The food was really quite yummy. I was impressed by the number of different types of grains that were in my fiesta grain and green bowl. Three stars only because they forgot to give us our fries, until we went back to ask for it. They also missed adding avocado on my bowl. For something seemingly simple to assemble, it took a while for our food to be ready. When we came, there were only a handful of customers. I did like that they have outdoor seating option. I think it is because I'm a sucker for "bowl" meals, including salads, but I absolutely love Hello Bistro. The one thing I wish is that they had a salad size between the kids portion and the regular. Because the kids isn't quite enough and the adult always seems to be too much. I love that you can add basically unlimited toppings when you create your own salad. The only limitations are proteins and cheese. I've made some strange combinations, but they ended up being delicious. I also love that they mix the salad together for you (if you want that) so your dressing is nice and spread out throughout the entire salad. Their burgers are also delicious. They have some that are ready-made creations or you can build your own as well. the one downside is that it seems whenever you order a burger or fries it takes forever. Walking into this place the garbage was overflowing the floor was filthy and garbage all over it sticky. No ice in the ice machine pop taste like carbonated water. No condiments no napkins. I've eaten inside here once and I've also gotten takeout before. Overall, the salads are good and so are the fries. However, this place definitely lacks quality customer service. When I ate inside, it was extremely slow. Usually, that doesn't bother me though, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't willingly wander over to the Monroeville area. But every now and again I find myself here during the lunch rush and Hello Bistro is a favorite of my wife's. I usually force myself towards a salad despite preferring a burger and fries on most days. Their method of finely chopping their ingredients can make it a little difficult to eat at times. I've been here before and the food is great but unfortunately had a very bad experience last night. Handsome husband and I ordered two salads, fries and a burger and sat down at a table to wait for our food. They brought out my salad in a reasonable amount of time. We waited for the rest of our order and noticed many people in line behind who got their food before us. (It's like Subway or Chipotle where you watch them assemble your food.) We thought it might be because burgers would take longer than salads to make, but we saw people with burger orders getting theirs before us. We asked about 20 minutes in what the status of the order was and they said they were just waiting on the salad. Then another server came over with the wrong salad two different times. I could go on with the comedy of errors, but long story short: We finally got our food 35 minutes after ordering and the server apologized but it was obvious by her attitude that she didn't care at all. We asked to speak with a manager. Fortunately he refunded the meal. My husband vowed to never set foot there again and I don't blame him. You can order a salad off the menu or a build-your-own for an amount between 8.25 and 10 dollars or so. There are quite a few ingredients and toppings to select. You can add protein or not which affects your end price. You also select how finely you would like your salad chopped. This concept reminds me of Chop now reincarnated as Terrene in Station Square which has a slight edge being they seem to have a better handle on proportions of ingredients to greens. Hello Bistro salad ends up being a bit too overwhelming with greenery in relationship to other ingredients. All in all, a great option for healthier dining choices. read more

We visited HB yesterday for lunch and had a positive experience. I thought the restaurant had a fun vibe and was clean and inviting. I ordered a burger with Avocado (can't remember the name) Fries and a fountain drink. they have Boylan soda. I loved the cherry! The kids got burger kids meals that included fries, soda and a mini smiley cookie. (for $5) We also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup. - it was warm (I would have preferred it a little hotter) my 12 year old loved the noodles and ate the whole cup by himself! I enjoyed my burger which reminded me of an Eat N Park burger. It wasn't overly flavorful, so I would probably try a different burger next time. I did not notice any loud music that someone mentioned in a previous review. It was lunch on a Saturday but didn't feel annoyingly noisy or busy. They seats are placed pretty far apart so our table felt private. We all enjoyed our fries. They were hot and fresh and in a little brown bag, and I thought were well seasoned. Monroeville location recently opened. Wow! Super nice and clean. I have been to other locations and I was impressed with this location. I typically get a salad listed on the menu and I did not veer away this trip. I got the shrimp salad. So good and perfectly made. Love the lime dressing. I also love that you can purchase the tiny smiley cookies. Staff were quick. You still hold a number if you order to go and they bring it to you. To balance out the healthy, I ordered a side of fries with their AMAZING ranch for dipping and it was just enough of an indulgence to leave us feeling satisfied. We also ordered the grilled cheese sandwich for my son and he ate every last bite. I love being able to customize my salad, especially now that salad bars may be a thing of the past. My wife got the Buffalo Chicken Salad. Also very good! Service: The staff was nice but the wait on our food was very long. We were eating with family so we had a larger order than perhaps some of the others that purchased before or after us. Stopped in and got the bistro burger, I was confused at first when I had to pick between 2 patties and 3. They are very thin and sort of draped over each other. I paid the extra 2.00 for a gluten free bun, and wow, it was absolutely terrible. Gluten-free free has come so far, to feature a bun that literally disintegrates in your hand, is ridiculous. Went there yesterday evening to eat after a doctors appt. The girl that waited on us was very rude and a smart ass. My wife is allergic to spinach so my wife asked if they could get her lettuce from the back and use a clean pair of tongs and she acted like it was the end of the world and we were giving her a hard time. Here's the deal: if salads are your thing, freshness should be number one. Not the case here. THE AMBIANCE While the spot is nice looking and open, it was super cold and every table I went to sit at needed cleaned. THE FOOD On paper, the menu looks like a great variety for many kinds of eaters. But looking behind the glass bar, many of the salad topping options weren't looking too fresh. Yikes. The apples were brown and the spinach wilted and dark green in clumps, for example. There was a prepackaged salad spilled all inside one the cases, just left there. Not even visually pleasing, this place. I might be weird, but I don't like cold meat on my salad (chicken, especially), so I got a turkey burger and a side salad. A turkey burger is always a gamble, and as I suspected, it was just a reheated patty. It had that game-y overpowering flavor--like when you reheat meat in a microwave or something. Yuck. Worse yet, the condiments inside were a sad display. The lettuce was the worst! How so when you tout yourself as being a salad place? The side salad was disgusting. It was a prepackaged job that must've been sitting for a while. The cheese on top was watery and basically made the whole thing (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) almost gelatinous. It made me feel nauseated. THE PRICE The only positive is that I paid under $10 for this. I don't think I realize how cheap it was. I would definitely pay more for food that is fresher and of better quality. THE VISIT I visited on a Thursday around 1 p.m. and it was pretty slow (no lines, some tables filled). I thought it would be bumpin', but I see why. The staff were super friendly, though. This and the cheap price is why I gave it two stars instead of one. I'm in the area a lot and really wanted this to be a spot to get some healthy and quick food. I don't think I'll be back, though. Hope they get their stuff together here. read more

Pros: Love the fast casual option in an area of town where there is not much to choose from. They did a good job with the design...modern. The online ordering system is fantastic. Cons: They really need to take out the trash as the bins are always overflowing. I would suggest a way for customers to be able to stack the empty bowls and it might help compress the trash situation. Floors heading to the bathrooms are slippy so be cautious. Quality seems to be going down a bit as I think they are watering down their dressings to save $$. My last few salads lacked flavor so something is up.
