It's been about 20 years since I last ate at Cracker Barrel (That's actually wilddddddd), and it's just like I remember. I got the Grandma's Pancake Breakfast -crispy edges, soft center, really good. The bacon was cooked perfectly. The eggs were okay, but I like mine more scrambled; these came out in one big clump. I also tried some hash browns from the person next to me, and they were great. Hubby was craving meatloaf - go figure! So off we went, a little later than the normal Saturday dinner rush. After about a ten minute wait, we were seated with drinks and an appetizer ordered. The server was a little distracted, but the meal was paced well. We did have to request silverware and a refill on the drinks. Oh, and that meatloaf that prompted our trip? Sold out! We consoled ourselves with white cheddar bites and searched for other menu options. Hubby's burger was fine; nothing stood out, good or bad. The southern fried chicken must have been very popular because it too was unavailable. Instead I got the fried chicken drizzled with honey. One very generous piece, and three not so much. I've never had it that way, and doubt I ever will again. The chocolate pecan pie served with vanilla ice cream was very good, though. Came at 11:30am They were packed but we only had a 10 min wait and got our food within 10-15 min of ordering. Staff was very accommodating to allergies. The store up front was amazing and had reasonably priced items. Highly recommend! The only thing I didn't like was the green beans. If you don't like ham don't get these. Whenever I take a long road trip, I tend to plan my stops around Cracker Barrel locations. The food is consistently good, the service is usually good as well, you can get breakfast any time of day, and it's not the sort of food to make you need (or HAVE) to stop 30 minutes down the road, if you get my meaning. Note: Many people across the country travel with the same plan, so you may have to wait a while, especially on weekends or at a traditional meal time. I have waited up to an hour for a seat and left when the wait was going to be 90 minutes. That said, I visited the East Windsor Cracker Barrel today for lunch and was not disappointed. Today is a Sunday and I got there just after 2:00 pm. I knew there would be a wait as soon as I saw the parking lot. In fact, the wait was about 35 minutes, which I thought was pretty good considering how full the place was. While I waited, rather than sit out front in the rocking chairs, which many did, I enjoyed a browse of the "country store". I do love the Cracker Barrel stores, as they are loaded with a lot of "local" merchandise. If you are travelling and in need of a gift or souvenir from the local area, I recommend checking out the nearest Cracker Barrel. Back to the food: My server (Nashaeya) came quickly and was very attentive the entire time I was there. She's new (A "rising star" in their ranking system) but certain to attain stars quickly! I didn't hem and haw over what to order as I knew what I wanted (3 pancakes, 3 slices of bacon, bottomless coffee, and 2 complementary melt-in-your-mouth biscuits) before I left home. Everything was prepared as I expected it to be and was hot and delicious. The coffee was, to quote The Merrymen, "Hot, Hot, Hot!" If you are interested in cost, I walked in hungry and left full for just over $20, including the 20% tip. I do think they offer a 15% military discount, but I forgot to ask. A note on the "Ambiance": If you are not familiar with the Cracker Barrel chain, it's definitely a family restaurant and the atmosphere is quaint "old country". The walls are loaded with such things as scythes, golf clubs, old photos, advertisements, old metal product signs, and plenty other items of interest. There is usually a fire in the fireplace and a couple of large checker boards to occupy your time while you wait for your food. Each table also has one of those puzzles with 15 holes and 14 pegs. The goal is to get down to one tee. I apparently suck at that game. I believe I scored a solid "eg-no-ra-moose". read more

Stopped in for lunch and found the restaurant extremely busy. Had to wait about 25 minutes for a table but given the country store being there to investigate the time passed quickly. Seated and we had about 10 minutes to look over the menu before the server arrived to take our order. Server was very pleasant and helpful. One of their big sellers, pot roast, was not available. We ordered the Old Timers breakfast with the baked apples and bacon crispy, also came with grits and gravy and the southern fried chicken with corn and loaded hash brown casserole. Warning Do Not Eat At this establishment. Me and my mother just finished eating at this low quality restaurant. The wait time was 40 minutes but am actually surprised anyone still visits this place. We ordered a table at 1:43pm on Sunday August 24th. We were seated at 2:07pm. He explained they had no peach tea all they had was sweet or unsweetened tea. We ordered sweetened. The tea came out the first one I had tasted like the bottom of the barrel very nasty flavor. The second refill did taste normal. I ordered fried 4 piece Country Chicken with bone, mashed potato's with gravy and okra. My mother ordered Country fried steak, green beans and Mac n cheese. The server comes back to our table about 15 minutes later and stated they had no fried chicken with bone only boneless. They only serve the 4 piece on Saturday and Sunday and had none? So after waiting I ordered the Fried catfish 2 piece option and asked for a loaded sweet potato and the waiter stated they had NO sweet potato! So I ordered