How long does a Brazilian blowout last on average, with good care ( using the right products, etc)? Can a blowout be done at the same time as coloring?

I usually do not schedule a haircut until i absolutely need it, and with Brandon getting more customers he is usually booked.

I really wanted to love this place, but for the price... it was mid at best…read more I came in for an extra-long blowout with extensions $135 + tax (which already felt questionable since personal services like hair in CA are generally non-taxable... Google is free). Add $12 parking at Union Square garage, so close to $170 deep for a blowout. For that price, I expected polished. What I got felt rushed. I paid extra for extensions but was paired with someone who clearly didn't have much extension experience. The wash was super quick (definitely no massage), and when she brushed my hair she was rough, like yanking-my-head-around rough. At one point she even asked, "Does that hurt?" which is never a comforting question mid-service. By the end, one of my front extension beads had been pulled out, leaving a noticeable bump at the front of my hair for weeks. When she finished the blowout, we both kind of looked at it like... ummmmm. It just didn't look good. She asked if I wanted her to touch up the front, so she grabbed a curler for my bangs, and literally picked old hairs out of it before wrapping my hair. I wish I was kidding. It felt very last-minute. She adjusted a few pieces I pointed out, and I left saying, "Maybe it'll fall and look better later?" She said, "Yeah..." It completely fell the next day. I ended up touching it up myself. Before leaving that first appointment, I asked if I could come back for the complimentary touch-up and upgrade to a half-up style by just paying the $30 difference. I was told yes, of course. Three days later I came back downtown for my touch-up. New stylist. I asked about upgrading to the half-up and paying the $30 difference like I was told. She checked and came back saying no - I'd have to pay the full $165. I said I didn't have time for a full wash and everything, and she said, "Oh you don't have to wash, we can just do the style." But for the full $165 For just styling. Wild. So I just did the complimentary touch-up. Ironically, she used a straightener for the curls and it looked way better and lasted way longer which only reminded me how poorly the first blowout was done. Overall, the vibe felt slightly annoyed and not very welcoming. For this price point, I expect consistency, extension experience, and a polished result. Instead I left feeling overcharged and underwhelmed.

Thankfully, Blowology Dry Bar and Spa came through! I needed a slicked-back bun for an event, and my stylist, Ali, was awesome. He told me it was his first time doing that kind of updo, but honestly, you wouldn't have known. He took his time, made sure it wasn't too tight (huge win for my scalp), and the end result looked great. He even gave me a discount since it was his first time doing a bun for a customer. which I thought was super thoughtful. I also thought the ambiance of the salon was super cozy and brought all the vintage vibes!

My first time. Booked w Jewel. She was 30 minutes late to start my appt. Then rushed and…read moreinterrupted my consultation. I wasn't done showing photos nor was I reassured or that she understood what I wanted. She interrupted my appointment to do a bang trim for someone else in the middle of it. At one point said she was 'not prepared' for my hair. Why not? That's literally her job. She cut it dry, it felt very chaotic. I found this place bc I searched for a razor cut, liked the examples of the work. I expected a wet, razor cut. Scissors are fine too. If I wanted a 'curly cut' or DRY cut I would've searched for that. Couldn't get a decent blowout which should last days this didn't even look good immediately after much less after the walk through SF fog to my car. I tipped 30 on top of the 190 starting price. So 220 total. Plus I come from the north bay and had to drive over the bridge into SF. I have waited for weeks to finally post a review because I really tried to give it a chance but I'm very unhappy I wasted over 200 and couldn't even get a good cut or blowout. My hair is curly but it doesn't need any special treatment it can be cut normally, wet, and can be worn either way, curly or smooth, with a good cut. Once again, a stylist was late, then rushed me, didn't listen, didn't deliver, wasted my time and money, and ruined years of grow out. And I'll have to go back to trimming it myself as these shattered layers grow out to recover the thickness I had. I could have done a better job myself at home. I did not hate what I came in with, i actually liked it. It just needed to be cleaned up and evened out basically. Long layers. Classic. Could not have been a more simple request. She completely overcomplicated things. No idea why she cut it dry, and I did not want that! but she didn't ask or consult me if I was OK with it or tell me ahead of time she planned to do that. But she was perfectly polite n all. Just not at all the skill level I expect of a senior stylist charging nearly 200 for a cut. For that I expect a great blowout to be no problem at all. I expect to walk out feeling confident. I have examples of great past cuts. I wish I had just walked out in the 30 minutes she made me wait. The last cut I had from someone else they were also very late and it sucks that happened yet again. Wasn't sure bc they take cc info upfront and say they charge for late cancels if it was even an option without getting charged. Ought to have been able to get a nice cut and blowout for over 200. Should not have been this complicated or difficult. Also think the so called clean/green products, maybe just don't perform as well as the ones that aren't greenwashed and just focus on performance. They did nothing to give me the moisture or the protection from fog and frizz my hair needs. And the whole time my people pleasing, introvert self was just saying oh yeah thats fine no problem oh yeah cool sounds good i trust you yeah i love it its great thanks! smh Not at all the experience I was paying for, to actually feel pampered and not have to do this job myself. I could've done it myself and been happy with it. I wouldn't have done what she did to my hair myself. the location also leaves much to be desired but thats SF in general the local bums and crazies are to be expected. the search for a stylist that will deliver professional service and results? sadly continues.

