Yesterday my daughter and I booked the Foot Rescue treatments and it was not good. The therapist had all the personality of Lurch and clearly had no training in this kind of work, or desire to be doing it. We paid double than the regular pedicure and we were supposed to receive an "extra long, luxurious" foot and lower leg massage with this treatment and we received nothing. Also, the heated neck pillow with essential oils did not happen. The treatment basically consisted of the girl slapping on a series of gels, and then disappearing into the back room, or working on the other person in between rinses. Very overpriced and disappointing experience, I would not recommend this place to anybody. read more

The setting is nice and updated. Cozy chairs to enjoy during pedicures. However the price was not quoted as the service showed for the 90 minute pedi. The description of the $92 pedicure was that of relaxation and pampering. However, the music was incredibly loud and the conversations between the employees was totally unprofessional! While trying to relax, we had to hear them talking about dating, partying, after work plans, etc. It was AWFUL! Decided to treat myself to their Foot care pedicure package for $95. While the treatment was nice it's really nothing more then the luxe paraffin treatment advertised. I did not get a neck pillow nor the complementary pedi socks. I did spend 2.5 hours there however when the booking stated an hour and 10 minutes. It felt rushed and my nails ended up having huge bubbles the next day underneath the polish, every single nail. I loved going to Well Polished Nails for my wedding nails! Best no chip manicure I've ever gotten- French lasted three full weeks. They put rose pedals in the pedicure water which was a really fun extra touch. They also stayed open later in the evening for my group to come in and get pampered, and they let us BYOB/food. I had a bridal party at Well Polished on the day before my wedding and we had a great time. For the party we brought in food and drinks and the staff at Well Polished arranged the food and drink and served us throughout the event and were very nice. The salon is clean and pretty and we played music and chatted and all had a great time getting our nails done. As far as I saw everyone received great treatment and ended up with lovely manis and pedis. The service itself was a bit slow - the salon did not have enough staff on hand to do all 8 of us in two hours and we ended up there for approximately 4 hours. The good news as we had planned a buffer and weren't rushing out of there. However, given that the prices at Well Polished are fairly high - and we paid a charge to have the party in addition to the service costs - it would have been nice to not have people waiting for half the day. If you are considering a party at Well Polished, you will definitely have a great time and get pampered but consider asking how many people will be available to serve your guests. read more

My review of Well Polished will be slightly different- I have been twice, both for private parties. I love the atmosphere of the nail salon- it is beautiful inside and quiet (as they do not do acrylic nails). I love that their pedicure basins are filled with pitchers of water and flower petals. The technicians were all great on both of my visits, and a catered meal was included for the private party (from Moveable Feast in Geneva- delicious). I thought the owner was very friendly, and all of the employees were great. I can see how some people might think it is pricey- it is compared to other nail salons in the area, but I found the service to be so much better I did not mind the price. This was the most enjoyable salon experience I've ever had. When you walk in you are kindly greeted and immediately feel relaxed. The chairs and decor are gorgeous and modern. Each pedicure station is equipped with its own iPad too!! We went as a group of six for a pre-wedding salon day. We were so impressed with how well we were accommodated. It felt as if we were in our own living room because we were so comfortable. The women working were polite and professional. We didn't feel rushed at all either even though they stayed late for us. I didn't love this place the first time I went just weeks after it opened. The mani and pedi both chipped very quickly, however I LOVED the ambiance inside and decided to go back. Plus, I'll give most any place a second try figuring we all have bad days. And, I'm quite glad I did, as I've been quite pleased ever since. The manis and pedis have lasted, and the place keeps getting cuter. Loved the tables outside over the summer to sit and dry my nails. I have to agree with what Theoni said about the owner - she treats everyone like they are her best customer. And, she's not even who does my nails! Well polished, indeed! For part of my bachelorette party extravaganza, one of my Maid of Honors thought it would be fun for me and my closest girls to kick back and get pampered. (Never have I been so glad that we did this because as you can imagine, the night was anything but relaxing after that!). And Well Polished was just the place to do so. It's cute. It's chic. It's relaxing. And it's everything I like in nail spa. I walked in and immediately smelled lavender and eucalyptus. Ahhhhhhh.... I checked in for my pedicure and was directed to a huge comfy chair where I sat down and placed my feet in a bowl of warm water and flower petals. Yes, flower petals. Everything after that