okra, turnip greens instead. He brought out the biscuits and no utensils. So we had to ask for utensils as we aren't animals and eat with our mouths on the floor like dogs! So we did get the utensils finally. No cornbread had to ask for that as well! The chicken fried steak was too Salty! Your tongue will need a moisturizer after! My plate came out with carrots! I don't eat carrots in fact they were nasty not even boiled or flavored some canned garbage. Anyway, every other customer was getting the same response oh sorry we didn't have this. I don't want a sorry I want the food you advertise after driving 30 minutes away. The price was $3.79 for each ice tea. $7.58 the food was $17.49 for the chicken fried steak and $17.99 for the fried catfish. The fried catfish was slightly over cooked not moist at all the place is very cheap only one tarter sauce which wasn't enough to choke down the dry fish! Total price $46.22. The manager never visited the tables asking how everything was as I'm sure he was off the day golfing? We would never return to this place. It was so good for so many years but we won't be returning as twice now in a row we have gone and it's been a horrid experience! The store wasn't decorated with fall items they had a mix of the holidays a Christmas and Halloween section etc...should be all fall leaves and of the season. My mom and I had a taste for Cracker Barrel. My mouth was watering for a mini blueberry pancake and their fried catfish. My catfish was fried soft and perfect crunchiness on the outside. My mini blueberry pancakes, were perfect as the blueberries were sweet & tart and the balance just works with their pancake mix. I swear by Cracker Barrel pancakes, they are the best. I was not impressed with their grits. It was very soupy, good grits thick like quick sand. You need it to stick to your gut on a extremely cold day. I do adore all the old time candy. It's very nostalgic. My mom and Iove walking around and checking out all the little trinkets. It's been over two years since COVID, so be patient as service may take a bit longer. This was a lovely breakfast to start a road trip. The parking lot has a lot of space overlooking scenic 91. The server was friendly, space was ample between tables, and the food was classic breakfast with sooooooo maybe options. My eggs were cooked perfectly, and the meat sides were fun. Biscuits are always a crumbly treat. The shop had some lovely Halloween items (as of August). The store just makes you want to redecorate, I find. The in person service is very different from the to go. Highly do not recommend ordering to go from this location. Online order ETA was 8:01. Got the order at 8:24 pm. Drove home about 6 minutes and not only was all of our food items cold but it looked like the bottom of the barrel scraps. Steak fries for two were about 10 pieces of fries. I called at 8:33 when we realized the situation and the phone rang and did not pick up. I hung up and called again. I was directed to the to go department. After telling the location the situation, we were told to wait to find a manager to discuss options. We were put on hold for 15 minutes before deciding to drive back to the location while still on hold. I immediately approached the front and requested to speak to a manager from the to go department. He immediately came out. We informed him that we have been waiting for over 20 minutes and still have our phone on as we drove to the location. He questioned if this is what we received and when verified, he stated that he would personally go back and remake it. The location was not busy at the time of arrival and I don't doubt that it was but carelessness and lack of consideration for the to go customers inconvenience is absolutely ridiculous. I wanted to order an entree, but she told me that it was only available on Friday, so I went to my next choice and that was only available on Thursday. We normally like Cracker Barrel but not on this day! First was our fault. My Wife ordered a side salad. She didn't read that it had bacon in it "She doesn't eat Pork" so that was on us. I went post covid and servers were wearing masks and they spaced out the tables. Not all the patrons were wearing masks though which seems to be the culture in that area. Food is good. Prices are amazing. For less than $10, you get eggs, bacon, homefries, grits, apple, biscuits and gravy. It's standard fare with more than reasonable prices (using NYC prices as reference). I was celebrating an early 25th Bday for my daughter Karen, whose also moving but she & sum of my kids met my brother for the 1st time cuz he & I just met in January on 23&me (dna site). So since I'm an App person cuz I hate long wait times & I love deals, it's smart to always use it if a business has one. So I didn't know Cracker Barrel only accommodates parties of 8 or less. They can't move their tables from one location to another. The girls at the host stand were zero help. The took us to a table of 6 & another one for 4..we wouldn't even be sitting together! They're young & have a lot to learn. So I asked for Jason the manager & he gave us the Round Table ( which I asked for originally). So after 45 minutes & even though I requested 10 people on the app but had to use my account & my husbands to do this..they were gunna make us wait 2 hours..But Jason added a few seats & we all fit & it was great! Went to CB E. Windsor location 2/8/2024 about 1:37 pm. Party of 2. I greeted the server, politely asked for a table by the window. She said no - not available. As she walked us to our table, I noticed all the window-side tables were vacant. We were seated