I bought a groupon for a massage for this place in September of 2021 and hands down it was the weirdest experience ever. Reading the reviews for this place is so spot on and was actually making me laugh so hard. I feel bad leaving bad reviews but the fact it's been 3 years and I still remember this day is telling. Of course as it was so long ago I don't remember all details, but I do remember going in there was SO much paperwork. I have bought other massages on groupon. I have never had paperwork to that extent. It felt a little invasive and also just kind of annoying. After the paperwork they take me back into this office to wait for the doctor for the evaluation. I will never forget after I am sitting in the room in silence for a few minutes he slams open the door with this big entrance yelling starting with a sales pitch it was so...weird. I felt like I was on a "what would you do" type show. He was very loud and didn't seem socially aware- the fact I was going in for a relaxing massage and this was my entrance was a little bit counterproductive. I remember the massage being good other than the CD player skipping the meditation music on repeat at times throughout the hour. Long story short: this place is crazy. Kayla did an amazing with the message. Best massage I have ever had!! The room is in the basement and it wasn't the most tranquil because you can hear people walking above. However, her work made up for it. I felt SO much better afterward. Unfortunately, my experience with the chiropractor before the massage was not great. As others have mentioned he spoke very quickly and told me a bunch of stuff about my back but as soon as he realized he was out of network for my insurance he was not interested in speaking further. The next day they followed up to confirm the cost of my insurance for services and I asked to see the notes he wrote because he said I had some back condition. I spoke with him on the phone and he had a very sales-like demeanor. He told me I was a "category 2" and there was a "crack in the foundation of my spine." Once I said I wanted to take time to look up what he said about my back and would call back for an appointment he asked me if I was "giving him the run around" and then HUNG UP ON ME. So rude. So unprofessional. I will never go back based on this fact alone. I had never been to a chiropractor before and now I see doctors like Dr. Goldberg are why chiropractors have a bad reputation. After reading other reviews on Yelp I wish I did this before going and really hope my insurance is not billed for this evaluation. Chiropractor acted like a used car salesman. The massage therapist did a great job and deserved many stars but cannot recommend due to the chiropractor. I also did not find the room in the basement relaxing. Plus the furniture in waiting areas are dirty and need to be replaced or at least cleaned. read more

I hate giving low star reviews. Wellness Associates had the potential to be worthwhile, but I found myself really disappointed with this experience. This upstairs space is full of light and clean. There was some background music and a cute little water-wall-fountain-combination-thingy. I invested in the Groupon deal. It was supposed to be 2 one hour massages and a pain consultation for $49. The pain consultation with Dr. Golberg was interesting and informative. However, the downside to Groupon deals is that people are usually walking into places on a budget. There was obviously pressure to continue with chiropractic appointments, which was fine and expected. But I would get a second opinion before doing anything. Dr. Golberg is clearly passionate about his work though, even a bit over exuberant. He is ready to start work immediately, and I wanted to do more research. At this point, I would totally go back to him to start a treatment plan, but the rest of the experience was a let down. Scheduling an appointment here was torture. I think too many people invested in this deal. I had to schedule over a month out, and I work odd hours. I can't imagine trying to get an evening appointment. I never scheduled a second appointment. Unfortunately, the first massage was really terrible. The girl that gave me my massage had a great technique, but there were some SERIOUS outside problems: 1) The massage area is in the basement. It was freezing and miserable. There was only a tiny space heater. 2) The sheets were so thin, and they didn't smell clean at all. They used a minty smelling gel, and since it was gel and the room was freezing, it made me even colder. 3) The girl giving me my massage was wearing high heels, and this was really not relaxing. On the upside, I really liked the technique she used to loosen my neck. However, within ten minutes I was so chilled that the massage was actually painful throughout the rest of my body. The girl giving me my massage clearly knew what she was doing, but the room killed it. It was really terrible. It would have been the best massage ever had the room been a normal temperature. Also, the actual massage was right around 37 minutes. I timed it. I was given well over ten minutes to change when the massage was done, and ten minutes before it started. I would never pay full price for that, which was $85 I believe. As I started to see what other people were saying about their experiences, I discovered they actually stopped honoring the Groupon deal long before the expiration date. There's