    Chicken hibachi with fried rice
    Angie I.

We just happened to be in the mood for sushi and found this little place in Monroeville! We ordered the gyoza, which was so full of flavor and crispy served with sweet chili sauce, shrimp tempura sushi, and we each had the chicken hibachi lunch special which was in my opinion the best I've had in a long time. We thought it would be a smaller portion for lunch but was pleasantly pleased to find out quite the opposite. Service was friendly and prompt and the dining room had lots of tables and comfortable booths. When we're in the area again we will definitely stop by!

Love this place! Good service, great food and vibe. The menu is lengthy, but everything sounded worth trying. The hibachi combo is a hefty portion, so plenty of leftovers from the meal. The green mountain roll was superb, so I will be returning to try their other special rolls. Definitely recommend trying this place!

Perfect quiet sushi spot to retreat to after a long day! Never disappoints me nor my husband. The waitress was very polite and served us splendidly!

We stopped by on Friday night around 6pm and to our surprise there was a short line out the door even though they opened about a week ago. The inside consists of multiple tables and booths and I saw them accommodate parties of 2-8. They also did a fair amount of takeout. The food is an Asian fusion of dishes with steak, sushi, noodles, rice, hibachi, and many other options. While not necessarily the most authentic, it really hit the spot for us and everything we had was good for what it was and the prices were reasonable for the portions. The staff we interacted with were all wonderful. They were super busy but took time to answer questions and check in on us, even the servers who weren't assigned to our table.

Our first time at Koi was fabulous! The atmosphere was clean and new. The food was spectacular!!! The service was friendly and the showmanship was excellent. We can't wait to go back and have more sushi and crab rangoons!

Fantastic food and super friendly staff. The presentation of the food is great, the place is clean. I love that they have a kids menu and even have chicken nuggets for picky eaters. I'll absolutely be going back!

Excellent food. Restaurant is very nice and I would liked to have stayed there but I was getting take out. Best scallops I ever had. Veggies were cooked well and still crisp.

Koi Steakhouse and Sushi is a newer place in Eastern Pittsburgh. I was honestly between 4 and 5 stars. I will start with the reasons for a 5 star review. The food was really good. This especially goes for the Sushi. We shared Yum-Yum, Shaggy Dog, and California Rolls. They are big and really tasty. The service was also excellent. We were there celebrating birthdays and the song and instruments were great. The reasons for not giving a five star review. The hibachi is not table side. No show, no fire, no volcano of onions, no catching shrimp in the servers hat. The hibachi does include several different options though. We had Yellowfin tuna. It is also small and loud. In the end, this is a really good, new restaurant in the area. The menu is extensive with lots of options to try. I will be back.

Me and my 4 buddies stopped here for the first time after going to SteelCon. We weren't sure how to feel since it was around 3pm and the place was empty. We walk in and this place was spotless. The atmosphere is great and all the employees were so kind. Rafiki was our server, and he was very helpful with the menu, offering recommendations with prompt service. All of us had great meals with huge portions. I got a Sushi Bowl and the Green Tea Matcha Boba. Overall I would give this place a 10/10. Fresh fish, amazing presentation, spotless dining, and personable staff. Give my guy Rafiki the raise he deserves!

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

My wedding soup and my husband's French onion soup were delicious. The wedding soup was loaded with meatballs and chicken. My husband has a thing for French onion soup and tries it every chance he gets. He said this may have been the best ever. We split a Reuben sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The waitress brought us each a half portion so we didn't have to divide it ourselves, which was nice. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, making it acceptable, not great but good enough. Onion rings were very good. Dessert sounded tempting, a cherry crème brûlée. It was okay, kind of like cherry jello with a sugar crust on top. A bit disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was on top of filling the water glasses and was very nice. Now for the bad news and why I'm only giving 3 stars. I went to the ladies room before eating and there was no hot water to wash my hands. I asked my husband if the men's room had hot water and he said no. We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!

Got a Pinot noir wine and waters Starter=soup of the day: tomato w/ chickpea and chorizo- bold tomato flavor and lots of arugula in it. Not so much chorio but flavor was very good, not overly salty. 10/10 After the soup we put our nit-picking goggles on as we knew this was a pretty sophisticated meal. Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3. This was really the first time I've seen this at a restaurant, yet alone at a decent place like one. Would have been best for them to tell us this upfront.

I loved everything about my various experiences here. Service has always been incredible. I've been seated in the bar area and the main restaurant, been there as a date night, on my own and with friends and the service was the same - consistent, attentive and overall wonderful. The real star, though, is the food. Everything I've ever had here was incredibly delicious. I really like that they have a bar bites menu and a regular dinner menu. The bar food is far from typical bar food. They are packed with flavor and upscale. The entrees - you really can't go wrong with any of them. My favorite entree was the swordfish. The feta and pepper cream were just the perfect proportion to the fish. A real standout is the sides. It should be noted that most entrees don't have a traditional side - you need to order them separately. But they are absolutely worth it. I'd go back and order a meal of the sides I liked them that much. Overall, an amazing place for a special date night or just a nice quiet meal. I highly recommend it!

Circling the small parking lot looking for your spot, reminiscing on the alumni sports team photos on the walls, and doing the twist in the entryway to navigate your way to your takeout, Gateway Grill is not much... but the food is usually fire!!! The pizza slices have big bubbling crusts with pepperoni so rustic cut that you will wonder if they accidentally gave you the whole piece... over and over again. Don't sleep on their meatball pizza. Because you will have basically full size meatballs for every slice... and they are delightful. We had family in and bought a large order - and we opted to try their sandwiches. The Chuck Roast sandwich and Turkey Rachel both sounded delicious... and Gateway Grill does have fresh smoked meats too! Takeout is a trip. In a full restaurant, you have to kinda stand in the way at the front counter and flag down someone to grab your order. But they definitely do a lot of to-go pizzas so you'll be able to handle it. Unfortunately, with their current to-go containers, the sandwiches ended up being sopping wet with condensation... the bottom toasted bread on both was basically dripping instead of crunchy. The fries had lost all texture too- air fryer to the rescue. I'd still recommend going - just stick to only pizza when ordering takeout until they find a way to ensure quality of other options.
