Stopped here to get a quick sandwich before hitting the road. I'm always skeptical of gas-station/fast food restaurant pairings since there is always a lot going on, but I got in and out okay and the food hit the spot at that particular time. So at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday I stopped at this Wendy's to buy 2 Frosty drinks. I was in the drive up and the 4th in line. It took them over 35 minutes to get to the ordering and then 15 minutes for someone to take my order. The thing is once you're in the line of cars you can't get out. I was so annoyed and told the server that 45 minutes was not acceptable. She said she was waiting for staff to arrive. I understand that staffing is an issue these days. However why did the manager send home staff before their replacements arrived. I will not be going back to this Wendy's again. read more

After finally waiting the long wait to pay and get our food the man missed most of our drinks, didn't give us any napkins, and gave us half the straws we needed. "6 Mins on your Spicy" This horrible experience actually began about a week prior to the story you're about to read. My girlfriend and I visited the dining room of this store during my lunch break and could not get past the foul smell of the entire restaurant and sticky floors in the dining room and opted to eat at McDonald's down the road. The best part of this experience was eating somewhere else. 4/27/2019 @ 11:50pm I was leaving town late night and decided to gas up and eat at this Wendy's before hitting 77 South. Its attached to a gas station. Seems convenient. That was a mistake. We sat in the drive thru for 10min before ordering. I even turned my car off to save gas. It's important to note that another car pulled in behind me and I felt somewhat confined to order here at this point. no big deal.. I place my order and pull forward. When I get to the window the employee hands me my lemonade tells me it will be 6 min on my spicy- This is usually code word for "your food is about to be fresh" Yes! After drinking most of my lemonade, I ask for a refill and then recognize the stench from my previous visit. Oh no- this is THAT Wendy's.. The employee says "I don't even know where she got that lemonade from- our machine is empty." The young woman that made my lemonade appears and goes into the dining room for my refill. The dining room had been closed for 2 hours.. Oh No.. After it had been 20 min (waiting for a 6 min chicken sandwich; 40min in total)- we simply ask for a refund. The manager appears and says they have your food coming now sir. In their gibberish, they say my food had been forgotten but yet it was magically ready as soon as I complained.. something's not right. Either this food is rushed and under-cooked OR it is cold from sitting there forgotten about. I don't trust it. I'm not eating it. I gave the food back and Pleaded for my refund.. The manager (Leslie) shorts me $2 and tries to explain why. I had not eaten any of the food we were given. Maybe her justification was because i was drinking old lemonade.. although I'm sure she was too incompetent to come to that conclusion. I will never eat at this store again and strongly advise for no one else to either- AT LEAST until it is visited by a health inspector and a new staff is hired. Wendy's food, when prepared correctly is pretty good- considering it is fast food. I know that the employees don't care about the condition of the store or the guest's experience. Ordered three 4 for $4's. 1 sandwich was to be plain, the other one was special and the last sandwich should've been made regularly. Instead of following directions they made every sandwich PLAIN. Fries were cold and not filled properly. Nuggets were cold and hard. Asked for honey mustard for all of the nuggets instead we received BBQ. What a waste of $15. With Moes opening up with a drive through option directly behind them I expect their business to decline dramatically. read more

Took 10 mins just for someone to take our order. After that, food was ready quick but it was hardly warm and tasted old. Additionally, one of the ice machines was broken and the ketchup dispenser didn't even have a bag in it. Oh, and the bathroom was disgusting and outdated with a dysfunctional sink and a roll of paper towels sitting on the counter. I can't imagine how unsanitary the kitchen must be. This Wendy's deserves negative stars. The workers are unprofessional and hide out purposely to avoid helping their customers. I placed an online order and went to pick up my order around 7pm and there was nobody to be found. The door was locked and I had to loop around multiple times through drive-thru to see if anybody was alive with my order and after 10-15 minutes, I knocked on the door and a person finally emerged. She looked like she just woke up. Our nuggets and fries tasted old and our order wasn't fully completed; they missed an order of fries. Also, I ordered Chili and all the worker said was, "We're out of chili." Didn't offer any other options for us so I asked for a refund and she said, "oh you'll have to ask the GM for that." For a refund for some Chili!? It was 7pm! How are you out of chili? You guys open til 2am! So since I couldn't get a refund, I had to ask for her for something else; so I just took a baked potato. She never even offered me any other options l; I had to initiate it. Whomever owns the is Wendy's, I hope you guys look into your workers and management. This place is a wreck and not a good look for Wendy's as a brand. 100% these workers here and purposely hiding out and sleeping! This isn't the first time this has happened. read more