came up smelling like roses! Service was nothing short of perfect. The owner and employees were extremely friendly and were so happy we picked their spa for our bachelorette party kickoff. After leaving, I smudged my nail polish while eating lunch. I called them to see if they would fix my blunder and the owner had me immediately come back. She even gave me the bottle of nail polish in case it happened again (oops!). First of all, we are not relatives or staff, we are just people looking for a nice experience, which we found here. My daughter and I called less than 24 hours before we were hoping for an appointment on Labor Day Weekend (and were expecting to be told there was nothing available) Imagine how thrilled we were to be told they would fit us in. We arrived for our 4:30 appointment (a half hour AFTER the time they would normally close on a Sunday - clearly she had made a special accommodation for us and we had only been there one time previous). The atmosphere was lovely and the service was spectacular. In this day and age it is sadly so rare to find a business that will go out of its way to take the time to make your experience so wonderful. Megan and Norma were fun and so enjoyable to talk with. Our Mother Daughter mani/pedi could not have been better and our nails look fabulous. We will definitely be telling our friends about Well Polished. read more

Well Polished SUCKS. The nail polish that me, and a lot of other bridal party members received, chipped not even 24 hours after it was applied. I have never EVER known a salon to not hold your fingers and use oils and cuticle creams while clipping your cuticles and the skin around it. I also have never seen someone paint my hands while my hands were face down on the table. Most salons hold your hand and do each finger separately. My polish was so poor I had to redo it the next day. AND $29 for just a polish CHANGE on my toes!? With no pedicure!? Just a polish change.....that's insane. I live in the city of Chicago and the high end salons here aren't even that pricey. This place isn't worth the shitty "experience" when my nails don't even last a day. I have been here twice for pedicures, only. The atmosphere is relaxing. You get your own iPad. The bowls are washed after every use (hygiene is very important to me). Their hostess is always perky and friendly. The reality, the pedicure is meh. The massage is pathetic. The price is steep. Lovely addition to Geneva. Very different than most of the run of the mill poor to mediocre shabbily decorated nail salons that litter Randal Road and beyond. The owner is very nice and ambience is very New York spa type- lovely. There is a vast selection of polish and they have added a hair area in the back for a blow dry and/or a hair style. All that being said, I feel that the nail techs here are very green. Very young and do not exhibit much confidence in their work. I have been here a few times and although the manicures are nice enough, there is nothing special about them. They chip the same as anywhere else and they do not look any nicer. What you are paying for here is the better environment....and the environment is nice...but if it is a great and thorough beautiful manicure you are looking for...you can find those cheaper and elsewhere. read more

I simply cannot believe all the negative reviews here! Certainly it must be that mostly the few people with bad experiences take the time to write a review. I have been going to Well Polished since shortly after they opened with 2 of my friends for pedis every 4-5 weeks. We used to go to another well-known chain salon until we started getting some questionable service, even though being regular, good customers. They were also more expensive. I really cannot speak for the training or experience of the technicians, but I know that my friends and I are always very satisfied with our pedis. We do get the lux version, not the basic, and the foot/leg massage is WONDERFUL! I often tell my tech I wish she could be at my house everyday after work to give me this treatment! Last year my daughter-in-laws' bachelorette party started off there and they had a great time. Meghan and all the girls were very accommodating. No issues. My daughter now goes there regularly for the no-chip manicure and has no problems with chipping or how long it lasts over-all. I'm not sure why all these other people are having issues. I am also surprised about the negative comments regarding booking/cancelling appointments. My friends and I have often booked and then had to change appt. days/times and it has NEVER been a problem. We are always treated so nicely and feel very special and pampered every time we go. Also not sure on the pricing complaints....as I said, we were paying a lot more at another place and it was not nearly as nice. Way more crowded, rushed, less personal...I guess if you are not willing to spend the price for being treated well, you don't belong at a place like Well Polished. I have also been to many spas, not only in this area, but in places we have vacationed, such as Hawaii, Arizona, Florida, and paid a lot more for pedis and not gotten any better service or overall better job done. So...I hope a lot more people out there who know what a great place this is will speak up! If only zero stars were an option on Yelp. During Swedish Days, my wife purchased a bottle of "WP" nail polish at their stand. She was surprised by how inexpensive it was, and now she knows why. The "WP" polish turned out