My father, 90 year old Alexander C. Johnson, and I had an amazing trip to Wegman's s we prepared to visit my mother who is in a nursing facility. We started out by getting a scooter from the front end and then "taking a lap" around the store. My father used to go to Wegman's 2-3 times a week but now he is lucky if he gets to "Weggies" a couple times a year. We were able to buy my mother flowers from the flower shoppe with the help of Hannah, an incredibly accommodating and friendly worker. She showed us where to get the roses with baby's breath and wrapped it beautifully! We decided to get 2 slices of pizza where Anna not only gave us the freshest pizza from the oven but also cut the big piece in half for my father to eat easier. While we were at West Irondequoit Wegman's my father recounted a story of when he met Robert Wegman years ago at this very store. My Dad told Mr. Wegman that his store was "outstanding in its service and the quality of its food." The same can be said today! read more

I honestly don't know why this Wegmans has gone downhill with Wegmans apparently not caring. I'm factoring in the supply and shortage issues and this store still remains far below the other Wegmans stores in our area. Items are out of stock for weeks particularly in the dairy and plant based dairy sections. The cases in the plant based dairy and alternate protein section have been breaking since they were installed at least three years ago. Five days ago they told me they'd be fixed that day. Today they're still dark and there's no product to be found. Bakery items are inconsistent with the staff telling me to go to the Eastway store. By the way, that was a good idea. The Eastway store is far better. Wegmans tales no pride in it's Irondequoit store I now treat it as a 7-11 and shop somewhere else. read more

I've been to this Wegmans a number of times and have always been satisfied with their selection, but today I tried calling ahead for a pizza and ended up leaving disappointed. It wasn't the worst Wegmans experience I've ever had (lookin at you, East Ave), but when a guy calls ahead for a pizza and doesn't get informed of a missing ingredient until about 5 min after checking in and standing around, something has to be said. Not going to pass any judgements, but I will describe what I saw in objective terms: Before arriving I call ahead and ask them to get started on a truffle pizza because I will be there soon. After making my way through the parking lot I walk up to the pizza bar and see 3 employees and no customers waiting for pizza. I mention that I called ahead for a truffle pizza, one of them recognizes my order and informs me that they will now get started on making it. I then stand patiently for about 5 min and then the same employee tells me that they will not be able to make it because they are missing one of the ingredients, but that they could make me a different pizza. No thanks, I say, I'll just go to a different Wegmans. I get to my car, I call ahead to the Pittsford Wegmans, and by the time I get there (roughly the same time it takes to make it), the pizza is freshly made and waiting for me! I didn't want to go there initially because the parking lot is much more hectic than the one on Hudson, but if you want good service and the Pittsford one is also along your commute, I'd definitely recommend sticking to that one. Now will this experience keep me from going back to the one on Hudson? Probably not as long as I'm going just for shelf items. But based one what one of the other reviewers wrote about getting sick after eating from the pizza bar at the Hudson one, I feel like I dodged the bullet! read more

My love for My local Wegmans has sadly been diminishing over the last year or so. Those bottle return machines I was so excited about?? Well now they are just a nightmare. The main entry is too small for them and it often has an unpleasant boozey odor. Half the time the door is blocked by professional bottle returners. Fire hazard!!!! They've reorganized the produce section. Again. And it doesn't flow anymore. Did I mention that the new sliding doors are narrow and open so slowly? If I didn't know any better I'd say that there are some measures in place to deter shoplifters. But I'm not shop lifting and I'm often in a hurry... And it would be really nice if I could just get out of the building with a little more speed. Yes, I complain. Yes, I've started visiting the new Tops more regularly (oh the treachery). But I still do like my Wegmans. The guys in seafood are still great. There's a wonderful generous woman who works in meat that give out coupons generously!! And as of late I have interacted with some really hard working, caring people in the pharmacy. The employees are what keep me coming back despite my other complaints. read more

As Wegmans goes, this location is not one to brag about. In the 80's this was probably one of the premier stores. Today, it's age is showing, and not in a good way. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the Wegmans that have been built in Virginia over the last 10 years. read more

Danny Wegman needs to calm down on his prices!!! Yes the stores are ok, but really? His loaves of bread are short loaves and same price!! I realized how much he"s raised those prices and they're aren't any BOGO any longer and the shoppers club is complete bull! We're not saving anything but a few pennies but yet we're over paying for everything there anyway! I go to Walmart superstore or tops for the BOGO.. Tops deals are so much better than wegmans. I'm tired of watching this person get wealthy off me. He DOES NOT care about his community.. He's robbing us with our eyes wide open and getting away with it! love this wegmans, i also like the new one downtown but this is the one i grew up with. they have made great changes recently to make it similar to the more recent ones. the only thing that bothers me is some things are expensive then i'll just go to aldi's or something. I have to agree with another comment on here, by Chynna B. I have been coming to this store for many years, and I am disappointed by some of the workers on how they treat the customers. I witnessed a worker who works at the customer service desk being rude to a customer. What kind of manager leaves one person working when many people are waiting in a long line to get service. It's seems like this store is not properly managed well like it use to be. The customer service desk needs to do better. When it comes to my wallet I expect good service. It's obvious that the customer doesn't come first at Wegmans anymore like it use to be. read more

