I got a blowout from Michael here. He took me as a last minute booking and he was amazing! Please take a look at my pictures. I was very pleased and will be switching from my regular stylist to Michael.

Words cannot express how much love I have for Werk Salon. I have been going to Dimitri for quite sometime now. The space is beautiful and inviting, filled with natural light and beautiful chapel doors. Dimitri and his staff are patient, genuine, and know hair! I have had Dimitri do my highlights, clip in extensions, treatments, hair cuts, but most importantly he prepped my hair for my wedding and styled it. I went for weekly Kerastase treatments, he did individual I-tip extensions two weeks prior with trials for my hair styling for the big day. You can tell that Dimitri not only loves what he does, but loves his clients as well. He made my wedding so special, I cannot thank him enough.

Dimitri is an absolute master at all things hair and style. His meticulous attention to detail and love for his profession is everything one hopes for - while nervously waiting in a salon chair. I've been going to Werk salon for the past 4 years which I vetted on yelp. To this day, I trek over an hour to see him about every 8 weeks. He makes me look and feel like a million bucks and his lightness is always a pleasure to be around. I recommend him for balayage, hair color, hair straightening treatments, haircuts (for my hubby and I) and for good conversations. Thank you Dimitri, you're so talented!

Brazilian Blowout - November 2020

I have known Dimitri for years and there is a reason. Not only does he strongly communicate with his clients to assure your goals are met, he is genuine and he builds great relationships with clients as well. He is a very talented hair dresser who is constantly ahead of the industry curve with techniques, he is a phenomenal color artists, and he is fluent in shaping hair of all types. My mom was a hair stylist and praises him. We both have been seeing him for 5 years now. He has always delivered amazing results with every trip and is pretty much family to me! I will never go to anyone else for Brazilian Blowouts. Hands down. My hair is left healthier, shiny and soft. They last me about 5-6 months with my ethnic/wavy hair (following proper care) which is GREAT longevity for this treatment. I've attached photos! Everyone is always in love with my hair after I get these done and I gain incredible hair growth with this treatment. I've also had a lot of color work done with Dimitri. I have ethnic hair that is stubborn and pulls very red. Ash is very popular and I've had my hair ruined countless times in SF by people that raise my hair too light or too quickly leaving it damaged and ORANGE. He has been able to balayage and baby light my hair flawlessly to cool toned browns and he takes his time to slowly lift my hair so it's left in tact and healthy in the process. He cares about the health of your hair just as much as the result. I had baby lights done in February 2020 before Covid and his blending was so well done it's been 7 months and it has grown out beautifully... I had dark pigment added to my hair but you can still see the highlights months later in my Brazilian blowout pics attached....he is simply talented. Thank you for all of your services over the years, Dimitri!!

Dimitri is amazing!!! I have been coming here for years. What started out as a business transaction for amazing haircuts has blossomed into a true friendship. Depending on how fresh I want my hair to be I go weekly, bi-weekly, or every three weeks. My hair is short and curly and he hits a home run every time. I have seen him cut, style, and color all hair types. No matter what gender, orientation or desire you have for your look Dimitri can more than fulfill it. He is simply put an artist. Frankly everyone who works here is fantastic. I will not cut my hair anywhere else and to me Dimitri and the folks at Werk Salon are family!

Jayden always makes me smile. Her cut is flawless. Jayden knows how to make my thick black hair looks like water fall with her unique technique.

I really wanted to love this place, but for the price... it was mid at best…read more I came in for an extra-long blowout with extensions $135 + tax (which already felt questionable since personal services like hair in CA are generally non-taxable... Google is free). Add $12 parking at Union Square garage, so close to $170 deep for a blowout. For that price, I expected polished. What I got felt rushed. I paid extra for extensions but was paired with someone who clearly didn't have much extension experience. The wash was super quick (definitely no massage), and when she brushed my hair she was rough, like yanking-my-head-around rough. At one point she even asked, "Does that hurt?" which is never a comforting question mid-service. By the end, one of my front extension beads had been pulled out, leaving a noticeable bump at the front of my hair for weeks. When she finished the blowout, we both kind of looked at it like... ummmmm. It just didn't look good. She asked if I wanted her to touch up the front, so she grabbed a curler for my bangs, and literally picked old hairs out of it before wrapping my hair. I wish I was kidding. It felt very last-minute. She adjusted a few pieces I pointed out, and I left saying, "Maybe it'll fall and look better later?" She said, "Yeah..." It completely fell the next day. I ended up touching it up myself. Before leaving that first appointment, I asked if I could come back for the complimentary touch-up and upgrade to a half-up style by just paying the $30 difference. I was told yes, of course. Three days later I came back downtown for my touch-up. New stylist. I asked about upgrading to the half-up and paying the $30 difference like I was told. She checked and came back saying no - I'd have to pay the full $165. I said I didn't have time for a full wash and everything, and she said, "Oh you don't have to wash, we can just do the style." But for the full $165 For just styling. Wild. So I just did the complimentary touch-up. Ironically, she used a straightener for the curls and it looked way better and lasted way longer which only reminded me how poorly the first blowout was done. Overall, the vibe felt slightly annoyed and not very welcoming. For this price point, I expect consistency, extension experience, and a polished result. Instead I left feeling overcharged and underwhelmed.

