Stay away at all costs - came out to "fix" leak on my roof in two places, still leaks two days later in same exact places after charging me $1600, which I paid honoring they'd at least come back out and fix. I left 3 voicemails with secretary, poor lady kept apologizing, but Doug never called me back. You want someone who doesn't stand behind their work, or returns 3 calls, or honors the work they did - call Werkheiser. You want quality of work, go to ARM Roofing, HIGHLY recommend them - they fixed in one shot what Werkheiser failed to do, never complaining about "I need a new roof"... ARM Roofing showed me pictures of everything Werkheser roofers neglected - huge holes in my roof. Lesson learned, hope my experience saves you money and aggravation as homeowners. read more

The work done was not in keeping with the quality I was accustomed to from my old roofer. Many long nails sticking out into my attic creating hazardous conditions. One particular gentleman accused our town's Sanitation workers of trying to steal roofing supplies because they were looking at cardboard boxes on recycling day. We recently used Werkheiser to help us with our roof repairs. We needed some quick help with our house. We worked with Adele to schedule the roof repair and was able to get someone out quickly to prepare the quote. I was impressed with the two people who came out to assess the situation. Afterwards, Doug called me with the full report and sent me the quote. I thought the pricing was fair and reasonable. However, I still had some questions so, I stopped by the office. Doug took time to review the photos with me and to provide further explanation of what needed to be done. By viewing their photos, it confirmed the required scope and validated the pricing. We were also able to utilize their services for the gutter repair. I thought their pricing for the gutter work was reasonable. When the crew arrived they had everything needed to complete the work. They did a fabulous job for the repairs. I thought that Vladimir and his crew were very thorough and very professional. After working on the roof, the crew suggested that we power wash to remove the moss and discoloration. Warren was able to get me on the schedule in two days for the power wash. I was really nervous about this process with the status of the roof, but it turned out great. I was so happy that they were able to accommodate our house in such a short timeframe. I really appreciated Adele's help and her great customer service for a quick completion. The work completed by Werkheiser exceeded my expectations from scheduling, to outlining the scope of work, and to completing the job. Horrible. Do not use. The main priority of this roofing company is to have you spend as much money as possible in a short time frame with little explanation as to why or client oversight. From beginning to end, this was all frustration and poor customer service. After asking Werkhauser to come to my house, it took them approximtaley 6 weeks. When Werkauser did finally show up, they did so unannounced at a time when no one was home - this matters because there is no way for us to verify the work which was actually completed. Upon arriving and beginning work, they called me at work to try and pressure me into spending an additional 4500 on the roof with no clear explanation as to why. When I delayed making a decision, the roofer pressured me and asked that I at least do the additional spend up to the original estimate (i.e., do not scale back, get a second opinion or even speak with my husband). Following the completion of the work (which we can not confirm was actually done), they sent the bill for over a month to the wrong email and never once did they attempt to contact me via phone. Incorrectly believing the bill was late, they called me at work and I gave them my correct information However, this time they sent me an incorrect invoice and attempted to over charge me by $3000 - for the work they wanted to do and I would not approve. After a series of back and forth, and 3 weeks later, they finally sent me the right bill -- saying they were "so embarassed!" Unfortunately I was on vacation and did not mail them a check right away. This resulted in the owner calling me and threatening to put a lein on my property. That is correct -- after attempting to get me to spend way over my budget, performing the work with no notice or home owner oversight, incorrently billing me for weeks, and then sending me a grossly incorrect invoice, they threatened me with a lein on my property. Please note, the bill was paid in full in under 30 days of finally receiving the correct invoice and I will never call Werkhauser again. Unfortunately I had been warned by other residents of Bronxville and some of the other tradesmen we worked with the response from one was "There are plenty good ones, just don't use Werkhauser." read more

A number of years ago, Werkheiser provided a contract for a new roof and gutters for my home. One line item stated that a passive vent would be installed for an additional $1600. What the crew ended up doing instead was installing a power vent fan in the roof. Basically, they removed my old fan and installed the new one in a slightly different location. When I called about it the rep replied that he liked fans better. Really? Then reduce the $1600 to $200 and we'll call it even but this was not was was agreed to in the contract. Much later, another tradesman pointed out to me that there was curvature in the middle the roof which was never corrected so that more water will tend to run down the middle of the roof instead of evenly across. I would definitely use someone else. read more

We commissioned Werkheiser after speaking with a neighbor of ours who spoke highly of their work. We utilized them to replace our upper main roof as well as install proper ventilation in our attic. My primary contact was Doug Malen who was excellent in his analysis and explanation of the scope of work that faced us. He was patient and receptive to our many questions. In our minds this was a large job and daunting project. They were onsite for a full week. We found their work to be high quality and I would happily recommend them to others. read more

We have used Werkheiser over many years for roofing, sky light replacement, carpentry and exterior house painting. They are true professionals doing quality work; expensive, but worth it in the long run. Yes, my job cost more than the original estimate, but nothing was done without my consent. I felt that the Warren , Doug and Teri looked at and treated my house as if it were their own. They wanted to do the job correctly, repair and/or replace apparent and looming problems, and make my house aesthetically pleasing and water tight! read more

We had Werkheiser do our roof several years ago after a huge tree limb fell on the house and made a hole in the roof. We decided to go with one of their stronger roof shingles and the architectural style. Ever since it was completed I see that the placement of the shingles in a few places appear cock-eyed, especially in the front of the house. We also had work done in the house that required making a hole in the finished attic ceiling and the contractors found that the roofers had left a major amount of the old shingles/debris between the ceiling and roof! I had also found a lot of debris and lots of nails coming through into the actual attic following the roofing job and cleaned it myself. Today we had two people come to take a look at my concerns and was told that it was a 'textbook' job - they took pictures from a horizontal point of view and I kept saying that it was from the front and more vertical point of view where one can see the haphazard placement of the shingles. I was told that there was nothing that they can do with regard to the old shingles that fell into the house when replacing the roof and that they were certain that they represent only 10 per cent of the leftover shingles since they claimed 90 per cent went into the dumpster - they were not present when the job was done, which involved a lot of men all over the roof doing different parts; I said having too many workers at the same time on the roof could account for what aesthetically comes across as not a neat job. I happen to have a very good eye for balance in any type of work on the home. I was told that they could not see what I see. In sum, I knew that there is nothing else to do but live with what we have and try not to look at the areas of the roof where I see that the shingles are not well placed. The cost of the roof was a lot - we learned that Werkheiser is pricey - that was the case - disappointing since I am not fully satisfied with the way it looks. read more
