EDIT: I've avoided eating here at the restaurant in fear of getting sick. But,after some decent food stories and a large amount of time,i tried it out. Welp... certainly the low-budget-est casino I've ever been to. Almost comically so. For instance, when most casinos give away a car, it's usually something pretty cool like a Porsche, Ferrari, heck, even a Mustang or a PT Cruiser would have been an upgrade on the ride they were giving away: an outdated Ford Focus. As someone who once owned a Ford Focus, I can tell you that I'd pretty much rather go to hell in a handbasket than anywhere in a Ford Focus, but maybe that's my own personal grudge talking and the Ford Focus has suddenly become a hot ticket item out there on the automobile scene. I'm pretty sure their air conditioning is either broken or they're too budget to turn it up enough for it to give any sort of relief from the Nevada dessert, but the good news is that there's actually a really nice Starbucks in here that's clean and makes a mean (the good kind of mean) Iced Chai Tea Latte. There's also a Scores gentleman's club inside, adjacent to the Starbucks, if that's your sort of thang, and plenty of video gaming machines, although you should be ready to be pried of your money faster than ever before. These machines are the tiiiight. i would only go back for the Starbucks, and even that's a big maybe. read more

Unless you live in the middle of Nevada or the middle of Utah you probably didn't come to Wendover, you ended up here. There were only about two hours worth of salt flats between Salt Lake City and here - a seemingly endless lullaby in the wee hours of the night on the second day of driving across the country. We were tired and just needed a bed for a couple of hours and a shower in the morning. Check in was fast and we got in, turned on the AC from the off position, called down to add a late check-out and went about the business of rest. ZZZzzzzzz...... In the morning I run the shower and run around to grab my clothes. A maid just walks in, past the do not disturb sign and despite the late checkout we have and asks me if we need anything. I looked at her, looked down at my completely nude body, looked up at her again and said no. Whatever man, no big deal I guess. Then I re-locked the door and went back to the shower. It's backing up. Was she a psychic? I called down to the front desk, really to see if there is another shower we can use, because I'm in a hurry and really can't be bothered with it, but instead they send up a plumber. For the next 30 minutes are some of the grossest noises imaginable - wet, clogged pipe gagging, the funk of 40,000 years, a million nights of drunken gambler dry heave being plowed through - and now my wardrobe has been upgraded to a sheet. The plumber snaked that podunk Nevada hotel shower drain on the other side of the wall while yelling out: "Oh yeah, this one is bad. Ooh yeah, I'm going to have to get somebody up here to clean this up." Then on the walkie-talkie: "Uh yeah, I'm going to need somebody up here, there's a mess in here - Sorry guys - Hello! Yeah, I need somebody up here. There's a mess in here!! Jeez!." Then he spent considerable time pretty much just chatting us up, holding plumbing shit while I'm still just sitting on the bed in a sheet while we all just hung out there in our room waiting for the maid. She cleaned the shower, cleaned it very well in fact, of course, I didn't ever really see the worse, thank god. And I took a shower in there - I did, I had to - but it was all I could do to to not gag then and for the next few days thinking of the horrors that had just happened there. After several annoying conversations at the desk about how all of this was not okay they comped my night, but I still don't think we're even - it was all horrendously disgusting AND it made me several hours late getting back on the road. This place is actually called the Wendover Nugget. I recently stayed here for the second time while I was down in SLC for a TOOL concert. My brother & I went here for my first night in town, because, let's be honest, there isn't _that_much to do in SLC. The hotel is ok. It's nothing to write home about. But, it is a place to rest your head & to gamble, which is the reason my brother & I went. For $10 more (or $20) you can upgrade your room to a nicer one (which I had the first time I stayed here), but we didn't deem it necessary this time. Although, I will admit that the nicer rooms feel much cleaner. The room we got this time was pretty gangsta, for lack of a better explanation. They do have a restaurant in the hotel, and a Starbucks too. For gamblers: I actually had better luck gambling here than at the Nugget's neighbor, Montego Bay - just FYI. read more

