I brought my car in to have brake components replaced based on a prior diagnostic from another shop. After the work was completed, the vehicle became completely undrivable and had to be towed out. In my experience, a properly completed brake job should at least leave the car in a drivable condition. Despite this, I was still charged for the service and asked to remove the vehicle promptly. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this shop. read more

Werkshop is my favorite specialty mechanics and racing shop in the USA. Andy and Wyman are great owners. They specialize in tinting, PPF, ceramic, and suspension upgrades, but they can do everything else between oil changes to complete engine builds. They've worked on my STI, Dark Horse, and probably my new Land Cruiser. The most recent engine rebuild includes cryogenic treatment and WPC, which is really exciting. It's crazy how popular they've become but still manage to stay low key and have a race team on the side. Very professional and understanding people. Hope it always stays this way. I've been coming to Werkshop for all my cars since they were still located in South San Francisco. I was recommended to them by a friend of mine a while back. I first took my WRX STI to them for all my mods, oil changes, repairs, and even ceramic coats. After I switched to a BMW X3 M40i, and now BMW M3, they still handle all my maintenance and mods. I am very picky about getting things worked on in a particular way, and Andy has put up with all my little complaints and helped me resolve every problem that I had with my cars. Originally, I wanted to gatekeep this place because of the quality of work and the service for the price they charge, but ultimately, I want to continue to see Werkshop grow. Andy and his team are exceptionally knowledgeable about what they do, especially Joey and Wyman, whom I had the pleasure to work with. Andy and his team have done downpipes, alignments, exhaust systems, suspension work, and more on all my cars. Hence I trust them fully to continue to work on my cars. Most recently, I was going back and forth with Andy for a few weeks on what aftermarket wheels for my M3, and what size tires I should go with the car. He provided his recommendation and it came out to be the perfect wheel fitment. Now we just need to get the height adjustment down, which is the next project I am working with him on. I recently had a 90k service done and then had to take it to a local dealership for a emissions recall. While at the dealership I told them about a squealing noise and they told me I needed new front rotors and pads $800. Called the shop spoke to Andy and he told me not to pay and drop it off to have it looked at. Joey and team told me no issues and my brakes are fine. Took care of me at late notice to make sure I didn't get ripped off. These guys are the real deal. read more

Had a catback aftermarket installation done, Andy was awesome. He helped with a deal and also had it installed. Brought my Model Y for an ugly, noisy vibration that was emanating from my car. Andy said there are a few options that could cause this, ranging from likely to unlikely and cheap to expensive. We started with the cheap/likely option, and the noise stubbornly stuck around. I brought the car back and one of the techs, Joey, drove the car with me and took it as a personal challenge to solve this issue. He told me that if he's not 99% sure, he'll tell me to go to Tesla. Now I'm finally back in my car with no weird noises. Andy to his credit handled the second repair free of charge (I just paid for the part). So I took my 2023 Honda civic type R to werkshop for a stage 1 clutch replacement/upgrade when i got my car back I stalled twice when pulling off. Which I hadn't done in a years time and something just didn't feel right. So I called the shop and spoke with Andy and told him what I was experiencing. He assured me his technician didn't adjust my clutch pedal which was a lie he did. Andy said he would speak with his technician about it, but his technician was out at the time. About two weeks went by and i was now starting to see Rpm's jumping as my transmission was beginning to slip and still no call back. Called and informed Andy of that also since i hadn't heard back about my first issue. Now it's been about two in a half more weeks and nothing. While driving to work my car would stop engaging while shifting ( which show signs of clutch heating up and than disengaging) when in fact the clutch pedal was adjusted wrong and the clutch was constantly engaged until hot and than would stop. Went back and forth with Andy for weeks after that had my car towed a few times because i was stuck(in the rain). And at no point did he say have it tow to us so we could look at it. Come December is when he finally asked me to bring it in than asked the