Wonderful. Went for lunch today. They're very new, very clean, very friendly. Hamburgers hand formed from ground beef you and I buy at the store. French fries cut fresh throughout the day, cooked to order. I requested mine be salted as soon as they were out of the fryer. No problem. Delicious, juicy. The menu, while not extensive is comprehensive, and includes steaks, salmon, shrimp, pork chops, chicken, sandwiches, and other items, which means they'll make everything perfectly. The food was tasty and the waitstaff was very nice. We're traveling and stopped because of a billboard and after consulting Yelp, we decided to try it. The Hot Roast Beef Sandwich had very good beef (prepared in-house) and gravy. The mashed potatoes were of a strange consistency and didn't compliment the dish at all. The salad bar had a pleasing variety of fresh items. The only drawback was the location (back corner of a hotel) and the feel of a place I wouldn't want to be at after dark. read more

We were excited to eat here due to the posts. I ordered a Gold meal which was a smaller meal for 6.99. I ended up with a large meal.while food was ok I ended up having to pay for large meal. We were traveling from Colorado across Kansas on our way to Alabama and found this awesome little place to eat lunch. We love finding places that the locals hang out. The restaurant is very friendly and the food is delicious and the service was excellent. Friendly, reasonably priced, good alternative to fast food on way to Colorado! Bonus score at end was free warm chocolate chip cookies! Excellent little surprising find! Cozy, homey, super-clean, great service, and the food was wonderful. We ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich w/ Fries and the BLT w/Fries and Side Salad -- both were perfectly prepared, nice portion, and the crispy dills were so good! Welcome Home Cafe is exactly what I had hoped for. Located in an industrial type building, the entrance is unassuming. The actual cafe is also unassuming: ten square tables, tile ceiling. But Very very clean. Very very good. 7 tables were occupied. One table of five ladies were delightfully chatting about weather, neighbors and other local news. I had salad bar ( first one I've seen in a while) which was fresh-- lettuce was generic but topping were fresh and crisp. There were tomatoes, peppers, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, pine nuts, dried cherries, chocolate chips, croutons, and more! My salad dressing was honey mustard ; the bottle was dated 1/22. I'm confident it was homemade and fresh. I declined to order the fried chicken which is the specialty. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Hot, juicy. Good. I orders it w/out garnish. My husband had a cheeseburger. The hamburger looked to be fresh not frozen. If you're driving on I 70, definitely support this family owned restaurant. The bill came to 27.00 and was presented with 2 chocolate chip cookies. So glad we stopped! read more

Good, home cooking. We stopped for lunch. We had philly steak burger, the chicken bacon ranch and the fish and chips. All were excellent. The fries are hand cut and fresh. The service was fast. They also gave us fresh baked chocolate cookies for dessert. No charge. They are closed from 2-5, so might not work for everyone, but we got there at 1, so it was perfect for us. Delicious and just off the highway. We stopped here while traveling I-70, and are so happy we did. It might take a little longer than fast food but it is worth it. The burger was good with a toasted bun. Homemade fries and the side of spicy green chile sauce were outstanding. Hot beef sandwich was served open face with real mashed potatoes and gravy. Judging by the speed with which my son devoured it, he really liked it. I had the Sunday Dinner special. Salad bar, lasagna, delicious green beans, garlic bread, and a drink for $12.99. (And more than I could eat, but I tried because it was good!) I am not sure where the other people ate that posted here, but we had a terrible meal. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich. It was extremely greasy with no seasoning at all. The highlight of mine was the bread and butter pickle chips. My wife had the special. BBQ meatballs and scalloped potatoes. 2 meatballs and a bit of potatoes green beans with bacon, not cooked with bacon and spiced apples with again NO spice for 9.99. Again no seasoning and bottled sauce. The restaurant itself felt like we were eating in a church fellowship hall. Very plain. Mediocre all around. We arrived right as they opened at 11. We were the first through the salad bar and several items were out as if they just set out the used containers from the night before. The waitresses all had sloppy appearances, uncombed hair, no makeup, etc and didn't seem to know what they were doing. We ordered coffee which wasn't ready at first. Our waitress actually called to us from the table she sat at rolling silverware "the coffee is ready if you just want to help yourself." Whoever made the coffee didn't know what they were doing also. It was so weak one creamer turned it white. On top of that they ran out of creamer. We were hopefully for the food, but it was also a disappointment. The chicken fried steak tasted like it was fried in old burnt grease. Everything was bland. Tired from our drive, we stopped at one of the hotels "across the street" and ate here because it was quick and easy. We had a little trouble finding the place, but kept driving around back and found the way in. I'm not normally a big fan of burgers, but I really liked the salsa covered burger. Very tasty. Hubby tried the chicken-fried-steak, and didn't care for it. Since we think these people know how to cook, we'll know not to order that any where else. Service was great. read more

On a trip out to Colby visiting a friend at a local college we stopped by here for early lunch, and payed much less for what we got. The small town hospitality and combination of the in house freshly cooked food made for an excellent experience, and before we left we just had to pick up one of their signature Jams made locally just to add some icing on top of my experience. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. We arrived for lunch at 11:20 and by noon the restaurant was nearly full of locals. The owner knew most of her customers other than us who had just gotten off of I-70 at Colby. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children and everyone was very satisfied with the food and service. I told the owner who by the way brought out our food right from the kitchen that I would have ordered some fried chicken had I had more time. The food we received was just like home cooking from grandma. The hamburger was made and pressed by hand, chicken fried anything also hand breaded, french fries cut in the restaurant, and the coffee was great. The owner brought us out some fried chicken, cream corn, and peach cobbler all of which were sooooooo good. These folks made me feel like I was home and the food and prices were excellent. We got in a little late. Didn't realize they had about an hour and half before closing. Greeting was good. Restraunt is a hole in the wall which usually are good. Reason for one star is simple. Walked in was greeted sat down. Waited 5 min with no one else in the restraunt for her to come ask for drinks. Then waited another 15 min while she was in the back doing who the hell knows. Finally just walked out. Very disappointed. If you had to take that long just to get drinks out than politely tell me that your closing so I can get somewhere else to get my 3 little ones feed. Not have me sitting for 20 min and not even saying anything while your hostess just sits there playing on her phone . ONE star rating is also do to there manager saying it was our fault and we are having a bad day in a comment on this review that we posted. LIKE I said the waitress was sweet as well as the hostess but it doesn't take 15 MINUTES to get two sodas and 3 small kids chocolate milks...... I have read that a few people have had similar issues on yelp. So don't say it's my family that has the problem. I would give 2 negative stars for that...
