Fun spot! Super cozy with tasty beers and a chill vibe. One of the oldest breweries in town! The staff were friendly and super knowledgeable. Love the decor!

I had a genuinely enjoyable evening at the Schlafly Tap Room. I kicked things off with their crisp, refreshing pilsner. This was just the right kind of easy-drinking beer to settle into the evening and relax with my FitBit showing I had completed 12000 steps today. Then came a glorious mountain of chicken wings, generously sauced and perfectly messy. I took my time with them and once I'd cleaned up and reclaimed the use of my fingers, I caught up on writing Yelp reviews. The Tap Room has free wifi and I was lucky enough to be seated near a power outlet. After a full day of wandering around downtown, my phone was running on fumes, so being able to recharge both my device and myself was a welcome bonus. The staff were warm and attentive without hovering, and the whole place has that laid-back brewpub charm - exposed brick, high ceilings, and the comforting hum of conversation. It's the kind of spot where you can settle in for a solo evening or meet up with friends and feel equally at home. All in all, it was a relaxed, satisfying night with good food, good beer, and a genuinely welcoming vibe. [Review 1181 of 2025 - 447 in Missouri - 24734 overall]

Okay. I'll say I'm not a beer person, but I love me a brewery! This was one was wonderful and our beer/bartender was soo nice and helpful. Super chill atmosphere :) I tried samples of the raspberry (it was very light on raspberry), pumpkin ale (dessert in your mouth!), vanilla pumpkin ale (the original is better), and cider (very nice and refreshing)! The sample size was enough for me to enjoy what I needed. I can't imagine drinking a full glass of beer! I'm a cocktail girlie... and behold, I ordered a g and t, fabulous! This is a nice place to drinks and food. My friend had a delicious pretzel with a slightly spicy mustard sauce. My other friend got the wings which she liked but a lot for one person. Def check it out! :)

Upscale pub grub for my taste. Service just right with prompt, courteous attention. Such a quaint and cozy atmosphere. Food was prepared and presented with lots of appeal and taste. Don't forget dessert!

I always love coming here and sitting at the bar!! Friendly service and they are always knowledgeable about their beers and liquors!! I haven't had anything bad on the menu either!! Crispy ribs are a pleasant surprise!!

I can still remember my first visit to the Schlafly tap room in the early 2000s. I ordered a Bud Light by mistake. I always get a chuckle out of what the bartender told me. Immediately I was taught what real good beer taste like. Later I went to my first hop in the city beer fest at the taproom. With over 40 beers on tap I was able to try so many great beers by Schlafly. After that, I was hooked some might say I became a beer snob. I have been returning to the Schlafly tap room for over 20 years and it always has great service, great food and of course great beers. The taproom is huge. It has an area with a bar and seating along with a restaurant. If you want to book your party for the upstairs gathering space they will accommodate pretty large parties. I do miss the pool table as I used to go up there after Blues games to shoot pool. Maybe they moved it I just didn't see it. This is a perfect place to visit before a soccer game, hockey game or just Four anytime that you want to get together with Friends, grab a beer, or just get a good bite to eat.

Wanted to try this brewery after reading all the good reviews, but we were not that impressed. The bartender wasn't super friendly, and they didn't have a great beer selection.

I love going to breweries as they are the most chillest vibes places to hang out at. This one is no different. We sat at the bar area and enjoyed some beers, cocktails and food. My friend does not drink beer so she was able to get a gin and tonic. I had sampled a few beers before landing on the one to get which was the summer lager. My other friend got the Oktoberfest one. I had a very tasting pretzel too and it came with cheese sauce and mustard. My friend had got the chicken wings. They smelled good. We all talked to the beer tender and he was super chill. We did not get his name. This space has a rustic type feeling to it. It has plenty of seating and two sides to it. There is a shop here but they do not have many options for t-shirts at all.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with a group of about 22. Our server (didn't get his name) was phenomenal, he was very attentive to our large party. We ordered a few appetizers; the pork rinds and crispy spare ribs. Everyone loves the pork rinds a lot. The ribs were a little over done. The favorite entrees were jagerschnitzel, fish & fries, tap room burger and fish tacos. I was told the pork loin wasn't seasoned enough but the gravy was very well seasoned along with the potatoes. Tap room burger was great and the fish tacos were not dry and the red chili aioli made the tacos. I also had a garden salad loved the blue cheese crumbles and dried cranberries. No beer this time due to dry January, but will definitely be back to try a flight.

