I am usually pretty skeptical of a Thai and sushi combination restaurant. It's hard to do both well. It usually ends up being very mediocre. That wasn't the case here. The crunch roll was great, I would get it all the time. They put some unagi sauce and crunchy bits on top of a spicy tuna roll. Usually it's with shrimp. This is better and the tuna was super fresh. Rainbow roll was decent, but not as good as the spicy tuna roll. The krab mix was kinda bland. The Salmon & yellowtail were mild but not as fresh as the tuna. The Ono curry was really good, it was flavorful, creamy & spicy. The fish was fresh, portion was generous and it was our favorite Thai dish for the evening. The pad thai was good, we got the shrimp and it didn't have that many. That's not super surprising. The cashew chicken was the weakest link for the Thai dishes, it was a little one note. Was a little oily and not as flavorful as the other Thai dishes we ordered. Prices were affordable, especially for Kauia standards. Service was very good, they were attentive and friendly. I would go back and order the crunch roll & Ono curry & try new things. read more

Everything was delicious. My husband had the drunken noodles and devoured the whole thing. I had Ono Curry and it was delicious. We came in right before the airport. We were just a table of two and they were luckily able to seat us right away but for larger parties, I recommend making a reservation. We ordered a few rolls and sashimi. It was really good. The fact that they serve both sushi and Thai made it a crowd pleaser! Green curry was delicious. It felt sweet, but it had a hint of spice that will catch up with you later. I want to remake this green curry recipe! Highly recommend this curry. Staff and service was nice and attentive. Been craving Thai cuisine for a while and glad I found Big Monster. I tried ordered their Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, Mango Sticky Rice, and Thai Iced Tea. Fairly enough, I wasn't crazy for the two dishes but I still enjoyed them. The mango sticky rice and ice tea on the other hand were delicious. I'll want to try a few more things off their menu. Sorry, but this was a disappointment after the fabulous meal at Monster Sushi in Lihui last year. At that time, this pace was being built, so we were excited to come back and try. I'm a strong believer that if you can't do something well, don't do it all. The Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) had almost no flavor at all. No basil, no heat, nothing. The noodles were just meh. The sushi we ordered (several different rolls) were pretty good but definitely not as good as what we had at MS Lihui. We also ordered a couple of puu puus (egg rolls, crab wontons) that were good but expensive for the tiny portions. We're sticking to food trucks more because we've found them to have better food with better pricing than brick and mortar places. read more

Honestly no idea how this place has good reviews. The service from the lady in the front was lovely though which is saving this review. She was prompt, sweet and swift! Maybe we ordered the wrong things but I always worry when you order and the food comes out the same minute the waitress walks away. Firstly the edamame -000001/10 Do not spend the extra $1 on spicy just don't do it. You're paying $1 for some chilli flakes to be thrown on top. The first bite I had was COLD. Like frozen cold. Then the rest was steaming hot. 101% microwaved tasting edamame with some salt on top. Don't get me wrong it was edible but it was just a waste of $7. The chicken dumpling soup also came out within 2 mins. I was a little scared to eat it since the dumplings felt so hard and it was practically boiling on the table which also felt and tasted microwaved with some precooked bagged chicken. 1/10. Now for $27 you'd expect the crab fried rice to be incredible. It tasted like the cheap crab fried rice you get from a 1 star Thai place for half the price. Absolutely insane. 1/10. Soz for the bad picture I forgot to take a photo until the end. Spicy miso soup was also AVERAGE. This place is the definition of MID. It's all edible, overpriced and just not worth ever going back. The first thing I noticed was how clean this place is. We can for an early dinner, but it seemed like locals were on to this place as a bunch of take out orders showed up. The young man who took care of us was sweet and attentive. We had Thai spring rolls and crispy Thai rolls for apps. On point and the peanut sauce was spectacular. I got the Thai veggie stir fry with tofu. It was perfect. The tofu was a little crispy and soft inside. My husband had the drunken noodle and ate the whole thing in like two minutes and that is not because the portion was small. Sketched out on photos because we weee starving. We stayed in Kapa'a while on Kauai for 2 weeks, and we finally made it to Big Monster! This is their 2nd location on Kauai that just opened a couple weeks ago. Y'all, get here- it's amazing!! Easy parking in the lot & ~10 tables to sit at, and there were several people coming in to grab takeout orders. The service was great & the food was pretty quick! We tried the crispy egg rolls to start & they were lightly breaded, super fresh. The chicken dumpling soup was so tasty, the broth was hearty & had 2 big dumplings in it, topped with bok choy and cilantro. The star of the show was the drunken noodles with beef... the beef was freshly cooked steak, cooked perfectly juicy, and the noodles & veggies were divine! I wanted to order more to go but decided that was gluttonous :) All in all, Big Monster is an excellent Thai restaurant on Kauai... their Lihue location serves sushi & this Kapa'a location will too in a few weeks. It is all so good, give it a try.. you won't be let down! read more

I was craving authentic Thai/Lao food after seeing so many tik tok videos. I went in and knew exactly what I wanted which was one of their special dishes the Khao Man Gai (Hainanese Chicken Rice). The server was kind and food didn't take long at all. The portion was huge and the rice was sooooo tasty!! I also had my favorite soft shell crab tempura and their homemade lemonade!