This review is specifically for the lady working in the fish dept. during the day--she deserves the 5 star review as her customer service was excellent. I came in needing exactly 35 fresh scallops for a special birthday dinner. I didn't want her to just grab and weigh them and asked her if she could pick them out individually to make sure they were all perfect and she did. She was very nice about it and I really appreciated her positive attitude and willingness to help. It is so nice when you can ask someone to go a little beyond and they do without any complaint or attitude and with a smile on their face. I appreciated her help and will be sure to shop at this Wegmans again. read more

It's a Wegmans just like the others...Wegmans Titus Avenue. What I mean by that is that it's well, an average Wegmans store. Why does this get a four star rating then? This is because even though I found the prices to be the same pretty much with some items being a little pricey, one thing stood out to me, the service. These employees know what they are doing...hell they always do it with a smile. Whatever I ask, they answer. When I need an item, they go out of thier way to find it for me. I actually thought they were sort of playing a nasty trick on me at first (it was a little TOO friendly), but I realized they were genuine. Selection-wise, Titus Wegmans has what I need. I was able to get what I needed without much issues...right? The price for fresh corn on the cob was quite high. I'm not sure if this is just because it is near the summertime, but I expected it to be lower then what they were offering. Besides this corn fiasco, as a Wegmans, it holds up well. I can only hope that others get to have thier own experience with the service here. Will you guys have a great employees? I can't make that judgement.... read more

I live near the East Avenue wegmans but sometimes I will travel to Hudson/Titus because the employees here are professional and care about the health of the staff and others. This wegmans will disinfect the conveyer belt after each customer use. Wegmans East Avenue stopped doing that months ago. WEGMAN'S I HEART YOU!! I spent three months stuck on work travel in Rochester NY...IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER!! And let me tell you it gets COLD. And when I say cold, I mean walk outside and your lungs start to burn cause you can't breathe cold. I went to Museums, highly recommended Restaurants, everywhere...and yet, my favorite place still remains WEGMANS. So much so, that I sent postcards home to my family with Wegmans supermarket (the original one) on them. And my favorite Roch souvenir was my wegmen's reusable grocery bag. =D This is not as AWESOME as the Pittsford Wegmans or as chill as the North Chili Wegmans, but it's a nice little Wegman's. It's more expensive than TJs or local Farmer's markets in California, but cheaper than Wholefoods and above the caliber of EVERY single supermarket I've ever been to. Wegmans, I'm waiting for you to come to California! WhY wegmans is awesome: 1. selection of organic fruits, vegetables, fresh breads, prepared items, pretty much organic anything! 2. selection of tropical fruit during blizzard conditions. Dude! Who has star fruit in the middle of December on stock??? 3. the daily freshly made food: fresh pasta bar (person to make pasta dishes for you on the spot), asian buffet (kind of lame like a mr. chau's kind of food selection), olive bar, bunch of things!!! 4. they have an amazing selection of vegan ice creams (not that I'm vegan...so that says a lot). 5. they have like 50 billion employees all hours of the day (trust me...i went at 12 midnight one night) to help you with finding anything in their huge store. And those people are way friendly!! I shop at the Titus Ave store every Saturday at about 9:00 am. I purchase the 16 oz Organic Spring Mix almost every week. The last two weeks there was none of this item on the shelf, and it's allocated space was filled in with Spinach mix. I ask a produce employee about the product and they went in the storage area and both times came out with an entire case of the item that I wanted. Nice of them to get it, but why was it not out on display rather than in storage. This morning I shopped for the same item, and I got the last one from way in back of the display. again most of the display was filled with the spinach mix. There seems to be a consistent problem with getting the 16 oz Organic Spring Mix displayed. Here's an idea, when an employee notices that the item is low or empty on the shelf; rather than filling in with another item, go the back room and bring out more of the sold out item ! read more

Wegmans is the absolute best grocery store in the country. My Mother misses it so much now that she moved to the west coast. Always fresh produce and meats. Sometimes the hand wrapped cheese has a bit of mold so watch out, but even so it's great. The prices are steadily rising, making it difficult to do absolutely all of my grocery shopping there anymore. My "must gets" from weg's include: coffee (weg french roast), bagels, cheeses, bulk anything and portabellas. I have noticed it getting a bit ghetto recently... not as bad as Hudson Walmart, yet. read more