in the far section (3rd section) - 2 or 3 other customers there. The dining room was 10-15% full. We waited for a server for about 10 minutes. Nothing. I peeked thru the wooden screen and noticed our greeter walking two people to a window seat in the 1st section. So we decided to leave. I walked out telling the greeter I noticed she seated people at a table by the window when she told us none were available. Whenever I feel extremely hungry, this is the place to go. Generally I go here after a diet or a long work out session. Their portions are huge and food is cheap. Always the waitress was pleasant. Their entrees comes with corn bread or biscuit (generally they give both even if the menu says or) and the sides. That is a lot of food. Meatloaf is my favorite entree here followed my country fried steak. Chicken fried chicken is also good. Chicken n' dumplins is not that good. If the entrees had a bit more flavor it would have been awesome. Their sides are good as well. Fried Apple, fried okra hash brown casserole are all excellent. Double chocolate fudge coca cola cake is my favorite dessert here. You come out so full, you regret coming here till you salivate and come next time. Food is very cheap here. Even if you eat till you almost die you are just going to pay 10 - 15$. The have a store attached to the restaurant. There is a lot of fun stuff in the store as well. On Sunday, February 18, 2024, I visited the East Windsor, CT  Cracker Barrel location and was subjected to discrimination based on racism . During my visit, my family entered this establishment at approximately 6:28 pm for a table for two. I was told by the concierge that the wait time would be about 30 minutes. After waiting patiently for the duration of time to pass another group of people enter and was given the same time. Afterword, while we were waiting the Caucasian family with the same number party and same allotted time as ours got seated before us. Another family of Europid decent entered and we were  skipped again. Isn't it ironic how melanated people or blacks are experiencing this level of discrimination in an establishment titled Cracker Barrel. How ironic is that? My experience here was distasteful and abominable. This behavior was unacceptable and left me feeling as if my hard working American dollar inadequate and couldn't be spent at this beanery. I request that Cracker Barrel takes the following actions in response to this complaint: - Conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. - Provide a formal written apology for the discriminatory behavior. - Implement diversity and sensitivity training for all employees to prevent future incidents. - Consider compensatory measures to address the harm caused by this incident. Man, this one kills me because this is not my usual experience at this location. I always look forward to eating at Cracker Barrel! It is a certain kind of special during the holidays due to the instant yuletide feeling that comforts you as you walk through the door. This visit was no different. If not for my rumbling stomach, I could have wandered for hours through the menagerie of Christmas goodies and wholesome gift ideas. I put my blinders on, and along with my family, walked directly to the hostess to be seated. I promised myself I would return to shop....which I did. The hostess greeted us promptly (a plus), but it felt more like we were bothering her than the warm welcome that Cracker Barrel staff usually give. We were seated without issue and were given our menus. The atmosphere was cozy and bursting with holiday happiness. The roaring fire welcomed us, warming the half filled room of our fellow Cracker Barrel enthusiasts. My ever present optimism waited patiently for our server to arrive....and waited...and waited....and waited. 14 minutes (not that I was counting, but I was on the verge of crossing my usual "Cindy Lue Who" attitude into full on Grinch mode.) A little advice for servers (from a former server...I waitressed for years, so I get it), if you can't get to a table because you are slammed, a quick acknowledgment goes a long way. A simple "hello" or "I will be with you as soon as I can" would have improved our experience and would have changed this review a bit. And if I'm really going to lay it all out, the corn bread should come before or at the very least, with the meal when you have asked specifically for it. Ugh. On a positive note, I like how you can pay at your table. It is so much easier! All in all, this experience will not deter us from going there again (in fact I went there today to get my traditional Cracker Barrel Christmas shopping done). We went there a couple weeks ago and had quite the disappointing experience for the 2nd time in the past year but this is my first time leaving a review: 1st time happened 8 months ago, waitress complained about being tired, forgot to bring utensils and the list of excuses went on and on. 2nd time happened a couple weeks ago: got seated right away which was good, waitress took her time coming to see us for drinks, took our drink order and then our food order, we never saw her again: we waited for 20-25 minutes or so and then we just left. We even told the cashier about the issue. We will NEVER go back to the dining room, I'm hoping take out wouldn't be a problem, fingers crossed read more

This chain went down hill fast. They had terrible service. The food was gross and a smaller portion than in the past. No corn bread. No refills. When we left semi full plates they did ask why and offered 1 free meal for a different visit. You can keep that free meal. Will never return. read more
