Very impressed with the owner's honesty! My pet is on a certain medication that is extremely effective, so I've been compounding her doses at home and buying online to save money. However, I've read that this particular medication is more effective and stable in a lipid base than in an aqueous form. I wasn't sure what that entailed, so I reached out to a friend who recommended me to Sam. She told me that Sam has a proprietary formula, and that he had previously compounded this medication for her in a lipid base. She suggested that he'd be able to answer my questions, and if not, possibly prepare for me the medication in the form I need. I called up Sam and told him how I've currently been compounding the meds at home, and instead of trying to upsell me his own formula or claiming that it was more effective. He said that what I was doing sounds great to him, and that he didn't think it was necessary for me to buy the medication compounded via his own formula. I was very pleasantly impressed with how helpful and friendly he is, and with his honesty in informing me that it wasn't necessary for me to buy from him given what I was doing at home. I'll be keeping Wespaw Pets in my mind for my future pet medication needs! read more

Sam is amazing and this place is the best. Their customer service is superb. After almost 24 hours of miscommunication between me, the vet office and Wespaw (totally not their fault - my phone wasn't working), it was coming up on noon on Saturday and we desperately needed a special antibiotic for our sick guinea pig, Muffins. By the time we connected with Wespaw, we were going to miss their delivery window if we didn't cancel our plans, so I was resigned to giving up our movie tickets and dinner reservation. Sam bent over backwards to re-schedule his orders, mixed the medicine immediately and re-routed the delivery person to accommodate us. He got it to us in two hours, and is a hero. Also, the medicine is apparently delicious if you are a guinea pig, and now our other guinea pig is extremely jealous. Muffins is on the mend, thanks to the stupendous people at Wespaw! read more

So, I've never actually physically been to this place, which should say a LOT about my 5-star rating!! The staff are sooooo accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly! I recently placed an order over the phone with Oscar, who was busy helping customers in the store, but was still so patient and lovely. Then when the order was supposed to come in, I worked with Luis since it is a holiday weekend and the distributor's office closed. Luis diligently followed up with me throughout the day, and called me first thing this morning as promised to ensure that my dog's food would be delivered in a timely manner since I would not be able to transport the two large bags by myself. He also gave me a great recommendation for treats! Luis truly went ABOVE AND BEYOND!! Admittedly, I only checked out Wespaw because of proximity to my apartment and because my usual place is still closed, but I wish I'd known about them before because this will undoubtedly be my new go-to spot for my dog's needs!! read more

This store is the highlight of my dogs evening walk! We invariably go in to look around but she only wants treats from the assistant behind the counter! So after satisfying her addiction, we can then move throughout the store to check out the wonderful array of pet products. I purchase my kibble and doggy treats here and the prices are just as competitive as Petco. I highly recommend this store to any one hesitating on which one to frequent. Because this place needs another 5 star review? Yes. I'm doing one. The hubs and I went in a couple of weeks ago to buy some basic supplies for getting a new cat. I think we were the first people of the day because they were still busy putting away orders from the truck. The two people on staff weren't "too busy" to answer a question for us, and literally everything we asked about was on sale. I've worked at boutique pet shops similar to this, and have seen people pay 2-3 times as much as we did for a pet "starter kit". 5 Stars on price. 5 Stars on service. 4 Stars on selection (some things I wanted aren't carried, but I was told they may be in the future). read more

I just moved to this nieghborhood and came along this pet store and was so glad to find this place because my dog always got primal frozen food which alot of pet stores dont have a frozen section and the staff was very helpful and friendly and when they told me they delivered as well i felt relieved. cause it is very convienent for me because of my busy schedule and work i just want to thank the staff they really know thier stuff. read more

Lately this place has been a disaster zone with ailes blocked with product stacked on the floors and not the shelves. Whoever is working behind the counter obviously has alot on their hands with the disarray and dealing with customers. I have really liked this spot over the years but lately iam not sure what has happend ever since the spanish guy left this place has been a wreck no help for spanish customers! Seems understaffed having a single person trying to ring us up and nobody to stock or help customers while that happens. The Staff no longer seems helpful. I would like to continue my shopping and referring here, but not if the owner doesn't start staffing and stocking properly. read more

