    Paradise Roll
    C D.

Got the bacon-wrapped shrimp (would've eaten my weight in these) the Paradise roll (divine!) and husband was extremely pleased with his yummy Chicken Katsu bowl. Service was fast and hostess was so kind - she remembered I'd asked about whether some of the menu items had gluten in them & when it came time to take our order, had made sure to give us GF soy sauce. Absolutely hit the spot!

Wow!! I am so impressed with this little place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly staff, delicious sushi and a casual ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My sushi even came with a little puppy (and the waitress let me take him home!!) My Dragon Roll and Hibachi Nigiri were absolutely delicious. Mahalo, I will be back!

Great new spot that we discovered! Haven't been home for about 3yrs and I would highly recommend. From the bento boxes to the sushi rolls, we went home stuffed and our family had lots of leftovers. My aunt and uncle invited our family to have dinner and suggested their new spot. It's in Kapaa town, super easy to find right by the Taco Bell. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walked in and realized it's not very big at all but the place was filled with mostly locals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was great and my aunt said she was the best server. Lol! We've found that most places in Hawaii don't make sushi like the mainland. I can only imagine the reason for it is not wanting to take away from the freshness of the fish. Anyway, sushi rolls were amazing! I had the bento that came with miso soup, gyoza, salad, rice, teriyaki chicken and katsu. We had a ton of food on the table!! When we got home, my husband and I agreed that we'd come here again before our usual "sushi" spot on the island. I'm telling all my friends to check this place out and so should you.

Some of the best sushi on Kauai. I had the Sensei roll and it was melt in your mouth good. It was so good I had to get one to go. The service was spot on and was very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really liked the Japan feel of the entire place. It made you feel like you were actually in Japan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I like this place! 5 stars. Bento box was a lot of fun. Way too many options but went with the all category option and the Miso Fish was very good. Reminded me of the good old days. Overall 4.5 stars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The menu has sushi and sashimi options galore and the ambiance is quite updated with a flair of Japan and Kauai.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is excellent 5 stars abe bring your vegetarian friends. They will find options to enjoy eating with you. I'll be back.

Sushi was incredibly fresh and priced amazingly for the quality. Ordered several nigiri, hamachi toro sashimi and two salmon hand rolls; the Nori was crisp and perfect. Service was impeccable. Cant wait to return!

This place is right behind the No. 1, which confused us, but once you know, it's easy to find. There is plenty of parking. The photos of the sushi rolls on the TV are very appealing and are what got us through the door. The service is quick and friendly. The servers are extremely patient and I was grateful they didn't get mad that we were not sure where to sit because we wanted a good view of the TV to watch the basketball game going on. The bento boxes were solid. The gyoza were beautifully fried and crispy. The salad was good, but the dressing was way too sweet. The salmon teriyaki was cooked and seasoned well. The vegetable tempura was ok. The chicken karaage and chicken Katsu were delicious!! The meat was soft and tender and they had a great crunch. Perfect and I totally recommend. The rolls were also hit-or-miss and like I said, we got them based on pictures. I do not recall the names of the rolls and I am sorry, but I think they were the first two on the speciality rolls. The one with the seared salmon and spicy mayo on top was delicious. The other roll just felt harder. The pink soy paper may be pretty, but it didn't taste very good. Beware of the mosquitoes here. I had no bites until I came to this restaurant. Overall though, this was a good restaurant and would recommend coming here again. It gets busy and a lot of groups come in and it is a casual atmosphere where you can hang out and catch up with friends. The price for the food is decent and you will get a generous portion.

Would eat here again. Reasonable pricing, walked out full and no complaints here. So many choices on the menu!

This is an updated review. It was date night again and the last time we were here we enjoy it!.So we returned..It wasn't very bz so we were seated promptly..So after receiving our drinks we ordered a few new dishes.Such as the Ruby roll, shrimp tempura roll n the Tonkatsu Don just to name a few.We enjoyed it very much!!.Flavors were just right, fresh n not overly seasoned.[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the ambiance. The place is not to big n not so noisy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]The service was above average. We can't wait to return n try more of there dishes!!.

L-R: Kauai roll, shrimp and veggie tempura, and salmon poppers.