a reason this place is reviewed so low. I got a groupon for a massage. The massage and masseuse were amazing. I honestly want to just go to her or have her do a house call. I apparently needed an evaluation before though. Ok... Dr. Goldberg, the chiropractor there, has to be more pushy than a used car salesman. He asked for my insurance card and took xrays before I could get my massage. He's loud and doesn't let you get a word in edgewise. He doesn't wear a face mask and spits when he talks. That's all well and good except there's kind of a global pandemic which he, supposedly a doctor, denies the severity of openly, loudly, and proudly. He said my outward spine curve was because of powerlifting (I'm a world class powerlifter) and that I should not arch my back. The alternative is being to slump it which causes injury. After I was mansplained how to powerlifter from a 60-something who's license I'm seriously questioning "doctor" whom never lifted, he showed me my xrays. At least he said they were mine, but my IUD, which has showed up on every X-ray I've had was for some reason not on these. I got my massage, did a session with him, which was him just taking a percussion massager up my spine, and my insurance company went "hahahahaha we ain't paying for this!" Let's not forget I could not enjoy my massage entirely because I could hear him yelling, whether angrily or because he's really just that loud at other patients and staff. read more

Dr. Goldberg has already made me feel better after only two visits. Some of the other reviewers seem upset by his "loud" demeanor, but I see it as being passionate about his work. He is knowledgeable and has obviously been practicing for many years. He is honest and doesn't sugarcoat things, which I appreciate. I went to Dr. Goldberg because I have a chronic condition that means I need regular visits to a chiropractor, and specifically gentile adjustments. I just moved to Pittsburgh and needed to find a new chiropractor in the area, and Dr. Goldberg came up as an early result online. I called the office and made an appointment for that same day (they were not at all busy). The medical assistants I talked to were friendly, helpful, and kind, and they both wore masks to keep the patients safe from COVID-19. While I was filling out my intake paperwork, Dr. Goldberg came out to the front of the office without a mask or gloves, and began ranting loudly at one of his assistants. He loudly insisted that wearing masks was unnecessary for COVID-19 prevention, and more specifically, how Louis Pasteur was wrong about everything, especially the germ theory of disease. His rant also included his opinions that vaccines are a hoax, medications (pills specifically) are all worthless, no one should ever see any medical doctors, and being around sick people doesn't make you sick. He insisted that socially distancing and masks were completely unnecessary, and that the best way not to get sick was to have a good immune system and "be healthy". He also pointed out things like "I haven't taken an asprin in 40 years," and "In medicine, the exception is the rule; If I don't need it, then no one does," proving that he doesnt understand the people he is supposed to be helping. His medical assistant tried to gently remind him that not everyone is as healthy as he is, but he interrupted her, practically screaming, "Well then they should get healthy!" As a person with a genetic, chronic, debilitating, immunocompromising illness that I will never be able to cure, that statement is insanely offensive, especially coming from a medical professional. His opinions were terrible, and what was worse was the way he was treating his medical assistant. She was clearly uncomfortable and trying to calm him down, but he got continually more aggitated and offensive. I am honestly glad this happened the way it did; I stopped my paperwork part-way through and left the office. The assistant at the desk gave me an understanding and appologetic look as I returned her clipboard; I don't think I am the first person he has driven away like this. These women deserve better. I am glad I did not get within 10 feet of a man who thinks his privelaged immune system means he isn't hurting anyone else. I'm not sure how he could have possibly gotten any kind of medical degree - even a chiropractic cerificate. If you believe in ANY modern, western, medical science, do NOT go see this chiropractor. read more

Echoing many of the reviews on here... bought a living social massage and evaluation for my daughter whom is a college student. She had trouble scheduling because she is out of town. She was told in December that as long as she used the paid coupon before the expiration date of 3/10 she would be in good shape. When she had to reschedule, she was talked down to and insulted by the front desk staff, telling her that there were deadlines to meet and that if she didn't call within 24 hours to cancel, she was shit out of luck. When MOM has to get involved, that's when I got my money back from Living Social. This business is deplorable... and, just for a point of reference, I don't write reviews. Do not patronize this place. It is a scam and I wish I had done my research before purchase. I will not be sending any of my friends or family here. Smaller office environment, which I like. Easy to book office appts. Friendly front desk staff who also help w/therapy, office billing, and