There were a lot of Burger Kings in the areas where we visited, so decided to go to the one very close to the hotel that we stayed for our last night. Learnt a few things: prices at our BK in Long Beach is considerably higher than what's here in Connecticut (the higher minimum wage makes a big difference). Through membership to Walmart Plus, I get a free Whopper each quarter of the year, so needed to get my 3rd quarter one before the end of September. You are not allowed to combine it with any other specials (including things like 2 for $6 or 3 for $8), and you have to spend at least $0.01. Instead of getting tacos like I did before, this time I just added onion rings for $0.30 and it worked, with a grand total of $0.33. We picked it up through Drive-thru with no issues, and I enjoyed it back at the hotel. It was quite, hefty with the additional pickles and onion that I had ordered. Was quite satisfied with it, and the Walmart plus membership that provides it. Did learn something else as well about the BK app: I like my Whopper with extra toppings, if possible, but the ability to truly 'Have It Your Way' is limited via the interface. The BK near our home (along with another BK near a Goodwill that we stopped near) does not allow you to choose 'Heavy' or 'Extra' as a choice...it's a simple 'Yes' or 'No'. I always thought this was how it was for all BKs as the app gets updated, a decision made at corporate. But at this BK, the option to add 'Extra' reappeared (with the appropriate surcharge)...so it looks like it is a choice made by each restaurant. I guess some franchisees don't want to deal with complicated orders, though I've never had a problem ordering it this way directly at the register.

Now, I haven't had these fries in a long, long time, I'll be honest I only had a few for the purposes of this review. These fries were pretty terrible, they were incredibly oily, you could taste the grease with each bite. They were also far too salty. My brother claimed they weren't salty enough. To each their own. McDonald's or their fries just aren't for me.
