that the dress store recommended. It came with very easy instructions and a box and bag to send it off in. I sent it off for cleaning only. I received it within about two weeks, it was hung up on a nice hanger in a box that I can store it in for the next year. I had a friend who used the company prior so felt comfortable going forward. I found a local bridal store that I could bring my dress to that would process and send my dress out. I was nervous handing over my dress and prayed it would come back safely. I heard via email from the company when they received my dress. They communicated how it would work and potentially how long. Once it was shipped back to me I received communication as well. All in all took around a month. My dress came back cleaned and in a beautiful box. I am very disappointed with this company. My gown was stained from blue/green colored smoke, and the salon where I purchased it sent it to Wedding Gown Preservation Co. They called the salon to ask them if I knew there were burn holes on the bottom, and I said yes, I knew that. I knew that would be impossible to fix, but it wasn't terribly noticeable because it was in the top layer of tulle. I was more worried about the blue/green coming out. I waited a long time and never heard anything else from them, so I assumed all was well. When I got it back, there were still blue/green stains (hidden behind the bodice). I reached out to them, and they said they processed it three time and couldn't get it out. My question is, why did they continue with the preservation if they couldn't get the stain out? If they had told me they couldn't get it out, I would have paid for the cleaning and asked them to send it back so I could try somewhere else. But now it is preserved. When I expressed my disappointment a second time via e-mail, nobody ever wrote me back. Bad business practices. They should have at least apologized, and offered a partial discount. read more

I brought my dress to a bridal shop that uses Wedding Gown Preservation Company. It took 3 weeks for them to send out my dress and my email address was on the form. I never received an email saying my dress was received. I found out you can check the status of your dress on the company's website and it shows it was received on 11/2/09 and the average processing time is 2-10 weeks. It's been over 10 weeks and I haven't heard anything, still no emails, nothing. I am very disappointed with my experience and I want my dress back. read more

I waited about 2.5 years before I got around to preserving my dress, I was surprised to find the dress had already started to yellow in some areas and food/champagne stains appeared on the bodice. I sent my dress off, along with it's heavily soiled hem and train. About a month later, my dress was returned.... The dress was perfect white, minor food/ champagne stains were removed and the hem/train was perfectly clean. I had nothing but a positive experience, and I would recommend. read more

They offended us with a 500 dollar offer saying thats all the gown was worth when my wife paided just over 3500 for it....They were uncooperative and bullies... They are butchers... They scrubbed her dress toO hard and ruined the fabric... They frayed it if that better sums it up...We dealt with Kelly from the Gown place and she proceeded to play it off like it was no big deal and that my mother in law should just make it in to a THROW PILLOW... ARE YOU KIDDING ME... If I wanted a 3500 throw pillow, I would of saved my money and went to HomeGoods....Do yourself a favor and use someone else. I sent my now daughter-in-law's wedding dress to the Wedding Gown Preservation Company through Amelishan Bridal, where she purchased her dress. Amelishan recommended this company, so I figured they would know the best place to have this done. I dropped the dress off at Amelishan and had it shipped back to them, saving the cost of shipping plus worry about whether or not I would be home when the dress came back. I picked it up last weekend and though we (my daughter-in-law and I) did not open the box the dress looks fabulous and they preserved her garter, headpiece and invitation in the box as well. I upgraded to the "Celebrity Line" for a nicer box, hand-pressing of the dress and higher value if the dress was lost. After I sent the gown I went online to check the progress and had some questions, so I emailed them and they responded promptly and courteously. I have to admit we have not opened the box to check the dress because we're not sure we can re-fold it correctly, but from what we've seen we are extremely pleased with their work. read more
