This is an update to my previous review in which I couldnt decide if I should give it 2-stars or 3-stars. I've decided to give it only 2-star this time. While I had some good experience with the staff there, I still believe it's really hit-and-miss with the staff at The Wedding Shoppe. On 2 separate occasions, they went out of their way to help me, but on most occasions, it was quite the opposite. We purchased dresses (I had terrible experiences with my wedding dress and my bridesmaid dresses, which I had already described in my previous entry) and suits for our bridal party, and my fiance rented his suit from The Wedding Shoppe. Firstly, they gave him a size that was way too huge, even after he told them they had made a mistake (to which, the staff said the suit runs a little small so they gave him 3 sizes up). The pants came back and it was simply way too big. The shirt on the other hand was 1 size too small. Having the wrong sizes was not an issue until I brought this to the attention of one of the staff who tried to convince us that the shirt was not small and pants were not too large. Anyone who saw the pants could easily see that it was indeed too large and was swimming on him. The shirt was 1 size too small but she tried to pass it off as okay. She told us that it was perfectly fine and that most guys do not put their hands up anyways (she probably forgot that he wont be having his hands down by his side the entire time). I thought that was very unprofessional and just an excuse to get out of doing more work. I insisted she gave us the right size for both pants and shirt. Thankfully, they were able to send the suit up to the place we were getting married (we had a destination wedding). This is an extra star/point for them - being flexible and prompt in sending the suit to us. Also, they mixed up the ties and gave one of the guys a wrong colored tie. Since we had a destination wedding, there was no time for the groomsman to exchange the tie for the right color. We ended up having the best man wear the different colored tie so it wont look weird even though it was not supposed to be that way. Overall, I just think my bad experiences there outweigh my positive experiences, and will not be recommending The Wedding Shoppe to anyone. They do have a wide selection of dresses at different price points but purchase at your own risk because the impression I've gotten is, once they have your money, they don't really seem to care or even want to provide good service after. Let's just say, the only bad experiences I've had and big wedding stress-related problems were because of The Wedding Shoppe. We had relatively few problems with all our other vendors who provided excellent service throughout. The Wedding Shoppe indeed leaves much to be desired in terms of service. read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience at the Wedding Shoppe. I was pressured into buying my dress off-the-rack, same-day and ended up being deceived. When I tried on the dress and stood on one of their "platform" blocks in front of the mirror, the lady helping me told me that the dress was the perfect length for me--the blocks are 2" high and so I could just find a 2" heel and I wouldn't need any alterations. Since we were offered a discount only if we bought that day (so in the last 45 minutes they were open), we trusted her and bought it. No alterations! Awesome! Save me hundreds of dollars and lots of agony! ...or so I thought... To my surprise, I tried the dress on with shoes at home and found out that it was way too long unless I were to wear some ridiculous 6" heels or something. When I called up the Wedding Shoppe I was immediately told that those platforms are at least 5" high! Our sales person clearly deceived us to make her sale. The shop won't do anything about it. First, the woman I talked to on the phone blamed it on me for not noticing how much fabric was on the floor--like I've ever shopped for a floor length dress before. And then she would not even pass this along as a warning to their sales people so other brides aren't deceived in the future. So beware--don't trust anything that they might tell you in order to make a sale! I usually hesitate to give reviews unless I have consistent experience at a place, but the wedding industry is different. You only go once so they can get away with murder. One of my girlfriends brought us here in search of bridesmaids dresses for her wedding, since they were one of only a handful of local shops that carried the After Six bridesmaids collection with the dress style she was looking for. The woman who helped us was nice, but the "price match guarantee" is a sham and the attendant did a poor job of taking measurements. I showed the manager of the shop at least two online sites that carried the exact same dress we were ordering for $20-$50 less than the Wedding Shoppe was charging. She would not budge on the price, claiming she could not verify the authenticity of the sites - even though they were all listed as legitimate retailers on the Dessy.com site. The dress we ordered (After Six 6678) was strapless, chiffon, fitted to the waist, and free flowing in the hips. My bust and waist measurements were size 6 and hips an 8. The attendant insisted that I purchase a size 8 or 10 to accommodate my hips despite the fact that nothing is fitted below the waist. Despite her insistance, I order the size 6. Even then, the dress was too big, forcing me to spend nearly $100 in alterations. read more

was the MOH in my sisters wedding and went here and had an awful experience.. Waited for a long time then once got in a room my sister had to put her own dresses on. She knew what one we had a picture and she said they had it but had yet to get it until I said stop no more we want to try this one on. It was the one and he last thing we wanted to do was get it at this place but was the only option. Then went to pickup and try on dress and one person brought the dress and we saw no one after - awful experience and very rude help. read more

I came into the wedding shoppe 6 months before my wedding. I was very excited to try on dresses, I had printed off a list of about 15 dresses that I liked and wanted to try on. When I got there, I had to wait 20 minutes in their lobby for my appointment to even start. Then when I showed the consultant the dresses she seemed to listen to me, but it turns out I was really wrong. She brought in dress after dress that were all the same style and they were all tulle. After about 3 dresses, I said I wasnt interested in tulle and wanted to try on a satin dress. She promptly told me I didnt have much choice because we had to order off the rack since my wedding was so close. I said I will pay for rush delivery and she said too bad. I didnt underatand why online the order time was 12 to 14 weeks but in the store it was much longer. When I asked, she wasnt willing to answer. We spent about 20 minutes trying on dresses and each time I told her I didnt like the dress before she even made me put it on. Then as she was lacing me up, she would talk about how great the dress looked on me, as if she was going to be able to convince me to buy it because she said it looked great. They did look great, but it wasnt what I wanted. I asked her to let me try on one specific dress that I really wanted to see and she told me no. Then she seemed annoyed when I didnt like the dresses she had picked. Not to mention they were all about $400 above my price range. Needless to say, it was a horrible experience. My consultant ruined what was supposed to be a special day. I was so frustrated I left in tears because she was so mean and I only wanted to try on one specif dress to see if I liked that style and she wouldnt let me see it. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It is almost like they were teying to not get our business. I went elsewere after that appointment and I found a dress I love with a consultant who actually wanted to help us. They got my business and all 5 of my bridesmaids business as well. read more

