This was like visiting a relative's home. The greeter sorry I didn't catch his name felt like I've known him for years. He was personable and so friendly. Our server was a polite young man and his smile was so cheerful. The food!!! The food was like home. The servings were huge and delicious. I took most of mines home. read more

Stumbled across this gem. The service was excellent from everyone we encountered. Not only was the food delicious but the portion size was outta this world....and I can eat! I've heard about this place but never really paid it too much attention. Boy was I missing out. Once I seen fish and spaghetti on the menu, I was sold that the food that I was going to eat was going to be good because if you know you know. I ordered the basket of biscuits which comes with honey butter and topped with powered sugar, so good. For my entree, I had fish & grits sans the pepper & onions. The fish was seasoned well & crispy. My only gripe I wish it was in a bowl rather than a sizzling plate because that dries the grits out a bit. I'll be back for that fish & spaghetti soon. read more

Hole in the wall place with great food! Came here looking for a filling breakfast with a short wait. Only waited 10 mins for a table for two and was seated in the basement which was decorated so brightly! You didn't feel like you were in a basement mind you. Taking advantage of the local seafood, ordered the seafood Benedict, my friend ordered the seafood omelette, both of us opted for fresh fruit as a side. What arrived was a classic benny with plenty of crab meat and 2 shrimp on top. I'll be completely honest, I'm not sure if I ever got hollandaise sauce but, I didn't mind. The crab was fresh and sweet, the bread buttery and the eggs cooked perfectly. The fruit was also fresh and served nicely with whipped cream on top. Coffee was alright. Service was friendly! I think this place is worth at least one visit for its exceptional food! read more

I came on a quite Saturday afternoon but the service seemed to be slow. They also seemed to be running low on supplies. They didn't have red velvet waffles remaining, I heard the server say they ran out of cups, and the one she did being was dirty. Asked for hot water and they brought out a wine glass filled.... once I mentioned the dirty wine glass they brought out a regular glass with hot water. Very disappointing start. I could also see she clearly did not care and was smirking giving looks under her mask. Food: We ordered Seafood omelet A Belgian waffle Hungry man platter (my date only liked his pancakes) The food was actually good. However, I did almost consider leaving due to the lack of professionalism and care for cleanliness. Especially when COVID is still an issue. Staff walking around with mask not covering their face, dirty glasses, putting hot water in a regular water glass that could've burned me or cracked, etc... I would not go back! read more

My experience at Saturday Morning Cafe was great! I went with two friends yesterday and we made it just in time before the mad rush. They aren't accepting reservations at this time so it's first come first served only. When we checked in we were told a 35-minute wait (although we were seated sooner than that). As soon as we were called to sit down the wait time jumped to 1 - 1.5 hours for patrons that came after. The staff couldn't even accept takeout orders because they didn't want to overwhelm the kitchen plus the wait for takeout orders would've been just as long as the wait time to be seated. I watched so many people walk out looking very disappointed about the situation at hand. With that said, my group felt incredibly fortunate to have been seated quickly before the very long wait times started. We just knew the food was going to be outstanding at this Black-Owned restaurant. Friendly staff, fast service, wonderful music, fun decor and delicious food at fair prices. My hot fried chicken sandwich with hand cut fries at $12.95 gave me so much joy. To my surprise, the hand cut potatoes were my favorite. Seasoned to perfection. They were so amazing! I look forward to returning and trying other menu items. read more

I was in Baltimore for my cousin's inauguration and we were looking for a quick breakfast before our flight back home. We stopped at Saturday Morning Cafe and went against Shirley's, that was recommended to us. I ordered the Apple Pecan French Toast with eggs and bacon. It was decent, but I wasn't overly impressed. What was terrible was the customer service - the server barely spoke above a whisper, didn't offer any recommendations (like we asked) and the wait was absurd and we were the only people in the restaurant. Definitely won't be back! read more

They ARE OPEN! Only the small takeout section was closed. The diner is open and doing well. We were visiting and found them near our hotel so thought we would check them out. I had the veggie omelet and my husband had the basic breakfast, both were delish! The iced coffee was good as well. We went back the following day and had a bagel and breakfast sandwich and a turkey club to go. All of it was amazing and the club was huge, fresh and delish and it came with homemade fries. We went here on a whim after heading back from Philly to DC. The food hit the spot, it was our first time in Baltimore's Little Italy. The skillet I had was sizzling hot when it came out, the potatoes were so soft inside and the eggs were so light and fluffy. There were board games we could've played and the atmosphere felt super comfortable. We will be back! read more

