Not happy. I had a telehealth visit with my PA Edgar Garcia on Friday regarding blood work. He was…read moresending my prescription into my regular pharmacy however I told him they were closed over the weekend. He informed me I needed the medicine before then and what other pharmacy I would like. I told him Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. i hadn't heard anything else from Mr. Garcia or the pharmacy. On Saturday I called the pharmacy to see if the prescription was ready. The pharmacist proceeded to tell me that he tried calling the doctors office because the prescroption is not covered by my insurance. The out of pocket cost was going to be over 500 dollars. He said if we could call the office as well to help out. Well it's a Saturday and they aren't open so I had to call the answering service. In this case they only send the messages through to the on call doctors if it's a life or death situation or what they consider a medical emergency. Well my case is a medical emergency since my potassium is at a 6 and it needed to be lowered. The answering service sent my message through to the on call doctor, which was supposed to be that I needed a cheaper medication that the insurance would cover. Later on I received a message from the on call doctor which i am assuming was PA Adam Ortega wanting me to review the medication. The medication was the same one that had been sent and it was sent to the pharmacy that was closed for the weekend. In other words he didn't even open or read my chart. I then called back to the answering service and left them another message that I needed a cheaper medicine than what is listed and it was to be sent to the Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. The answering service guy said he would send it through and said if the doctor feels this is an emergency he will contact you back. Well I never received a call back or a message back from PA Adam Ortega. It's now Sunday morning and I am without the medication I was needing to lower my potassium since Friday and before Monday. I am going to have to go to Walmart and purchase this medication that is over 500 dollars out of pocket because someone isn't doing their job by reading the chart correctly or by picking up the phone and calling the patient directly. I've always been happy with VMAC and PA Edgar Garcia however, not this time with PA Adam Ortega.

I took my older sister who is mentally challenged to Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen…read moreseveral years ago because she had fallen on her right hand/wrist. Xrays revealed that it was broken, and the emergency room nurse told me to take her to Dr. Panday. His office staff waited about a week to get back to me for an appointment. I took her in and he did an MRI as well at Xrays which revealed that the wrist was broken. He told me to wait several weeks to wait to decide to do surgery. I ended up taking her to see him about three times, several weeks apart, when he finally showed me on his laptop where the break was. He said very nervously that he would have to evaluate it to see if she needed surgery. It seems as though every time I took my sister to see him, that he kept avoiding the possibility of surgery, So I decided to take her to a hand specialist who told me that he could not correct Dr. Panday's medical mistakes because the bones and all the tiny ligaments had settled in over a period of about a month. I went to another surgeon who told me the exact same thing. The surgeon told me that Dr. Panday should have referred my sister to someone who could handle the case immediately the the first time he had seen her. It turns out that the second surgeon I saw, told me that he would never accept any of Dr. Panday's patients because of the many patients whose medical mistakes could not be reversed. That particular surgeon had handled many broken wrists like the one my sister had, and it could have been done had Dr. Panday referred us to this second surgeon immediately. But it was too late to do anything about it. Another hand/wrist surgeon/specialist gave me the name of a physician in San Antonio that had written several volumes on surgical procedures for broken wrists that are used in medical school across the country. I decided to call and send him Xrays and the MRIs. We spoke for about two hours as he analyzed them. This particular surgeon was horrified to see that my sister has been abandoned by Dr. Panday simply because he had waited for about four weeks and simply refused to refer us to a highly qualified hand surgeon in McAllen that he knew. After talking to several physicians and others in the medical community, I came to realize that Rio Grande Regional Hospital should have never referred us to Dr. Panday because he is not, and has never been a hand surgeon. As a result of his derelict behavior, my sister's hand is grotesquely deformed with her wrist bent completely downwards and her fingers curled in. She cannot mover her fingers. I have also come to realize that Dr. Panday should have simply referred us to a hand surgeon since he knew that he could not handle my sister's case. I am also convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that he is a quack, and a fraud just trying to make money off the Medicare system since he got paid very well to do absolutely nothing for my sister.

May God give them comfort and strength in the days ahead

I was initially evaluated by a recent medical school graduate with only four months of experience, who discharged me with a vague diagnosis of "headaches" and a prescription for nausea--without adhering to proper protocols or completing the diagnostic orders I arrived with. The attending physician never entered my room or spoke with me prior to discharge, relying solely on Dr. Zapien's inaccurate assertion that I had presented for headaches, which was far from the truth. It was only after a family member--an experienced Emergency Room Physician and faculty member at a leading medical school--advocated on my behalf that my discharge was canceled and I was admitted to 4 East. Unfortunately, conditions deteriorated further upon admission. My stay on 4 East was characterized by patient mistreatment and a disturbing disregard for ethical standards. My assigned nurse, Branden, exhibited gross unprofessionalism and moral insensitivity, engaging in unsolicited, inappropriate, and psychologically intrusive commentary that had no place in a medical setting. His conduct demonstrated a complete lack of respect for patient dignity, emotional well-being, and trauma-informed care principles. Another unknown doctor came in and told me in a terse tone that people live with my condition. I was moved without my doctor knowing to a regular room, I spent a few hours there and was flown out to a hospital in Houston for open-heart surgery! Ridiculous!!! I'm blessed that my two doctors held their own: Dr. Menon and Dr. Georgiadis.
