There is a disc golf course that runs basically on the same path as the golf course on the Welk resorts golf course. My parents are staying at the Welk resort and my two sons and I got to play disc golf with my dad. It is always a pleasure to play with my dad who is 80 years old . My dad and I Aren't great but good enough to enjoy playing. The course is nice. The different holes have varied lengths some are up hill Or down hill or across a gullie or some are dog legged. With a good amount of trees that can occasion be an obstacle. It was not that crowded. A family of kids ahead of us were playing soccer golf which also runs along with the golf course. The attendant had fantastic customer service. Can't say much about the golf course except that it was landscaped and maintained well. It was a great day. read more

The property is nice, especially if you get a villa on the golf course. Full size kitchens, living room, restrooms with jet tubs, his&hers sinks and great size rooms with views to the golf course. Nothing but peace and quiet. Now, the TV's didn't work, couches had tons of stains, shower was backed up, lines are very long when checking in and no one answers the front desk phones. I reported the backed up shower the morning after my first night and front desk stated they would send someone out but they never came. Called to check out of my room and the phone rang for over 5 mins, someone picked up the call and slammed the headset to end the call; called again and this time it rang for almost ten minutes and finally a max answered. Told Max I wanted to check out and explained to him of all the issues we had in our room, he pretty much didn't care. Max's responses were short and dismissive. Definitely will not come back again. Like I said at the beginning, property is nice and their newer villas and remodeled ones are better but I have stayed in other resorts that are better. The only great customer service I experienced at this location was at the time share session, everyone was very friendly. The Welk resort has a pizza hut, grill restaurant, dentist office, a spa, small market and a convenience store. A theatre for live performances, a very equipped gym, tons of pools and a rec center for kids. read more

It was great to use my ownership to have a pool day! The adult pool was quiet and nice, I definitely like the Mountain pool better because they have the activities and snackbar, it was being worked on while we were there so we couldnt go in, but still a great restful day at the Melody Pool. Super fun course and easily one of the most fun around. The staff is consistently friendly, and the course is usually in great condition for the price. There are very few downsides, but the main issue is that the back nine often gets backed up, which can really slow things down and make it tough to finish if you have a later tee time. read more

We've been playing the Fountains Course at Welk for years, and it has always stood out for its consistently strong conditions. The Welk brand meant quality, and the resort was maintained with real pride. But since the recent Marriott Vacations takeover, the shift in quality has been impossible to ignore--and unfortunately, it's not for the better. Simply put, Marriott is not maintaining the course to the standard that Welk reliably delivered. A few glaring issues make that clear: Tree maintenance is being ignored. Several large trees have gone untrimmed, and on holes 2, 5, 9, and 18, tee shots have become far more difficult--not because of course design, but because of flat-out neglect. Tee boxes are in poor shape. Many are chewed up, uneven, or patchy, and the tee markers feel like they've been placed at random with little regard to actual alignment. It gives the impression that whoever's setting them hasn't spent much time on a golf course. Green quality is no longer consistent. The early holes play fast and true, but by the back half of the course, the greens slow down noticeably. The mowing and maintenance simply aren't uniform. The sand traps are a disaster. While it was nice to see someone recognized they needed more sand, whoever approved the material clearly didn't inspect it. The new "sand" is filled with large rocks and countless pebbles. Not only does this make bunker shots frustrating--and potentially damaging to clubs--but it spreads debris onto several greens, forcing players to pick rocks off their putting lines. No one with even basic golf knowledge would have chosen this material. I genuinely miss the level of care that Welk invested in this resort. Now, with Marriott Vacations at the helm, I'm left wondering what the future holds--and not in a good way. read more

First time on this property and definitely can't express how impressed I am with the location & layout. Me and my girlfriend came here for her bday and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and beautiful place to enjoy ourselves. The room is incredibly spacious and our view from our balcony during sunset overlooking the mountain side was amazing. We were very lucky to be greeted and checked in by Luciano at the front desk! Can't say enough of his good energy and amazing recommendations. He really went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome and excited about our stay. This was my first time visiting The Welk Resort. It was a very nice experience over all. The room that we stayed it was a split wing with a full kitchen and dining area in the middle. There was also plenty of seating area plus outdoor seating. It is a little tricky to navigate around. I can easily see how some people may get turned around or lost trying to find their room. The pool areas were nice and not super crowded. The down sides were the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Starbucks that is on the premises does not accept Starbucks cards and lastly this resort is about 40+ miles from San Diego or Oceanside. So you definitely have to plan ahead when making your trips. read more