massages. Dr. Goldberg has a high energy level and is enthusiastic for wanting folks to get and to remain in good health w/non pharmaceutical means. Isn't this something we all want? I ask a lot of questions and Dr. G answers all of my questions reasonably and takes time to explain "why" &"what" & to engage in the topic. His xray review was the most thorough I have experienced and I walked out w/hard copy xray summary and evaluation write up of which I appreciated having a direct record of my current neck/back status. Best stim pad therapy I have had through the years b/c pads are larger and used w/cold or heat therapy and used laying down vs sitting in a chair where they just fall off and are not as impactful. Kayla has a wonderful massage technique which is very therapeutic. If you want a spa experience w/robes, slippers and cucumber water, then book at Nemacolin. But if you want an excellent therapeutic massage that can help your neck, body, and muscles recover from stress/strain of everyday living, then you can't beat booking an appointment w/Kayla. read more

I have to agree with previous reviewers concerning Wellness Associates. I bought a Groupon for the center which included two massages and an evaluation. Here is how the deal appeared in text, "Choose Between Two Options $29 for a 60-minute massage and a chiropractic evaluation (a $140 value) $49 for two 60-minute massages and a chiropractic evaluation (a $220 value)." I made an appointment and while sitting in the waiting room became slightly nervous about the chiropractic evaluation. I have only a very slight need for adjustments and could hear Dr. Goldberg's enthusiasm with other patients ("Drink Aloe Vera!" "MD stands for more diseases!"). I considered skipping the evaluation and asked the receptionist if I could not have the evaluation and just get the massage. I was told the evaluation was part of the Groupon and that I could just tell Dr. Goldberg that my style is a little more reserved. Unfortunately, as soon as I left the facility, my insurance was immediately billed $110 for the evaluation that I definitely thought was covered by the Groupon. The business told my insurance that they explained the billing services to me, which they definitely did not as I was taken by total surprise to get the final fee of $290 which included the x-rays that I also did not have an option to get. The massages were amazing, but they are short and in the basement. Even at $85 I might consider getting another one some day, but now I just feel so scammed that I can't even consider ever going back. If you go here for a half-price massage via Groupon, be aware that they will charge you $57 for an x-ray, which is barely explained to you. Oh, and they don't send you the result of the x-ray, so this is strictly a marketing tool for them to pressure you into chiropractic care. With x-rays being all electronic these days, the incremental cost to them for taking one has to be pretty minimal. I would call this a deceptive business practice at best, and for this reason I would strongly urge you to stay away from this place. I purchased a Groupon deal for a 60 minute massage and evaluation with Wellness Associates. I wasn't really in need of a new chiropractor, but it was good deal for a massage. I checked their hours on their website, before purchasing the deal. However, when I called to schedule my appointment, I was informed that their massage therapist is only there certain days. I was able to schedule an appointment for a day that I had off of work. I arrived early to the appointment. The office had a relaxing atmosphere with mediation like music playing. I was given a large packet of forms to complete. Many of the forms had been copied so many times and were so old, I could barely read them. After completing the forms, I was taken to a large exam room and asked to sit on a large leather couch. The couch was low to the ground and had no back support. I met with Dr. Goldberg. He had me do one physical test that involved me standing on one leg with my arms extended and him pushing my arm down. He the basically went on a tangent about how I'm a level four "hurricane", but that he could get me to a level one within a few visits. He went on about how I'd "been to the rest, now you've come to best." He was like a loud and over bearing infomercial talking about how bad medications are ("MD stand for More Drugs!") and that he hasn't taken a pill in decades. I attempted to express that I just wanted to enjoy a relaxing massage. However, he continued with his analogies and in the process basically insulted my intelligence and every other medical profession that I had ever seen. There was nothing relaxing about the experience and I could not bear the thought of him touching me. So when he finally jumped off of his soapbox and asked me which current events magazine I would prefer to read, I told him that I would not be staying. I walked back to the front desk and requested all of my forms back. The receptionist didn't question me. She handed me back my paperwork and I left. I was very unhappy with this place! When making the appointment I asked if my insurance was accepted and was told they would verify before my first appointment. I asked the receptionist twice at my first appointment if my insurance was accepted and she said she would let me know at my next appointment. I decided to call my insurance company and they confirmed that