There are going to be two reviews for this establishment. One for the Hotel, the other for the casino. Hotel- 3 out of 5: This hotel is good for a Wendover hotel. It has one of the best pools and the layouts and amenities are good. There is a Starbucks on site and to ask for anything extra, like towels or pillows it will take forever. There are restaurants on-site but they are overpriced for not great food. The best part is the price from $39-59 a night you can get a room in Wendover and go to the other Casinos. Tip: If you join their players club, you can get free rooms if you gamble there. Casino- 3 out of 5: The Casino at the Nugget is good. Mostly inhabited by slot and poker machines you will realize there are not that many table games to choose from. You have blackjack, which appears to be the staple of the pit. There are 3 Roulette tables, and 2 craps tables. They offer other games like 3 card poker, let it ride and pai-gow on the busier nights. If you go on a week night you will only play blackjack, craps, or roulette. There is not much to do if you're there on a week night. read more

The rooms are horrible, the TV reception was ewwww, and the hotel itself looks run down. The town looks like something out of The Hills Have Eyes and is kinda creepy. This place was awful. We paid extra for a jacuzzi tub room but the water was luke warm and the jets in the tub didn't work. The tv was also broken unless you like 1980's fuzzy channels. And the bathroom outlet was broken so blow drying your hair with a mirror was out. The ice machine on our floor was broken as well. The cafe had the worst food we took 1 bite and couldn't eat it and we told them it was bad and they charged us full price. When we checked out we explained the room issues and they shrugged and said sorry and at first offered a discount and then retracted the offer. AND the buffet was closed and the place was Empty. whoa...80's music in the parking lot. Who's bumping this? Oh...no wait...the 80's music is being filtered through every part of the property! Go to the restaurant in the back...not the buffet...but the restaurant to the right of the buffet. And there you will see an indoor eating area that looks like it's outdoors, complete with fake palm trees. The best part: endless spaghetti with meatball mondays. You can't even finish the first serving. It's impossible. Comes with an orchid flower. not sure why. Every dish at this restaurant is ridiculously huge. You just got lucky at the nugget! Wendover is a strange place - a very small town in the middle of nowhere. Its a border town between Nevada and Utah. Its got 5 (soon to be 4) casinos. This is one of them. A few years ago it was the Stateline Nugget but is now the Wendover Nugget. Its got 3 main restaurants (steakhouse, cafe, buffet), a Starbucks, and a food court. I tried the cafe and it was fine. Not too expensive, waiter went out of his way to deliver good service. I'd return to the restaurant again. Room was fine, I didnt have the problem of the last reviewer. It was a clean comfortable room in the main tower with a nice flat screen TV, comfortable beds, and fairly quiet. Bathroom was fine --- no problems at all. All of the staff, from the people at the front desk, restaurant, and casino were great. Wendover had a power failure the day I was there but the generators were running and the casino was going strong. This casino is directly across the street from Montego Bay connected by a skywalk, so you always have the option to walk across the street if your luck isn't holding up. The room they put us in had a broken A/C and no hot water in the shower. We asked for a different room, they said no, told us to go talk to the pit boos, he said we were in the room for one whole day out of a 4 day trip, he said, if we asked him to change rooms after we were only there a couple of hours he would give us a different room, but because we were there one whole day, it was to late to ask for a different room. This makes no sense at all, to anyone with any common sense. The whole stay sucked, customer service is terrible. No one wants to help out in anyway. Skip this Hotel, try the Motel 6 down the road, it has to be better than this place. read more