I wanted to compliment the young lady who was by herself trying to run the restaurant today. I went through the drive thru to order and it took awhile but most places do now because of the lack of staff. We ordered and then I saw this young lady come out and talk to the customers in line. When I got to her she informed me in a polite manner that she has a bus of 90 people that came in, an order of $100, and another large order that got placed as well as all the people in the drive thru and that she was the only one that was there so we could wait or we were welcome to leave if we wanted to (again in a polite manner). I told her I could go somewhere else just so I didn't put even more work on her. I felt she handled a very stressful situation in a professional manner and let the customers make an informed decision. I hope that restaurant management could do better with making sure there's at least 2 people staffed so that doesn't happen again. read more

We had a bad experience here about 3 years ago. Today we decided to try it again and hope for improvement. Well we were disappointed again. The food was sloppy and the service was awful. The woman at the window which looked like a manager was rude and we waited 5 min for our 2 combo order. 5 minutes for food that was too messy to eat driving. I think the only reason this place is still in business is because it's right outside of Carowinds. When you are competing with $15 hamburgers, it doesn't matter if your dining room isn't clean, the food isn't fresh, the lines take 20 to 30 minutes, the cashiers are easily confused and seem to get 70% of the orders wrong. It wasn't much less expensive. My stale burger was $7.00. Try Culvers, across the street. Less expensive than Carowinds and much better that Carowinds or Wendys. read more

I just happened to go to the Shell gas station and my son said he wanted wendy's to eat. Now we dont normally eat out often but today I said ok. We got the gas, walked in wendys and instantly I saw how filthy the restaurant was. Then I walked in further towards the cash register and there was this aweful smell. After a long day at work I was tired, so I stopped for chicken nuggets and fries for my grandson and a plain chicken sandwich for me. DoorDash sends me to this location too too many times so I have had the chance to observe them operating over many visits. If you go here, do not be hungry, bring your patience, and don't be too picky about what eventually ends up in your bag. After watching them talk past each other and chase their tails for 20 minutes, you, too, may want to jump across the counter and help sort out their issues. Everyone continually looks at the order board and opens bags, but no food seems to come out of production and in to the bags. Maybe they are sending someone to the next nearest Wendy's to get the food and bring it back. One item at a time. When someone does get their order, they have to come back to the counter a few minutes later for what they are missing and get in line with the people who have come inside after getting their drive through order wrong. When a bag does get completed- you had better have been paying attention. If you did not see what went in it and know that it was yours, it may sit there for another fifteen minutes before anyone thinks to offer it to the waiting customers. Before you leave with something to eat you will have had plenty of time to learn what the other customers around you ordered, that they are missing, what they are waiting for, but likely still have no clue why all the employees are moving but food only rarely comes across the counter. read more

This Wendy's was the worst I've ever been to. We ordered 3 of the 4 for $4 and they spent 30-40 minutes making it. Then other customers were opening and touching our food and it was just gross. The oil that they use for the fries was never changed and was so old. The chicken nuggets were cold and the cheese was old. The bathrooms were a complete mess to. We went to get a refund and they charged us twice. This place is awful. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! Employee taking order at drive through seemed very confused and like he had no clue what he was doing, we kept having to repeat and tell him again and again so immediately after we were concerned that our order would be screwed up. Took us a little bit to get our food and and seemed like unorganized chaos inside. Frosty machine down except vanilla. When he FINALLY handed us our drinks (4 drinks + 1 of the 2 frosty's) we asked for a drink carrier so he went to get that and then put the drinks in and because of the careless attitude and chaos he knocked the HUGE tea over and it busted all along the side of our car!!!! Sticky mess EVERYWHERE and all he said was something about "spilling that shit" loud enough for my two small children in the back to hear. Meanwhile he also is walking around with "backwoods" (marijuana rolling papers) in his back pocket that obviously could be seen bc we seen them! Also we had to ask for our 2nd frosty (he had only handed us 1 of the 2 we ordered) and he he went over to another employee and said "she got a small frosty" with his sassy attitude like we were lying or something. EXTREMELY unprofessional and TERRIBLE customer service! It is a shame because leaving carowinds this would be a nice place to stop but not worth it!!!! This is probably the worst Wendy's experience I have ever had. I don't generally expect a lot from fast food restaurants, but this was horrible. The place was trashed and almost every table was dirty. We got in line to order food. We ordered a kids meal and 2 sandwiches. It took over 20 MINUTES to get our food - 12:17 was the time stamp on our receipt and we got our food at 12:39. The workers were very unprofessional and slow. Also they had 3 employees standing at the cash registers while only one person was ordering, yet the back seemed understaffed since there were about 10 people standing waiting for food. The restaurant was busy so I understand having a wait time, but I should never have to wait 20+ minutes for FAST FOOD. It would also be nice if they could clean their tables every once in a while. This is the second time that they forgot something food wise that I paid for. Today was my Cesar salad and sauces and straws . I was too busy to check the bag which I shouldn't have to anyways. The other time they forgot my large order of chicken nuggets. And when I do actually check they make me feel bad or stupid if I have to ask for straws or sauces that they forgot to put in the bag. I needed to make a quick stop to pick up lunch before continuing to work. I settled on a large chili from Wendy's on Carowinds Blvd. I walked into an empty store around 3:00 pm on 10/2/19, and found one of the rudest "customer service" persons I have ever encountered. I said, "Hello." Crickets. No greeting from her. She said, "Here or to-go?" I gave her my order, she gave me the price, and those are the last words she spoke to me. However, she did have several dirty looks for me that she was more than willing to serve up throughout this encounter. Her attitude was terrible, but the service was even worse. First of all, there wasn't any chili up front. The person had to walk to somewhere in the back fill the cup. She walked soooooooo slowly. Maybe because she is so huge, maybe because she has a bad attitude, maybe both. When she got back, she couldn't find any lids for the cup. So, she makes another long, slow trek to the back to get lids. When she returned, she put the chili in a bag, threw some crackers in, and handed it to me. I asked for sour cream and chili oil. Boy the stank look I got! LOL!!!!!!!! She slowly retrieves one pack of sour cream (for a large chili) and dropped it in the bag. Then, guess what? Supposedly she couldn't find any chili oil up front, and made yet another long, slow trip to the back. She got back with an unopened box. Then she whips out one very dangerous-looking box cutter to open the box. No way am I allowed to bring something like that into the workplace. Finally, I had everything and left. When I arrived at work, I promptly threw the entire order into the garbage can. No way was I going to eat anything handled by a person like that! read more

