This was sadly my first, and last visit to Wellspent Brewing. I had some of their beers at beer festivals and in bottles from my trip to St. Louis. But had never made the visit to the taproom until I heard they were unfortunately closing. Rest in peace Wellspent, just know that I will miss your artistry in beer and barrel aged liquids. Bread: A Hoppy Pilsner lower in ABV using Farro and hopped with Citra and Kohatu. Pleasant hop character, but easy drinking and a nice refresher from the other two beers I had! BAQ: A Belgian Quadruple Ale Aged in Red Wine Barrels. Nice tannic structure to the beer that flows into dark dried fruit malt character. Anniversary Blend 2025: A Strong Ale consisting of a blend of 75% Stout, 15% Quad, and 10% Barleywine each aged for 24 Months in Larceny Bourbon Barrels. A beautiful combination of beers into the perfect little package. read more

I've had Wellspent on my list for awhile - we came in on a Friday evening and there was hardly anyone which was insane to me! It's such a cool spot and parking is super easy considering it's street parking. Service was quick, the bartender let us try anything we wanted. I love that they have a sour option, and something for everyone. The place is really clean and welcoming, with tons of tables. They had some really cool art for sale on the walls too. Very local-friendly. They also have a bunch of board and card games to choose from, we found ourselves playing Oregon Trail (it was hilarious), and a couple arcade games. I could see myself spending many a weekend in here! read more

Not busy on a Wednesday night but we got there about 45 minutes prior to closing. Not something I like to do but ever since having a Smokey Delight from Bootlegging I have wanted it again, so here we are. Great space, clean and well organized. Bartender was friendly and helpful with questions and poured my Smokey Delights as well as another sample to try and my hubby's Fitzs Rootbeer. We opted to drink in the patio. Lots of tables and a grassy area for bags if you are so inclined. It was a beautiful night and quite an enjoyable experience. Next time I think we would come with friends as it would be a great place to sit and enjoy drinks. read more

This is an interesting place on the edge of SLUs campus but kind of isolated. Had an outdoor patio area but it needed some lights or decoration or something to make it just not a concrete patio. Inside was interesting and they do have some local artists art for sale on the walls, always happy to see a place showing local art! The beer selection was a bit odd, i tasted the Bamberg Rauchbier and it was so smoky I could not bring myself to order it. But they had a good variety of beer brewed there. It was nice but the place could use a bit more character, especially on the outdoor space as it could have so much potential! read more

Cleanliness, friendly staff, and really good beer... I don't think you'll find a better Brewery in St. Louis. It's a very cool, family-friendly atmosphere. This is not your wall to wall TV, loud, breweries; it's definitely a place to have a beer and read a book, take a date to get to know them, or bring the family for game night. The only drawback is that they only have tamales on site from the Tamale Man as food. BUT ordering in food is encouraged, and they also have a partnership with Salsa Rosada to deliver food as well. So if you're trying to have a good beer and catch up with a friend and just relax. This is the place. Oh, and they're dog friendly!! read more

We came here for our first trivia night. There were five rounds. We lost....like epically lost. However the brewery was fantastic. I got a pink seltzer type drink it was delicious! My husband had a dark lager and loved it. Surprisingly he typically doesn't like dark beer but he really enjoyed this one. They allow pets. It was very clean inside even with multiple dogs. They sell food that is made prior. This night they had tamales with black bean and sweet potatoes. Get them while you can because they do sell out. Service is wonderful. There was one bartender who was consistently helping over twenty people and no one waited more then five minutes. She even walked around and gave the dogs treats. read more

Went to Wellspent on a Thursday evening for trivia. The brewery had both inside and outside gated patio seating. The indoor area was well lit and the there was plenty of room for everyone to sit and spread out. It is also dog friendly both inside and on the patio. They offered tamales which I did not try but also allow outside food which is nice. All of the beers I tried were quite tasty as well. I DEFINITELY will be back to Wellspent and would recommend others to check it out. read more

I am so glad Wellspent Brewing is back open in the Lou. I was also surprised to see that their old check-in on Yelp was gone. When I checked in, all that popped up was this new one. Either way, I am thrilled they are back and considering the large standing room only crowd, I am not the only one. The Wellspent brewery is small, compact and cozy. There are several stools at the bar, multiple tables and several high-tops as well. In addition to all the indoor seating, WB has a relaxing patio. I came here not too long ago with the Pub Pass (pro-tip: check that out if you haven't yet already) for a pint. This spot was refreshing in so many ways. The beer was cold, crisp, and flavorful. The building was clean, bright, and open-air. And the outdoor patio was beautiful, and perfectly situated for evening time summer movie nights! (they were showing Groundhogs Day) They serve the beer in more wine-like glasses, but you have the option to also get a small taster, or a DIY sampler of several ones you'd like to taste. The bartender was patient and helpful. I enjoyed the recommendations he gave. They also had an old school crowler :) Yep, you can get what you love packaged into a 32 oz larrrrrge can to go home with you! Talk about one way to spend an evening with friends. I really love this place, the people, and their beer. Wellspent is named after a life the owners wanted to create, a life Wellspent. Umm, how sweet is that? It's not fake either, these people are pure gold and always happy to be there and alive in general. That Joy is diffused into the space and their beer, I'm a huge fan. Always warm and welcoming and they have rad events literally every week (like I need another excuse to visit)! Go check them out! Grand opening weekend was March 2-4. We visited Friday night and got to experience the first day excitement. The place was packed, but there were open tables. When it gets warmer, they have a huge patio and lots of picnic tables. There is parking for a food truck, so I imagine this will be a popular place to be. There are currently 2 beers on tap that they brew. Obviously looking to expand. They had several other beers on tap, including a cider. The beer was fine, nothing spectacular. The location, high ceilings, stash of board games by the front door, and friendly staff make this place special. read more