A great place to grab lunch, dinner, or just a cold beverage! Friendly, attentive bar and table service, great craft beers, tasty comfort foods and relaxing, casual ambience. Daily food special board is available plus plenty of menu items from sandwiches, salads, burgers and entrees. Overall, 4.0+ rated experience for all above. Expect to pay $10-20pp depending what you like to eat or drink. Today we ordered warm Pretzels and housemade Beer Cheese dip as a starter - awesome with one of their local/craft drafts! For lunch, ordered the Shepards Pie (todays special), a hearty and filling meal with tender beef and veggie mixture topped with mashed potatoes. Filling if hungry, or enough to share if you have lighter appetite, but it hit the spot! Also tried the Soup of the day, Creamy Turkey Horseradish; housemade with chunks of potato, veggies, turkey and great creamy soup flavors. On a rainy cool day, this comfort fare was perfect! In the past, I have tried their Burgers, Reuben, French Onion Soup, Sausage & Sauerkraut plate - you won't go wrong with anything you crave here! Check out the midtown Schlafly Taproom with EZ parking in their lot. ENJOY!!!

The fish and fries are fantastic. The fish tacos, spinach salad with salmon were also a hit along with the pretzel.

Great tap room close to Energizer Park. Ask for Brian or Zack. Service is always great as is the food especially if you ask for these two dudes!Ordered the Crisp IPA and my hubby got the APA. I am an IPA lover and this was perfectly refreshing without being heavy on a hot sumner day. If you need a flight to see what fits your fancy, do so because there is more than enough choices to sample. We ordered a bunch of various appetizers and all were great for our small group. The beer bread, fries, and crispy ribs all hit the spot! Great beer, food, & atmosphere!

I met here with members of a local running group for one of their periodic pub runs. It was extremely cold when I got there, despite having been nearly 90 degrees out the day before. Several members of our group stood in the doorway, preventing other patrons from entering and exiting. Modern's staff deserves credit for not complaining or forcing them to leave. They may have sensed that this wasn't the local unhoused population. Only employed people run recreationally, despite having relatively little free time. I see this place all the time, from my car on the adjacent highway, on my way back to civilization, but I'd never had the occasion to stop by. Perhaps I'd be a regular if I attended the nearby community college. But if I could afford to eat here, why would I be attending community college? The beer will set you back. I would have been fine with a 32 oz can of Miller High Life, but when in Rome. There's an extensive selection of beers on tap, and probably even more in cans and bottles. I'm no connoisseur, and I don't have that kind of time, so I went with something called Silent Gs, or something to that effect. I justified it, in part, by telling myself that its name is a reference to the Lil Wayne bar adored by people who started listening to rap music in 2003. I paid $7.50-ish for a not particularly large serving, but damn it if it wasn't pretty good. I appreciate it anytime one of these higher gravity pale ales doesn't taste like it was sourced from a trough-style urinal at a circa '83 ballpark. A couple of girls from the aforementioned run group mentioned that this place carries a brussels spouts salad. I don't eat salad, because I'm a guy, but these girls are certified baddies, and I succumbed to the peer pressure. I attempted to mitigate the impact on my reputation by also ordering a slice of pepperoni pizza. I'm gonna have to have a difficult meeting with my accountant, as a result, but it was worth it. The entree serving of the salad would have been enough food, even without the pizza. It's enough vegetables that it's actually kinda obnoxious, like they're trolling you. Who do they think I am, a damn cow? Part of that may have been the brussels sprouts. They help give the salad a surprising heft, for something that doesn't have any meat in it, and help make up for the lack of bacon, which I generally require with brussels sprouts. The candied walnuts, which I thought might be croutons, were another delightful surprise and complemented the tang of the pickled red onions. The pizza came topped with an oddly precise-looking quantity and arrangement of pepperonis, like they might have Russell Crowe from the movie A Beautiful Mind working in the kitchen. It's not like at Domino's, where they just toss them on there and they might not even be on half the pizza. I guess they have to do that when they sell it by the slice. You'd be upset if you didn't get enough of them, because they're delicious. They're the kind that curl up into little cups filled with disgustingly unhealthy and yet delicious oil. I wonder if that's also because they serve it by the slice and hence have to reheat it. That may have resulted in the end of the crust suffering from a bit of Popeyes biscuit-like dryness, but what are you going to do. Then again, that may have been a purposeful attempt to get you to purchase more expensive beer. Everything else here was so well executed, it's hard to imagine this wasn't intentional on their part.