This Wendy's has terrible service. It is slow, and the employees are rude. When the cashier handed me a bag & I let her know I was missing part of my order she said, "I know!" with an attitude. I told her that I was just letting her know. When my second item was finally ready, she didn't say anything when handing me the bag. I said, "you're welcome" since she should have said thank you. She replied with another rude, "I know." I was in the drive thru for a total of 11 minutes - waiting for someone to acknowledge me to take my order, and then waiting for my order to be completed. When I attempted to complain about the service, the cashier shut the window while I was talking. I've worked in customer service for over two years, and I would be fired if I behaved that way with a customer. Ridiculous. read more

I had the worst experience at the Wendy's on Carowinds Blvd. I sat at the drive thru window for 10 minutes or more and watched 3 female employees repeatedly walk pass the window, without as much as saying a single word. Finally one of the ladies came to the window, did not greet me or apologize for the wait, and proceeded to tell me my total. At this point I still did not receive my drink. I paid her and thanked her for my change. I waited almost another 5-7 minutes before a different employee came to the window with my bagged food, handed me the food and did not confirm the order. She stated "have a nice night and sorry for the wait". She then walked away from the window. I still did not receive my drink. I then went inside and saw there were no customers in line and 2 customers nearly finished with their meals in the dining area. I explained to the employee who appeared to have a manager shirt on that I did not receive my drink and would like my money to be returned. I handed her the food which she passed to the lady who took my payment and told her I asked for my money back. They then mumbled some words behind the wall that separates the drive thru area from the lobby counter. I took my money and left. I immediately called corporate and after waiting on hold for 12 minutes, spoke to an representative and explained what I experienced. I will never return to this establishment!!! This Wendy's was the absolute WORST service I have ever received from a Wendy's before. Me and my friends family went here after spending all day at carowinds so we were all already tired and ready to get home which is why we chose somewhere "quick." Well no, we came in and the line wasn't to long but it took us about 30 minutes just to get our order taken. After we get to the counter to order the lady working the cash register was very rude to us. After we order we sit down and wait 30-40 more minutes to get our food. One girl who worked there quit her job and was storming out of the restaurant cussing and yelling. Finally someone tells us they have no potato's left (which 2 people from our group had ordered, AND had already been paid for. ) the girl who told us this was very rude and said "there's nothing we can do about it." So we ask for a refund because none of our food came out and they were out of food that we already paid for. This Wendy's is right outside of an amusement park that has thousands of people everyday who will get hungry, this Wendy's needs to better prep there food and get under new management. I visited this Wendy's on Mar 29, 2017 at about 10p. I ordered my food and as i was told to pull around to pay for my order, I was sitting in drive thru while my food was already bagged and sitting in the window the cashier (Jessica) continue taking orders and making drinks and i asked this young lady who was pregnant can i please pay for my food and that it was sitting there getting cold and Jessica stated to me, that is the way they take orders and as she continued going back and forth with me, i asked for a manager and she SLAM the window in my face and as she walked away i could hear Jessica screaming for the "manager to come up front and talk to this lady." That was a horrible experience for me, and when the manager "Devin" came to speak with me, at the drive thru window, he also stated to me that the cashiers are to take as many orders as possible before giving the customer their food, and Devin stated that is the way they've always did it, and at that point i was exhausted with both of them they where very UNPROFESSIONAL.....I will NEVER go to this location again and i will be sure to tell all my soical media family/friends....Thanks for nothing.. read more