STAY AWAY!!! This place is a disaster. Let's start with our room. It is in the tower on the fifth floor. We walked in to a room with no changed sheets. We called room service to change them and they said no problem. There was blood on one of our pillows and long hair throughout the sheets. The bathroom has the towel rack ripped out of the wall and a big hole remains there. There is pubic hair throughout the entire bathroom. We went out for the evening and returned to our room at 1am and the sheets were never changed. It was disgusting. When we took a shower in the morning, the drain in the shower immediately backed up and flooded the bathroom. It was a nightmare. Next, this epic disaster of a restaurant, The Golden Harvest Cafe. Around midnight my wife and I stopped in to order pancakes and mozzarella sticks to go. We waited and waited. After 32 minutes our food finally arrived. We then proceeded to wait at the register for another five minutes in a line of five people. The lady at the second register waved me over to help me out and took my players card and receipt. She then proceeded to help and ring up the three people behind me while I just sat there. When the third person behind me was being rang up, I finally asked if they were going to help me. The manager, Hortencia, was at the other register and said, "I have never seen you in my life." I said, "yes, I am standing right here." She said, "we don't have any of your things." I said, yes, this lady took them," and pointed to where my players card and receipt were placed. I said, "this wait is a joke. We've waited thirty plus minutes for pancakes." she told me if I had a problem with the kitchen I had to go and tell them. I asked for the manager and she said she was and I asked why I couldn't make the complaint with her. This is when the racial discrimination started. She began speaking Spanish to everyone around us while giving me dirty looks. I asked her if this is how she was going to solve the problem by giving me disrespectful looks and speaking Spanish about me to her coworkers. All she did was stare at me. Her coworkers began apologizing for the situation while she just sat there speaking Spanish about me. Hortencia is the WORST manager in the world. She is a disgrace. To make matters worse, when I went to file a complaint at the front desk, I was told I couldn't because they are different departments and had to complain at the restaurant to the manager. Well, Hortencia IS the problem. When I explained that, I was told I could speak with the pit boss, but still they couldn't do anything and I had to come back the following day to make a complaint with the actual manager of the hotel. Lastly, in the poker room, I had the "Aces Cracked" promotion where you get to spin the wheel on Friday. I spun and landed on the $20 Free Slot Play. Saturday morning I went to play it on my players card and it wasn't there. I asked the poker manager what was going on and if it could be added to my card and he said I had to wait until 4pm to speak with the other poker manager to receive the promo. It was 9am and we were leaving at 11am. All I got was a shrug and a sorry. This was the final straw. The lack of management, friendliness, respect, cleanliness and ownership is truly amazing. And by the looks of all the other reviews, I am not the only one who feels this way. I will never go here again. read more

THe service is incredibly slow, rude and the food itself is ridiculously overpriced and the 2 times we've found ourselves there it came out cold after a 45 minute wait. This hotel is a dump of the first order. Tub stopperunscrewed and left l ying on tub floor. Shower water suddenly changes temperature to scalding. Coffee pot missing pieces. It is a non-smoking room, but outside the window, which opens to the courtyard is a 12" wide ledge filled with cigarette butts and stubbed out ash skid marks. Obviously people have smoked in this room and amazingly the staff just leaves the ashes and butts on the ledge! There are no cups in bathroom. The TV has no printed channel guide in the room and the on-screen interface is a first attempt - very clumsy, takes forever to navigate. The restaurant: this is a Tuesday night; the place is almost empty except for creeps who look like they didn't make the cut for the cast of "My Name is Earl" because they were too ugly, but waited 10 minutes after being seated and never did see a waiter. The shuttle service in Wendover is terrible the last two days November 30 and December 1 have been awful waiting for 30 minutes or more and sometimes not even being able to get onto the bus the resorts here depend on the shuttle service and it's doing a terrible job who wants to stand outside that long in the freezing cold read more

