The views of Welina Terrace are unbeatable. Where else can you enjoy the sunset having a cocktail with majestic green mountains in the background? This place fills up fast so you def. need a rezzie. They have live music every night - and the music was quite good. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks - the first one I had was my favorite (la niebla) and the second one was OK (afterglow). Both were tequila drinks - I felt the second one was too strong and the flavor was not coming through as I expected. My hubby got a beer on draft and of course that was refreshing. He also got the la niebla and really enjoyed that as well. They have a food menu that can be ordered at the bar but we were only there for drinks. Def. recommend checking place out - the combo of the views, drinks, and music will be a night to remember. Don't forget to bring cash so you can tip your musician.

Food: We had various dishes off the menu to include karaage, edamame, shishito peppers, brussel spouts, hamachi kama and various sushi rolls....all of which were delicious. Service: we did note on our reservation that we were celebrating 2 birthdays and our wedding anniversary which our server did acknowledge but I was surprised he did not bring out any type of complimentary dessert considering the celebration. This is typically something establishments will do especially if we spent close to $400 on our bill. I suppose this is not standard practice for Welina Terrace. Ambiance: The restaurant itself was lively, had nice decor and the views were spectacular which is what I think you are truly paying for with a dining experience here. They also had live music which was great. Overall, we were impressed with the location and food and they could have earned 5-stars if they were to throw in a complimentary dessert for the occasions we were celebrating but a 4-star review is still worth the visit if youre in Kaua'i.

When you go to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay you know what you're in for. Incredible views, incredible property, and incredibly high prices. As a non-guest of the hotel, Welina Terrace (the sushi bar on the 9th floor) is my favorite dinner spot on property. The sushi is outstanding, definitely high-end and priced accordingly, but the quality backs it up. The real draw is the incredible view, which is what you're ultimately paying for, especially around sunset. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience even better. I've noticed that if you make a reservation and aren't a hotel guest, there's a good chance you'll end up at a less desirable table. In my experience they save the good outdoor tables for hotel guests. My recommendation is to skip the table altogether, grab a seat at the bar, order a cocktail, take in the sunset, and enjoy a few bites of sushi. The standout dish is the spicy tuna crispy rice. It's the best I've ever had, and believe me I've had a lot of spicy tuna crispy rice. Perfectly crisp, packed with flavor, and worth ordering every single time. For the best experience, come for sunset, sit at the bar, and enjoy a drink and some sushi while soaking in one of the best views on Kauai.

Kimberly u racist. Welina Terrace itself was beautiful, and the food and drinks were excellent. I fully understand that this is an upscale restaurant, and I have no issue with servers recommending specials or higher-end items. The problem was the way our server, Kimberly, repeatedly made us feel like we did not belong there. After we declined the more expensive specials she was pushing, her demeanor changed noticeably. She made faces, questioned our choices, and even started asking whether we were staying at the hotel--questions that, in the context of everything else, felt less like friendly conversation and more like she was trying to size us up. It felt like a series of subtle class-based and racial microaggressions rather than normal hospitality. The most uncomfortable part was that, while we were still in the middle of dinner, she took the menu away and told us she was ready to get us the check. We had not asked for it and were clearly still eating. Taken together, the experience made us feel profiled, unwelcome, and treated as though we were somehow beneath the clientele she expected at an upscale resort. I cannot know Kimberly's intentions, but I can describe how her behavior came across to us: discriminatory, classist, and racially charged. No guest should be made to feel that they need to prove they belong at a restaurant based on where they are staying or how much they choose to spend. That is especially disappointing because everything else about Welina Terrace--the setting, food, drinks, and atmosphere--was genuinely excellent. Management should take this kind of treatment seriously.

This is a restaurant located inside 1 Hanalei bay hotel. We stayed here to celebrate our special occasion and hence wanted to try out this restaurant. The views are amazing. North Shore in Kauai is all about views and relaxation. Service was excellent. We had to book in advance though as it can be pretty crowded. We ordered a veggie roll appetizer and another one. Both were tasting great. Also the waiter brought a black sesame mochi cake for dessert with a candle to celebrate our moment. The food and the service, views, ambience everything was great, must visit!

Welima terrace is all about the Hanalei Bay views. SInce it is insidew the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, Welima Terrace is super expensive. My order: Veggie Roll Crispy Rice Black Sesame Mochi Cake MAHINA MELE Loved my food! The vegiie roll was like a veggie california roll with a mix of Cucumber, Avocado, Asparagus, and Shiso Leaves. The highlight was the crispy rice. Golden fried , sumptuopus riceand it was delicious! To top it off , they gave us a candle to separate our special occasion over a black sesame mochi caked. Cocktails were great with local spirits. I would recommend booking a table in advance, show up early and the best time would be 30 mins before sunset, so I showed up at 6PM. The views were a killer. The resturant also has a DJ and is open late in the night but after sunset the views become really dark.

Stayed at the 1Hotel so it was easy to get a reservation at Welina Terrace. They do take some time to seat you and to bring out food but worth the experience. You really go here for the views. The food was okay - not the greatest. We really enjoyed the edamame and crispy rice. Very pricey but felt filling with just 2 dishes. Go for the experience or photos!