Very happy to see this business join our neighborhood. Before they arrived, I could never make it to the other pet supply store around the corner. I'm coming from working in Midtown East. There weren't many pet stores that carried the higher quality brands I like. I had to walk out of my way at lunch time to pick up pet food and supplies, haul it back to work and then commute with these bulky heavy items back home. Now that Wespaw Pets opened, I don't have to do that. Their late hours are great for those of us that don't make it home until between 7 - 8 pm. The customer service at this lovely little pet store is outstanding. The store itself is very well stocked with premium pet food, toys, pet beds and other pet supplies. They have nice discounts on pet food. But what really sets this store apart is its amazing customer service. The people who work here are incredibly nice and endlessly patient. They are always eager to answer questions, help out, and spend a lot of time with each customer. Every single person who works here has been exceptionally nice and professional. This store carries Tiki Cat brand canned cat food, which I like to feed my cats, and the chain stores don't carry it. They also deliver with no fee, which is great if I am sick or can't get out, and I run out of cat food. Can't beat that! A little pricey but on par with the chain stores, as someone else said. Always happy with the customer service so not sure what these negative reviews are talking about. Happy to have it so close by in the neighborhood. read more

Wespaw Pets is a very nice store. It is spotlessly clean, attractive and well organized, and they have a nice selection despite having a small space. The store staff is very pleasant and helpful and they give out samples like little rawhide chews. Yes, it is a little pricier than shopping online or at a big place like Petco, but I like supporting a small mom and pop shop in my neighborhood. Sadly, my dog passed away so I have only been here a few times when pet sitting, but when we bring another pup into the family we will definitely shop here a lot. Dogs like this place too....today I saw a dog throw a tantrum, laying down on the pavement, belly up...because he wanted to go in and his "dad" was taking him in the other direction! read more

Great store. Employees are really nice and helpful. Its one of the only places that stocks the only food my cat will eat. One time they neglected to give me my case discount on food, and they apologized and said they would give it to me next time. The next time I came in, I didnt even have to remind them, they remembered and gave me both discounts. Its ok to make a mistake as long as you try to make it right. I'm so thrilled Wes Paw is now in Sunnyside! We now have a neighborhood store in walking distance to take our dog to pick out a toy and to pick up healthy, made-in-the-USA treats and food. They have great brands! Everything is healthy and safe for your pets. We are so careful as to what food and treats we give our dog and love that we now have a neighborhood store that has an inventory that caters to the needs of dog owners like myself. Really nice staff and a clean, inviting space. They sell the brand of food our cat eats (we actually started her on it based of of their recommendation and she's doing very well a year and a half later). Recently went in for a refill and the last bag of her "flavor" had a small hole in it. They knocked the price down and patched the hole for us - no questions asked, no gimmicks. Also...we got her a new collar and had to exchange it twice before we found one that worked. No issues there. Patient to boot! read more

This is my "go-to" pet store when I am in Queens. (I live in Manhattan and often head to the Butcher's Block nearby.) Great place with very competitive prices. Very nice, helpful staff too. And in case anyone out there hasn't realized this yet, PETCO is so much more expensive than most of the (smaller) neighborhood stores. They do price match, yes, but it just proves the smaller, neighborhood stores like Wespaw Pets is much better value all around. read more

The guys of WesPaw Pets are very knowledgeable, helpful and super nice. When we go in there we can always count on Jamie or Mo to answer whatever questions we have about different foods or treats for our dog and cats. Recently we were in there asking them what foods were good for our dog (who has to be on a limited ingredient diet now) and they helped us choose something based on what we were looking for because we didnt like what our vet recommended. They were able to give us the rundown on the different foods which made our choice easier. Another BIG plus is the pricing. They aren't expensive and thats great for us because we have 4 mouths to feed! We have been shopping there for a long time now and would recommend them to everyone! read more

I needed to have pain medication prepared quickly post-op for my cat. Sam was so incredibly kind and accommodating. He stopped what he was doing and prepared individual doses for easier handling. Mohammed, Hamdi and Mark run the store with pride and professionalism they have great knowledge about pet products and always have trusted theit recommendations. If they do not have an item they make every effort to obtain it on a timely basis. There are many times I have to get deliveries close to a hundred pounds and I live in a walk up apartment and they do it without complaint. They have a great variety of high end foods and toys and the store is always well organized and clean. I am so happy to have such a great store in our neighborhood. The wespaw pharmacy is another 5 star service Sam takes his responsibility to fill prescriptions for our furry babies very seriously and will work all hours to get meds especially for emergency cases. When they opened up I lived in Sunnyside. I then moved elsewhere and I still come to this store. When you first walk in everyone is so nice it's like family. I refuse to go anywhere else and mind you there is a pet store right around the corner from where I live. These guys are great!! Seriously, don't go anywhere else but here they have anything and everything you need for your pets and if they don't they will find it and bring it to the store for you.