We requested a non-smoking Jacuzzi suite instead we are given a double queen smoking room. After we had already paid for a week stay. TERRIBLE!!! If I could give negative stars I would. This place is absolutely poor! Terrible customer service, they gave us the run around with rooms. First room the A/C didn't work, second room the AC really didnt work and the key wouldn't work which caused two trips to the lobby. The hired help had a favorite line constantly "it's policy". We are simply passing thru and thought this would be okay, but now we are sorry. Run, don't walk, away from this place. Don't stay here! The two hours to Wendover disappeared on a blink or I should say on a web designing fog. We pulled into the block square Nugget, of Starbuck's fame, got our room keys and parked the car. That's when the fun began. First the garage elevator didn't work. Next we couldn't find our room because guests are forced to navigate through the filthy empty casino with all of their belongings. Did I say empty? Deader than a wet firecracker on on the fourth of July. There were more casino personnel wanderering the floors than patrons. We finally navigated to our room on the third floor. The stench of mildew wafted up to our tired olfactory glands even before we opened room 321's door. Now when a hotel room boasts a jacuzzi tub, one assumes it's in the bathrrom, right? Wrongola! A giant jacuzzi tub was tucked right next to the king bed. The carpet surrounding the tub was warped, wet and malorderous. I'm not sure who was grumpier at this point, my husband, who had been driving sínce 6:00 AM or I, who could only claim raging sinus drainage. I called the very nice desk clerk who didn't sound too surprised and who graciously agreed to find us another room. Odds were good since 98% of the hotel was empty judging by the eleven cars in the garage. We rode to the fourth floor and found our room instantly because it was right next to the ice and soda machine and across from the elevator. Surprisingly it wasn't a bad room, the bed had some cushion and the room spray masked any foul odors. Normally I probably wouldnt have even noticed the one other detriment, but in my sniffly condition a Kleenex box containing only seven translucent sheets really was the final affront. I grabbed one of the half rolls of TP off the roller and joined my snoring husband in bed. Only reason to enter this flea bag of a casino/hotel is to get a Starbucks; just don't expect to use your Starbucks card, it's not accepted. read more

Can you say dump, I had the front desk switch my room it was dirty and the bed is concave on both sides from the bedding being worn out. The second room has drywall falling off the wall and the towel rack is falling off the wall. The curtains are torn and the room is really ghetto for me. The lunch buffet was really bad with old food when I complained they said thank you for letting us know. The front desk staff acted as if they had heard these complaints many times and really couldn't care less. I really don't understand how any casino could be in this bad a shape. This place HAS to be a front to launder money. Only thing that can explain it. They couldn't care less about customer service and management is non-existent in the restaurant and bar. I didn't stay in the rooms, thank God based on other reviews, so I can only comment on the Casino. Several of the employees in the restaurant and bar were busy texting away while a line formed. We tried to get seated at the restaurant, which was 20% full and were told we couldn't be seated because they were "waiting for a reservation." I asked "What....is a party of 100 coming?" They were totally confused by my question and we ended up leaving after they refused to seat us. At the bar the manager was texting (as were multiple other employees through out the casino) while they played music from the 1950's and even some from the 20's. When I approached him to ask if they might change the music, he wouldn't even look up from his texting. No name tag. When I asked if he was the manager he said "maybe" without looking up. When I said "I'll wait until your done texting" he was visibly irritated and brushed me off. When I pressed him he called security and had me "extracted" from the Casino as he called it! It was bizarre. The seriously out of shape keystone cops that showed up couldn't keep up as I raced for the nearest exit. I have never seen such a poorly managed establishment. Management was so non-existent that we were left wondering what the business model actually was. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this dump at all cost. The Nugget has gone down hill! We came to Wendover for the Super Bowl weekend. Seems everyone in my group only lost money at the Nugget. There were only 2 hotels that had free Super Bowl parties, so we picked the Nugget as it had the better screens. We were really disappointed. When we got to the area early so we could make sure we got seats, we sat in the front row, and they employees told us that we could sit there as it was first come first serve. About an hour later another staff member came and kicked us out of the seats and now said they were reserved...yet when we called them earlier we couldn't reserve seats as it was First come first served! They also had a "buffet" line for the game. It was 1 trip through for 5 dollars on paper plates. Wasn't worth the cost and the food looked horrible. We did however get food from Trina's Tacos next to the Sports Betting area. Much better food and cheaper! read more