I thought the food was outstanding. My breakfast was one of the best I had lately. I had the bella Benny and the taste was spot on. The potatoes were excellent as well. The older gentleman who served me was nice, friendly and responsive. Food came quickly, was hot and tasty. I went back for more the next morning. Wish my wife could cook like these guys. This is not a pretentious place, so if you want imported Beluga caviar on little stone plates, this ain't your restaurant. If you want a solid,tasty breakfast go here. Some reviewers blamed the restaurant for Google maps deficiencies... Is that really the restaurants fault? I don't think so. Highly suggest that if it took you a minute longer to find the place because you can't function without your phone and technology working correctly that maybe that is your issue and not the restaurants? read more

Jury duty day and made the hike to Werner's by far the best food in the area. I'm a usual lunch order at Pete's Grille so I'm glad their sister restaurant was just down the street. Great friendly service and got a staple bacon burger and fries. They even had my favorite green monster energy drink. It was a match made in heaven! Inexpensive and great diner food. Server was annoyed that they had to take our drink order after taking our food order. Food was prepared different than specified on the menu. Server didn't bother to ask why the entree was never touched. Given how annoyed they were with the drink order I figured it was best not to ask for the food to be made as ordered. My son liked his pancake. Straight forward diner food otherwise. 20% automatically included to tab. Will not return. read more

-Mediocre food, don't recommend -The portion on the mozzarella stick was horrible, you only get 3 small triangles for $12 - Portions for the shrimp bites was horrible -chicken sandwich dry and flavorless -wings was good but needs more sauce -20% gratuity added to the bill -Have to seat yourself - Bathroom is located in the dinning area which is disguising -service was okay Overall don't waste your money, I left still hungry and paid over $100 for just a chicken sandwich with fries, and just a few appetizers. read more

Ohh boyyy...this diamond here will stay on my list!! Located in little Italy, Bob and Southern breakfast certified!! I want to try everything I can on the menu (with meat substitution needed). Stumbled upon this place looking for some casual brunch options on a Sunday. So unassuming and no regrets at all! The bottomless lemon drops and mimosas are obviously popular as we arrived around 1 PM and they were out of quite a few things. We still enjoyed everything but just a heads up. From the crab eggrolls to the crab cheesesteaks, we were all more than satisfied. They were a little shorthanded and only one waitress was able to assist us and communicate with us, but for a quaint diner, it was to be expected. No frills but a great overall meal. read more

The place wasn't busy, some pick ups, one of which was wrong, only one other table occupied. The food was okay, nothing special. One of my items was completely forgotten. When i said to leave it, the answer was 'okay'. Not sorry or anything. Had to go over to the server and ask for a coffee refill because she was busy with her phone with her back to her only table (Me) at that point. It wasn't horrible but I probably will find another breakfast place next time. read more

Howdy! It was a quick 8 minute walk from the Marriott. We haven't eaten and traveled from Texas to Baltimore since 3AM. This here hit the spot!! I started out with a water and a their watermelon lemonade infused drink. Which was refreshing! Don't skip on those infused lemonades, it has real fruit! My French toast wasn't overly sweeten it was just right! Very generous portion of French toast, eggs and sausage. Overall we were seated quickly and served on time. And it was very delicious! Stopped in around noon on a Thursday and we were seated right away. Ordered chicken and waffles and Saturday special. Food was pretty good but service wasn't. Our server dropped off the food and didn't come back to check on us. Ate the waffle without butter. Eventually went and found her to ask for hot sauce for my chicken... not a great experience. Visited here and loved the ambiance of the cafe. The playlist was on point! Gave me a Love Jones vibe. It was very warm and intimate. I appreciated the prompt service when it came time to be seated as we immediately hit the entrance. We ordered a variety of menu items. The fish and chips were not my fav as the fish seemed over cooked and had too much batter. The other menu items were delish! The sweet tea chicken sandwich is out of this world!! The restaurant seemed unstaffed - long wait despite open tables. Our server forgot to bring water or utensils, we had to ask the person who brought our food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Water and other drinks were served in plastic cups, food was on plastic plates with a packet of plastic utensils.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband's plastic fork snapped while trying to cut a piece of fried chicken. The food was underwhelming and overpriced for the cafeteria style ambiance and so much plastic. The biscuits I ordered seemed undercooked. I've visited twice because the food is that AMAZINNNGGGGGG!!! The only reason for the 4 is because during my initial visit we were left unattended a little tooooo long. Went in for quick bite eat. Ordered the French toast club. The sandwich was sloppy and not put together well. It was also very salty. Probably took 4 bites and decided to close and leave. I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant while in town. It's very unassuming on the outside and the inside. Very generic decor. I was quickly seated and received immediate attention to order. The staff seemed very busy but everything was perfect. I ordered an iced coffee and the Baltimore breakfast skillet. It was so insanely delicious. Let's get into it. Cons: First off, we asked for a medium steak, and the server put it in as medium well. My boyfriend, bless his heart, didn't want to stir the pot, but I absolutely would've corrected it. Strike one. Then, I asked for avocado toast without feta. What came out? Feta. Sent it back, of course, but when the "corrected" version came, it wasn't even toasted! They literally slapped avocado spread on bread and called it a day. To top it off, there was a hair on my boyfriend's toast, which was already tragic enough, but let's not forget the breakfast potatoes. They either came straight out of the microwave or had been sitting out for ages--definitely not cooked through. Pros: The drinks? Fantastic. Honestly, that's the only reason I'd come back. The music was good, and the vibes were decent, but if you're here for the food, prepare for disappointment. Would I return? Only for the cocktails and to enjoy the music, but I'll eat elsewhere beforehand. read more