My wife is a fan of trying out new breweries. She recently celebrated her birthday, and Wellspent was the first stop of the evening. The brewery is an old movie theater and had an architectural vibe that I liked. It was well maintained, and the staff was very friendly. One of the workers had on a Mauhaus cat cafe shirt on and was very friendly and talked to myself and my brother-in-law about that cafe. It isn't a big deal, but it always helps the experience when the staff is nice. The choice of beverages is modest, which is common in recently opened breweries. Between the three of us we tried five or six different beers. We thought that all of them were quite good. There is a patio space that we didn't try due to the unusually cold spring, but in the summer it would be a nice area to sit at. There is also a spot adjacent to the patio where they have food trucks. On the Saturday we were there Frankly Sausages was there. They are an excellent truck which bodes well for future food truck choices. Overall I liked the brewery and would recommend checking it. As a bonus it is close in Midtown to SLU, the Fox, and Powell. Stop in for a drink before or after visiting one of these locations to liven up your evening even more. read more

This is an amazing place to go especially with your dog. They have a huge outdoor area, half paved with tanked and the other half grassy. I was able to let me dig off leash and run around in the grass. The people that worked there even gave my dog treats and were very kind about the dog. The beer itself was good too. The bartenders are happy to talk to you about the beers and give recommendations. They have board games and outdoor games like cornhole. read more

Wellspent is one of the newer breweries to open in St.Louis, although their beer already has its established taste. Located in Midtown, Wellspent is just a short Uber ride from downtown. Wellspent took over an abandon old movie theater, although you wouldnt know as the inside has been artistically updated to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is perfect for sampling some of their craft beer. Board games are available, as is a limited food menu from The Tamale Man. However, if Tamales are not your thing you within a short walk to both Pappy's BBQ and Southern should you want something more to eat. The beer at Wellspent is spot on, with a somewhat heavy focus on fruited sours such as Apricot, Boysenberry, and even Mango although flavors are seasonal so depending on the time of year you may find a rotating selection. In addition to sours, you can find a variety of beers that would likely make even the pickiest of beer drinkers happy. Many of the beers here are aged in wine barrels, with a few also making their way to bourbon barrels. In addition to the tap room, there is an outside patio that is perfect for those summer evenings. Street parking is available in front of, and across the street from the brewery. Overall if you are a craft beer fan I highly recommend that you check out Wellspent. read more

This was just a random find that we saw on our way to Pappy's and made a point of stopping in after lunch. It was quiet with only a couple folks in the place, but the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. They have an interesting selection of beers, most with very low ABV which is a nice change of pace. Crowlers were on special so we ended up grabbing two of their seasonal beer to go (unlike the others, this was 10% ABV and the perfect winter warmer style beer). The venue is unique in the fact that it was an old theater that sat abandoned for years. The owner graduated from Rose Hulman with a degree in chemical engineering and definitely knows how to brew. It was super quiet for a Saturday night, but it made for the perfect opportunity to chat with the bartender about St. Louis' booming beer scene. I tried the Mango and Raspberry variations of OTBS, and they were both great. I'm normally not a huge sour beer fan, but the sour notes of these beers came from the fruit, and the fruit notes really stood out. Great summer beers! This was a great brewery to spend some time working, having fun with friends, or just sitting by yourself to enjoy a brew. When we walked in Home Alone was on the big screen which made us instantly feel at home. The only reason it's not 5 stars for us was the beer selection. (I changed it to 5 stars since I'm the one writing the review) We had the Farmhouse IPA which I thought was fantastic but my fiancé thought was ok. The visit was pleasant, this new brewery is in midtown not too far from me. We came to check out the sour beers! The on the bright side -Raspberry was my choice and pretty much nailed it for the sours! The on the bright side pineapple /guava was really good as well. The atmosphere is nice there are big enough takes inside to play some games. The outside patio is really nice as well. They have boards set up for bags and even play movies out there! I love that they have the simple board games to do something. Their selection is all around up on the brewery charts as well as the atmosphere for the indoor vs outdoor choices. I was really wanting to like this place when we walked in. I was in the area trying different local breweries and this was our last stop. When you walk in the minimalistic decor is very cute and understated. There are also a plethora of games that you can opt to play while enjoying a few brews. Unfortunately, I think they are still trying to figure out the beer part. We asked for a flight so we could try a few different options. But they do not have this. As a regular beer drinker I found this strange that a relatively hip brewery doesn't offer flights? For sure a miss. They did let me try a few different options before settling on the raspberry beer at their suggestion. It was just okay. Nothing special but it was the best of the 3 that I tried so I landed on that. Their IPA beer didn't seem like an IPA at all so if you are in the market for that I would go elsewhere. Their outdoor area is cute and very homey and we hung out there for awhile while playing games. Long story short this place is great for groups and meet ups. But not so great on the beer. read more

This is a hidden gem...we are craft beer lovers and finally made it here this summer, very pleased. They had a 2 special barrel age releases in bottle to take home, BA imperial stout (BB-001) and BA mars rover (celph portrait). Enjoyed the BA quad, not so Lil stout and Mars rover! The indoor and outdoor space is clean, modern and open. Plenty of space to spread out with games to play. Love that their games are organized and put away nicely. Loved the outdoor space with cornhole area. Definitely a new fav brewery for us and will be back for more! read more