My bridesmaids and I had an awful experience here. After a miserable time finding dresses in the right color (the salesperson, Ashley, said they didn't have a single dress in light green and she couldn't tell us what dresses came in that color even though she had an entire book of color swatches), we finally settled on different dresses for each of the bridesmaids. After each bridesmaids was measured and told what size to order, we realized that those sizes would be way too big but she insisted they would fit. One girl typically wears a dress size 2 and she was told to order a size 14. I understand the bridal sizing is slightly different, but that's just beyond ridiculous. We then signed waivers to order sizes smaller than told but they ended up sending us the sizes that they had instructed us to order. THEY WERE EACH AT LEAST 4 SIZES TOO BIG. Typically, alterations can only take in the dress two sizes without having to change the look of the dress. The manager that I spoke to said there was nothing they could do and that they just go off the measurements. If we were to do exchanges, the dresses wouldn't be here until after the wedding and we would have to pay a 20% restocking fee, all because they messed up. One of the bridesmaids was measured a 41'' bust at Wedding Shoppe, but had a 36'' bust when measured elsewhere. So, the salespeople are clearly incompetent. Seriously, save your time and go to professionals because these people are just a joke. read more

Unreliable. Lost 3 out of 8 bridesmaid dresses. Lied about the shipping policy. Inattentive, neglectful, and mean/nasty/snobby customer service. In this case, I should call it "customer NO service." We literally had to have a lawyer call and threaten legal action before refunds were issued for the dresses lost. Though prices at this shop may be a bit cheaper than others, do not waste your time. If I could do this over, I much would've rather worked with a more expensive bridal shop that provided adequate customer service and, say, actually shipped the dresses to where they needed to go. No amount of money is worth the stress and tears that were caused by this horrid establishment. read more

The bridal experience was excellent at this salon. Our consultant Mackenna was wonderful. -thoughtful, efficient, personable, and extremely helpful. She did a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and quickly found the dresses our bride was interested in. She also made sure to double check the bride's measurements and brought a few dresses in the sizes she was suggesting to find the perfect fit. We also appreciated that the salon had private rooms that were able to accommodate up to 10 guests. And of course there was a great selection of bridal dresses to choose from. Overall choosing a wedding gown was a great experience and we would certainly recommend working with Mackenna. As for the bridesmaid experience, it was a bit frustrating. The cold basement room, open dressing area, and lack of sizes made it unpleasant, especially for those girls over a size 8. As with many bridesmaid dresses, the sizing was a real issue. Despite being measured, none of the dresses that were ordered fit correctly, and they all doubled in price by the time they were altered. read more

I had a good experience, the woman who helped me was very nice. However, I was told that alterations for my dress would be "easy" since I wanted to add more of a sleeve, so they recommended me a tailor for my alterations. When it came time for my appointment for this tailor they recommended, she was extremely late to my appointment, and when it was my turn to go in and work with her her other bride was leaving crying because her dress was now completely wrong. (Sodara, is their tailor who they recommend) So I was then forced to find a new tailor who I love, but was quite honest with me saying that alterations were not very easy with the material of my dress, (I was adding full length sleeves to 3/4 length). This was the opposite of what the Wedding Shoppe said. The Wedding Shoppe also never placed the order for the extra lace which I was told they would, so I was out of luck 4 months before my wedding and had to go back in to see if they would happen to have a lace similar to my dress in house. Overall, I would not go back to find a wedding dress here if you think you will need any sort of dress- changing alterations, however, they have a wide variety of dresses, and I still love the one I chose. read more

I've never written a poor review but after the horrible experiences I've had over the last 6 months, I feel I owe it to all future brides to share my story. After ordering my wedding dress, I got home and realized they measured me wrong so I called to cancel the dress so I could re-order. After long periods of waiting on the phone, I'd get through but was told someone would need to call me back. No one ever called me back... I scheduled another fitting where I got remeasured and was told the dress was cancelled but they would need to charge me a second time and I'd be refunded for the first charge. I had to call and fight to get that first charge refunded. Lots of calls and no help. Finally, after arguing that they DID charge me twice for only one dress they wrote and mailed me a check instead of putting it back on my credit card. Then came the veil. It was delivered to my door even though I got an email saying I need to schedule an appointment to pick it up? I opened the box and it was stained. They ended up replacing it but it was still another bad experience where I had to drive 45 minutes one way to the store. My dress came in and I tried it on. The lady who helped me (Alicia) was very helpful. I thought maybe they've hired new staff and are turning their bad image around so I decided to give them another chance and bought some accessories to go with the dress. I got home and realized Etsy has nicer jewelry for half the price! I returned a few things to the Wedding Shoppe 2 days later and was told they'd email me a return receipt. Low and behold I never got the receipt and was not credited... I ended up driving in and getting one printed and was repeatedly told they were talking to their "accounting department" and I'd be receiving it shortly. After many phone calls, they first blamed my bank, then said it takes 10 business days (no way), asked I wait longer and the final straw was when they said they needed to call corporate (after a month of waiting) and would call me back. I never got a call back and ended up having to dispute the transaction with my bank who was appalled and apologetic for everything I've had to go through. I've had friends order their dresses from here and said they've been measured wrong and had horrible customer experience. I didn't listen and gave them a clean slate. Don't make the same mistake I did and save yourself lots of stress by going somewhere else. There's tons of great bridal stores popping up in the twin cities. For all future brides, I hope they realize they've got a lot of work to do and learn from the many bad experiences. read more