That part of the experience was disappointing and concerning because if someone asks for a drink to be remade due to an ingredient that wasn't ordered, simply pouring the same drink into another cup doesn't actually correct the issue. While boba wasn't an allergy concern for me personally, it made me wonder how a situation involving an actual food allergy would be handled.

Phenomenal food and service! My husband and I wandered in for a late breakfast because it was convenient to our hotel. We were immediately greeted by Ghia and we grabbed a seat at the counter. Ghia is a fantastic server with loads of personality. We had a lengthy conversation with her and she made us feel like family. They have a very big and unique menu so even with Ghia's descriptions to many of the dishes, it was very difficult to choose. Everything sounded amazing! My husband got the seafood Benedict and I got the seafood omelette. Both were to die for! The potatoes that come with the order were delicious...thinly sliced with peppers and onions. The portions are huge. I wasn't able to finish my whole plate and, trust me, I can put some food away. I did eat the entire omelette even though I could have stopped half-way through. It was just too good. I saw another reviewer upset at the length of time it took to get their food. Every single dish is made fresh and to order. That takes time and I much prefer to wait for fresh food. We certainly were in no rush, and our conversation with Ghia made the time go quickly. I had a meeting downtown and decided to give it a try based on the reviews. When I walked in I wasn't greeted or told where to sit so I just grabbed a seat at the bar. The restaurant isn't the cleanest and decor is a bit worn and outdated. The waitress served me promptly with a cup of water and asked for my choice of beverage; I ordered a coffee. She didn't smile or introduce herself - it was as if I was bothering her. The coffee wasn't that great either, it tasted old; ironically a cafe that can't serve great coffee. I tried the breakfast quesadilla with country potatoes and sausage. The quesadilla was actually pretty good as were the potatoes; however, the sausage was quite bland and not something I'd expect from a breakfast place. I'm sure many of their food items are delicious, however they do not have much variety and their specials are on a chalkboard which must be in your eyesight for you to know what they're offering. Throughout my meal, my waitress was constantly on the phone and seemed to be done with the day. I rate this restaurant so low due to service, cleanliness, and particular food items. It's a shame that small business like these do not provide better service for their customers. read more

