Rockey's is the very definition of "family campground." It's a place where people bring their kids…read moreand pets to relax, play in the water, and sit by the campfire. Lots of, possibly the majority of, people here are on seasonal sites, and some make these these quite homey, with screened porches, hedges, light displays and statuary. Campers are packed pretty tightly together, but if you came here you probably weren't looking for solitude. Though there were a lot of people here, it was quiet overall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Other campers were pretty friendly too. The firewood we got was dry and easy to burn. We appreciated the cleanliness. The grounds were well maintained, and bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, though water pressure gets weak if more than one person is showering at the same time. If you don't feel like walking all the way to the modern bathhouse, there are outhouses scattered through the campground, though I'd recommend just walking to the bathhouse. Rockey's is situated on a chain of small lakes, and there are some decent fish to be found in these. There's a concrete boat launch, as well as fishing boats and canoes for rent. When I was unloading my kayak by the boat launch, one of the owners said it was no problem for me to leave it on the lawn by the launch, and that I could safely leave all my gear by it with no worries. He as right. We were tent camping, which I think few people do there, and this did present some inconveniences. Some of the sites have few trees...like ours, and a little protection from the sun would have been nice. A lack of trees also left us with no place to string up our clothesline. There are streetlights along the campground lanes, which are handy for walking to the bathhouse after dark, but make your tent very bright at night. Rockey's doesn't cater to tenters, but some do come there, and for them it will be less than ideal. But for others it should be more than satisfactory,

The pool looked so inviting if it would have been warmer, May 31st. The only thing negative I would say is no trees, hot days would be unbearable and the golf carts speeding around playing loud music till late in the evening. I have a seasonal at another campground and we're not allowed golf carts, I understand why now. Everyone is there to relax not to be entertained. As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

Some spots along the river have better visuals as some of the weeds need to be trimmed for optimum viewing. Our spot for an extended weekend had an obstructed view of the river and the boats as a result of the weeds. Each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. The office sells fire wood and ice and other items needed for camping. Property is easy to walk and offers a dog park. Free WiFi that works VERY well. Best I've used in an RV resort. Pool, hot tub, and tennis courts are on the grounds as well. We enjoyed our time here and plan on returning next year, hopefully the weeds are trimmed by then.

It is so peaceful and relaxing, There are usually a dozen or more vehicles parked so I know others enjoy watching the waves too, In the summer we enjoy the beach, wading and swimming. All year round you can watch a beautiful sunset. There are good views of Big Red from the park. It is nice that you can park very close to the beach, so if there is anyone is unable to walk longer distances this is the perfect place. The only drawback is that dogs aren't allowed on the beach.

For the best chance to avoid traffic arrive super early or wait until late afternoon when the families have headed home. No lifeguards. Swim at your own risk. Motor vehicle permit required.

A huge pro were the bathrooms, I was beyond shocked with how luxurious they felt for being campground bathrooms. I would recommend booking sites 1-116 (do research-online map includes picture/s) because these sites have shade unlike some on the other side. We stayed at site 45 and really enjoyed our stay. Across the campground is the lake and you are able to kayak (free if you bring your own like I did). Beautiful atmosphere and would always recommend! Family friendly

The restrooms are clean (bug plus!), showers are clean, easy access to clean water, close to the Holland Park, electricity, and the campsites are neat and clean. You don't need anything else except your tent/RV and food. You'll have fun there!
