Dog with chili sauce and fried onions
    Jason P.

I recently returned to White Hut for the first time in over 25 years because one of my friends said they were a fan. I was in the area and thought I'd give it a go. White Hut is an Old School burger and dog joint that has been open since 1939. They have inside seating and I dined there. It still has that old time style. Service was fine. If I was evaluating White Hut solely based upon its food quality, I'd have to give it 2 Stars. I ordered (1) a single burger with American Cheese, lettuce, tomato, Mayo and Ketchup; and (2) a hot dog with chili and their "famous"fried onions.. The burger was very thin and didn't seem particularly high quality. If I had to choose between this burger and a Whopper Jr. I would choose the Whopper Jr. When I opened the container in the restaurant, the hot dog was a complete mess. All the chili and onions were on one side of the dog. It didn't taste much better. The fried onions needed more salt for balance. The chili was just OK. The hot dog was at best average in terms of quality and preparation. It had very little snap and unique flavor. The lone bright spot was the grilled hot dog bun. As always with places that have been around for a while, you have to decide how much of a score bump to give for historical purposes. I'm not connected enough to the history of Springfield to know how significant White Hut may be to local residents. But I'll give White Hut a .25 score upgrade based upon the restaurant appearance and history. 2.25 Stars

For a small amount of time this place closed due to unknown reasons however a few local businesses people/restaurateurs got it open

I admit this is more an additional note especially for our hot dog fans out here in Yelp Community & now prior to "answering a call" on a display screen I caught this one with a footling hot dog & decided to try it out & wound up best $7 spent & photo will come & my note for the suggestion box is keep it a full time menu instead of limited time.

Good food, inexpensive, service with a smile. I've wanted to try this little (and I mean little) joint for years. I was already planning a trip a nearby dispensary when I suggested to my wife that we zip over to White Hut for a bite. It has counter service with maybe 3 tables and 6 or so barstools. It's CHEAP in the best way. A chili cheese dog, two cheeseburgs (per the menu) a half and half of fries and o-rings and a fountain soda for under $25. You can't beat that with a stick (as my mom likes to say). I think the burgers beat the dog but that's just me. The patties are small and next time I'd get a double cheeseburg. You can add mayo, mustard (2 kinds), ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and fried or raw onions. I've read some reviews where people said the staff was rude but I did not find that to be my experience. They were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Stopped by on the way to six flags to avoid the amusement park food. The service was fast and the burgers were solid. I especially liked their onion rings. You're able to customize the burger based on a list they have, which makes sure that you have exactly what you want on the burger.

If you like old school burgers this is the place. I got the hamburger with the mixed basket of rings and fries. The burger was delicious, not over cooked. A simple good old fashion burger. The fries were good. The rings had a little too much batter on them for my liking. The basket of fries/rings did have a pool of gease on the bottom which made the bottom fries soggy. I also wanted to get a shake. But unfortunately they said they were not selling ice cream for the rest of the night. Overall, I'll go back for the burger

Not a large place but dine-in seating is available and they have a patio open when the weather is nice

Just over the Memorial Bridge in Springfield, MA sits this iconic little place for burgers, hot dogs, shakes, ice cream and breakfast. I forget when I first discovered it but they've been there over 80 years (since 1939) and it's been one of my favorite spots whenever I'm in the area. With a name like "White Hut" you might think it was similar to White Castle, while the look of the building and the focus on burgers, shakes, hot dogs and fries might make you think of Five Guys - it's neither of those things, it's much better. The menu isn't that large and I think they keep it as good as it is that way. Like many of the other reviews state, the food here is best enjoyed 'simple'. You can add any number of toppings but just a basic, plain hamburger/cheeseburger is delicious on its' own. Though I agree the fried onions are a good starting point if you like fried/sauteed onions. Friendly staff, fast service and great food abound at this small, counter-serve joint. The breakfast is just as good as the burgers though I don't get up there as often as I'd like for that. The basic fried onion hamburger/cheeseburger and the chili dog are two stand-outs on the menu. Great place to stop for a quick meal if you're in the area and you know where to look. Five Stars!

One of Springfield places to go. Love the place. Everyone in the area goes to them for hamburgers and hot dogs. Springfield tradition.

The place is order at the counter or online and there are a few booths and tables. I stopped by Moz after taking a brief stroll through this old mall, which has seen better days. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza ($4 plus tax) and a 12: Chicken Parm Grinder ($14 plus tax) with peppers, onions, & mozzarella cheese. The slice of pizza was reheated in the oven and I ate this here as I waited for my sub. The thin crust cheese pizza slice (1/4 of pie) had a firm crust topped with red sauce and browned cheese on top, which was pretty good. The grinder took a while since after making it, they were using a hot press on the grinder. Once it was bagged and ready to go., I decided to go out to the vehicle to enjoy. However, the grinder roll was hot, but the fillings including the cut pieces of breaded chicken, red sauce, peppers, onions, and cheese were not hot, but warm and cold. I believe they should have oven baked this grinder instead of using a hot press meant for paninis for best results. I decided to wait until I got home to reheat my grinder in the toaster oven, which was pretty decent overall.

The charcoal along the crust was a necessary addition. Buffalo Ranch Chicken was a beautiful sight and was the pizza that got me to try this place. Unfortunately it was not as flavorful as I hoped, the cilantro overly garnished, and neither the Buffalo sauce nor Ranch stood out. Good for looks and photo ops. Pepperoni, while not was a popular choice via through website was may favorite. Pepperoni was crisped along its rounded edges while not too greasy. Making it their own, there was an extra addition of Parmesan cheese which I found enriching. It was a great enhanced spin on the basic pepperoni pizza. Margarita, one of their most popular also didn't wow me but it was good. The tomato sauce was sweet however I wish there was more Mozzarella or just larger slices. It also seemed they added cheese on the entire pizza, having a general cheese flavor throughout the whole slice. Service: Very kind and genuine people. Quick service and the time stamp on my online order was met almost on the dot. Ambiance: This made Moz their own place and somewhere I have never seen before. Of Southeastern Asian ownership, the music and decorating in the shop reflected this. Additionally the style and color of some of the pizza toppings remind me of such flavors. Overall it was a relaxed and welcoming spot.

When I asked how the posted prices could be different than what they were actually charging, the woman stated, "I've told her (presuming "her" was Jo Jo Jo Jo, if there is such a person) that the prices need to be changed/updated." That's ridiculous. Those penned-in prices have been up on that sign for quite some time judging by how faded they were. I've worked in retail my entire life. If we ever incorrectly advertised an in-store price, then we honored the price for that customer who brought it to our attention, apologized and fixed the problem. Cute little shop with a ton of Italian foods of all descriptions. Stood at the deli counter for a little while before one of the three people working behind the counter actually noticed my 6'4" 300 plus pound frame. Even though there was only one other person besides me being helped. I was excited to see that they had homemade salami on the menu so I decided to get a whole grinder. The young lady who was helping me seemed somewhat bothered that she had to wait on me. I ordered my grinder and made a quick change to it BEFORE she started making it and her disappointment was very apparent with her body language. Whatever, it was quite humerus actually. That kind of thing doesn't really bother me. Also picked up some sausage, antipasto salad, etc as well. As far as the grinder goes the homemade salami was delicious and an excellent choice. The grinder roll is massive which is what I think people are so hypnotized with when they mention the Pajers grinders are "huge". Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of meat but its large size is mostly due to the massive roll. Still, it was worth the $18 in my opinion. Cash only, so be aware of that. If you're in the area it's worth stopping by, not too sure I'd drive too far out of the way to stop in there though. Also, be prepared for some potential "spicy" customer service.