The in-house service is amazing. From the finding and ordering of dresses within budget that looked great on everyone in a small, personalized setting, to the checkout process, every element of the initial trying on and ordering process was top notch. However, when it came to ordering samples so the tuxes would match, they failed spectacularly. First, it took over a month to get the sample. However, the fabric was wrong. When I told them of the mistake, they said it would take another month to get the sample to me. During the check-out process, I had said numerous times that I wanted to be able to pick up my dress in store due to a potential move in the next few months. It was close to my home and convenient. However, they insisted on shipping the dress. Before shipping the dress, they did nothing to confirm that the shipping address was correct (which, if you order anything online that takes months to make, before the seller ships it to you they confirm right before they ship it that the address is correct). When I called to tell them that the shipping address was incorrect and to politely ask about what options I had, they rudely informed me that this was my fault. Because, in the midst of making sure that my credit cards, medical billing information, and everything else, I absolutely needed to make sure that this one purchase would be shipped to the right address. The insensitivity and incompetence of the shipping, receiving and overall post-sale customer service is abhorrent, and I would not recommend ordering through them in the future. read more

I loved my bridesmaids dress, all of the girls did, but we all had issues with our dresses. My zipper had broke. I brought it back so the Wedding Shoppe could fix it and they did, charge free, but more than halfway through the wedding my new zipper broke again. I am very unhappy with it! I want to wear my dress again because I love it! Not to mention it fit well, it wasn't too tight and it still did this. 2 other girls with the same dress in the bridal party had their zipper break during the reception. Very unhappy!! For the amount I paid, just to have the zipper break twice is vey annoying! read more

The Wedding Shoppe is a beautiful building in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The staff were incredibly friendly during the measurements for the tuxedo rentals for a wedding party I was recently with. My only concern for the Wedding Shoppe is they incorrectly ordered all of the tuxedos in the wedding. Several of the shirts were 3-4 sizes too large and one of the sleeves was sewn on backwards. Again, friendly staff, but challenging to use if you are from out-of-state. read more

Don't order any Kennedy Blue lighter color when it's hot out. Any perspiration will show anywhere on dress. Very disappointed!! This is the second time having issues. They should be aware of the material and let customers know. The first wedding, dresses fell apart between church and reception. We used Wedding Shoppe buying Wedding dress, all bridesmaid and Tuxes for my two girls and a friends wedding. Their customer service is horrible and extremely rude to the bride and others 2nd time. One employee kept comparing her wedding to ours. We didn't want to hear how wonderful hers went off during Covid. They should be understanding of time frames due to Covid . We have had our dresses for three months and just getting altered and ran into problems. They mentioned the 3 months we have had them many times however alterations were not available until recently. Most people DON'T get altered and put on til closer to wedding which they should know. Wedding Shoppe-sure is willing to take all the money from different weddings but not helpful or understanding at all in return. Go somewhere else to be treated like a bride and wedding party deserve. read more

I went to four different wedding shops the day before. I was stressed and beside myself with the options at other stores that did not fit my unique style. I waited way too long to look for my dress. I walked into the wedding shoppe and felt instantly at peace! There are so many dresses and styles that were different from other stores, and it was such a joy to be there! There was such a wonderful vibe with the staff, and all the people that were visiting. I worked with the stylist Amber, she was so fun and attentive. She listened to all that I wanted and brought the dress of my dreams to try on. I said yes to the dress and I do not regret any penny of it. I highly recommend this place to anyone. You will enjoy the experience, and be pleased with all the different styles they have to offer. read more

I bought my wedding dress at the Wedding Shoppe and had a wonderful experience. My dress is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. The only reason I am rating them 3 stars is because they referred me to a seamstress named Sodara. I brought my dress to her right after I received my dress and she told me how much everything would cost. All I needed was it taken in like a half inch on the sides, a bustle, and the removable cap sleeves to be sewn on. I didn't even need the dress hemmed because it was the perfect length. She added up how much it would all cost and it was a little over $500. I thought it was a bit steep but who am I to say how much it should cost. So 2 months down the road I talked to a family friend who is a seamstress and she told me that I need to go pick up my dress because that should cost no more than 200. Sodara hadn't started on my dress at all because the wedding was still 5 months away so I asked if I can come get it because I have a family friend willing to help out. And she said if I wanted my dress back I'd have to pay her $75. She hadn't even touched my dress yet. No other seamstress would make you pay to get the dress back if you decide not to go with them. I called and asked around so I knew for sure. I expressed my concerns in the nicest way I know how and she basically said that you pay for quality and anywhere else probably won't do a good job. Long story short, if you get your dress at Wedding Shoppe, don't get your dress altered by Sodara. I'm sure she's a great seamstress.. it's just that she'll charge an arm and a leg and is unfair when you want your dress back. read more

I went here for my first try on experience and was really just looking to figure out what sort of style I liked, Willow was very helpful. You could tell that she was trying to help me find the perfect dress and was definitely not pushing sales on me! She only mentioned the price of a dress once when it was under $1000 and I really appreciated that! The vibe of the building was really pretty since it's a converted house I liked all the creeks in the fields and when we left we saw a bride crying with her mother over a dress and I almost started crying, it was such a sweet moment. The only thing I'd say that could improve is parking. Right now, I have a hard time getting around and I didn't see any sort of parking lot which makes sense on grand Avenue, but it would've been nice if they had at least a couple spots or a handicap something somewhere because my foot was exceedingly sore by the end of the trip and I had a hard time walking around. I had a great experience at the Wedding Shoppe. When one of my best childhood friends was getting married I went along with her for a full day of wedding dress shopping. The two of us went all across the twin cities and weren't finding anything until we arrived at the Wedding Shoppe. The employees were great - super nice and friendly but not overbearing. She tried on three dresses and within minutes found her dress and made the purchase. One of my other good friends just found her wedding dress here and had a wonderful experience as well. She is also getting us our bridesmaid dresses there and I can't wait! I highly recommend visiting the Wedding Shoppe in your hunt for the perfect dress. read more

My experience at the Wedding Shoppe was lovely from start to finish. My party and I were checked in early on a bustling Saturday afternoon, and greeted by the best consultant ever (Maddie P.) . Maddie led us up to the bridal parlor, and chatted with me about what I was looking for in a dress. She then pulled six gorgeous dresses, most of which incorporated several of the aspects that we had discussed. We had also talked budget, and Maddie brought in gowns that were priced everywhere from far below my max budget, to right on it. I appreciated that I wasn't only shown dresses that were on the higher end of my price point. As others have said, the mirror area has three pedestals, and there are ten or so chairs lined up for friends/family to ooh and ahh over the brides-to-be. I shared the mirror with one other woman, and only for a short period of time. No waiting in lines today (though deceptively crowded downstairs, the bridal parlor itself was low-key and had maybe eight-ten people in the main area at any one time). I ended up buying the first dress I tried on. I really can't say enough good things about Maddie P., because I doubt I would've even looked at the dress had she not brought it into the room. She never made me feel rushed, and took the time to answer questions from me and my party with kindness and humor. I would recommend The Wedding Shoppe to any bride-to-be! read more