to be Wet 'n' Wild (a 99 cent drug store brand) with WP stickers put on the bottles and re-sold to look like something better. That CANNOT be legal!!! I have always received extremely professional service and attention. The manicurists pay close attention to detail and my nails always look great. They never try to upsell services like I've experienced at other places, which I really appreciate. It is always extremely clean and that's very important to me in a nail salon. I have never felt like I'm putting them out for wanting a design or a mask during my pedicure. They make the time and take the time to give what I'm asking for. I went here with my mother in law and sister in law for some after Christmas pampering and was pleasantly surprised. It was certainly one of the nicest nail salons I've been to. The help was extremely nice and offered us hot chocolate, tea, and coffee upon entering. The quality of their work was excellent. I loved the cozy chairs we sat in and the rose petals in the water bowl. Each station was equipped with an iPad for our use yet we were able to see and chat with each other throughout. I've been a semi-regular customer of this salon for over two years. I come in 6-8 times a year for pedicures and no-chip manicures. I always choose the OPI, CND or Gelish brands and never had a problem with chipping. I find that the level of service from the technicians who have worked on me has absolutely been worth the cost every time. I love being able to book online. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that, like any business you frequent regularly, there have been a couple of glitches here and there with the online booking system. At the same time, there have been times when they have gone out of their way to accommodate me. I do agree that the WP brand polish is a bit of a gimmick and that's why I don't buy it or select it for my services. However, the other brands they sell are high quality. When my focus is on getting in and out quickly, I have a walk-in place I can go to. But at WP I can really relax. I enjoy the music they play, it is quiet, there isn't a TV on the wall tuned to something annoying, and there isn't pressure to talk unless you feel like it. I don't even care about the iPads but other people seem to really enjoy them. The atmosphere is exactly what I had always wished nail salons were like, and I am happy to continue finding it here in my own suburb. (And yes, I have ventured east of The Loop a few times in my life, have even been allowed in some very nice salons and spas, in case anyone wondered. :) ) read more

What a hidden gem in Geneva!!! I looked all over the Internet trying to find a good place to get a good pedicure! I found Well Polished on Yelp saw the 5 star rating and called to see if I could get in today! I was able to and so happy that I called! Being pregnant I can't reach my toes anymore and she did a wonderful job! The atmosphere is nice and quiet! There are only about 4-5 pedicure chairs (they don't massage and they aren't bulky- LOVED THAT), there are no jet tubs- just big bowls filled with warm water and fresh flowers! There is nothing good I can say about this place, except the decor is quite plush, and makes you believe you are entering into a posh spa, where you will be pampered, and will come out looking fabulous.... You get drawn in by the flavored water,, flower petals in your pedicure water, and individual iPads ( where you will find editions of recent magazines)... However, you must not be deceived by these superfluous extras! I have given the owner 3 opportunities to redeam herself! The first time, I was there, was with a friend shortly after they opened. We were excited to try someplace new. We loved the flower petals in our pedicure bowls..but quickly realized that the nail techs had zero training or experience... We basically had our feet washed and nail polish applied. There was none of the traditional trimming, buffing, shaping that we were used to.... We were also upset when we were told the owner did not have a drying machine... It was winter! We had socks and boots on...how were we going to leave? The owner told us just to sit there for an hour until our toes were dry...we had kids to pick up at school, and had not built that time into our schedules! This was a huge inconvenience! We both left there saying we would not be back. We had paid $45 each, plus a 20% tip..and felt we needed to go elsewhere to get a PROPER pedicure! Then my daughter was given a $50 gift card for there from a family friend for Christmas. I was very hesitant to go back, but thought we would give the owner the benefit of the doubt...I decided to take my daughter there for a "No Chip" manicure. She was going to her first formal high school dance the following day, so we thought we would use her gift card. I had requested a nail tech,Brandy, that was recommended to me by a friend. When I made the appointment, the owner confirmed My daughterwould be with Brandy. However, when we got there, Meghan, the owner, just started to work on my daughter. I did not know who Brandy was, so I assumed she would be out shortly... But instead an extremely young looking girl came And sat next to Meghan. Meghan continued buffing, trimming and shaping while the young girl watched on. Clearly, the girl was not allowed to speak .... Brandy was never mentioned .... There was no explanation who or where she was. Meghan very very slowly applied the No Chip polish ( I think we were there over 