Buffet Terrible...Double Charged my Credit Card & Customer Service SUCKS! Stayed overnight in Wendover, UT on way to Seattle, decided to try our luck at a couple of W. Wendover's casinos and have dinner at the Nugget's buffet. We had printed an Online Coupon for "buy-one-get-one-free" meal at the buffet...mediocre selection on the hot food lines, and not sure just how long their "desserts" had set out to get good & dryed-out! My husband tried a oatmeal raisin cookie aka Hockey Puck...if he would have dropped it on his foot, he would have broken the foot for sure! So I tried a German Choc. Brownie (approx. 2 inch square) that was 95% un-edible too...I would have broken a tooth or two if I had tried biting into it! A few days later we viewed our bank's credit card charges and found we had 2 separate charges; each for 1 buffet dinner...for a total of 2 dinner charges....so much for the 2-for-1 coupon! Called the Nugget to ask for them to correct it and credit one charge back....had to call 3 different days to finally get a reply. The attitude of the person was pretty much crappy...we have to instead dispute the double billing with our bank. Will NEVER return to this casino or buffet! read more

I should have checked Yelp. First, I had to park in BFE, because the parking garage on the side of the hotel with my room, was full. When I arrived at my room, the key cards didn't work, so I called the front desk. The spanglish-speaker at the desk told me - unapologetically - to bring the cards back down and get new ones. When I suggested someone simply come to the room with keys that worked, I was told "no one else is around". Upon my arrival at the front desk, I told the person my key cards didn't work, and she replaced them with new ones. There was no apology, no "sorry about that", no communication from her of any kind. Within 10 minutes of returning to my room, another party attempted to gain entrance. I opened the door (much to their surprise!), and they showed me their key card holder, with the same room number as mine, written upon it. To top things off, when I attempted to call the help desk and complain about them completely screwing up my room, there was no dial-tone on the in-room phone. I noticed that the phone cord wasn't plugged-in to the phone, and when I attempted to reconnect it, could not find a cord, at all. The back of the phone didn't have a cord, and neither did the wall outlet. Oh yeah, and I didn't even have a hint of a wi-fi signal, and the accommodations are mediocre at best. A dump and should be torn down. Buffet was of poor quality. The toilet in the room above mine was leaking and toilet water dripped on my head when I got up at 4:30 A.M. Front desk would not give me another room, called maintenance and leak was fixed. By 8 A.M., the leak was again in full force and my bathroom floor was again flooded. One of the blackout window shades was missing and the other sections hanging loose. Outside lights kept the room daylight illuminated all night. read more

I recently stayed at the Wendover Nugget and it was a horrible experience. They messed up our reservation and when we went to check in tried to charge us 3 times as much as we had booked our room for. They had booked the wrong room and the rate on the room we had asked for had gone up by then. They said that rate we had reserved was no longer available and would not give it to us. We thought the mistake could be resolved easily enough and asked to speak to the manager. Manager Brandon MIller was very rude and upcooperative. He couldn't fathom the idea that they had made a mistake and accused us of lying. Even though he verified the rate we said we had reserved was available the day we booked it he said he had no "proof" that we asked for that rate. Any normal person would ask for the best available rate right? I would never call and say please charge me double or better yet triple!! Anyway after going around in circles about getting the rate he told us that was the price and we could take it or go elsewhere!! I couldn't believe that this was someone who was considered a manager! I know a lot about customer service and would never speak to anyone that way. I would have loved to have gone somewhere else but at that point the other casinos were booked up so we were stuck taking it. As far as the stay the beds in the room were not very comfortable and the light in the bathroom was very dim and flickered. There was a hole in the wall in our room. and the steak buffet was not very good. We also went to a restaurant in the casino that had us wait for 45 min for our food and didn't bring one person in our group a plate when they brought the food. After a few minutes they told us they were out of what she had ordered and she needed to pick something else. I just wonder why didn't they realize that when the order was placed 45 min prior? I have been coming to Wendover for 20 years now. It is a fun place to do some gambling and have some drinks, and since Utah is not the most exciting place in the world, it is worth the 120 mile drive here once a month or so. Now, having said that, before you stay in this gross, dilapidated excuse for a hotel, you need to ask yourself what your intentions are for the evening. First of all, if you are a woman, DON'T, just DON'T, and you need not read any further. Second of all, if you are a man bringing your special woman, DON'T, and please don't say that I didn't warn you. She may forgive you with the appropriate passage of time, but she definitely will not forget that you did this to her just to save a few bucks. Do yourself a favor and book a room across the street at the Montego Bay. This hotel is much nicer. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean and modern. The two of you will have an enjoyable evening here. (The casino there is lively and the cocktail service is efficient. Also, the restaurants, including the buffet, are all pretty good. ) If you ignore my advice sir, your chances of any kind of romance will dwindle with every creepy cockroach that sneaks across the hotel room floor. FYI, I trapped a cockroach about the size of my thumb underneath a roll of toilet paper the last time I stayed here as I was on my way to the shower which had zero water flow. Yes, LITERALLY ZERO. As if the cockroach wasn't bad enough, but now I have spent an evening sleeping on a warped bed in a dirty room that would make the Bates Motel look like the Ritz Carlton, and now I can't even take a shower to rid myself of the filth of the room and an evenings worth of gaming in the casino. Oh well, screw it, I'll drive the hour and a half home and shower in a safe place. So, you want to know who this place is suitable for I suppose... I'll tell you. If you are a band of 21 year old frat boys, this may be the place for you. You guys are probably not gonna sleep much, and if your shower doesn't work like mine failed to, you guys can just grab a case of beer (real Nevada beer, not that crappy 3.0 Utah beer) with the money you saved, jump in your car, and drive to the Great Salt Lake, wheeeee!! You can bathe when you get there, these are the kind of unforgettable memories that will bond you boys together for life. You can thank me later. The upside to this room as well is, if you guys go broke in the casino, you can go back to the hotel room and play beer pong with the cockroaches. A couple of you will end up passed out on the floor with them before nights end, so just be sure to establish ahead of time who gets to be big spoon and little spoon. Enjoy! read more

