We came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This is a small place with a lot of table tables for two. There were six of us and when got there, They put some tables together quickly so we could all sit together. I can't remember our waitresses name, but she greeted us with a smile, quickly got us menus and water. We ordered appetizers for the table. Calamari, crab Rangoon, and shrimp tempura , everything came out tempting at the proper temperature and altogether so we could get started with the birthday celebration. We also ordered a bunch of rolls and some sashimi. Everything was fresh and appetizing and yummy. They don't serve alcohol here, but you can go to the ABC store and buy it and they will give you glasses to serve yourself and they will keep your extra refrigerated till you're ready for more. First impression, one of the sushi chefs was so nice. The restaurant was super busy and he assisted us right away letting us know someone will be right with us. After waiting about 30 min, after we called ahead and was told there was no wait, we got a table. Unfortunately once seated, we didn't get water or any utensils until after about 20 min of being seated and we had to ask for some. Once our order had been taken it took over an hour to just get our miso soup. I had asked about our order and the waitress said it would be right out. A party of 6 who was sat at the same time was finished and paid before we even got one main entree. After only getting 1/3 of our order in the matter of an 1.5 hours, we were going to order more but then the waitress took the menu out of my hands as I was reading it. After that we just asked for the check and cancelled the food we never got. The food itself was really good which was so disappointing because the service was so bad. The chefs all seemed very kind but once it got super busy it seemed like the attention was focused mostly on large parties. read more

I also got the Blackhawk and it was equally as delicious. The next taste test for me was the fried rice. Usually it's uncommon for fried rice to be good at a sushi place but IT'S WORTH EVERY BITE. We stopped by Zumo Sushi during our trip to Kauai and ordered three different sushi rolls--each one was really good. Super fresh, well-balanced flavors, and nicely presented. You can tell they know what they're doing with sushi here. The service was just okay--not bad, but not especially warm or attentive either. As for the atmosphere, it was fine.
