When you go to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay you know what you're in for. Incredible views, incredible property, and incredibly high prices. As a non-guest of the hotel, Welina Terrace (the sushi bar on the 9th floor) is my favorite dinner spot on property. The sushi is outstanding, definitely high-end and priced accordingly, but the quality backs it up. The real draw is the incredible view, which is what you're ultimately paying for, especially around sunset. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience even better. I've noticed that if you make a reservation and aren't a hotel guest, there's a good chance you'll end up at a less desirable table. In my experience they save the good outdoor tables for hotel guests. My recommendation is to skip the table altogether, grab a seat at the bar, order a cocktail, take in the sunset, and enjoy a few bites of sushi. The standout dish is the spicy tuna crispy rice. It's the best I've ever had, and believe me I've had a lot of spicy tuna crispy rice. Perfectly crisp, packed with flavor, and worth ordering every single time. For the best experience, come for sunset, sit at the bar, and enjoy a drink and some sushi while soaking in one of the best views on Kauai.

This is a restaurant located inside 1 Hanalei bay hotel. We stayed here to celebrate our special occasion and hence wanted to try out this restaurant. The views are amazing. North Shore in Kauai is all about views and relaxation. Service was excellent. We had to book in advance though as it can be pretty crowded. We ordered a veggie roll appetizer and another one. Both were tasting great. Also the waiter brought a black sesame mochi cake for dessert with a candle to celebrate our moment. The food and the service, views, ambience everything was great, must visit!

Welima terrace is all about the Hanalei Bay views. SInce it is insidew the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, Welima Terrace is super expensive. My order: Veggie Roll Crispy Rice Black Sesame Mochi Cake MAHINA MELE Loved my food! The vegiie roll was like a veggie california roll with a mix of Cucumber, Avocado, Asparagus, and Shiso Leaves. The highlight was the crispy rice. Golden fried , sumptuopus riceand it was delicious! To top it off , they gave us a candle to separate our special occasion over a black sesame mochi caked. Cocktails were great with local spirits. I would recommend booking a table in advance, show up early and the best time would be 30 mins before sunset, so I showed up at 6PM. The views were a killer. The resturant also has a DJ and is open late in the night but after sunset the views become really dark.

Welina Terrace, located on the lobby level of the beautiful 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay (a luxury, eco-conscious resort), is an open-air, modern Japanese sushi bar and lounge offering a petite, locally/seasonally inspired menu. Valet park your car, and the relaxing, romantic vibe is set from the moment you arrive: wooden textures all around, neutral tones, flowing water, uplighting, and lush greenery...and then the stunning views of Hanalei Bay surrounded by mountains jutting out of the ocean. We were lucky to be there to watch the sun set...perfection for our first night! We shared a lot of the menu items and and enjoyed everything we ordered, with our eyes and our mouths: -EDAMAME - Hawaiian Red Salt (V, GF, NF, DF) -CHICKEN KARAAGE - Tare Sauce Glazed, Shishito Peppers, Sesame seeds, Green Onion, Lime -LOCAL GREENS SALAD - Carrots, Heart of Palm, Cucumber, Apple, Ginger Lemon Soy Dressing -LOCAL AHI ROLL* - Spicy Ahi Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber, Shiso Leaves, Ponzu, Serrano Pepper -HAMACHI ROLL* - Negihama, Cucumber, Local Ahi, Fresh Tomato Serrano Relish -VEGGIE ROLL - Cucumber, Avocado, Asparagus, Shiso Leaves, Miso Wafu, Chili Oil, Crunchy Garlic -CRISPY RICE* - Local Spicy Ahi, Chili Aioli, Crispy Shallots, Green Onion, Unagi Sauce Many of the items can be made gluten-free upon request. Presentation: beautiful Flavors: FRESH!!!, delicious, inspired Service: attentive Prices: Island resort! Rolls ranged from $30-$40 each. Plus valet parking. It was a pricey dinner but the setting, the fresh fish, and the refreshing craft cocktails were worth it!

I got lucky to spend my birthday here; our plan was to explore our options at the hotel and settle on whatever mood struck. This was our first and last spot. We were seated promptly at a cozy table inside with couches; we didn't want to wait for an outside table (tip: make a reservation). The cocktails were not only beautiful, but absolutely delicious and fresh. We loved each dish we ordered and the menu is big - and has something for almost everyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine. The views are incredible - especially at the outside tables. However we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset where we were inside. Service was excellent - considering how busy it was. You wouldn't know it by how attentive and professional our server was. Excellent evening here and we'll be back. Mahalo to the Welina Terrace team.

