Panchito's Mexican Grill is the kind of place that I love to find when traveling.  We have been here before (thanks to Yelp!) and you know its legit when you get there.  It's hidden in the back of the Clarion hotel in Fort Mill.    It was my son's birthday; we were enjoying the park (Carowinds) but wanted to get out and grab a real meal.  The portions are very generous, and the drinks are large!  You can split dishes here and try many different foods.  You really cannot go wrong with any dish, the service was fast and on point, especially with the waters and salsa.   For an Extra $5 they did a whole birthday celebration with hat for my son and that made the night complete, everyone left full and don't ask me how we rode the Fury After that, but we did!  If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant stop by Panchito's! read more

Decided to stop here after our extremely long flight. First off was extremely hard to fine. Terrible directions due to poor signs. Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. All we were told is "I'll tell the kitchen" no offer for a remake or even an apology. My parents have eaten at this establishment before and praised it. They even said this would be there last time. Food was very subpar and the vibe very off. The service was good and our server was very attentive. She tried to make it right, but at this point we were ready to go. The FIRST thing you need to know is this place is located INSIDE the Clarion Hotel. When you see the sign for 'Foot Hills Parkway' turn left to go behind the hotel, it has a separate entrance. I sat at the bar and received exceptional service from Jackie. It was a slow evening but she was acting as seating hostess, waitress and bartender and doing a great job at all of them. They offer you chips and salsa complimentary. They were not hot, a little soft and not too good. The salsa options were mild, hot and hot verde. again not that good. I ordered the Fajitas mixes, you get steak, chicken and shrimp and WAY too many onions and bell peppers. No one took the time to remove the tail from the shrimp. You get 4 tortillas, they were small and barely warm. Overall the flavor was just OK. I doubt I return as there a way too many better options that are closer to mi Casa. read more

Panchitos is a hidden gem tucked away in the shadow of Carowinds. Charlotte has a ton of Mexican food, some are authentic and some more Taco Bell, and Taco Bell adjacent. This however is very legit, more akin to what you would get going down South Blvd by "Marias" and "Tres Pesos" on Woodlawn. The staff is always very nice and welcoming, while I haven't seen them under pressure with too many patrons at once. I can say that they are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Speaking of the menu, there is a wide variety of traditional Mexican fare...with a lunch menu and decent dinner prices to match. I personally try to get something new every time, from quesadillas to burritos I haven't been disappointed. This time around I ordered the Pollo con crema, the chicken was fresh and tender while the peppers and onions gave it a flavorful kick it offset the thick creamy cheese. I can't forget the chips and salsa, yes the free chips and salsa you get when you sit down. If you don't get free chips and salsa at any Mexican restaurant, it's a red flag and if they aren't good...RUN! Was looking for a new place to try for taco Tuesday and saw this place had good reviews so decided to give them a try. I'm glad I read that they were located in a hotel or I wouldn't have been able to locate them as the signage is small and low to the ground so you literally have to be right up in it to even see it. When I walked in they place was nearly empty with the exception of the bar area. I skimmed the menu and decided to go with the flautas and their margarita which was on special for $8. The food didn't take long to come out. It was out after 10 mins of me ordering. When the food arrived the flautas appeared overcooked and the rice was dry and clumpy. I wanted to give it a chance so I bit into the flauta and the beef had a weird taste so I sent it back and decided to order something else. I ended up with ordering the Tacos Panchitos, one barbacoa & one chicken. I don't know why I insist on ordering chicken as my protein at Mexican restaurants b/c it's always bland, but the barbacoa was good. Excellent service from Jackie. read more

They are hidden behind the starbucks and jimmy johns on carowinds blvd. Located on the ground floor of a hotel, Panchito's may appear unseemly. Like your mama may have always taught you though, it's what's on the inside that counts. Having dined here a couple dozen times, I've never left disappointed. To begin, you are greeted with chips and 3 different kinds of salsa (one mild, one with a little kick, and a green one that is spicy and unique - ALL taste freshly made and delicious). Add one of their delightful margaritas and you're off to a great beginning. The Botana Cora shrimp appetizer is outstanding and highly recommended if you like shrimp and flavorful heat. Our visit to Panchito's was average. We stopped by here because we had gone to Carowinds for the day and Panchito's was one of the closest restaurants. The best part was the homemade juice; we tried mango and pineapple, which were both delicious. I ordered the vegetarian quesadilla and it had so much oil that it was dripping when I picked it up. The oil was soaking through the wrap. I used a paper towel to soak some of it up. My husband got the steak tacos and said they were okay, but he also didn't feel too well on the drive home. This place is tucked away in a hotel's back side. Don't be fooled by its low key and dull exterior. We were seated 2 minutes of reaching there. Once seated they provided their famous house chips and 3 salsa. Their salsas are one of the best salsas I have tried around here. Our food came within 22 minutes of ordering. They forgot to properly make one of the dish and our server was quick to apologize (very rare to get this nowadays) and fixed it. Food was really good tasting. 1) order the guacamole!!!! The server prepares it fresh per order. It was wonderful. The avocado was super creamy, and just the right amount of lime and salt. 2) the birria quesadilla were delicious. It's two corn taco shells with lots of meet inside. The beef juice was very nice. I would definitely recommend and would order again 3) the chicken burrito was plain. It seemed that all that was in it was chicken, tomato and lettuce. I don't think I'd order this again based on all the other things in the menu 4) the Al pastor taco was great. The meat was very flavorful. I wish they added pineapple pieces but I'd definitely order again 5) the chips and salsa that were complimentary were super flavorful. The green salsa was delicious and just the right level of spicy 6) the only thing from our order that we didn't like was the flan. They added chocolate syrup and whipped cream. I'm used to a plain flan with just the caramel sauce. It felt like I was having a sundae and don't think I'd order again.
