I placed a online order, but they claimed they have no record of it. Poor customer service!

    Loaded Nacho Burger

Went to try the new Loaded Nacho Burger and Queso Fries. Wait time wasn't too bad, but I got lucky since I was the only person at 9pm. Anyways the burger was good! Crunchy and flavorful also spicy but not overwhelming. The queso fries were nothing special. Tasted like artificial queso from a jar. Probably would've been better if they used the Pub cheese sauce like they used to have.

The lemonade that I did not order with pulp in it.

The review I posted on the 23rd disappeared, so this is a rewrite of that review…read more My granddaughter got the regular beef burger (can't remember the name of that one) and I got the Wagyu burger as usual. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. The food, of course, was good, served hot and as ordered. No complaints. Our server, Amy was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and patient (we asked a lot of questions). She was also very friendly, genuinely friendly, not forced friendly because she had to be. You can always tell. It felt like being at an old friend's house for dinner. Great service truly (imo) enhances the meal. I'd definitely want Amy for our server the next time we visit!

They aim to make a memorable experience with clever marketing, current food trends, and very customizable items. This location is even cooler as it pays homage to the once Blue Spruce Motel that was demolished for the current shopping mall. The wall has a cool graphic with the callout and the fits perfectly into the decor. Only downfall is the online ordering pickup. I get it... every restaurant wants to find a way to minimally impact their employees with fulfilling orders for takeout. But sending customers to the bar and forcing them to flag down the bartender... it's just not right. Designate a counter spot, add signage, or bring the bags to the front desk... For a company up on everything, this location should reconsider how they serve takeout orders. Still the food was phenomenal... We split a Sonoma Chopped Chicken Salad. Burgatory salads are HUGE! And the ingredients are always super fresh... I mean look at how perfect the avocado is! We tried the wings and... wow! The skin was so perfectly crisp and the seasoning was just spot on with spice and flavor. We tried the onion rings... and well... you can't win them all. The batter was soggy and way too thick. Not sure even the perfect cook could've crisped and fully cooked the batter. We won't be doing these again.

The meats are smoked daily with a blend of hickory, cherry, and apple woods. Dining in, carry-out, delivery, and catering are available. So far, my husband and I have eaten three lunches from Big Rigs BBQ--two for dining in and one as a $250 takeout for family. We have tried most of the menu items and really enjoyed all of them. I have not yet tried every BBQ restaurant in the Pittsburgh region, but so far, Big Rig's BBQ is our favorite. For meats, we ate the brisket (5 stars, very tender and flavorful), baby-back ribs (5 stars, fall-off-the-bone and tasty), pulled-pork shoulder (4.5 stars, nicely smoked and goes well with the many sauces), original kielbasa (4.5 stars), cheddar-jalapeno kielbasa (4.5 stars), pineapple kielbasa (5 stars, an explosion of unique, delicious flavors), pork-belly burnt ends (4.5 stars, tender with a very flavorful sauce), turkey (4.5 stars, juicy and flavorful), and smoked turkey-club sandwich (5 stars, my husband loves its cheddar, bacon, lettuce, and dijonaise). For sides, we ate the mac and cheese (4 stars, American, cheddar, and pepper jack), potato salad (4.5 stars, with bacon, scallions, cheddar cheese, bell peppers, and mustard), cornbread (5 stars, with cheddar cheese and BBQ honey butter), BBQ baked beans (5 stars, very flavorful ingredients), and brussels sprouts (5 stars, tasty sauce). This BBQ restaurant also serves some salads. I ate a BBQ salad (5 stars) with my choice of protein, Nashville Chicken Breast. This salad might be the most loaded-up that I have ever eaten. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes as well as generous amounts of chicken, bacon, cornbread croutons that look ~2" in diameter, cheese, onions, and cranberries.

Three stars only because they forgot to give us our fries, until we went back to ask for it. They also missed adding avocado on my bowl. The one thing I wish is that they had a salad size between the kids portion and the regular. Because the kids isn't quite enough and the adult always seems to be too much. I love that you can add basically unlimited toppings when you create your own salad. The only limitations are proteins and cheese. I've made some strange combinations, but they ended up being delicious. I also love that they mix the salad together for you (if you want that) so your dressing is nice and spread out throughout the entire salad. Their burgers are also delicious. They have some that are ready-made creations or you can build your own as well. the one downside is that it seems whenever you order a burger or fries it takes forever. Even when I've ordered online in advance the items from the back seem to take quite a bit of time. They are worth the wait, though!

We happen to be in the area so after about three years of avoiding them, I said why not give them another try. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was exceptional. It had a pleasant ambiance you could actually have a great conversation without excessive noise. I ordered the fish dinner and did they ever redeem themselves. It was no longer like Mrs. Paul's frozen fish, two very nice meaty breaded filet served with French fries that were hot and crispy cooked just right. Great snap when you crunched them. The breading on the fish was not overpowering and the fish itself was large and robust with the flavor of fresh caught cod. I was very impressed. Our waitress Caleigh who was wonderful. She was very attentive and checked on us regularly. I think Max & Erma's finally got it right. I certainly give them a standing ovation on this one.

Max & Erma's went from a quaint downtown restaurant to a decent regional chain with pretty reasonable prices. This location was convenient for a bunch of people coming from different directions. They make a great Long Island Iced Tea (not as good as Carl's Tavern, but who does?) and also has some pretty good food. We got some of their fried pickles as an appetizer and wow, they were really good. They could have been bigger pieces of pickle, but they were crispy and not soggy at all. I ordered the Pittsburgh Salad with Grilled Chicken and ranch dressing and it was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, the service was good and the final bill for all of us didn't break the bank. I'd go back!