Amazing find while we spent the weekend in Baltimore! We were in town to go to a Baltimore vs. Yankee game and the game got postponed to due rain. We were going to just head home and stop for something to eat closer to home but boy are we glad we didn't! My 18 year old daughter found this place looking online in the hotel before we left and she insisted we go there to eat. We're all happy we listed to her. The place has such a great atmosphere and terrific people. But a lot of places have atmosphere and terrific people! Saturday Morning Cafe has phenomenal food to go along with the great atmosphere and staff. We all order breakfast - didn't know what to get because it all sounded so good on the menu so we ended up ordering a couple of extra things - there were four of us and we ordered six meals! Figured we would all share and what was left we would box up to enjoy home. Ha! There was nothing left! We devoured it all. Please, please look this place up if you're in Baltimore. I know we'll be going back the next time we're there! We're from NJ - the diner capital of the world - so we know good food when we taste it. In town for an overnight stay and we found this little gem to have breakfast at. Just a short 5 minute walk from our hotel, The Saturday Morning Cafe is tucked away in a quaint little courtyard spot nestled between Light, Grant and Water Streets. My husband and I were greeting immediately as we walked through the door by Chris who was working behind the counter. Coffee was good and we appreciated that they keep their mugs in a warmer so your coffee stays nice and hot. Same goes for the syrup which I appreciate..nothing worse than cold syrup on your pancakes! So many good choices on he menu like the Seafood Benedict- poached eggs,Swiss,tomato,spinach,crabmeat and shrimp on and English muffin with homemade Hollandaise...mmmmmm. I opted for The Saturday Morning Special- 2 eggs, country potatoes, sausage and Apple Pecan French Toast(slight up charge for these soooooo worth it!) We hardly spoke through breakfast except for the very occasional yummm and mmmm and this is sooo good! Chef V in the kitchen clearly knows her way to our hearts..through our stomachs! Delish! I can't recommend this place enough! My husband and I were visiting from Texas for a few days and we ended up eating there twice over 2 days, once at breakfast, and again at lunch. The food was spectacular - we tried eggs benedict and an english muffin w/ fried chicken and were blown away at the quality of the food compared with the price. One of the gentlemen working there says that since they're not a chain, they can make whatever you want, and I believe it! At lunch, I tried a philly-style sandwich with ground beef and shrimp. I still remember the flavor weeks later. It was that good. Also I would like to say our waitress Lauren was excellent both times - she is personable and kind, and took really good care of us :) If we ever make it back to Baltimore, we'll definitely hit this place up again! I was visiting Baltimore for business related things. I am young and stupid though. So the trip was pretty miserable for me. One morning I decided to escape the business scene and go for brunch/breakfast. Nothing in the area looked good until I found this literal hole-in-the-wall place in a fancy alleyway. At first I was just glad to find a place to eat. But as soon as I got inside I was welcomed heatedly by a cook and what seemed to be a manager. It was nice to talk to regular people away from the convention center. I was craving some french toast because it made me think of my childhood and how my mother would brighten my morning with her home made french toast. Saturday Morning Café as you enter you are greeted with a smile the staff are genuinely caring. From the breakfast menu we ordered the French toast, Southern sausage biscuit and gravy, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, pancakes, turkey bacon, regular bacon and home fries. The presentation of the food was appealing as well as tasty our plate's were wiped clean The coffee was good not like the restaurant kind which usually taste like a bad tea lol. Where do I even begin? From the customer service to the food, this establishment is top notch. Just first impression calling on the phone to see if I needed a reservation was a good one. The waitress was so nice and attentive. They had amazing music playing in the background and had such a hip vibe. "It's our Anniversary" came on and my husband and I told them it was our Anniversary. They all got excited and said "Let's turn this up!" They turned up the song, celebrated us, and gave us a single flower each. Above and beyond. The food was incredible. Great portions. We were in town for a concert and looked on yelp for a nice breakfast/brunch option and this place was highly rated so we thought we'd give it a try. It is difficult to find and really should improve the signage. It's located on a tiny street/alley. Even when we were in the block all of the outside tables and chairs were stacked up so we thought they were closed. When we realized that they were open and went inside, we were immediately greeted warmly by several employees and directed to a table downstairs. We arrived at 10:15 on Sunday morning and were pleasantly surprised to find that there was no wait. Food was delicious and the service was prompt and courteous without being too attentive. My Husband and I are visiting the Inner Harbor of Baltimore from NJ for a nice long weekend getaway. Our friends that live out here told us we have to drop in for a "Saturday Morning" breakfast. First things first I love the fact that this place is Black Owned! The food is absolutely delicious. My husband and I enjoyed everything we ordered (Seafood Omelette, Red Velvet Waffles and Turkey Bacon). The omelette was delicious, the shrimp was very plump and fresh. The crab was masked by the eggs though. However, it was still delicious. Now, about those red velvet waffles though.... OMG, Heaven!!!!!!! You don't even need syrup. They are so tender and tasty. My wife and I found this place via a groupon - she can't help herself when the word DEAL appears on anything. We dropped in a little over a week ago and both had the burger. I love burgers; the best for me use to be had at a little corner carry out on Park Avenue near Saratoga Street. They went belly up quite a few years ago and I've been hunting for an equivalent every since. I came close in Harrisonburg, VA 3 years ago at a place called Jack Brown's so I was completely caught off guard when I found the Holy Grail of burgers in this place. Thanks to Saturday Morning, I now have a new burger standard so much so until I ordered another 2 days ago! Now I have to pace myself. Absolutely horrible.. Waited for an hour for pretty bland overpriced food. 11:00 am in the morning on a Wednesday.. That isn't exactly rush hour, and there were only a handful of people there. First order of scrambled eggs was runny, and no flavor. The skinny girl at the bar was rude, when I complained to her about my order. Second order was meh. Home fries were bland, how do you make bland home fries? They overcooked cooked my sausage, and the excuse was the cook was in training.. Are you serious? I didn't even argue any further about the issue because the service was that bad, and the waitress was rude and very inconsiderate. I came here off a recommendation from a friend. Im a flight attendant that was staying in downtown Baltimore and was looking for a place to have a nice breakfast.I googled breakfast near me and Saturday Morning Cafe came up.It was only .2 miles away so i called them to find out till when breakfast would be served. First of all i found the name of the establishment quite charming. From my first interaction to the young lady on the phone,i found her quite warm and friendly and decided to visit them. Saturday Morning Café provides great service and a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. The café was easy to find and is conveniently located near the inner harbor. I would suggest if you are looking for a great alternative to the hotel breakfast (which is often fairly expensive for the quality/quantity) then head on over to the Saturday Morning Café. The food was well worth the price (French Toast slices were huge, two eggs, and choice of meat for $10.95) plus bottomless cups of Zeek's Coffee for $3.00!!! SMC is a lovely spot to enjoy some tasty breakfast, hot coffee, and friendly smiles. P.S. Our server Ghia was so sweet and attentive. I came here while visiting Baltimore for the weekend with some friends. This place is secluded and intimate with outdoor seating which I highly recommend. The food didn't take long at all. I had the loaded Alabama grits, it's a must have. I also had the chicken and waffles, they were nice and crispy. Honestly, the great experience was because our amazing waitress, the "Steelers Girl" who wears the team jersey. She was extremely hospitable and always made sure we got what we needed. By far the BEST breakfast place in Baltimore, at least in the inner harbor. Nice and hidden, but it'll still be packed on the weekends in the morning. But if you go later (say 12ish) you should be fine. The wait staff is wonderful and just the sweetest, and makes you feel right at home. I always get the chicken and waffles. They marinate it overnight and it's the perfect combination of crispy and juicy and full of flavor. The honey biscuits and chicken is also fantastic, my friends go to. THE BEST BREAKFAST POTATOES YOU WILL HAVE IN YOUR LIFE! Yall, dont pass this hidden gem up! Stumbled upon this gem on new years day and I fell in love. The shrimp and grits were incredible, but the star of the show was their country potatoes. No breakfast potatoes will ever be the same again. My boyfriend and I stayed in the city the other night after a concert just to eat here in the morning. Reasonably priced dishes for how filling and delicious they are. Today was my first time coming to SMC. Small and low key location and I loved the atmosphere. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a biscuit on the side. The wait was a bit long but the young lady that was running everything kept me updated. On to the food, it was SCRUMPTIOUS! I have never had any shrimp and grits like this before. It had tomatoes, cheese, bacon and I believe old bay seasoning. Everything came together so well I wanted seconds! The biscuit reminded me of the homemade biscuits my grandmother used to make. This is great little place just steps away from busy downtown but yet hidden away in a little pedestrian street. It's a conventional old fashioned diner serving conventional breakfast fare with some imaginative twists. The staff were pleasant and attentive. My skillet was excellent. There was plenty of coffee. The chicken and waffles looked great and the smoked fried chicken Benedict also seemed intriguing but I only had room for one breakfast. Yes, there was a sketchy homeless guy hanging around but apparently the owner makes an effort to feed the homeless which effort one has to respect. I'll be back. read more