I was way more impressed with the Wedding Shoppe than I could have imagined. I went to A&Bé first and had such a stressful experience. The Wedding Shoppe understood exactly what I envisioned and gave me options to match my wedding and my body shape perfectly! They created a fun, stress free experience for me & that's how it should be! ASK FOR MOLLY. She gave honest feedback without over asserting her opinion and was overall extremely helpful. They worked with me on the price & helped walk me through my options. I would recommend going on a week day if you can. The store was empty, which was great. I will definitely be telling all future brides to get their dresses from here. The dress I ended up choosing was literally my DREAM and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Despite being told by my coworker that they had bad customer service here, I still showed up to dress shop. She was right. Terrible customer service. After shopping David's Bridal, and not wanting to settle there, I came here for my second wedding dress store. Though the customer service at David's Bridal could've been friendlier, compared to the Wedding Shoppe, they actually knew what they were doing. The consultant that helped me with my dress did not seem to know how to help me in a dress. She would just hand them over to me, while I was completely naked. She didn't even tell me there was a robe I could use, but just told me to get undressed! She didn't offer to pin anything big on. As I tried on dress after dress, my sisters stepped in and helped tighten big and loose dresses so I could actually picture what the dresses would look like. We asked for a petticoat for a dress I fell in love with, after my sisters tightened the back, and the consultant didn't even know what a petticoat was! She asked "did you just want something to cover her shoulders?" I think if you wanted us to be more independent on trying dresses like a store in the mall, you should just allow us to walk around and pick out our dresses ourselves and just offer us a dressing room and fit and fix ourselves. What's the point of commissioning consultants who aren't helpful? And, I did end up buying the dress, just because my sisters and my mom loved it so much on me. If my sisters didn't help, I probably wouldn't have stayed as long as I did there --- probably some 45minutes we spent. read more

I heard of Wedding Shoppe Inc through theknot.com. They had advertisements for their Kennedy Blue bridesmaid dresses and they were really cute! I looked for bridesmaid dresses in my area but I couldn't find anything I really liked. I decided to have my bridesmaids order from the website and have them shipped. We all live in different parts of California. Find. Try. Buy Before I had them order I spoke to customer service to make sure about sizing and any other details I would need to know. They tell all of their customers to buy 2 to 3 sizes larger than your normal dress size. That got me worried, so I asked about returns and exchanges. They said that it will take 3 to 4 months to order a new dress in a new size since they have to manufacture the dresses and then send them. They suggested I try the Find, Try, Buy service. With this you are allowed to order up to 3 different dresses for $1 each and then return them after 3 days (I think). The only thing is that they can't guarantee certain sizes or colors to come--it is purely for style. So once they arrived, I felt like it was kind of pointless since they sent us huge sizes. Although, they did send us one dress that was in the color I wanted. This is how I decided the color of my dress. Why is it called "Try" if you can't even get the right size to try on?? Ordering the Dress I sent the Find, Try, Buy dresses back and told all my bridesmaids to order that particular dress. I told my bridesmaids to get measured and speak with a customer service representative to make sure they order the right size. They told all of them to order 2 to 3 sizes larger than their normal dress size. They also have a size chart. The size chart is consistent with their 2 to 3 size larger suggestion. They followed their instruction and ordered in a larger size. One of my bridesmaids is a normal size 2, and they told her to buy a size 10. Another one of my bridesmaids is a size 8/10 and they had her order a size 18. Receiving the Dress We ordered the dress in February and received them in May/June. My wedding is in August. Everyone tried them on and THEY WERE 2 TO 3 SIZE TOO BIG! My size 2 bridesmaid can easily fit 2 of her in one dress. They are absolutely too big. Why are they telling people to order such large sizes? Now each of my bridesmaids has to spend $70+ on crazy alterations. I have 5 bridesmaids and the dresses are way to big on all of them!! Complaining I called them and told them the problems. There was nothing they could do for us unless we we wanted to wait another 3 months to order new dresses. We did not have that kind of time. Later, one of my bridesmaids called them to complain. She argued with them in circles--they couldn't do anything for us!! They said that their size charts are correct and it usually isn't an issue---the dresses were big on ALL 5 OF MY BRIDESMAIDS. I'm sure this happens more often. My girls don't have weird shapes at all. They don't have issues finding dresses any where else. My Conclusion DO NOT ORDER FROM THEIR WEBSITE. Their sizing sucks. Their customer service is clueless. In total, each of my bridesmaids had to pay $200+ on this dumb dress. None of them can really afford it. I feel horrible asking them to pay that much but there is not enough time to find a new dress! WASTED TIME AND MONEY ON WEDDING SHOPPE INC. I am so frustrated with this company. I would really like them to refund us the cost of the alterations. I am never recommending a bride to choose their wedding dress from their website. In fact, I will warn them not to. read more