manufacturer of the clutch their opinion leaving out details of what their shop had done. That went on for awhile finally February they replaced my clutch again with oem parts that I paid for once again and gave me my car back and two weeks later it's doing it again. Took it to Honda and they are saying the CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT IS VERY HIGH. So it needs to be replaced again . This was the worse decision of my life to go to this shop. I got my car back from werkshop parked it because the recall on my car needed to be fix and brakes. So car was driven from their shop to my house parked than to the shop for the brake job and than to Honda for the recall less than 200 miles and already the clutch is yet again out. Two clutches worked on by werkshop and both didn't last the job was done wrong. And to add after posting this review Andy wrote me in email and threaten me to take it down. Just crazy this is how this man wants to run his business. read more

Andy and Werkshop have continued to maintain and build up my vehicle since 2021 when it was brand new. 21k miles later, the car is running better than when it was on the Subaru lot! Anything from wheels shipped straight from Japan to installing and tuning a high end suspension system with Ohlin coilovers, Werkshop has been able to execute with ease (they also have a new state-of-the-art alignment station/machine). Every simple oil change or intricate modification is done without any shortcuts or errors. Even things I would not have thought of are covered by their work as they simply will not let the car leave the shop until it is safe and the job is done correctly and masterfully. Some people would rather them rush, but I am willing to wait even if it takes longer than estimated. Andy is one of the OG mechanics and members of the Subaru and general car community. He expertly works on anything from Teslas, BMW's, Hondas, Supras, Subaru's, all exotics, daily drivers, and track cars alike. He is also the most generous and focused person I've known in the US, Asia, and Europe, and he always looks to accommodate the customer's specific needs and circumstances. He even helped me when I got side-swiped on the highway in 2022. I choose not to take my car anywhere else because trust in this industry is rare. Every technician in Werkshop is known and vetted personally by Andy, and it shows. Even if Werkshop does not offer a service, they have a network of friendly shops that assist them. Werkshop has been the saving grace that renewed my trust in auto shops. After two relatively bad experiences around San Bruno/San Jose, getting my car back to full working condition the proper way is truly a relief. I requested a quote a few weeks ago to diagnose an airbag light that came on after another shop had installed an aftermarket steering wheel and an aftermarket LED emblem that had been disconnected by another body shop. Werkshop provided a rough estimate (higher than it actually ended up costing, thankfully) and we managed to book an appointment a few weeks out. I went in for the appointment today, dropping the car off at noon- and managed to get the car all done and finished by 5PM. Quick, easy, and done properly - such a relief. Once we arrived to pick up the car, we were told exactly what work had been done and how long each task took. We were also told about how he noticed the two shops that previously worked on my car definitely cut corners, and explained thoroughly how he went to fix each of those issues. Having recently bought a new car, there's always one thing I need to add, and that's window tint! More for looks than function for me, but glad it serves a function too. I was referred to Werkshop by someone who had gotten tint done in the past, and got in contact with Wyman. It was my first experience getting tint to my car done, so naturally I had a ton of questions and they were super responsive. Wyman was able to show the different shades/percentages prior to bringing in my vehicle, which I was thankful for. He was able to give me a quote and we set up a time to bring the car in. Bringing the car in was a breeze. Wyman was kind enough to show me the difference in shades and cut tiny pieces of tint to show how dark it would be once applied. After a few options, I finally decided on 35% and it came out better than I expected. They quoted me 3 hours, and it was done on time. Reading the reviews, it looks like this is the place if you are looking to get body work and performance mods put onto your car. Even though I was a newbie to PPF and had many questions, Andy took the time to answer all of them. He always responded on the same day, which I appreciated. This is a long overdue review for Werkshop; this place is awesome. Summary: if you want a super knowledgeable, no bullcrap mechanic who cares about cars, you definitely