We had high hopes for Sensei Sushi but were a bit disappointed. There is a Sensei restaurant in Kihei on Maui that we love and had hoped this place was associated. However, I do not think that is the case. We had miso soup, the Kauai roll, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and the salmon poppers. A bit too much sauce on the big roll and the salmon poppers. Good variety on the tempura. The place is low-key, the drinks were strong ($7.50 cocktails, $6 wines, $4.50 beers) pretty inexpensive for Kauai. Generous portions and good value, (4 drinks and 4 dishes for $60.)

Full bar but not really accessible.

This place is a solid three stars, to me, meaning decent but nothing to write home about (Yes I'm sure Yelp.--Yelp keeps changing what the stars mean.) Place: 2 Palate: 4 Price: 2 [[HIGHLIGHT]]You could easily miss this place as it's in the back of a parking lot behind a completely different take out sushi bar![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And like the last place this place looks like it's in at least two stages of renovation with the front dining area a little more upscale and the backing room much more casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, the food is excellent from the sushi to the entrees. Everything is very fresh and seasoned beautifully. The entrees are the best value ranging from about $15-$30. I was price slapped though when I asked if they had plum wine, they did, then charged me 12 bucks for a shot glass of plum Sake!! Really?! The service was fast once the order was placed but like the last sushi place I was at I never actually knew who our server was since three different people "acted" like our server but no one person dedicated to us. Overall, the place is decent but somewhat overpriced for the overall experience. This would be never be a "go to". I also think it says a lot about owners, in a bad way, that will not claim their business on Yelp. If you really need a sushi fix, they'll fix you up but open up your wallet!

This place has many options to choose from. The team members are very friendly, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the seating is very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a Bento with Chicken Katsu and Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, and another Bento with Saba Shioyaki, Miso Butter Fish, and Spicy Salmon Roll. They are of great value, and super delicious.

Amazing sushi, tastes fresh and just melts in your mouth for such a good price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This feels like a hidden gem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Couldn't get a pic of most of it because it was gone so fast, but pork gyoza, edamame, and sushi sashimi combo was all stellar!

The interior is cozy, and our group felt big for the space, but we did get seated at a table that accommodated all of us. We were also very nicely accommodated in our quick service, as we had a reservation at a nearby attraction that was closing in. I asked the waiter (PJ, I think?) to select 6 nigiri sushi for me, and I also ordered a roll, as did everyone else. Everything was delicious and it's obvious why this place was crowned a Kauai Best last year. The sushi was phenomenal, the service was very welcoming, and the ambiance is ideal. If you like sushi, this is a must visit in Lihue. Easy 5 stars. Mahalo Blue Wave!!

Without a doubt, this was the best meal on my trip to Kaua'i…read more GETTING THERE: It was extremely easy to find. Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot in the back was a bit small, but the establishment itself isn't very big. AMBIANCE: As I said, it's a very small place. It can hold maybe about 20-25 people. It's a tight little place with very few tables and a small sushi bar. The dim lights and natural lighting gave it an intimate ambiance. I was seated at the bar and you can watch the chefs assembling my food while being trained at the same time. SERVICE: Our server was phenomenal. I believe his name was PJ. He was quick, attentive, and gave us a good laugh every time he stopped by to check on us. You can see the trainee going through on the job training, but the food still came out in a very timely manner. They were quick and we're happy to answer any questions we had. FOOD: I'm from the Seattle where the fish is extremely fresh and we get some amazing sushi. Also been to Japan a couple times. This was definitely up there for me. Everything was delicious; from the soft shell crab, to the blue fin toro, to the popcorn shrimp. Although I did indulge a little, I believe the chef's choice would be an amazing pick with high value for someone on a budget. Surprisingly, the blue fin toro wasn't my favorite. While it did taste amazing and melted in my mouth, I found the tai snapper to have more dynamic flavor thus marginally beating it out. Also I've never had steak sushi before, but I became a huge fan of the A5 wagyu nigiri and it left me wanting more. Hands down my top 3 picks. OVERALL: I highly recommend trying this place out. I loved the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Its definitely a must visit for me if I were to come back to Kaua'i.