they would not cover Dr. Goldberg. I called to inform them that I would not be returning due to my insurance and they knew all along that my insurance wouldn't cover the visit.. There are only two receptionists at this place. The younger one is extremely unprofessional. She is the one that failed to inform me that my insurance wouldn't cover visits. During my visit I heard her talking about other patients in a very unprofessional way. I am not sure how she is employed in what is supposed to be a professional setting! Dr. Goldberg was okay. He was very nice, but seemed anxious to finish my eval and get me scheduled for another appointment. The atmosphere in the office isn't the most relaxing either. This chiropractor is inept and incompetent. Uses the activator tool exclusively randomly all over your body with no rhyme or reason. Your done in five minutes. Does not know how to do manual adjustments. Been to a few good chiropractors and never had a bad experience until him. He uses made up terminology that has no meaning in the chiropractic world. Kept calling me a level three which means nothing. He is very boisterous and obnoxious. Think twice about coming to this office. The short young receptionist needs to take s course in common courtesy and etiquette. I am basically echoing another reviewers story as they are eerily similar. I also purchased a Groupon deal for a 60 minute massage with Wellness Associates. I wasn't really in need of a new chiropractor, but it was good deal for a massage. The upstairs portion of the office was nice, clean and relaxing. The staff were unimpressive with their demeanor. The forms I had to fill out, simply for a massage, were invasive and seemingly unnecessary (asking a lot of personal health information that had nothing to do with a massage...) I was taken into a back room without being told why. There was equipment presumably for a chiropractic consultation so I was confused. I had explicitly stated I had a groupon for a massage only. The Dr was horrible. He started in on my back and why I needed his services and when I stopped him to say I simply wanted a massage, not an adjustment, his demeanor became aggressive and he was very loud. He stated that I was asking for it later in life if I don't see a chiropracter now and I was doomed to years of suffering which he could prevent. Then he threw my packet on the counter and stormed out. Then the lady led me down to a hardly finished basement, into a cold room to do the massage. It was a decent massage, I will give her credit for that. The environment wasn't great and I could hear all the noise from upstairs. So. there you have it. I would not recommend this chiropractor, there was no adjusting! I don't even know why I went as long as I did. The front desk receptionist was never nice, very rude actually. The massages were over priced and there were never appointments available. The day I signed up as a new patient I was told by the chiropractor to get the group on for massage but the receptionist said that's for new clients and since I signed up that day I couldn't buy it and it was 80 regularly. It's been a year from when my visit was but I will never forget it. I went to Dr. Goldberg because I hurt my back and the pain wasn't going away. The first problem I noticed was on the paperwork you need to fill out before being seen it has a section where you put your banking info, routing and account number, this seemed a little sketchy but they had no problem with me leaving it blank. When I get to see Dr. Goldberg first thing he tells me is he had 113 reviews with a 4.9 star rating on google which was strange to me he even mentioned. After me telling him my hobbies of including running, skate boarding and snowboarding he told me I was too old for these things and needed to "start slowing down". At the time I was 31 years old. Wellness Associates has really helped me manage my overall health. I haven't been sick once since starting to receive regular adjustments and I used to get sinus infections regularly. Their massage therapist is really the best; I've had massages at a few other local spas but those can't compare. I also really appreciate the flexibility in scheduling at Wellness Associates. They are always able to work around my work schedule, and I rarely have to wait in the waiting area for my appointment to start. read more

I went to Wellness Associates with a groupon for a 60 min massage and evaluation. My initial call to make the appointment went a little like this: -Hello, I have a groupon for a 60 minute massage and evaluation and I would like to make an appointment please. --Hm alright. We can make an appointment but we are going to charge you a fee if you don't show up or cancel your appointment last minute. -...ok? Seriously? This is how you answer the phone for new clients? I would think the point of this sort of groupon would be to draw in new business. Pointer #1- don't be rude when a new customer calls you. When I came in for the appointment, the inside was well lit and attractive. While I was waiting I read the yelp reviews and I was so glad I did. . I didn't put my health information or even my SSN on the intake sheet so they couldn't somehow try to charge me per others' experiences. The receptionist and the massage therapist talked to each other and even made eye contact with me a few times but when I smiled they just looked away and continued their