2 hrs!) I paid Meghan's extremely high rate, gave her a 20% tip ( which, as the owner, she should not have accepted!) and we left. The next day my daughter spent entirely getting ready for the dance. By Sunday morning (less than48 hrs later), the extremely tedious and waaaay overpriced No Chip Manicure had begun to chip! I was horrified! I had never experienced a No Chip not lasting at least 3 weeks! And this one was at least $25 higher than any other place in the area. I sincerely assumed, I would simply call the owner and tell her what happened, and that she would offer to redo them... That was really stupid of me...I called Meghan the following day...explained the situation...and she dismissed me! She said she offeredno time guarantee on her No Chips..and actually had the nerve to blame my 15 year old daughter, saying," we'll...she's a kid....I have no idea where she's been and what she's done with her nails!" I was dumbfounded and toungtied! My daughter had done nothing but take a shower and attend a formal dance! Meghan offered nothing to recover our ill feelings... She just said , " I am sorry you've had this trouble...but I do not give a guarantee." I was flabbergasted! Then 3 months had passed, and it was my daughters birthday. To celebrAte,She wanted to take her two best friends to a Spa for a pedi.. We decided to take one more gamble on Well Polished simply because I wanted to treat the girls to a nice pampering Spa experience... Well Polished seemed likely to provide that ambiance. I really went out on a limb, and decided to give Meghan's place one more shot. The girls were coming from 3 different towns, and 3 different schools-2 of them from an entire county away... It took a lot of coordinating to find a date aNd time that would work for all three of them. They were very excited to spend the time together getting their toes done. However, by early afternoon the next day,the other two girls were texting me photos of their chipped toe nails!! Then I looked at my daughters toes- ALSO chipped! In fact all 30 toes were chipping! I was furious! Including tip, I had paid Meghan $160 for 3 pedis that did not even last 24 hours! Really furious, I went to see Meghan -explained about the 30 chipped toes and she said she would not refund my money!her solution: she would give the same girls a free upgrade on their next pedis. No Way!! This time I felt like she stold my money. She took $160!and did not provide a quality service! I suppose as the bride related to both Natalie K and Mary R's reviews, I should weigh in. I made our salon appointment months ago. Megan was extremely friendly when making the appointments. When she mentioned the party fee, I said we didn't need to be a "party" and she was completely okay with not charging a fee. Only to have that thrown into my face and my moms face on Saturday, saying she lost money by having us there. Whether or not that is true, an owner should NEVER make a comment like that to a customer. Business 101, failed. Second, she made comments to Natalie that we should have never been allowed to bring drinks in for our bridal party. Strange, seeing as how I spoke to Megan Thursday night and Friday morning and she offered for the MOH to bring our cocktails early to keep in the fridge. So which is it, Megan? Nothing to add to the experience that hasn't been said... All we asked on Saturday was for an employee to bring the polish colors we used on Friday so we could touch them up for my wedding. It took Megan refusing to take ownership to Natalie and my mom (who paid for these horrible manicures) to get me on the phone. How dare you tell my mom that you lost money on us. How dare you. And then to say that I have complained about prices since I booked my appointment. If I didn't want to pay your prices, I wouldn't have come to your salon! All I wanted was an itemized list of services you performed. It's called a receipt. Once I was on the phone it was nothing but, "what can I do to help you, you're the bride". Well appreciated it shouldn't have taken me, as a bride on my wedding day, getting on the phone to get you to send over the polish for my girls. Stand behind your work and take ownership when things go wrong. You placed blame on every single person but yourself, which is wrong. And never apologized for all of our nails chipping. Again, business 101. Even if you don't agree, the customer is ALWAYS right and as a business owner, it's your job to do whatever you have to do to make your customer happy. My girlfriend called and booked no chip manicures and pedis for the four of us. The experience to begin with was great until we went to pay and told that we were being charged $12.00 each for our no chip to be removed. I have never heard of such a fee and have lived Chicago for 12 years. When we questioned why they didn't tell us that at the time of booking or before they started our manicures the receptionists say it clearly stated that in our email confirmation we got when we booked the appointment. The Owner was present and clearly heard us and never came over to apologize or to discuss the situation with us. An hour after we left we received an email confirmation showing our appointment which was after the fact but no where did it state that there was a fee to take off no chip. Clearly, the receptionist was trying to cover her tracks because she knew we didn't receive confirmation prior because it was a phone booking and they didn't get our information including email until that day.
