I'm a periodic customer here because the store is a bit out of my way but I wanted to give a call out to the staff here this morning. Stopped for just a few items and the store was packed because of the pending snowstorm. I couldn't find an item and asked a woman stocking shelves in another department. She admitted she wasn't sure but pointed me to the aisle she suspected it would be in. 5 minutes later I'm in that aisle looking when she approaches me and explains that she asked another employee who is more familiar and then spent a minute helping me locate it. Great customer service which is sadly too rare these days. The positive and experience continued at checkout. Again long lines and grumpy customers but the woman assisting at self checkout was upbeat, positive, and helping keep everyone moving along. read more

I don't normally rate grocery stores, but the Weis in Pen Argyl is pretty great! It's a smaller Weis, but everyone is extremely helpful. The prices are always affordable and the produce is high quality. read more

I am a Cutter and Cleaner in the Meat Dept I Love working here. We don't just have the basics we have Bison Venison Turkey. It's a great Starting Job even in this economic climate it's a good place for 16 to 20 good discounts on groceries and Gas points ate great. Save money for later in life. Stay away from the bakery dept. Ordered a cake for my son's birthday, well the cake was a plain cake with just the color icing I picked out. Not picture or nothing like it was supposed to be. I took it because his party is in 1 hour. They hire all young high school kids part time who could care less if the order is right or not. Place has went downhill drastically while raising the prices. People don't mind paying for good service. Only reason the store is as busy as it is because it's the only grocery store in a 8-10 mile radius. Spend more time training employees if they're going to be in a specialized role. read more

The staff lacks knowledge when I ask questions JAN, the courtesy desk clerk is only one that is fast and efficient, answers questions, solves problems; great worker. I wanted to use points and buy spaghetti cheese but they were out of my brand. I headed to checkout and a young gal instructed me to enter checkout #13. I stood behind the line and aftef 15 minutes, the young gal told me to move to #9, it might be quicker. Someone beat me to it. Stood in #13 15 more minutes because the old cashier was making social arrangements with customer and the customer kept looking at me yet talking to cashier about dirty I'm taking so long but I want my points, then she took so long that the transaction payment voided and I am listening to all of this and as the cashier put last bag in customers cary, I proceeded to put my items up on belt and the cashier yells, I didn't wipe the belt yet. Take your items off !! I just can't believe I waited in line over 1/2 an hour which is truly unnecessary BTW, my 300 points expired 5/25!! Stayong6awsy for awhile!! read more

this place is absolutely horrible literally, I was with a family member and a teenage looking boy goes a head and says "yo can you shut the fuck up" the staff workers name is "aiden" I go and report to a staff and they say they will talk to "aiden" than a another staff jumps in the conversation and says that "you guys were being loud so it was fair" so it was fair that Aiden told me and my family member to shut the fuck up the staffs there look very underage read more

Weis is the only grocery store in our area. They are very expensive compared to other stores. The most disappointing part right now is that they offer "curbside pickup" at their location however, there are no time slots available and I went all the way up to the end of May to try to get a pick up date. On top of that, their phones are not being picked up so I can't even ask someone what my options might be. I have gone there for the past 4 weeks and there is NEVER any products in the paper isle...oh, perhaps some tissues but that is all. If I had any other options besides travelling 30 minutes just to get groceries, I would certainly do it. What a disgrace. read more

Weis was formerly Mr. Z's and is located in a somewhat dingy plaza with several other stores and places to eat. This grocery store is definitely an improvement from what I remember it being like a few years ago. There's now a bank inside and all of the aisles have been re-arranged. The produce/deli section is clean and full of fresh fruits, veggies, cheeses and meats for you to add to your cart. There are also more prepared foods to choose from. The rest of the store is also fairly well stocked and much more organized than before. The checkout area was a bit slow this particular day that I had gone but I wasn't in a hurry. It just seemed like they could have had a few more registers open for the number of people waiting in line. Weis is basically the "neighborhood" grocery store as you will likely run into people you knew in high school which can be a good or bad thing. read more