I came with my parents and husband and we all agreed it was a great idea and a very comfortable space, perfect for what was needed. I was surprised at how relatively ample the parking was here despite its proximity to the city. We found a spot with no problems. There were discreet signs that directed us up the stairs to where the event was held. It was spacious, airy, and cool, with a decent number of tables and a very nice large bar, as well as restrooms for both men and women. Our family members who spoke were able to stand on a small stage and share their thoughts. The food was served buffet style in front of the stage. Although you'd think it might be hard to hear given the acoustics, they worked out a way to make it so their speeches could be heard easily. Even visiting with other folks after they spoke, it never became too loud to hear each other. There are also nice TVs which displayed photos of the family. Although we used the space for a celebration of life, I can imagine it would be a good fit for all sorts of events, from corporate parties to just a chill hang out space when it's open to the public. It did get a little bit hot in the space as the event wore on, but it wasn't intolerable. The food and drinks were also quite tasty, especially for catered/buffet style food. There were pretzel bites and cheese dip and three different types of slider burgers: a standard/original burger, a taco burger, and an Impossible burger. The pretzel bites were crispy and buttery. I had a taco burger slider. It was a tiny bit dry but had a great flavor. The bartenders were great -- friendly, answering questions, working efficiently, and very kind to all the guests. Husband enjoyed the beers he tried and my mom and I both ordered the "Cranberry Crush," which was a yummy (and strong!) cocktail that was bright and perfectly sweet. They also serve mocktails, which I love! Glad to include folks who are sober. Thanks, 4 Hands, for creating a welcoming and comfortable space for us!

I came here with friends for trivia night on a Tuesday and it was packed. Weekly trivia nights are just such a good time, great way to hang out, be present, and put your phone down for a few hours. Highly recommend coming for that. They also have a pizza restaurant attached to the brewery which is a nice bonus. They sell pizza by the slice too which is perfect if you just want a little something to snack on while you drink. Speaking of drinks, we got beer obviously. I tried the citrus tangerine one and it was so refreshing. I also tried the vanilla cookie beer which sounds a little out there but was really interesting and yummy. The space itself is super spacious and clean. Oh also they have a lot of board games that you can play too. I would definitely come back, either for pizza, or happy hour with coworkers or to play the games there. They have pool too.

Elevated casual atmosphere that is super family friendly. We sat at a table in the main dining area, which also had a large bar with nice plush chairs. Plenty of TVs on mute if you want to check in on a sports game. Service was 11/10 - seamless, well paced, and very friendly staff Food was 4.5/5 - pretzels, brat, schnitzel were all delicious, best schnitzel Ive had outside of Germany Sadly the apple strudel dessert fell flat (seemed like it was on day 3, soggy pastry and a bit chilled like it was pulled from the fridge and microwaved) Plenty of fun German and Austrian classics, amazing beer, full bar with tasty cocktails, winning atmosphere and excellent service. Definitely worth a visit (or two or 10)

Friendly, welcoming and attentive. I was confused on beers so he let me have a mini tasting of light beers. I'm not sure which one I went with but I believe he said either the house helles or schankbier. Either way they both were tart and bland tasting . Stronger than a cider and a beer. I wasn't sold . For food I ordered the smash burger and fries. It came out fresh and hot but it was just ok! The ambiance of the building is what sold me. The elegance and high ceilings i absolutely loved. They also have the brewery inside the building to gawk and gaze at which was pretty neat. Building was well lit and plenty of seating. I attached the days and hrs of operation and a couple of menu options.