How this place even has 4 stars is beyond me. I was in one of my best friends weddings this weekend and everything was great, except for almost every single tux we rented. My shirt was WAY too tight and the vest was too short. When I put the pants on, they fit. What I didn't try was sitting down. The legs were so tight that I thought every time I sat down was going to be the time the seams burst. The neck of the shirt was too tight on almost everyones neck. Everyone's jacket sleeves in the wedding party were a different length, mine were about 3 inches too long. Isn't that what they measure you for? I called and ordered a new shirt and vest and picked them up the next day (Friday) got the shirt and it was still tight and the vest was long enough but then too wide so it looked like I had wings . At that point I had no option, the wedding was the next morning and I had no time. So I put on clothes that didn't fit. Whileninwas waiting for them to fix one of the ushers pants, 3+ people came in due to their items not fitting (all separate wedding parties). I wasn't able to participate in dancing for fear of ripping the pants and not being able to breathe in the shirt. Another groomsmen had pants 3 inches too short and had to have them exchanged (again, don't you measure people there?) And an usher had pants that would have looked like shorts if he had been able to get them on and had to resort to buying his own from a local store. Another bad part of this company is they "guarantee" you'll get the tux the Thursday before the wedding. In this case, 3 of them shipped and there were 6 that they called the groom and told him they didn't ship on time and would be here on Friday unless he drives out to pick them up. Obviously that's cutting it way too close. So he took a day off of work (luckily an option for him) and spent the day going to pick up tuxes that should have shipped and delivering them to his wedding party instead of preparing for his wedding. So much for your "guarantee". Also, maybe you should guarantee they ship a week before the wedding since there's obviously such an issue with being able to get people the right items. Today I went in to return the suit. I told the man working about it and he gave me a toneless "sorry to hear that" I told him I wasn't able to participate in the things I wanted to because of it and told him he'd be hearing from others, probably the bride or groom because of all of the issues. He just says "yeah just have them get ahold of us if they need to". To me, that's absolutely unacceptable. I paid $200 to rent a suit that I had to drive an hour to have exchanged and still have it wrong and your staff's response is that? I expected at the very least a partial refund. At this point, I'm going to post this review on all of the popular sites and steer anyone I know away from there. I've been in multiple weddings and this was hands down the worst "fitting" experience I've ever had. Hopefully someone sees this review and saves themselves the headache. read more

I had a decent experience buying my wedding dress here, but the alterations dept needs a lot of work when it comes to customer service. Problem #1: Seamstresses with attitude. After my dress came in, I made an appointment for a fitting. When I showed up, the seamstress rudely corrected me, saying I was there for a "try on, not a fitting." When I said I thought they were the same thing, she condescendingly explained that a "try on" is where I only "try on" the dress. If I wanted a fitting, I'd have to make another appointment. Since I completed the try on in 10 minutes, I asked if I could just do a fitting. The answer was no. This leads me to... Problem #2: Aggressive seamstresses. The Try On is really for them to push you to buy accessories like jewelry, shoes, veils, etc. And they were really aggressive about it. I told them I didn't need to buy anything which brought on more attitude. Which leads me to... Problem #3: Exorbitant alteration fees. They quoted me $400 for my alterations. I'm guessing that since I wasn't buying any accessories, they just gave me a really high quote on my alterations. When I asked the seamstress to break down the cost of each alteration, she said she couldn't do it. When I told her I might not get all of them, she took out a piece of scrap paper and broke it down, but it was clear she was making up the numbers. I'm no seamstress, but $175 for hemming and $75 for a bustle seem out of whack. Having said this, even if the quote was more reasonable, I'd probably still go elsewhere since the two seamstresses I dealt with were less than pleasant. Problem #4: Shady policies. The Wedding Shoppe will NOT allow you to take your dress to show another tailor to get an estimate on alterations. If you take the dress off the premises, you are no longer allowed to get alterations there. They also give you only one week to make your decision. Even though they tell you that you're more than welcome to get another quote, their policies are obviously designed to prevent you from doing that. I left my dress there for one week and called a bunch of tailors who have experience with wedding dresses and got good Yelp reviews. The guy I settled for said -- at the most -- it would cost me $150 for the alterations I needed (not $400!). I went back and got my dress a week later. The girls at the counter gave me a bit of an attitude, which only confirmed I made the right decision. I couldn't imagine having to deal with them every time I went in for a fitting. read more

I could write a novel on my multiple horrible experiences with The Wedding Shoppe, but for your sake, I'll keep it to a short(ish) bulleted list of all the rigmarole this store made me go through. Please keep in mind that I was the opposite of a bridezilla and never once was anything but polite and courteous toward all of my vendors. When I look back on it, I probably should have spoke up a little more firmly, but I didn't want to make matters worse. My experience: -Had to get naked in front of my friends and family when I tried on dresses because there was no separate changing room. Was not told there was a robe to put on until the end of my appointment. Had other salespeople coming into the room while I was in my underwear and bra to pick dresses since they were stored in the room we were using. -Was told by my representative that she would call the store where I originally tried on the dress I purchased to double check that the dress I tried on was ivory. They said they would call and then order whatever color I tried on. After no contact and me believing my dress would be in around March, I received a call four months later telling me my dress was not ordered because they were waiting on me to tell them my color choice. FOUR MONTHS LATER. I just went with ivory because they told me it was the last day to order it to guarantee the dress would be in on time for my wedding. -Spent hours at the shoppe working with a brand new employee on the bridesmaid dress order because she did not know what she was doing. I understand everyone has to learn, but we had a slightly more complicated order (all different dresses from the same designer - one pregnant bridesmaid), so we should have been working with a more experienced salesperson. -My pregnant bridesmaid was sent the wrong dress and only received the correct one a few weeks before the wedding, which was a fiasco because she needed the most alteration work. They also had her buy extra fabric which she did not come close to needing, setting her back even more money. -Was originally told my dress would be in the last week of June (after placing the order four months after I ordered it), the date was then pushed back to late July (the wedding was August 13th), and then they kept pushing it back, so I thought I might have to find another dress. When I called in early July to check the status, I was told the dress had been in for a week, but they "did not have time to call every bride to let them know their dress is in" - thank goodness I called otherwise I would have had to find a new one! What a horrible thing to say to a paying customer! -Only pro of this whole experience: low prices, although I would pay double or triple if I had to do it all over again to get back the piece of mind I lost. I will never be setting foot back in this store. I know I will never buy a bridesmaid dress for future weddings from here because all of my friends know what I went through and would never put themselves through that. The low prices are not worth it - stay away! They need to reevaluate what their business is all about - weddings are very special and brides do not need any added stress from people who have too much business and not enough time/staff to handle the business. For their sake, I hope they change things around, but it would take a lot for me to ever reconsider going back. read more