need to bring your car here. Andy is well known in the Subaru community in the Bay and for good reason. I know some people may be put off by his direct comments, but he always wants what is best for the customer. I used to own a 2013 WRX Hatch and I would not let anyone else touch her besides the people at Werkshop. It's been here several times for transmission modifications, some engine work, and even your basic oil changes. The last time was unmodding the car for sale, in which he helped pack all my mods with their associated hardware together into organized boxes in my trunk. He even gave me some tips and suggestions for the sale process. No Subaru? Don't worry, he's not limited to Subarus! He works on your daily commuter cars too, keeping them in tip-top shape! Andy is very straightforward...and I like that. There are no hidden fees, no bullshit, he just cuts right to the chase. The shop is full of enthusiasts that really care for cars (there's a reason why you see photos of Lambos, Porsches, Ferraris, and all dem luxury cars in their shop). He will take the time to explain what's going on with your car and provide you a list of options on how to move forward. Feel free to ask him questions, he's very detailed and will tell you as it is. He's meticulous in that he wants to make sure the customer is getting what they want and that the cars are in excellent running condition after they leave Werkshop. I recently referred my dad over to Werkshop because his BMW is in dire need of new tires. My dad brought his BMW into the shop to get them mounted/balanced, and alignment done. I've been going to Andy @ Werkshop for all my installs. Normally a really helpful guy and answers quickly.. recently got an exhaust installed on my Type R.. heard loud screech noises coming from the exhaust and asked if he could take a look. Instead of a smooth exchange, he gets defensive about his work and says it's more likely a defect with the part than an install error. Says I have to pay for his time if no fault is found on his end... after many messages he agrees to take a look but refuses to give me an estimate on time needed and tells me he got offended by my initial message that "points the finger at his technician" It's business and nothing personal. Won't ever return to this shop, I don't trust that they'll handle this situation professionally. Especially if the OWNER gets offended so easily. read more

TL;DR: OUTSTANDING quality and workmanship... the BEST in the biz. Trust Wyman and his excellent team!!! I've wrapped 5 different cars (i.e. MB S560, Porsche 991 Turbo, Tesla S, etc.) each at different reputable shops around the Bay, and WERKSHOP is BY FAR the BEST wrap shop and window tint I have ever experienced. Every time I wrap a car, there's always that one tiny little imperfection (or two) that isn't worth redoing an entire bumper that you compromise and live with. Well, at Werkshop, I went over the entire car with a magnifying glass and couldn't find one imperfection. The lines were hand cut perfectly straight, edges tucked away so they're almost invisible, and the owner (Wyman) somehow managed to miraculously wrap the ENTIRE front bumper (from hood to lower diffuser and left to right fender)... in ONE piece!! (see front pics) That was near impossible considering all the vents/lights/markers/detectors/creases/angles/etc., but somehow he did it. Even the side mirrors which are 2 pieces you can barely see or feel the cut (see pic). His technicians William, Angelo and CC(?) do AMAZING work under Wyman's supervision, and you can easily tell they are expertly trained and VERY attentive to detail. If you treasure your cars like I do and want THE BEST treatment for your baby, trust Wyman and his team. I am OCD and SUPER meticulous, and Werkshop exceeded ALL my expectations. Highly recommend. I have an old 2008 Porsche cayman. Not a very popular or well understood car. I was looking for a shop that could help me to customize as it desperately needed suspension, wheels, and tires. This is the place to come to around here. Andy was ultra responsive, knowledgeable, and went out of his way to find answers to what he didn't know. He provided good recommendations, was pretty transparent on costs, and got the work done in a timely fashion. He even did a good job handling my anxiety when I thought my wheels had been lost during shipment (they were just delayed by the shipping carrier), and allowed my old wheels to be picked up directly by a seller I arranged. Results speak for themselves. The car looks and feels as if it was meant to be manufactured this way. Offsets, sizing, height, performance.. it all just works. I have no hesitation recommending this place to anyone. They may not be the cheapest, but custom work is something you want to get done right and stay that way. High marks to Andy and his crew!!