conversation. I don't expect the red carpet, but they acted like I was intruding on their personal time. Pointer #2- make your clients feel welcome and be friendly. The receptionist took me back to see the doctor. He came in packed with energy and began to bombard me with questions which he barely listened to the answers to. My responses are in the parenthesis. Do you exercise? (yes) When have you been to a Chiropractor? (occasionally in the past for--) What was your condition? (i used to get migraines and --) How long did they treat you? (a few times--). when did you last have a headache? (I had one yesterday, but that was the first one in months. I usually--) What did you take (annoyed sigh... I took ibuprofen). I was pretty ticked at his attack manner and lack of ability to listen past the information he was gathering for his sales pitch. He took sparse notes on a blank sheet of paper. He then told me to stand and touch my toes, turn this way and that. Then he had me lay on his table and he felt my neck and back and goes "oh, man that's it right there... you are at a level two." he lets me up and with all the fervor of a used car salesman and the intuition of a late night tv psychic he dives in. "Have you been in a car accident? Had a fall? Lifted something heavy?" (well I carry my kids sometimes--) AHHA! that's it! You need treatment! You are at a level two! Its a good thing you came in now. This is like the gas light blinking in your car telling you to pull into the exon station. The question is, are you going to listen to your body and take care of yourself. What kind of Insurance do you have? (.........Aetna). Well we are in network just so you know. The two most valuable things in life are time and money wouldn't you agree? (um... actually---) and the question is whether or not you are willing to use your resources to take care of your body. At this point my annoyance has moved into shock and is dwindling towards trying not to burst out laughing... like where is the camera. This guy can NOT be serious. As I LITERALLY bite my lip to keep from laughing, he continues. Now are you serious about your health? (I am.) He whips out a brochure and starts pointing to diagrams of the spinal cord and saying terms that I dont understand. I ask to see it and begin to look at the brochure. He stops talking for a full 2 seconds... and then says "you can just have that" (thank you). "SO we can get you started today on treatment if you are serious about your health." (um. I am not going to be pursuing any treatment.) "Oh, I see, so your health isnt important to you. You can just continue to take ibuprofen until you end up in the ER. (No, my health is important to me. I am just not interested in treatment.) "Alright, well the massage is going to take care of your muscles but I am here to take care of your bones. Let us know when you become serious about taking care of your health." Pointer #3 Manipulation is so unprofessional. Just be good at your job if you want clients. I went downstairs to get the massage. I did notice that the room was a little chilly when I went in for the massage and I turned up the space heater when I went to change. The massage was excellent. The pressure was deep at my request and probably the most effective one I've had in a long long time. It also did last almost the full hour contrary to others' experiences. That was the high point, which is good because the massage was the real reason I was given the groupon. I am bummed that such a great massage therapist is working for such a sleezy office. I have been going to Wellness Associates for well over 10 years. Dr. Goldberg has always resolved my issues within a few visits. I now have my 9 year old grandson going to him for headaches and attention/focus difficulties and he loves his visits with Dr. G. He hasn't had any headaches and is beginning to do well in school. I have never seen a chiropractor before and was really looking forward to what Dr Goldberg had to say. I'm only 29, don't smoke, exercise regularly, and he went on the tell me I'm a "level 2" and that I need to see a chiropractor ASAP because my left leg is a 1/2 inch shorter than my right. I asked him why he thought this and his explanation baffled me "you sit a lot". I immediately corrected him and told him I'm a nurse and all I do is walk and exercise and then he went on to say "must be all that weight your lifting, when you come back to me, I can fix you, if you give me your insurance card now I can tell you what your insurance covers for this visit". WOAH!! I thought this was just a consultation and massage, not a sales pitch and hounding me for my insurance information! He then preceded to tell me that he "hasn't taken a med in 20 years" and how "Tylenol and aspirin destroys your liver, have you ever seen a 62 year old man feel like he's 25?" When I told him yes, my father is in tremendous health, he then went on a rant about how MD stands for "more meds". After I politely corrected him and told him I'm a cardiac nurse, he kept getting louder and louder, insisting he was right. I will never step foot in this mans office again. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars if because my massage was fantastic, best I ever had. The poor massage girl said she has been working there for 11 years, so I can't even imagine how annoyed she is with Dr. Goldberg. I could barely stand him for 10 minutes let alone 11 years! read more