I love this place so much and Krista is a hair GODDESS…read more I haven't had a haircut in about a decade because of health and anxiety reasons and decided to take the step and my fiancé reached out to figure out how to set an appointment for me because I was a little overwhelmed by the choices online. They said they could have me in for a consultation same day and after the consultation we made an appointment for me to do my hair with Krista. Oh my goodness. Any anxiety I had went away immediately when I walked to the shop and Krista waved hi to me. Honestly one of the warmest sweetest people I've had the pleasure of meeting AND she is a master of hair magic. She communicated with me throughout, made sure I was happy and comfortable, and let me know what was happening while she was doing my hair. Y'all, I am beyond amazed and impressed with how everything turned out. I have really thick unruly curly hair in my opinion and she tamed it and styled it and I already know even after I wash my hair and do my natural curls, it's going to look amazing. She checked in with me to make sure that the color was what I wanted and when the first time wasn't as vibrant as I wanted she helped me adjust until I was satisfied. Honestly this was the greatest experience I've had this year, if not my whole life with hair. The shop is also gorgeous and immaculate and I know whenever I have any hair-related needs I will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much wonderful staff at Bloom and especially Krista! You absolutely made my year.

My reasoning for giving 2 stars is because of what happened on 2 separate occasions. I came in to get my roots redone and I always discuss pricing before we start to avoid what eventually happened. When I was rang up, I was charged an extra $30 without being consulted. The girls who did my hair both seemed uncomfortable to tell me I was being over charged what I was quoted and apologized. I was obviously annoyed and said that price was never discussed or consulted with me before. They gave some reason about needing more hair dye? I thought it was bullshit and it seemed like someone else, maybe the owner, was adding it on without their knowledge and had to deal with the issue of telling a customer on the spot. The whole situation felt off. It's not about the money, I can afford an extra $30. It's about the principle of transparency and professionalism which I think wasn't shown on these 2 occasions. Unfortunately I won't be coming back to this salon which is disappointing because I really liked both girls who did my hair but my experience in the last couple of years tells me this place adds on extra charges, without your knowledge and I can't trust a salon that doesn't lead with transparency or professionalism.

It's been 4 months since I got my hair cut. I wrote a…read morereview right after I got my haircut but I decided to give myself some time to adapt. The comments saying that the stylists take creative freedom are not wrong. I asked for a short haircut with less of a heavy bang and I wanted to sides to be longer so I could tuck it in the back of my ears. IT. DID. NOT. HAPPEN. They cut my hair so short and I literally still have no hair near my ear area. The top of my hair is significantly shorter than the rest, even now that has grown a bit. The top was cut so carelessly that now it looks like I have a wig or a toupee. They gave me a shag... I didnt ask for a shag! I asked for whispy bangs and I got a total mess! I have spent hours trying to make it look good but they ruined my hair. I have tried different stylists: - entry level: my hair was very long at the time and I asked to have some layers and framing bangs. They did a pretty good job but I noticed that my left side was way longer than the right, nothing that I couldn't fix. - mid level: I asked for a bob after being tired of having asymmetrical sides. Way shorter than I asked for, stylist asked me after the big cut to show her the inspo pic again. They weren't in the best mood that day and it was reflected in my hair. - expert cut stylist: the reason why I will never go back to this place. I DID NOT ASK FOR A SHAG OR A MULLET! It will take me years! Until my hair can finally look good again. The cut is so badly done that all the middle part from ear to ear is way shorter than the rest! Making it look like I have a helmet all the time! It doesn't matter how I style it... it will pop out!!!!!! So frustrating! They left the neck area so long it looks like one of those DIY mullet tiktok tutorials. I would've done a better job and save myself 150$ they kept asking if I was ok... if I liked my cut... of course not! I left and I cried in the street after loosing my beautiful healthy hair. Go here if you want to be surprised with a brand new haircut you did NOT ask for.