This past weekend, my maid and matron of honor flew in from Chicago and New York to help me go dress shopping. Our first stop was Rush's Bridal (I've written a separate review for that boutique). It was a great first experience. Our second stop was The Wedding Shoppe, mostly motivated by logic that I shouldn't just see one shop's dresses. Once upon a time ago, I did read through the multiple reviews on this place. I vaguely remembered that it lacked ambiance (which may or may not be important to you) and that service was hit or miss. Coming from an intimate and extremely customer service-oriented boutique like Rush's Bridal, this was kind of a shock to the system. Please note that I'm not from the Twin Cities and came in like a blank slate. I didn't realize that pretty much most of the Twin Cities gets their dresses here, and it's like a huge machine. We arrived about twenty minutes early, and I expected we would wait, as I was sure they'd be busy. There is a small parking lot across the street from the wedding gown shop that is really narrow. We were fortunate to find a spot. When we went inside, it was really busy (not surprisingly - it was Saturday). We checked in, filled out a short form, and then sat to wait. The vibe we got while filling out the form and waiting for our appointment was a "don't even get near the dresses" vibe. I get that, but it's kind of hard not to look at them when they are hanging everywhere (my matron of honor was sneaking a look at some of them while I was filling out my form). The waiting bench is near the flower girl dresses, which we did look at. Nothing really worth writing home about. We were called to our appointment ten minutes before (plus!), and were led upstairs through a narrow stairwell. They have you deposit your shoes so that the floors don't get dirty, which makes sense. Then we were led into the main area where there is a common mirror and places for three brides to look at their gowns full length. It's unclear what we were supposed to do at that point. We pointed out that this was our second appointment of the day, and we even showed pictures of two dresses that I really liked. The consultant remarked that they had the second dress. Then my consultant led me (alone) to a room in the back. It was bizarre because clearly I came with two bridesmaids - why would she not invite them back as well? As I walked back, I saw a room where mother of the bride, bridesmaids, and bride were all in there chatting it up. When we got to my room, the consultant asked me what I wanted. I told her I was open to trying a lot of dresses, am open to sleeveless and strapless, am okay with lace (basically I am okay with trying anything on). I told her my budget. Then she left to go find the dresses. I was then alone in the room while my bridesmaids were sitting in the common area. The vibe I got was that I was the only one supposed to be back there. The consultant later came back with a few dresses. She then asked if I wanted help getting into them. I replied no. In my head, I thought, "I want my best friends to help me get into my dress." So I texted both of them to come back. One of my bridesmaids texted back that her sister was coming back and that she is staying up front because the consultant "shot her a dirty look." Sigh. So my matron of honor went back and helped me get in them. I wasn't overly impressed with anything that was brought back. A few notes: if you do not know what you want in a dress, this place isn't necessarily a good place to start. I would start with a smaller boutique (the only one I've been to is Rush's), as it will give you a chance to pick dresses you like and try them on without having to depend on someone to pick them for you. Also, the common area with the large mirrors is quite handy for looking at the full length of the dress. The consultant ended up bring in the same dress I had seen at Rush's. It was a size bigger, which was nice because I got a better feel for how it fit. I decided to get that dress and the veil that she had brought out. The negotiating skills of my matron of honor (I am pretty easy going and not comfortable with haggling) got us a discount and both dress and veil. I don't know if people normally negotiate dress and accessory prices, but if you have a bridesmaid that is good at doing this without offending the sales people, bring her along. I briefly contemplated going back to Rush's to get the dress (it would have been 30 dollars more) because their service was really exceptional. But we got such a good deal at The Wedding Shoppe (and I frankly wasn't in the mood to call Rush's to ask if they'd match the price - my guess is that because they were such a small boutique, they probably couldn't), and I didn't want to go back to get remeasured. I LOVED my experience at the Wedding Shoppe. As a bride whose planning was anything but normal, I appreciate the Wedding Shoppe getting me in. I got engaged in August of 2013 for a December 2013 wedding. That time frame meant I really needed to find a dress I could buy off the rack - no time for crazy ordering and alterations! I called DAY OF on a Saturday to see if they could get me in or if I could look at their samples/sales that are for sale off the rack upstairs. They said I could come look and see if an appointment opened up. I didn't have the typical entourage with me -- I was alone. I'd been looking in Des Moines, IA a few times -- but hadn't found anything I really LOVED. I started looking on the main floor, just past the "hostess" / check in stand - let them know I was there, then went off on my own. Lo and Behold, I found a dress I loved. THEN ANOTHER, and another. It was great!! The dresses on the sample rack ranged in price, but most were totally within the range I was hoping for (under 1500). The hostess ladies and a few of the consultants that were between appointments came over and offered to help me look and put the dresses in a room for me. I never made it downstairs -- they put me in one of the rooms right by the tuxes on the main floor. I don't know if a consultant got done early or had a cancellation, but someone came to help me. I was ready to try on with probably 5-8 dresses in hand. A few were definite nos, but I had 2 or 3 that were on my top 5 list (of ALL the dresses I'd tried on). Two or three ladies started giving me honest feedback (since I didn't have my mom/dad/bridesmaids etc). They helped me take a few pictures of myself bc I wanted my parent's opinion (I think it's normally against policy to take pictures -- but my Dad had a stroke a few weeks prior and was still in the hospital - hence why I was dress shopping alone). The ladies at the Wedding Shoppe became my family for the day. I put what I thought was my fav dress on hold while I went downtown to another shop. The other shop's prices and options PALED in comparison. I went back to the Wedding Shoppe - and tried on the dress I thought I wanted again only to realize that one of the dresses I hadn't put on hold was the one I really wanted. Again- the ladies came to my rescue, scouring the downstairs fitting rooms until they found the dress. The dress I bought was HUGELY marked down (but still from the current season!), gorgeous, and perfect. Since I bought one of the off the rack dresses, I was able to walk out the door that day with my dress in hand. I will send brides to the Wedding Shoppe EVERY TIME they ask where to go. read more