5 star views with a 4 star experience! Sushi was great and the menu has some really good options as well. They only thing that didn't make it 5 was the service which might have been because of then weather. It started to rain and people wanted to move inside and they had a hard time trying to adjust to that. Also I could tell that our server was getting frustrated with it all. On top of that kind of annoying a $20 valet which seems a bit upscale but this hotel is very upscale.

Amazing views, who cares if the food is a little more expensive - it's worth it for the experience! My only negative is the music type/volume, it truly didn't seem to be the type of crowd to enjoy loud music while on the patio trying to listen to ocean waves. Our server was fantastic and they have items on the menu for everyone!

First and foremost you will experience the most amazing views during your meal. Service was amazing, attentive and friendly. The food was great too, but I would say you're going here mostly for the views of Hanalei. We ordered the karage, brussel sprouts, tuna crispy rice, chili hamachi, and the chili salmon roll. I loved the brussels and tuna crispy rice. Karage was good too but not my favorite of the 3 appetizers. I'm not a big salmon person but the roll was actually really good. The hamachi was my favorite of the two fish! We ordered both desserts the cheesecake and the mochi with ice cream. Loved the mochi dessert I would recommend that one! Overall great experience :)

Welina Terrace is hands down one of the best spots on Kaua'i in Princeville to catch a breathtaking sunset. This modern lounge, inspired by Japanese aesthetics, sits perfectly overlooking Hanalei Bay. We heard it was a must-visit, so we made it a priority to stop by and soak in the view. Even without a reservation, they kindly gave us an hour starting at Four PM to enjoy ourselves, which was more than enough to sip on some drinks and take in the stunning scenery. Our server, Christina, was absolutely gorgeous and had this incredible smile that could light up the whole room. She was so charming and friendly that it made the entire dining experience even better. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed what she was doing, and it showed in the way she interacted with everyone. Honestly, her positive energy was contagious, and it felt like she went out of her way to make sure we were all happy and taken care of. It's rare to come across someone who can make such a simple moment feel so special, but Christina definitely had that magic touch! The waves crashing in the distance and the golden hues of the sunset made it feel like we were in a postcard-perfect moment. It was simple, peaceful, and exactly what we needed to check off our bucket list.

We had an excellent dinner at Welina Terrace! The crispy rice is amazing!

Welina Terrace is one of the beautiful restaurants at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay in Princeville, Kauai. This restaurant has some of the most delicious and fresh sushi I have ever had, paired with delicious craft cocktails, and super friendly and welcoming service which makes this hotel and restaurant one of the best in the state. I was celebrating my birthday with my family and we decided to order a few different plates. Local Ahi Crudo, Local Kanpachi, and Chili Hamachi Nigiri, they're even surprised us with black sesame, mochi cake! It was so delicious and the burnt cream gelato tied it all together wonderfully.

You come here for the views and drinks. The ambience is sensual, fun, and sophisticated. But I would only recommend that and save your dining experience for somewhere with more quality. Service was so kind and knowledgeable of the menu. Menu is simple and straightforward starting with bites then a sashimi style section and last some rolls. Crispy Rice - it was so deep fried that it lost its flavor and had a hard crunch. 3/5 stars. Chicken Karaage is 'popular' but it wasn't crispy. Breading had more of a rubbery texture. 3/5 stars. Local Ahi Crudo - it was fine but not memorable as you'd hope for being locally caught. 4/5 stars Hamachi Roll - pretty good and light that still packed an array of flavors. 5/5 stars Cured Local Kanpachi - definitely the star on the table. Loved the balance of sweet orange and red onion zest. 5/5 stars. Basque Cheesecake - 5 stars. Really tasty that balanced a dense texture but light filling.

I cannot imagine that they do not have a corkage fee but if you call the number that I found just now on TripAdvisor.com you might find out if they do charge a corkage fee and how much it is. 808-826-9644

Yes you can go for cocktails ..they usually have live music. It is hard to get a reservation but go early -5 or 5:30 and you should be able to grab a seat for cocktails