Don't know what's happening to this store, but the quality goes down each time we go there (about once a week). We go there only because of convenience. From lack of brand products to management, they get a zero from us. We feel badly for the employees who hear the brunt of our dissatisfaction, and I'm sure need their jobs. Bottom line: looks like the store is headed for bankruptcy. We're through filling out reviews. Headed for a better store. read more

I worked a wedding and the bride's cake came from Weis in Pen Argle. These people HAVE NO Business being involved in weddings. The brides best friend and maid of honor goes to pick up a "reveal" cake. (color of filling tells them if they are having a boy or girl) They get the cake back and it is ruined! and you can see the color of the icing so now quite a few know the baby's sex. The caterer, hair stylists and I take charge DON'T TELL THE BRIDE! the bridesmaids get on the phone and call Weis and tell them what happened. Rush the cake back they said they would make a new one. Weis calls The BRIDE and tells her they may have to charge her for the second cake!!! REALLY?!? WHAT MORON CALLS THE BRIDE ON HER WEDDING DAY IN THAT SITUATION???? So what happened is Weis put 1 dowel in a 3 tier cake that needed to be transported. Yes ONE. Sorry as a wedding cake vendor either you should deliver a cake and be a wedding vendor or just don't offer it. stands behind there work and DELIVERS the cake to insure it is presented right. IF YOU WANT TO BE A WEDDING VENDOR THEN BE A WEDDING VENDOR... DON'T DO IT HALF ASSED!!! Go to a wedding cake maker that stands behind there work, delivers the cake and sets it up. read more

Corporate Greed at its best, and unorganized to say the least .I ask you why does a 70 year old woman that has a hard time walking have to walk to the farthest corner of the store for a gallon of milk ? But the person who wants beer has to walk no further then the front door, this is fact not fiction , Weis Markets makes believe they are your friendly community food store, The facts are they are more concerned about beer profit to pay for the mistake they made thinking selling beer in a family orientated grocery store would increase there revenue. That and there general practice of Corporate Greed . There ridicules prices compared to the competition tells the story. How is it legal to have the produce right next to the gross smelling bathrooms in the back? There should be a seperatation between the 2 areas. It smells horrid. Makes me not want to buy any produce from that store at all. I could only imagine how the rest of the store (seafood and deli) store their food. No reason for the back area smell so bad and be so dirty. read more

I often run in after a visit at nearby Slate Nursing Home. he cashiers are always helpful. The store is always well stocked and nice and clean. Fresh produce is always available. Enjoy shopping here. read more

Extremely expensive grocery store, I have no clue how some can afford to do their full blown grocery shopping here every single week, honestly. I asked an employee once where the risotto was & he had no idea what it was, asked another time if they sold knishes & the female employee asked "umm is that a fruit?". Small town grocery, don't expect too much in the way of ethnic food unless you consider Old El Paso taco dinner kits as ethnic. Never enough cashiers, often lanes are closed & very long lines. Few times had to return bags of shredded cheese because green moldy cheese fell out of the bag when I was cooking. Bakery is extremely expensive as well, sky high for a package of cookies, unreal. I stopped going there after a while & switched to ShopRite, same products 3 or 4 dollars cheaper. read more

Very expensive cluttered store... Not a good selection... Beer section took away selections in Deli... Main Street Market in Bangor is smaller and cheaper or try Wegmans for a full selection. Staff is not very well trained or helpful here either. read more

this morning as the store opened i enjoyed the relief of not anxiously sharing aisle with hurried customers. what broke the calm? my service dog who was sitting in the cart quietly attending me, began to shake. a large presence with a barrelled voice, did not introduce himself nor say hello or good morning. but i smiled and said good morning politely. there was no reciprocated salutation. only a towering intimidating masked blue collard shirt territorially qualifying mevas a customer... i almost left in tears after a span of awkward questioning. i was alone with a tall masked loud gm questioning my disability... gm - i can't legal ask for an id but is this a service animal? yes, what kind of service does it provide? ...a lump in my throat formed as i was going to produce my card...he held up his hand to stop me, refused it and required that i answer out loud as more people arrived to shop... what service i needed, exactly...after answering his questions he then turned to my dog, pointing his finger, commanded her to stop shaking.... it's not that cold in here. and walked away. as if to grant us the privilege to carry on. read more