"brooke, someday when YOU are getting married YOU can try on whatever you want"...."oh, don't worry brooke, someday you'll be trying on wedding dresses"....random stranger: "are you here looking at dresses", me" no. my little sister is". random stranger: "ooooooh, your liiiiiittle sister....". as the only single older sister and co-maid of honor for a younger sister who is getting married, this is the type of fodder i have to deal with....for the next year. hrmph. anyways...my sister is super into the whole "i'm engaged and want to do everything now now now" wedding planning bit...so, about a month ago...a full 13 months before her wedding...and at NINE AM ON A SATURDAY...my mom, grandma, and two sisters schlepped our western suburbs selves over to st. paul to the wedding shoppe. Expecting to walk into an empty store (9am on saturday...) we instead walked into a packed house and were instructed to take off our shoes and leave our starbucks at the door. double hrmph. anyhoo - we trudged upstairs to what can only be described as a puppy mill for brides to be and their entourages. rows upon rows of dresses, ooing and aaing, poofy dresses, satin dresses, lacey dresses, long veils short veils, this bouquet that bouquet....you get the point. really...the place is a puppy mill for wedding dresses and over-eager wedding loving brides to be. but i WILL say that they do have an excellent and fairly priced selection of everything "wedding". My sis tried on about 10 different dresses and settled on a gorgeous strapless lace number....and the price was right. The employees at the wedding shoppe are typical st. paul girls...tan skin...blonde hair...offensive accents...and really, I was seriously unimpressed with a)their attitudes and b) their attentiveness. I do think that if you or your friend/sister/cousin/etc is looking for a wedding dress at a good price - it might be worth it to trek over to the wedding shoppe...but don't go on a saturday and dont expect that romantic, one of a kind, special experience you may have been thinking of. Wedding Shoppe is here to turn a profit...and turn a profit they certainly do.....one in one out one in one out..... read more

My review is in two parts. I visited the Wedding Shoppe as a bridesmaid. Part one is related to the bride's experience with her dress, part two is our experience with bridesmaid dresses. Part one -- We all attended the the bride's dress consultation, and her consultant was fantastic. Dresses seemed a bit over-priced to me, but, generally, the experience here was fine. Part two -- bridesmaid dresses. RIDICULOUS is the only word that comes to mind to describe this experience, and I would absolutely NOT recommend getting bridesmaid dresses from the Wedding Shoppe. Choosing dresses was fine. The consultant was friendly and some-what helpful. Sizing was an issue. All of us ended up having to get our dresses taken in at least a size or more, at the nice premium alteration price. (Some were up to three sizes or more. As a result, the dresses really didn't fit the way they should.) I would think a bridal shop could do a much better job sizing the first time around. Secondly, there were two big issues with our dresses. One got lost in shipping, and one was shipped in the wrong color. What? The Wedding Shoppe was not at all helpful with the lost dress, and "couldn't guarantee" that a new one would get to us in time. We learned of this in late March for an early June wedding. To me, there should have been plenty of time to ship a new dress. Isn't that what overnight and rush shipping is for? We were willing to pay for it. The final blow came when the dress came in the wrong color -- something that was clearly the Wedding Shoppe's fault, and not something they could blame on FedEx. Somehow, they were able to magically make a new dress appear in about two weeks. But they "couldn't guarantee" one in two months? Again, ridiculous. The customer service was very lacking, and they weren't willing to help us in the least. We saw absolutely no problem-solving ability from the Wedding Shoppe whatsoever. The first responsibility of a place like this should be to serve the customers, whom are spending quite a good deal of money with them. One would assume they want to see happy customers, but that was not our experience. Nonchalance and indifference are words that come to mind to describe the people we dealt with from the Wedding Shoppe. Our whole experience was frustrating at best, and incredibly disappointing. Bottom line -- I do not plan to use the Wedding Shoppe, Inc. for any future wedding needs for myself, and I wouldn't recommend them to others either. Just because they are the most popular/busiest in the Twin Cities does not mean they are the best. read more

I went to the Wedding Shoppe with two girls for my second attempt at wedding dress shopping. I thought the Wedding Shoppe might be a better experience than David's Bridal - perhaps a bit more unique or interesting. However, from our first second in the store, I was totally appalled. Upon entering, it was unclear where to go (I had an appointment) - so I asked a woman at the front desk. She snapped at me to go to another woman standing in the corner. Upon approaching the second woman, she brusquely forced a form in my hand, then snapped at us to go upstairs. When we took off our shoes upstairs, a woman named Carrie was very rude when a friend of mine asked why she had to take off her shoes. (After all, we don't do this often!!) We were then rushed and zipped around by an insane assistant who made me feel like I was in a cattle barn - yes! no! on! off! I was also particularly disappointed that we couldn't take pictures since my family all lives 1,000 miles away, so I couldn't share the experience with them. I tried on over 12 dresses in less than half an hour, and our fitting assistant demanded that we buy the dress that day, barking at us to decide before they closed that day. This appointment was also at 9 a.m. - so there was absolutely no need to demand us around and be so frantic with us. If you want a non-stressful, enjoyable shopping experience, absolutely do NOT go to the wedding shoppe. Many of the dresses were torn and in bad shape, and the staff has an uncanny way to be rude and rushing; the atmosphere is catty and unwelcoming, and the real kicker is that their prices are high and not in any way a bargain. Avoid at all costs, ladies!! read more