Came over the nugget cafe to get some breakfast with friends and in the past the food has been "ok" but this time the experience was horrible. I ordered a belgian waffle with a side of eggs. Received my food and the eggs were fine not really much to mess up there but when i decided to try my waffle that was whole different thing. First the waffle was sponge texture to it and not crispy at all. Second it wasn't even warm when i decided to bite into to take a bite, so i sent it back and in the mean time i decided to enjoy my two eggs ($2.95). shortly my new belgian waffle was back. once again the waffle wasn't even hot and had the same sponge texture. i asked the waiter if these were made fresh and he said "No" and that they were microwaved. Seriously they couldn't even make their own waffles, they had to use frozen waffles and heated in a microwave and sell them to guests for $6.50 what a joke. called over a manager and said the food was terrible and didn't get what i ordered twice and requested a refund. with a reply of we can take the waffle off and not charge you but we have to charge you for the eggs since you ate them. Great customer service. luckily for me i had enough comp dollars not to pay for it. Brought this up to the pit boss but they just said they would check into it. My other friends ate most of their food but said the hash browns were terrible and mushrooms weren't added to their meal as requested but were charged for. I would have to say this is the worst restaurant in wendover by far. I wouldn't even spend comp dollars with this place. For the same price i could of had a much better meal and experience in any of the other casinos. read more

Guess I should have checked Yelp before getting a room here. Dummy me. No remote for the TV. Called the front desk. They said none of the rooms in the tower have remotes for the 18" little old tube type TV. No WiFI or LAN connection. This place is a dump. Glad I have my slippers. I wouldn't walk across this floor in my socks! When I tried to call the desk to cancel my room for tomorrow night I had to let it ring for maybe five minutes. Granted its Friday night and they probably have lots of check ins. I was lucky to get a room down at the Best Western,,, I think. I haven't seen that one yet, but at least they have remotes in all the rooms. I didn't think you could even find a room with out WIFi these days. I guess if there's no other place you don't have a choice. If you can make Wells, NV to the west, stay at the Wells ChinaTown. read more

DO NOT EAT AT THE BUFFET! What a mistake. My family and I showed up right at 5 o'clock, we were the first customers in the restaurant for dinner. I should have known something was wrong when we walked by the restaurant at 4 o'clock and the food was already out on the line. We paid for our meal then went to the line to get food. The food that we got was cold, imagine that, so we tried the desserts. They must have been from the previous day. They were awful. This is your warning. We tried to discuss this with the manager and she was belligerent. I will never make this mistake again. read more