People in Rochester are proud of their Wegmans stores. But, this one isn't any better than any large grocery store. 25 years ago -- when it was located where the old Chase Pitkin building stands -- this was an impressive store. this is grossly late, but thought it was worth mentioning. I recently moved in upstate new York. Family informed me of this location as it was near their home back in early September 2019. It was late at night around 11pm. I selected some groceries and some make up items to purchase. I wasn't sure if I would purchase all makeup as it depended on total price of order. African American gentleman was the checkout clerk. After total was too high, asked him again to recheck each price of makeup item. Then informed clerk which I wished to purchase and which I will not. Clerk gave me a difficult time, stating I was holding up the line and he needs to service customers behind me and becoming visually upset and treated me as such. I cannot remember exact thing, but when he rung up the total. Stated he couldn't find an eyeliner that was put back and accused me of having it on me, in my purse, etc? I was very tired and astounded he would accuse me of this. I dumped my purse out and said you find the eyeliner. He couldn't and just stated I am following policy and need to check this. He didn't apologize at all. I was ready to pay my total and get out of there. It was humiliating, demoralizing and was quite surprised this happened at Wegman's which is known for high quality customer service. Then I checked my receipt prior to leaving as this is my typical practice and found out an extra eyeliner was charged, that I didn't request and further I couldn't find it in the shopping bag. I detested I had to go back in. Asked for manager and she didn't apologize at all for clerks action and also accused me of stealing the eyeliner. I then due to frustration, excess fatigue, dumped the grocery bag out and dumped out my purse and emptied my pockets and said you find it! I was weeping as I couldn't believe the nightmare I was experiencing. Manager did not apologize, saw I didn't have what they accused me twice of having and provided me with a refund. Again, she provided no apologies for her actions nor of the clerk. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I myself worked as a clerk in Rochester new York for 3 different wegmans, never did I provide such poor customer service or even think or be as bold to do so. Even if you believe you are right, you are always to give the customer the benefit of the doubt especially if you want that customer to return. I remember one time as a clerk, a customer said I owed him 20 dollars. I informed him I don't recall this, but will obtain manager to look into this. Perhaps I did a mistake, even though I thought I didn't. I wanted customer to be pleased and also give me peace of mind, did I really forget? Then my manager took my till to the back office in which money in till was counted and compared to transactions/purchases by customers. I was 3 cents short and didn't have an extra 20 dollars. Manager informed customer of this certainty and I treated customer in no negative manner afterwards and said I understand if you believe this and want to check on this. I would too. I thanked customer and said to have a good night. That is an example of true customer service. Wegmans you really messed up and this clerk should have received a warning or dismissal, take a course on customer service and the manager should do as well. And then his performance customer service should be closely followed for 3-6 months. I suspect I am not the first customer who received this unacceptable demeaning service by him. The Titus Ave Wegmans in Irondequoit is excellent. The products are tailored to the neighborhood and the helping hands (one gentleman named Patrick in particular) are just phenomenal. I could go on and on. When there are products I wanted, the staff let me know when ordering and shipment days were so they could order me what I wanted and left it with my name at the desk. The store is clean, and has great fun and food for kids as well including balloons, samples and scheduled programming. read more

I totally agree that the Hudson Store is outdated, dirty, with not so pleasant people workingthere. I do shop there every week, since it is near my home, but selection is poor, pre made foods are not as fresh as the other stores. The stocking that happens on SUNDAY is rediculous..you can't get doen the aisles...when I inquired why stocking shelves is not done at night...I was s o rudely told...what do you expect...we have to stock sometime.....Ok then...Guess I will go to another store! read more

Listen, I live and breathe Wegmans. However to be such a well known, prestigious store, they are terrible for customer service!!!! I guess when you have come this far and made a name and money for yourself, you forget to remember core values of customer service. There have been a few issues at this store... However last one was quite frustrating. I'm a vegetarian going on 20 years. I went to the hot bar in lunch and purchased a VEGETARIAN burrito... Ingredients listed. Needless to say I ate a piece of chicken. I went to complain and missed my entire lunch, HUNGRY. Calling 1-800-WEGMANS was horrible! They never followed up nor did they take this matter serious. What if I were allergic to something that was listed improper?! Talk about law suit. Needless to say I was sick for two days and after being a vegetarian for over 20 years- I ATE A DAMN PIECE OF CHICKEN!!! Do they not understand how serious the is. After days of calling- they said they were mailing me a $20 gift card!!! What a JOKE!!!!!!! I wish I could call the Wegman family myself. read more

i have been a loyal customer of wegmans for over 50 years but today i had a very bad experience at the pharmacy i was trying to refill my prescription after the first lady could not find my order she called another lady over to help after asking me name and birthday four different times they told me i do not have any refills and the prescription was expired four months ago i told them that it was not and i had it filled last month they told it was not and they could not help me i went home and picked up the container the pills came in last month and went back to the store had to wait in line for a second time when my turn came up i showed them the pill container stating it was filled last month with three refills left on it they told me i had to wait another 20 minutes after waiting in line three times and driving home to get the pill container to prove to them they were wrong i will not be doing my shopping at this pharmacy any more very poor customer service read more

Like the store but the sub shop is terrible. Bought 2 subs last night and there was barely any meat in them. Everything is weighed out and I'm thinking that the portions have been reduced. For $9 each I was expecting much more. I've heard this from many other people also. There are much better sub shops in town that make a sandwich like its supposed to be made.
