I lived in my home for years and did not know I had hardwood floors beneath the carpeting. I had some stains under the carpet, that they said they would try to clean, but no guarantee. Well, the stains came out perfectly and you would not know they were there. I had G&W take out all the carpeting (quite a job- have them do this for you - well worth the relatively small amount for the time and effort!) and then they cleaned, sanded, refinished and sealed the floors to look as good as new! I found a "surprise" spot under the carpets that was not done with hardwood, so they cut and fitted in some new hardwood to match my original hardwood and when they were done, you could not tell it was not repaired at all. They did take a couple days longer than they estimated, but with the difficulty of the carpet removal, the extra surprise repair and the great job, it was definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend them!

I…read morecan't speak to the 57th Street Bookcase and Cabinets business, but I can very strongly say I do NOT recommend 57st Design. This is a difficult review to write, as the dresser I ended up ordering and receiving from 57st Design is BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I wanted. However, the customer service is SORELY lacking and the journey to receiving this dresser was unpleasant. I recently endeavored to buy American-made solid wood furniture, and 57st Design was one of the three places I ordered from to get new furniture. The other two places I purchased from had totally accurate lead times on their websites, my furniture arrived on time and communication was regular and consistent. I am used to the long wait times for this kind of furniture and have been extremely pleased with the previous two places I ordered from. I ordered a dresser from 57st Design on Sept 15, 2025. The lead time on the website was 12-15 weeks which, unfortunately, put it right in the middle of the holiday season. In the middle of December, I asked what the order status was. I was told promptly that my dresser would be shipping the last week of December or the first week of January. Cue a week-long saga starting December 30th where I try to get anyone to answer me on what the status is now. First week of Jan comes and go with no response. It takes 8 days into the new year for an answer and I strongly feel like I only got an answer because my previous email had acknowledged the possibility of production delays. All in all, my dresser, which is still quoted as 12-15 weeks on their website, took 19 weeks to be delivered to my door. Even allowing for 2 more weeks due to the holiday season, it still took another 2 weeks after that. On top of that, I was given a 2-4pm delivery window and my delivery didn't occur until 6pm. The delivery workers themselves were wonderful and did a great job getting it inside, but being 2 hours late is a bit difficult to accept with a smile. The dresser itself is beautiful and exactly what I needed--I just wish the journey to receiving it went much more smoothly. It seems I'm not alone in experiencing issues with communication. Delays need to be communicated to customers proactively. There needs to be more ways to reach someone besides an email address (that can go unanswered).

Customer service called me and left a message to inform me of the production delay. And, when she, Tobi, couldn't reach me that day she called the very next day! She wanted to ensure I still wanted the chair considering the delay. I did. My gorgeous chair was delivered today, far ahead of schedule. The delivery company they used was awesome! If you've ever worked with other 'Big Store' delivery agents then you might get how impressed I was with them. They took the chair out of the packaging, and finagled it into my tiny elevator, and perfectly delivered it inside my home. I could not be happier!! With construction delays and a death in the client's family from covid-19 the mirror was not opened within 48 hours. When we opened to box within the 30 day return period the mother of pearl was cracked in multiple places and large pieces had fallen off. When I contacted the company and sent photos of the damage they refused to accept the return and only refunded a very small fraction of the cost. Clearly they did not care that the customer had an completely unusable item and had no concern for the customer's satisfaction.

We needed to update our laundry room so I decided to contact them again got the estimate email the quotes agreed on everything felt everything was going very very well however the company refused to schedule me a date and time wanted me to pay for 50% of it upfront and told me that I could only tentatively scheduled for a day and it may change based on their needs. Anyways I feel they don't understand the needs of their clients or in this case former clients we need to take off work request time off use vacation time in order to be home for service and I just expected a better level of basic accommodation. Like being able to schedule service and a day and time that works for both parties. It might be just me but telling someone that the best we can do is tentatively schedule you is unacceptable.