When I first had my appointment at the wedding shoppe to try on dresses, the place was a little chaotic but overall the staff were nice and helpful. I fell in love with a dress and ordered it that day. My experience with the wedding shoppe went downhill from here. I went to my appointment to try on my wedding dress and was very disappointed with how the dress fit my body. While it was the right size, the dress was much more poofy and the side seems did not feel right (they were bunched up and looked weird). I realized that the dress looked completely different because when I had initially tried on the dress, they clipped it in the back which is normal. But what I didn't realize is how much of the skirt fabric they had clipped as well, making it fit my body in a very different way than the dress actually came. When I nicely explained why I was disappointed and had questions about how it could possibly get altered, they were very unhelpful. The girl helping me went to find someone that knows about alterations but they were helping with another client, so they basically said "sorry we can't help to answer your questions". They told me they could give me a contact of a seamstress and never did (probably forgot). When I went to find the girl to put my dress away I couldn't find her anywhere. The most frustrating part of this experience was that I filled out a survey after this experience expressing my frustration. Someone named Amy called and left me a voicemail saying she would be happy to discuss more about what was written about my experience. I have tried calling her back twice, leaving voicemails each time and have not heard back at all. If this place wants to be known for great customer service they should call people back, especially when they were the ones to call in the first place and especially if the person had a bad experience at their shoppe. I absolutely had a TERRIBLE experience here. My appointment was towards the end of the day because I had to work and my mom was flying in for my appt. They were rushing me the entire time and I never felt like they wanted me to find the right dress, they just wanted me to find a dress so that I would leave! It was awful. They even told me near the end of my appt that I wouldnt be able to find a dress there. I'm a size 4 and not Extremely picky! I wanted a pretty simplistic dress and I had a pretty healthy budget for my dress, especially if I found the right dress. They were rude and the whole experience made me hate shopping for a wedding dress. I went to other bridal shops a week prior and I have to say they did a far better job than the Wedding Shoppe!!!! I even went to a discount bridal shop and I would have rather bought my dress from them than from the Wedding Shoppe! Thanks for ruining my wedding dress shopping experience with my mom, it took a lot of effort to get up the next day to do it all over. Needless to say I went back to a shop I had already been to and had a great experience. read more

My bride came in to try her dress on after having a wonderful experience while initial purchasing and trying the dresses on. She had great service, was treated fairly, found a dress she loved and it was everything she had hoped for. Her dress came in extremely quickly and she was ecstatic to try the dress on. She scheduled a fitting to come in and see it on a Friday. When she arrived, the store was really busy which is understandable. She had an appointment scheduled so didn't expect any issue. The customer service rep who helped her, Elsa, was EXTREMELY rude, and unhelpful. She was rushed, did not give my bride more than 60 seconds to look at the dress. Meanwhile, others were being helped and taking easily 10+ minutes to try on and analyze how the dress fits and looks. It was so disgusting and disrespectful especially for a situation based on a post-purchase customer service scenario. I would resort to this place as a LAST resort in dire straits if you are looking for a wedding dress. Don't let the selection or price lure you in. It is a trap and you get what you pay for. Do not shop here. If you unfortunately have to shop there, don't even try it on there, go somewhere else to get it adjusted and finalized. It's not worth it. When I called to complain and explain my frustration, the manager seemed hesitant to understand the issue or offer any acceptable solution. Mistakes happen and in customer service we have to understand that. However, after having been given a chance to help the situation, hardly any help was offered. read more

Was so excited to try this out after having been to some smaller shops, thought this would be a great experience. Workers were not very friendly, it was so small and crowded so that employees and customers were literally stepping on each other's feet, so many choices but you couldn't walk around and browse like other stores. Was already planning alterations and bm dresses elsewhere. On the plus side, they seem to have a great selection, but honestly would call around and give someone else my business. read more

I had a mixed experience at the Wedding Shoppe. I really, really wanted to like it for a lot of reasons, but at the end of the day, I ended up going elsewhere for my wedding dress. First off, getting to the Wedding Shoppe was easy. Parking, however? Not so much. I had a 1:30 appointment on a Thursday afternoon, so I figured it wouldn't be difficult to park. We did get lucky and found a spot on Grand after driving around the block a couple of times- I found out later that there is a lot on the North side, but I did not see it easily advertised. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the girls up front. I let them know I had a bridal appointment, and promptly I was welcomed upstairs. Mary was my bridal assistant, and she did a great job of asking me questions about the wedding, what I wanted, what my price range was. She then had me pick a few out to get started, and from there we worked on what I did and did not like. It was the first place and first time I had tried on dresses, so although I had been looking online, I didn't really know what I wanted. I sensed that Mary was a bit frustrated that I couldn't vocalize what I liked- but I truly didn't know! I really was willing to try on whatever she brought me. We did make some good headway, and found a few dresses that I liked (didn't love, though). While Mary was helpful, I felt as though she was distracted- by the ringing phones and constant requests for help from other workers. Not her fault- but it did make the process seem less personal. Price points here were all over the board. I had a fairly limited budget, so there were a few "Ooooooh" moments over dresses until I looked at the price tags. I didn't feel like I was limited by my budget, but it's true that you get what you pay for (the more $$, the more bling). While I was there, 2 other brides were trying on dresses, but not until towards the end of my fitting. My tip for anyone going here? Make a late morning or early afternoon appointment on a weekday- it wasn't busy at first, but the later it got the busier it got, thus the more distracted the workers were, and honestly, the more distracted I got. It was very hard to get a personal opinion when 10 other people I didn't know were watching me in the mirror! A 5 star note: I am in a friend's wedding in September, and she had requested my measurements. Numerous times in the last few years I had gone to other bridal shops in search of someone to do measurements, and was turned away because the bride was not purchasing her dress through those stores. The Wedding Shoppe ladies downstairs were more than happy to measure me, and were appalled to hear that other places would do such a thing. That alone made me want to come back in the future. All in all, a good place to go, but just not the place that worked for me in the end. Again- make an appointment early and during the week and you're golden. I hear it gets wild on the weekends, which doesn't sound like something most brides appreciate! read more

i live near sf, california, but when i got engaged, i waited til my first visit to my parents' house for the shopping with mom thing. my experience with this shop(pe) was top notch. we had an appointment thanksgiving weekend. the lady listened to what i told her about my style (half hippy, half princess) and about the styles i like to accentuate my figure (hourglass). she also listened to my mom about price range and came out with a pile of beautiful dresses. mine was the second one. the ladies in the shop were quite courteous and seemed to really enjoy their jobs of helping women find their favorite dress. the dressing room was spacious, the pedestal and mirrors was great :) and i totally understand the no photos thing- i mean, that doesn't help them if you go have the dress made somewhere else- come on people. anyway, they totally humored me by letting me linger as long as i wanted in that dress again and again. the attendant was delightful and grabbed a veil to see how it would all look. no pressure tho! it was really low pressure and i only spend 650 on the dress of my dreams! i couldn't believe it- i usually have very expensive tastes when it comes to this sort of thing. make sure to get an appointment, they are very busy and it can be a little unnerving walking in cold. read more