It's 9:30am, I'm not trying to scream over 90s pop music to have a conversation with someone two feet away from me. The menu was a QR code on a dirty, laminated card stuck to the table. My friend and I each ordered an entree plus a short stack to share. Neither of our egg dishes came with toast so we ordered that on the side. All they offer is white, English muffin or biscuit. I ordered the white toast and it is the 2" thick, low quality, tasteless white bread they use for their French toast. Whatever. The utensils are one step above plastic - they are light-weight, cheap, rough edged crap you might imagine in a prison. Whatever. The plastic containers of half and half were already on the table, sitting there at room temp. Again, whatever. The waitress dropped off the bill, said to use the QR code to pay unless we were using cash, then took off. If we wanted to split the bill, I guessed we would need to wait for her to come back around. So, I offered to pay the astoundingly high bill. I open the QR link and the first things that popped are the tip options with 20% pre-selected. All told the bill was $97 for two people. When I got home I glanced at the itemized bill: *They charged us $16 for two cups of coffee with one refill each. *a 20 % tip was already included! Apparently, they add 20% onto checks over $50. Of course it's over $50 when you charge $16 for mugs of coffee, and $$ for sides of crappy white toast. Make no mistake, this is my fault for paying with the QR code and not combing through the itemized bill first. I guess I'm not used to going to neighborhood joints expecting to get fleeced. My suggestion: go around the corner to Spoons Cafe on Cross St: high quality food and you won't feel robbed blind when you look at the bill.