I'm still very far from Tiger Woods status, but I am proud to say my golf skills have improved tremendously! Maybe it was this particular golf course, maybe it was the weather, whatever it was, I was absolutely thrilled with my game here!! My first time playing here at Welk Resorts Golf Course, and it couldn't have been better! To get here, exit Gopher Canyon Road in Escondido and follow it to Champagne Blvd. Then turn onto Lawrence Welk Drive. Pass the Resort Check-In on the right, and keep going until you see The Pro Shop on the right side. There is a limited parking lot, but you can park on the street, too. Golf carts were clean and ready for us when we arrived. The grounds are very well kept up and the property itself is gorgeous! This is an 18-hole course and we enJOYed every minute. They do have a drink cart and snack cart that drive around, so if you didn't bring snacks, you're good to go. You may need to flag them down, but they'll get to you eventually. There was also a call box at hole #9 I believe. You could call your order in that way. My crew always comes prepared so we were golden. The staff here is very friendly. The girl on the drink cart was really nice when I asked her about their available cocktails. I didn't end up getting one but I might next time around. Fun place to play and the weather was perfect as usual! I shocked myself when I got a few bogeys in!! There is always room for improvement, but I was happy with what I did here. Also getting better at picking the right club to use...PUTTER when on the green!! LoL Crew was proud of me for that one, haha! We started at about 2pm and ended around 6pm so it did start to get a bit cold, and dark. Bring a jacket if you get cold easily! This is a great course all around, and I highly recommend it for everyone, pros and beginners alike. The red, white and blue markers at the start of the holes was a cute touch! We signed up for a tour that was being promoted at the Del Mar Fair, we drove 45 minutes for our appointment, with 2 kids. When we get there to sign in, they basically try to push us out saying that they had "overbooked". My opinion, SUPER unprofessional. We did not receive a courtesy call or any type of notification that we would not be seen. Of course we ask for our deposit back, but the fact that we showed up for an appointment THEY never told us was canceled, I feel we would have been entitled to the small gift that was promised even though THEY messed up and over booked. Anyways, a "manager" came out, would not give out the gift, had a snarky attitude, the receptionist sat there with RBF's. I personally would NOT recommend even coming to view this resort. Nothing but unprofessionalism. Not worth the gas, time, or headache. They only received one star because I had to give something. read more

Played the Fountain course 3 times within the last month. It's in very good condition. Because the green are challenging, and although the course is short, you will be challenged. It's just fun. My spouse and I were able to complete in 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. No comment re staff as they my best guess is they are there to check you in and take your money. Not sure what else they are to do. One day we did have a rather less than friendly cart/starter attendant. He kind of acted like we were at a tournament or rather snobbish private course. Once we left him and got on the course we had a really good time. Snack bar between 9 and 10 was an unexpected but welcomed treat. read more

This experience was awful. This is a fun, par 3-4 course, but those employed ruined that experience for my group and I. The Marshall came to my group and I (3 some and a solo), completely disrespectful, stating we were not playing the correct pace and messing around. Like said before, this is a par 3-4 course, there are very few holes where you can hit ball and not be in the group in fronts play space. This was all brought up to the clubhouse which was extremely unprofessional and basically ended with the conclusion of "it is what it is." We would recommend trying another course. read more

We called to see if we could check in early because we had a wedding that started at 5:00. The person that answered the phone told us that there are weddings all the time and that if we wanted to change in one of the fitness centers we could do that. When we checked in at 2:00 hoping that our room would be ready early and that we would not be in a long line to check in at 4:00. The person behind the counter was very rude. We asked a question since we had never stayed there before. She told us that we should wait for the answer because she had not gotten to that information yet. After we left the front desk we received a text telling us about an event on the property. The front desk never even told us about the different events on the property. We stay at a lot of hotels and have always gotten a friendly answer even if we could not check in early. The staff really needs to be trained on how to treat guests. Housekeeping never came to our room. The TV did not work so we called the front desk. We finally got the TV to work. We called back to tell them the TV as working. The next morning they sent the some to fix the TV. Something happened when he as in the room to cause our key not to work. Another trip was made to the front desk. We spoke to the Manager. We had a great rime and experience. 1st time playing fling golf and riding in the golf cart. I think that was the best part was riding around the golf course Staff was nice. Didn't explain the how to's on using the cart. We figured it out later but would have been nice to,know before we thought we got stalled or the battery died. The reverse and forward are grownd level by the back of your shins. We found it later. Also they put a golf map on the steering wheel which covers the directions on how to use the cart. That would have been nice to know. They gave us a map so we never removed the wheel map till the wind blew my pencil off. Trying to retrieve the other pencil I stumbled over the cart directions under the map on the wheel.. smh.. Other than that. It was fun. read more

The resort quality was standard for a non-golfer, we didn't use to many of the on-site amenities. The check-in process was painful, well over an hour and a half to check in to a room. There was multiple people working the counter, but they would slowly disappear to the back, leaving everyone frustrated. Once we did make it to the counter, we asked if there was an issue and they acknowledged they didn't have enough rooms. During a time share presentation which was advertised as 90 minutes, started to go longer without even seeing a demo room or their official sales pitch. The Fountains is a great executive course. A few challenging holes, some picturesque ones, and some challenging elevation. A great place to practice, have fun, and enjoy a short round. Also, the pitch and putt is a nice way to work on your shirt game. Foot golf and frisbee golf can also be played. read more

My wife and I came down here for a wedding, the wedding venue was out of the resort and we decided to stay for a few days in the resort post wedding. Unfortunately , our stay was not up to par. The following is what we experienced as well as what the resort can do better in the future. 1. Upon arrival , we checked in, head to our room, open the door and we are immediately struck with a very foul odor right as we walked in. My wife and I traced the smell and it was coming from the bathroom, the smell was one of a mens locker room and vomit.. we tried to complain and switch rooms but they said unfortunately they did not have any rooms. As a business, You would think that a smell that bad coming from the bathroom would require immediate attention.. but it did not, my wife , while doing her make up everyday, had to deal with the terrible smell. Ultimately We were refunded the resort " fee" of $64 . 2. There was a sprinkler line leak right outside the patio leading to the golf course. It seemed like it had been there for a while .. Ultimately , the place was nice , pool Food was mediocre. Not great just ehhh. read more

We love golf and this place is good for people with handicapped 80+. There are 2 golf courses. Oak is easier. Fountain course slightly more challenging. Golf cart is included for fountain course. Excellent condition. Tip: don't play later afternoon at fountain, you won't be able to see your ball since it directly facing the sun. read more