Welina Terrace, located on the lobby level of the beautiful 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay (a luxury, eco-conscious resort), is an open-air, modern Japanese sushi bar and lounge offering a petite, locally/seasonally inspired menu. Valet park your car, and the relaxing, romantic vibe is set from the moment you arrive: wooden textures all around, neutral tones, flowing water, uplighting, and lush greenery...and then the stunning views of Hanalei Bay surrounded by mountains jutting out of the ocean. We were lucky to be there to watch the sun set...perfection for our first night! We shared a lot of the menu items and and enjoyed everything we ordered, with our eyes and our mouths: -EDAMAME - Hawaiian Red Salt (V, GF, NF, DF) -CHICKEN KARAAGE - Tare Sauce Glazed, Shishito Peppers, Sesame seeds, Green Onion, Lime -LOCAL GREENS SALAD - Carrots, Heart of Palm, Cucumber, Apple, Ginger Lemon Soy Dressing -LOCAL AHI ROLL* - Spicy Ahi Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber, Shiso Leaves, Ponzu, Serrano Pepper -HAMACHI ROLL* - Negihama, Cucumber, Local Ahi, Fresh Tomato Serrano Relish -VEGGIE ROLL - Cucumber, Avocado, Asparagus, Shiso Leaves, Miso Wafu, Chili Oil, Crunchy Garlic -CRISPY RICE* - Local Spicy Ahi, Chili Aioli, Crispy Shallots, Green Onion, Unagi Sauce Many of the items can be made gluten-free upon request. Presentation: beautiful Flavors: FRESH!!!, delicious, inspired Service: attentive Prices: Island resort! Rolls ranged from $30-$40 each. Plus valet parking. It was a pricey dinner but the setting, the fresh fish, and the refreshing craft cocktails were worth it!

I got lucky to spend my birthday here; our plan was to explore our options at the hotel and settle on whatever mood struck. This was our first and last spot. We were seated promptly at a cozy table inside with couches; we didn't want to wait for an outside table (tip: make a reservation). The cocktails were not only beautiful, but absolutely delicious and fresh. We loved each dish we ordered and the menu is big - and has something for almost everyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine. The views are incredible - especially at the outside tables. However we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset where we were inside. Service was excellent - considering how busy it was. You wouldn't know it by how attentive and professional our server was. Excellent evening here and we'll be back. Mahalo to the Welina Terrace team.

5 star views with a 4 star experience! Sushi was great and the menu has some really good options as well. They only thing that didn't make it 5 was the service which might have been because of then weather. It started to rain and people wanted to move inside and they had a hard time trying to adjust to that. Also I could tell that our server was getting frustrated with it all. On top of that kind of annoying a $20 valet which seems a bit upscale but this hotel is very upscale.

Welina Terrace is hands down one of the best spots on Kaua'i in Princeville to catch a breathtaking sunset. This modern lounge, inspired by Japanese aesthetics, sits perfectly overlooking Hanalei Bay. We heard it was a must-visit, so we made it a priority to stop by and soak in the view. Even without a reservation, they kindly gave us an hour starting at Four PM to enjoy ourselves, which was more than enough to sip on some drinks and take in the stunning scenery. Our server, Christina, was absolutely gorgeous and had this incredible smile that could light up the whole room. She was so charming and friendly that it made the entire dining experience even better. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed what she was doing, and it showed in the way she interacted with everyone. Honestly, her positive energy was contagious, and it felt like she went out of her way to make sure we were all happy and taken care of. It's rare to come across someone who can make such a simple moment feel so special, but Christina definitely had that magic touch! The waves crashing in the distance and the golden hues of the sunset made it feel like we were in a postcard-perfect moment. It was simple, peaceful, and exactly what we needed to check off our bucket list.

Amazing views, who cares if the food is a little more expensive - it's worth it for the experience! My only negative is the music type/volume, it truly didn't seem to be the type of crowd to enjoy loud music while on the patio trying to listen to ocean waves. Our server was fantastic and they have items on the menu for everyone!

First and foremost you will experience the most amazing views during your meal. Service was amazing, attentive and friendly. The food was great too, but I would say you're going here mostly for the views of Hanalei. We ordered the karage, brussel sprouts, tuna crispy rice, chili hamachi, and the chili salmon roll. I loved the brussels and tuna crispy rice. Karage was good too but not my favorite of the 3 appetizers. I'm not a big salmon person but the roll was actually really good. The hamachi was my favorite of the two fish! We ordered both desserts the cheesecake and the mochi with ice cream. Loved the mochi dessert I would recommend that one! Overall great experience :)

Food was good, but the menu is overpriced and overly fancy for what's essentially a poolside restaurant. The host experience is what knocked this down to 3 stars. We showed up about 5 minutes before opening with nobody else waiting. The hostess offered to put us on the waitlist, with no explanation: no mention that they were fully booked, or that they could work us in. When I pushed back a bit, she said she could seat us at 5:30, when they opened, literally 4 minutes later, and suggested we grab a drink at the bar across the pool area first. Just telling us "we're opening in a few minutes, hang tight" would've gone a long way. Food's solid, but the whole interaction felt unnecessarily complicated and unwelcoming.

I almost canceled after seeing a few mixed reviews online, but I'm really glad we decided to go anyway. First off - you really come here for the atmosphere and the view. It is absolutely incredible! Sitting outdoors taking in the Kauaʻi landscape is top-tier. The menu itself is pretty limited. Here's what we tried: Papaya Salad: Really refreshing and tasty, though a bit steep on the price tag for what it is. Pork Belly Ramen: good but definitely not authentic-level ramen and at $30 (even with the added spicy miso sauce) it was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. Sesame/Ground Pork Soup (Hubs' order): He got a dish with ground pork and udon noodles in a sesame base broth, and that one was actually really delicious! Service was stellar! Our waiter, Keoni, was super attentive, friendly, and awesome overall. While the ramen prices are on the high side for what you get, the view, service, and ambiance made it a wonderful evening out on our trip!