Thankfully, Blowology Dry Bar and Spa came through! I needed a slicked-back bun for an event, and my stylist, Ali, was awesome. He told me it was his first time doing that kind of updo, but honestly, you wouldn't have known. He took his time, made sure it wasn't too tight (huge win for my scalp), and the end result looked great. He even gave me a discount since it was his first time doing a bun for a customer. which I thought was super thoughtful. I also thought the ambiance of the salon was super cozy and brought all the vintage vibes!

She was hella prompt, and clearly knows what she's doing. I truly love my new haircut--it was a big change and she handled it beautifully. I know it was a big job, and I really do appreciate the time and care that went into it! That said, thanks again!! All in all, a nice experience and I'm thankful for the fresh start. Hoping after a wash it feels just right. Thank you, Erin!

I wasn't done showing photos nor was I reassured or that she understood what I wanted. She interrupted my appointment to do a bang trim for someone else in the middle of it. At one point said she was 'not prepared' for my hair. Why not? That's literally her job. She cut it dry, it felt very chaotic. I found this place bc I searched for a razor cut, liked the examples of the work. I expected a wet, razor cut. Scissors are fine too. If I wanted a 'curly cut' or DRY cut I would've searched for that. Couldn't get a decent blowout which should last days this didn't even look good immediately after much less after the walk through SF fog to my car. I tipped 30 on top of the 190 starting price. So 220 total. Plus I come from the north bay and had to drive over the bridge into SF. I have waited for weeks to finally post a review because I really tried to give it a chance but I'm very unhappy I wasted over 200 and couldn't even get a good cut or blowout. My hair is curly but it doesn't need any special treatment it can be cut normally, wet, and can be worn either way, curly or smooth, with a good cut. Once again, a stylist was late, then rushed me, didn't listen, didn't deliver, wasted my time and money, and ruined years of grow out. And I'll have to go back to trimming it myself as these shattered layers grow out to recover the thickness I had. I could have done a better job myself at home. I did not hate what I came in with, i actually liked it. It just needed to be cleaned up and evened out basically. Long layers. Classic. Could not have been a more simple request. She completely overcomplicated things. No idea why she cut it dry, and I did not want that! but she didn't ask or consult me if I was OK with it or tell me ahead of time she planned to do that. But she was perfectly polite n all. Just not at all the skill level I expect of a senior stylist charging nearly 200 for a cut. For that I expect a great blowout to be no problem at all. I expect to walk out feeling confident. I have examples of great past cuts. I wish I had just walked out in the 30 minutes she made me wait. The last cut I had from someone else they were also very late and it sucks that happened yet again. Wasn't sure bc they take cc info upfront and say they charge for late cancels if it was even an option without getting charged. Ought to have been able to get a nice cut and blowout for over 200. Should not have been this complicated or difficult. Also think the so called clean/green products, maybe just don't perform as well as the ones that aren't greenwashed and just focus on performance. They did nothing to give me the moisture or the protection from fog and frizz my hair needs. And the whole time my people pleasing, introvert self was just saying oh yeah thats fine no problem oh yeah cool sounds good i trust you yeah i love it its great thanks! smh Not at all the experience I was paying for, to actually feel pampered and not have to do this job myself. I could've done it myself and been happy with it. I wouldn't have done what she did to my hair myself. the location also leaves much to be desired but thats SF in general the local bums and crazies are to be expected. the search for a stylist that will deliver professional service and results? sadly continues.

My reasoning for giving 2 stars is because of what happened on 2 separate occasions. I came in to get my roots redone and I always discuss pricing before we start to avoid what eventually happened. When I was rang up, I was charged an extra $30 without being consulted. The girls who did my hair both seemed uncomfortable to tell me I was being over charged what I was quoted and apologized. I was obviously annoyed and said that price was never discussed or consulted with me before. They gave some reason about needing more hair dye? I thought it was bullshit and it seemed like someone else, maybe the owner, was adding it on without their knowledge and had to deal with the issue of telling a customer on the spot. The whole situation felt off. It's not about the money, I can afford an extra $30. It's about the principle of transparency and professionalism which I think wasn't shown on these 2 occasions. Unfortunately I won't be coming back to this salon which is disappointing because I really liked both girls who did my hair but my experience in the last couple of years tells me this place adds on extra charges, without your knowledge and I can't trust a salon that doesn't lead with transparency or professionalism.
